Welcome to 2025. Adam had a great 2024 with new music, new judge role on TV and to wrap up the year, a starring role on Broadway. Let’s hope that 2025 is as rewarding. We know that he will be a guest judge on Drag Race, and will be performing at a few outdoor concerts in the summer. And there are sure to be more surprises ahead. When I got tickets for Sunset Blvd there were already a number of times Nicole had been out. It’s grueling work to do 8 shows a week which is why there are TWO understudies for both Adam and Auli’i. I’ve only been to 3 shows and already saw both of her understudies and saw Auli’i only once, but Adam twice. It is what it is. With QAL there was no backup, but he only missed once. But it was just singing, walk in the park for him. This is lines, choreo, acting, much more demanding. They’ll live. But of course, sad.

It’s official….my husband & I discussed it last night & we have decided to cancel our trip to NYC in March to see #Cabaret. You all know how much I adore #AdamLambert & was thrilled at the opportunity….but some things are bigger than ‘wants’. #CanadaFirst
(She’s been a fan since Idol).
Seeing all of Adam’s cancellations later in the week makes me realize just how fortunate luval, riskylady and I were to see him earlier in the week on January 28th. Of course, the 3 of us were part of the group of 7 ALLer’s who found out 2 hours before the show on January 15th that Adam wouldn’t be performing. So we weren’t always so lucky. I did go to the show on January 15th in spite of no Adam and was glad I did. This production is fantastic from the frenetic preshow performers to the immersive staging and the stellar cast. I also got to see Auli’i perform and hear her gorgeous voice. She had a scheduled night off on the 28th. It was interesting to see how Adam’s understudy approached the role and compare it later to Adam’s interpretation. His understudy did a fine job, but played the role very straight. On our return trip to NYC to see Cabaret, luval and I decided to get seats at one of the cafe tables in the second row. We were served a light dinner before the show and dessert during the intermission. It was fantastic being that close to the stage and Adam. Adam was dazzling from the moment he came on stage. His performance was outstanding! He was funny and naughty in the first act and very emotional in the second act. Even when he was positioned off to the side of the stage, we could see him reacting to the action on the stage. His voice was magnificent as always, but his acting was very impressive too. We got lucky again as we were leaving the theater. We happened to walk by the stage door just as Adam was coming out and got to see him up close again. He was so kind and friendly to the fans, signing Playbills and posing for selfies. It was a wonderful evening!
