Please excuse all the typo above. I was using my iPad and it wouldn’t let me Edit after I posted.
Mils, luval, are u out there? A friend we met in St Agathe named jp1958 sent this to me. Showed it to riskylady and told her to calm down and she said how could I send her something like this and ask her to calm down???
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIsdY9VQwWQ
Damn, cher…am at work now and can’t watch that YouTube !
retjenny what a nice memory of your GN show. thank you for sharing.
cher Holy cow almost choked on my tea this morning.
luval be glad you can’t watch at work, zero productivity after watching that. But you would be walking around with a big smile the rest of the day.
Thank you cher for that video! What a way to start the day!
Since many of my fellow concert goers have written wonderfully detailed recaps, I have decided to take a different approach and write a precap! What does this mean, you ask…..Well, this is a somewhat lengthy story of how I came to be at this concert. I write it as a tribute to Adam fans everywhere!
I have been fortunate to have been to several GN shows. I used to be one of those people for whom one concert was enough, but once I discovered Adam, I literally couldn’t get enough of his shows. Since I live in NJ, I naturally HAD to go to Starland, Nokia (NY) and Foxwoods last year, dragging my kids or some other friends who had liked Adam on Idol. I thought that would be the end of it, but watching Adam perform was like a “fix” I needed to have! I had never travelled to see any other performer, but when Las Vegas came on sale last year, and the venue was so unique (the lagoon pool at the Mandalay Bay Hotel), I told myself that I would see him there for “one last show.” HA!!! (This would be my mantra for the next several months…it was always one last show!) However, Vegas presented one obstacle that the local shows didn’t….I didn’t have anyone to go with and I wasn’t at the point where I would go alone. My husband was a good sport and offered to go with me, but somehow I knew that wouldn’t be a good fit. He doesn’t mind my Adam fixation, but doesn’t share it, and my local shows had taught me not to go with anyone that wasn’t as into it as I was. Luckily, my brother had a work commitment in Vegas during the time of the show, so I had someone with whom to travel with and share the concert (if necessary.) About that time, I was on MJs and read Cher’s postings about going to Vegas. Completely out of character for me, I contacted her through the site and we arranged to meet the day of the show. Telling myself that I was taking all necessary precautions (in case she turned out to be an ax murderer!!!), we met in the lobby of her hotel. Cher was her usual few minutes late, and I was waiting, thinking maybe this wasn’t such a good idea after all, when I heard a familiar voice talking not so quietly about Adam. She turned the corner and I saw her and her posse and instantly, a great friendship was born. Cher was totally not how I had pictured her, though. lol From speaking to her on the phone and hearing her distinctive accent, I had a different perception of what I thought she would look like. She realized that right away, said it happens all the time, and we laugh about it to this day. We literally spent the next 24 hours together, getting ready, hanging out for the soundcheck, watching the amazing show, going to the buses and of course, getting dinner at 3 am!! She was like a great friend I never knew I had. Looking back, I can’t believe I doubted the rationality of flying almost across the country to meet strangers to go to a concert with. We wound up hanging out with Libralady and Agathe.hb who had come all the way from Poland also completely trusting Cher, an internet friend from MJs, to meet her at the airport and share a hotel room with. We all had a great time together!! Instant glamily!!
Luckily, the GN tour came back east, and I was able to go to another” last show” in Upper Darby Pa. By this time, I was totally comfortable going myself. There I met Adamized, (briefly) and a lovely Adam fan (I will call her Ms. Delaware) who by chance was sitting next to me. We bonded instantly. We chatted a lot before and after the concert and made plans to stay in touch. Ms. Delaware was debating going to the Staten Island NY show, and I strongly encouraged her to do so. I told her I would go also (one last show!!) and invited her to stay at my house after the show, so she wouldn’t have to drive the 3 hours back to Delaware that night. After all, that’s just what Adam fans do for one another!! She did end up coming and we had a great time, both at the show, and later, relaxing at my house.
After that, when the Florida shows came available, I didn’t think twice. Of course I flew down to meet Cher and joined her entourage of 30 peeps in Miami for 24 hours to go to the Hard Rock (another last show!) By this time, my RL friends were actively questioning my sanity, but I didn’t care. There I met Riskylady, Margie32127, RS from Israel and Eywflyer (briefly) and hung out with Cher, Bessiedim, Libralady and Floridagirl. We had a blast!
Sadly, all good things must come to an end. GN was winding down, and the last 2 shows in LA were announced. By this time, Cher’s entourage was well established, and her LA posse had grown from a few stragglers to nearly 25!!!. LA was amazing, and I met lots of others, who would become my new bffs as well. As has been well documented in last year’s concert threads, Cher and Francegf organized an Adam fan luncheon for lots of MJ peeps, and some other new friends. Among the people there was @OvationImpact, a non-MJs northern Ca. woman whom Cher knew through the Suz526 website. We must have exchanged greetings, but there were so many people there, we didn’t get a chance to really connect.
By now, you are probably questioning how all these concert escapades relate to the St. Agathe show. Believe it or not, they actually do!
Fast forward to May of this year…the St. Agathe concert is announced and I hear from Cher that a few people might be going. I checked the festival site on the internet and saw that it was a 5 day music festival, complete with fireworks each night. My husband is big fireworks fan, so I thought this would be a good way to introduce him to the whole Adam phenomenon, without overwhelming him with dozens of friends. After all, how many people would actually make the trek up to a small town, an hour and twenty minutes north of Montreal. Little did I know!!! I bought 2 music passports, and started the countdown till July.
As it became apparent that more and more peeps were going, I began to question the wisdom of bringing my husband! This was no longer going to be a quiet weekend getaway, complete with an Adam concert for me and fireworks for him. This was turning into quite the PARTY opportunity!!! I quickly convinced my husband that this was not the trip for him, and instead, called Ms. Delaware and asked her if she wanted to join my Adam adventure. I had the tickets and the hotel reservations already. After some convincing (RL complications), she agreed and a plan was born!! She was going to drive up to my house Tues before the concert, and we would leave Wed. morning to drive to Montreal and join Cher and everybody else for an amazing 5 days!!!
As the day drew closer, we talked on the phone often. What clothes to bring…what would Adam sing…who else was coming….etc. We were both very excited. The weekend before the concert, however, I got a text from Ms. Delaware saying that she might have a problem and to call her. I did, and she told me that she only realized then that she needed a current passport, and her passport had expired. It had never occurred to me to mention the passport requirement before then; I just assumed everybody knew! She told me she felt terrible and didn’t want to hold me up, and that maybe I should ask somebody to go in her place. All I could think of was “SH#T”!!! I wanted her to come because I knew we would have a great time together, and most of the people I knew were either going already, or couldn’t go for a variety of reasons. Ok, I thought, don’t panic. She decided that she would go on Monday to the closest passport office to try and see if she could get an expedited passport.
Monday came and I was crossing my fingers and praying all day. Monday evening, Ms. Delaware called despondently and said she was unable to get an appointment, but she would try again on Tues. I didn’t know what to do. Whereas I didn’t mind flying across the country alone, I had planned to drive this trip, and, best case scenario, it would have meant a 6+ hour drive to Montreal, ALONE, and then another hour + from there to St. Agathe. Moreover, if there were problems or traffic at the border, it could have added another few hours to the trip. (We had driven to Montreal a few years ago and the border crossing took forever.)
Later that night, I happened to be speaking to Cher, and I told her my tale of woe. I really was debating not going at all, as terrible as that would have been. Cher tried to reassure me, but when we hung up, I didn’t know what to do. Cher and I usually speak late at night, so it wasn’t unusual when my phone rang at 12:30 am. It was Cher. She told me she happened to have emailed @OvationImpact (in Northern Ca.) and several other Adam fan friends earlier that night to say that she was off to Montreal the next morning and that she’d keep them informed about anything epic that happened in St Agathe. Sometime after I had spoken to Cher, @OvationImpact had replied to her email saying she was kinda regretting deciding not to go to St Agathe and then Cher for whatever reason decided to mention my situation (Cher says she was sad for me and needed to tell another Adam fan that would understand my misery) and @OvationImpact got back to her within 5 minutes to say that if she could get a flight from Oakland or San Francisco into Newark NJ for the next day, she would join me in this Adam adventure!!! @OvationImpact is a huge Adam fan. She has been to numerous GN shows. However, the reason she hadn’t planned to go to St. Agathe was that she had 2 other trips planned within a week and a half of the St Agathe concert and she didn’t think she could handle all 3. However, upon hearing that another Adam fan urgently needed a travel companion, she immediately said yes!! I couldn’t believe it!!! A woman whom I had only met once across a table (and neither of us knew at the time that we had even met before until Cher realized we had in LA) was willing to fly across the country into Newark with only a few hours notice, and join me on my road trip, so that I didn’t have to drive alone. WOW!!! She booked a last minute flight (with connections, that took most of a day) and wound up coming into Newark at 7 pm Tues. night. She caught a flight less than 7 hrs after we first spoke. She said she went to her hubby and asked him for a lift to the airport at 5. He asked where she was going. She said to an Adam concert, he said, ok, 5pm tomorrow? Nope, she said, 5am, in a few hours. He raised his eyebrows a bit and that was that. Then she went to pack. She stayed over at my house on Tues. night, and we drove up to Canada on Wed. We chatted the entire time and played Adam cds (of course!!) Unfortunately, we arrived too late to meet everybody for dinner, but we caught up with Cher, Floridagirl, Risklylady, Ladybugs, Margie32127, Jlurksacto, Ron, Nkd and her daughter late Wed. night back at the hotel and lots of other friends (old and new) on Thurs at the wonderful dinner in St. Agathe. We wound up clicking really well together, (which was good, considering we had lots of time in the car and hotels together, lol.) She is another new best friend whom I am really glad I met. Upon returning from Canada on Sunday, @OvationImpact stayed at my house Sun. night, and we went shopping Mon. morning (no sales tax on clothing in NJ!!) Then I took her back to Newark airport Mon. afternoon and she flew home.
It turned out that Ms. Delaware did manage to get her passport on Tues. However, RL complications made it impossible for her to come in the end. Had she come, Cher had an extra ticket, so we all would have gone together. Ms. Delaware will join me next tour, she promises.
Anyway, the point of this long winded story is to demonstrate the amazing nature of Adam’s fans. We are such a devoted bunch, and we will go to great lengths to help out other Adam fans in need, even ones we hardly know. It has been said before but it bears repeating; the camaraderie that has developed and the friendships that have been forged are truly remarkable. A large part of what makes an Adam Lambert concert an “event” rather than just a concert is the feeling that I am meeting up with good friends at every one—a sort of reunion! I feel truly blessed that I have come across such a wonderful group of new friends and I hope to meet up with all and more of you on the next tour!!!
The rest, as they say, is Adam History, and I leave to the other recaps!
Does anyone have an mp3 of this version or can you tell me what to use. The one I’m trying “video2mp3” doesn’t seem to work .THanks
Cgesq… Loved your story and I’m going to show it to someone who “just doesn’t get it”.
Cgesq, what a fantastic story. Thank you for sharing all of those experiences. What great fans!!!
Little Dutchess, here are two MP3 files I made using the site YouTube to MP3. Not sure which one you can use, but good luck! I had already made one for myself, and it sounds beautiful on my ipod!

OK, Little Dutchess, have tried twice to provide MP3 files, but my posts are going off into the netherland?????
cgesq – I loved your story, every bit of it! When I saw such a long post, I literally “ooooh”ed, I love the long ones! and you expressed so beautifully what so many of us have experienced to one or another degree. I have bookmarked this page, and the next time someone raises an eyebrow when I am going to an Adam concert and staying with or meeting up with a “stranger” (of course that word will only apply for about 5 minutes after we actually meet!) I will send them to read your wonderful explanation of what we are all about. As a long poster myself, I know that it took quite a while to get all that down on paper. Thank you so much for taking the time to post it all.
little dutchess, I saved these instructions a while ago, have never used this but several peeps said it worked like a charm:
Riskylady and Little dutchess, the mp3 posts got caught in the spam filter, they are posted now.
Thank you, eywflyer! I thought we were allowed two links, so didn’t understand what happened. My first attempt had two, and the second one had one, then I just gave up LOL.
cgesq, you said it perfectly
Sharing concert experiences with each other makes them so much better, but more than that, the friendships we originally made through MJs have extended beyond the realm of Adam Lambert fandom (however great that is in itself) and touch so many other aspects of our lives. There really is something special about Adam Lambert fans. When cher came to Israel with two friends they stayed with mr and then with me. The friends, who aren’t Adam fans and who neither of us knew previously, kept telling cher that they were imposing on us by staying with us instead of going to a hotel. She just told them: It’s fine, they are Adam Lambert fans. And she was perfectly right! And we all had a blast together.
I will be in the States and Canada next month and can’t wait to spend time with cher, riskylady, bessiedim some more Florida peeps, Suz, and cgesq when I get to New York. And oksanna, I hope to meet you in New York, too.
And I love all the recaps. I know how much work they are, but please keep them coming. We are lapping them up.
cgesq What a wonderful story, Thank you for taking the time to share it with us.
Thanks for the positive response to my story. It felt wonderful writing it, reliving all those concert experiences!!!
To everyone except Kradamour, I apologize for the length.
I’ve been lurking for a while now and have been enjoying all the recaps and vids and vicariously experiencing the Ste. Agathe concert. (Kradamour, just want to say that I love reading your posts!).
Cgesq, I’m drawn out of lurkdom now by your ‘precap’, lol. I LOVED it. Love the humorous way you told the story of how ‘one last concert’ became another, and another. And another. And you really highlighted the wonderful community that has been brought together and inspired by Adam. It’s an amazing thing. I feel motivated to become more adventurous and courageous, and I hope to party with you and others at an Adam concert SOON!!!
riskylady and eywflyer I believe I have gotten the download..thank you so much.
Kradamour I will save your instructions for using Zamzar and try tomorrow. they sound easy enough. Thanks for taking the time!
Welcome, Ksha518! So glad you decided that this is a safe place to come out and play! (and thank you for kind words).
cgesq, your “precap” is destined to be a classic post – peeps are going to make reference to it. Thank you again for that amazing post! I have read it 3 times (so far) and every time I find myself smiling and nodding in agreement. My family was pretty sure that cher was an axe murderer or that her brother-in-law would sell me into white slavery when I drove alone to his home to meet her I don’t think too many 29 year olds are sold into the sex trade, actually, and it was kind of flattering that anyone would think so ! But nothing could have been more 180 degrees from that: he took us to a really interesting history museum!
By the time I drove to Ste Agathe picking up total strangers on the way and staying overnight with luval, no one in RL even blinked. The word “Adam” removes all concern.
I’m working on my recap. I finally have a couple of days to obsess over it!
Have any of you ever been on the Cat in the Hat ride at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure in Orlando? Don’t you love it?
That’s how my mind feels these days!
Hi Ksha518! Please come join our crazy, fun groups!! It’s extremely gratifying to be able to put faces with the blog names of the folks you talk to online. We all pretty much got out of our regular lives and comfort zones due to Adam Lambert and our lives have definitely been more enriched.
Meeting all these new friends is an incredible experience.
It’s an instant friendship. I feel as close to some of them as if I’ve known them all my life. Real life friends and family think we’re nuts, but many have changed in their thinking after meeting some of my new blog friends. This Adam fandom has been fantastic. The mutual caring, sharing and bonding feelings we have experienced cannot be explained to non Adam fans. There are no words. It just is.
Earlier last year before the GN tour was announced, it was advertised that Adam would be doing a September concert for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays baseball team’s summer concert series. Since I live down here in Miami, of course I had to go, so riskylady and I decided to attend. Tampa is about a 4 hr drive from here, so that was definitely already out of my comfort zone. I hate driving far away. No matter. It was Adam. He’s worth it. Then the GN tour was announced. None of the venues were close to me. Sniff. I also dislike flying but will if I must. I did not want to wait until September for my concert, but what to do?
Every year for the past 15 years I’ve taken my mom to Vegas, but last year had decided to skip because so many casinos were opening up locally. Then Adam’s Vegas concert was announced!! Said to hubby, “Decided to take mom to Vegas after all hon” Said he, “Didn’t you say you were skipping this year?” Said I, “Mom wants to go and you know she’s not getting any younger.” Heh. Ok. Started plans to go to Vegas on MJs blog. I still had to wait until July 31st to see Adam for my first GN concert. It was an endless wait for Vegas, but so worth it. That’s when I first met libralady, greenhippo and her daughter from SoCal, mieps and her son from British Columbia, debiflowers from New Mexico,
agathe.hb from Poland and cgesq from NJ. How fun it was!! We are middle-aged groupies according to libralady! Never in my life had I gone to barricades to get autographs after a concert!! These ladies said I had to do it for Agathe since she had come from so far. Adam never came out. He had gone partying out on the town. We did see Tommy and then Monte came to talk to us and gave us autographs. Great concert. Not enough Adam. Started feeling the need for another experience.
Now which concert would be convenient and not get me in trouble at home? Aaaaahhh!! Raleigh, NC. Home of the brother-in-law and family and a perfect time to visit them. Sorry, actual brother not invited. Son, nephew and niece of hubby and myself off to Raleigh-Durham. Cost me 12 tickets for the family and friends. That’s another thing. Glamberts no longer have much retirement funds. Gotta keep working to see Adam live! Raleigh is where I met Kradamour first and we had a great time!! Also met Ashley and her sis there as well…. to be continued….
Loved part 1 of your saga, cher. Can’t wait for the rest. There are so many great writers in this group. I wonder if someone could put the recaps, precaps, meaningful longer comments, etc together into a book. It would be a lovely keepsake for us and give others an idea of the Adam Lambert Experience. I know, I know, Juneauxena already wrote The Meaning of Adam Lambert, but that was just from Idol, this would also show the friendships and the community that has been created stemming from that fandom. Anybody willing to pick up the gauntlet?
Ksha518 — welcome! We’re glad you came out to play!
And cgesq — what a lovely story! Amazing, really, Thank you for taking the time to write it up and post it.
rs, I love your idea for a book. I actually think it could be marketable. Wonder how many books Juneau has sold? And I think that a book written by fans for fans (which is what this would be) would be treasured. Add some eye-candy photos and make it coffee-table size and bingo.
cher, lots of quotable quotes in your post!
(I sure hope that some very wealthy and generous glambert is planning a charity retirement community for us. Just saying… )
but having posted this, I think that these posts should not be on the Ste Agathe thread; they should be in chat or maybe even their own thread. I hope that more peeps will post their “prequels” and they shouldn’t be lost in a concert thread.
See what you started, cgesq?!?!?! (grin)
Can’t wait for your recap, nekkid – I love that your perspective of things is so often just a little bit different and thought-provoking. No obsessing, it will be wonderful (and honestly, even if it isn’t, we love them all!)
Okay, now I am picturing an Adam roller coaster: long slow climb to the top (pre-Idol days), while passing vignettes of Upright Cabaret, Wicked, 10 commandments, Zodiac…then unexpected sudden terrifying drop into the AMAs, then another faster climb to another peak (Gam Nation), then loops and turns and …. ! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!
If a book by the fans and for the fans were to be in the making, it might encourage more of us to put our Adam experiences into words. Like you said Kradamour, maybe there could be a separate thread for the ones not directly connected to the current concert thread. Hm…are people composing gems in their heads yet? Even if there were not to be a book, a thread like that would make a wonderful read for all of us that we could keep adding to and going back to.
Maybe I’ll just send it to you!
I do love these stories of peeps meeting and enjoying friendships all because of our
obsessionlove for Adam.cgesq, cher, kradamour, still loving the precaps and recaps!! Like a tapestry that is being woven, and hopefully will never be finished, but still looks beautiful as it’s being spun.. I know there are more to come (ceddies, luval?) And the wonderfully wacky nkd?
Little Dutchess, so glad you got your download finally.
rs, great idea! Wish we had had you along as documentary photographer all the time, your pictures are so lovely.
Hi Ksha518! It’s good to see you here.
Ksha518,
Thanks for your nice thoughts.
If my post did nothing else, it brought a new friend into our midst!! Welcome and enjoy the wild ride with us
Might as well continue now while I’m bored at work and it’s pouring rain outside. I feel as though I’m writing a novel called Confessions of an Adam Addict. After Raleigh, was New Orleans. Had decided that I would try to attend an epic concert and being that Voodoo was one of the songs on the album, NOLA would be one of those. Now, what excuse to use for NOLA? Hmm. Mentioned New Orleans to a close friend and she was excited because she had never been to NOLA and ding! that was a great excuse. D wanted me to go with her to see NOLA since I had been there b4. Yeah sure, like during college almost 30 yrs before. Then a bit of a bump in the road. My better half decided he wanted to go to NOLA too. Took a bit of convincing for him to lose that idea. Told him too much girl chat would get on his nerves. Hadn’t even informed him yet about the weekend following NOLA with the 3 Florida concerts when I would be awol again. I would deal with that when I got back from NOLA.
Nola was great!! I met adamland, suz, ceddies, luval, eywflyer, soberba, jae, ala4adam, goatiegarden, adamisgodxxx, all from MJs for the first time! I also met margie32127 there as well. We had a nice preconcert dinner get together organized by adamland’s friend and it really was an epic concert with the voodoo stick entrance and we had a fun time at the clubs on Bourbon Street afterwards. Had some fantastic food in NOLA. Fabulous dinner at Antoine’s with Goatie, soberba, goatie’s roommate and my friend D one night and a decadent brunch at Brennan’s with adamland, Suz, D and soberba. Adamland bought some petit fours for D and me from a famous local bakery (Gambino’s?)there and they were divine! Especially the chocolate ones. D and I scarfed them down. Never got to try the King cake that Kradamour loves, but did have beignets and hot chocolate at Cafe du Monde a couple of times and once missed Adam and Terrence by a few minutes. Ran into Tommy, Alison, Liz and the dancers at a restaurant across the road.
Got back home on the Monday evening and was off to Melbourne on Friday afternoon with niece, nephew, Bessiedim from Toronto and another friend whose hubby had kindly offered to drive us around the whole weekend.(great guy ’cause y’all know how I hate driving) At the Melbourne concert, I met floridagirl and ellesay for the first time. Also went to the handicapped section. I had pre-arranged to meet Betty, a terminally ill internet friend from Melbourne, such a lovely lady and devoted Adam fan. Sadly, she passed away less than 2 months later but she had lived long enough to see her beloved Adam in person and she was over the moon!! I had had to tell her my best guess of the exact timing of the concert including the opening acts so her son could bring enough oxygen for the evening.
I met Betty thru Ebay because I had bought her copy of Adam’s Rolling Stone mag to give to another Adam fan as a gift. She then contacted me by email to make sure I would take care of the magazine. She told me she was very ill and didn’t want the magazine discarded after she passed and wanted to make sure another Adam fan got pleasure from it. She got her wish. A super Mega Adam fan has it in her possession. The Melbourne concert experience ended with Adam getting bitten by fire ants at the barricades. Then the news of the nutty girls after that concert driving between the buses and Florida Highway patrol officers had to intervene.
On to Tampa for the concert on the baseball field. Those baseball fans were not ready for the Glambert invasion. Their eyes widened when we showed up en masse, fully decked out in black Glam Nation/Adam tshirts and tons of glitter!! Loved that show on the field. A precursor for a Superbowl show one day I hope. Adam rocked that field and the Jumbotron really showcased the colors of GlamNation. Wow! What a spectacle! We had a blast waiting in the long lines to go onto the field. Met lots of fans, including casual ones. Glitter was being passed around by fans and glow necklaces were given to us by stadium personnel. That stadium had never seen such lines for any of their concerts before nor since. Fun time.
eta…forgot to say that after the stadium concert, Adam came out to the barricades. Where I was standing was not crowded at all and he came over to me and said “Hi”. I was dumbfounded. Never expected to see him right there with no one screaming nor clamoring for his attention. He looked at me, I looked back at him and just held my baseball program out for him to sign. I was speechless..believe it peeps! He said thanks for coming and moved on to riskylady who was so busy checking him out closely that she didn’t say a word either. He must have thought we were nuts. At one point Neil was passing by and he too spoke to me and I just stared at him like “Really? Neil is talking to me too?” Said nothing and he walked off.
Was I starstruck? Who knows? Had my “moments” and wasn’t ready for them.
Then the next morning we headed 4 hrs back home to Miami and back up to Hard Rock that evening…..to be continued
Ah yes, cher…”Confessions of an Adam Addict”. I can see the cover now. A tall, dark and handsome viking with a beautiful blonde in his arms.
Like everyone else’s recaps, whether from Ste Agathe or any show…can’t wait until the next chapter!!!!!
I love it cher! That’s a perfect title for the book of travels, reunions and confessions.
Cher, I am loving your vignettes of Adam travels!
AND we need a different thread for the precaps! eywflyer, are you listening? Adamland? anyone?
Things have been extremely busy since I left Sainte Agathe on Saturday morning, July 30th.
I’ve been trying to write a recap without my full brain intact! Since I don’t know where to start, I guess the beginning will work!
I begin my trip Wednesday July 27th leaving Houston and flying to Montreal. As the plane was picking up speed on the runway ready to lift off, I took my daughter’s hand and said to her “I can’t believe that we are doing this. We are flying to Canada for a concert and to meet these people!” Of course her reply, as a card carrying eyeroller, was “I’m excited for New York.” Is it possible to burst my bubble of joy? NO! Absolutely not! I will say that she thoroughly enjoyed our time in Canada. She loved the concert and was very pleasant even while being drenched by the rain. I will treasure this time with her.
Montreal! I can see the river and the ports. We’re here! We were through customs very quickly, now to get to the hotel. I texted cher, she said to get a taxi, they were too far away. I didn’t know that they had gotten misdirected and were almost in Vermont!
I obviously should have taken a few French lessons from Kradamour, as the guy with the bus line and our taxi driver ridiculed my pronunciation of the hotel name. Le Nouvel Hotel! Chill people, I’m from Texas! He understood enough to get us there!
We got our very heavy bags into the hotel and to our room. My daughter was not feeling well after the flight and decided to take a nap. I again texted cher giving her our room number and she replied with the room number for Ron and jlurksacto. What a perfect opportunity while she is napping to go visit with the boys! I freshened up a bit and headed to their room.
I was so nervous. Would they welcome a surprise guest? What will they think of me? Will they like me? No computer screen to hide behind, this is REAL! Their room is tucked away in the corner! How perfect!
I can hear them from the hallway. I’m here. Knock, knock, knock. OMG, the talking stops, someone is opening the door. I’m so excited. Nervous. Excited.
It’s Ron!
He’s real… he’s here…I’m here! It’s a moment that I will never forget. There are a few of those moments during this trip. This is all too unbelievable!
He says, “It’s her.” The feeling I get as I remember this still brings tears to my eyes.
We both live this moment, greatly anticipated and abundantly fulfilled. Then…there’s that very special hug!
And as I look up, it’s jlurksacto. We had not conversed much on the site, but I always admired him. After meeting and getting to know him, my admiration for this lovely, generous man has grown immeasurably!
They invite me in, offer me drinks and a seat on the bed! Ron sits beside me. We grasp each other’s hands as if holding on to this incredible joy. We all talk, laugh, and have a great time! I can’t believe I’m here!
In no time, cher, riskylady, floridagirl, and margie32127 appear! They are such a fun group. I loved meeting every one of them. Ladybugs shows up. Such a lovely lady. I go get Calli, then, we all leave in search for dinner!
Dinner has been well documented by several. I had a great time sharing and laughing with these charming and amazing people! What a blast! Floridagirl had me laughing into tears! She’s very naughty! I can’t wait to spend more time with this group.
After dinner we are lead to the room of cgesq and @ovationimpact. It was great meeting them, however, I think that they were ready for bed. Plans were made for transportation to Sainte Agathe. We didn’t stay long.
Next morning, off to Sainte Agathe, a short hour plus drive!!! Jlurksacto agreed to drive ladybugs, Ron, my daughter and myself. We were leaving at 9:00am to get our numbers to stand in line. We should be there by 10:30. Well, that amazing little lady in jlurksacto’s dashboard decided that we should see a little more of Montreal. The kids in the back seat were getting a little restless, “are we there yet?”
Not yet, Ron! We did make it, fianlly! We got our numbers just in time for lunch. Some poutine, anyone?
It was a very large bowl of fries, cheese curds, and gravy topped with smoked meat(chopped ham).

I ate about a third of it, more than the three bites that Ron said. It was good, but filling!
Check that off the list!
We now head to the SpaWatel Hotel to inquire about check-in. We are too early. It’s time to take advantage of this spectacular view of the lake and mountains as we sit on the terrace. There are people wandering about, checking in, using the pool and playing bocce ball. Do we know any of them, but we don’t know what they look like? I don’t know!
It was not long before little dutchess and the duke arrived. What a pleasure meeting them.
After checking into my room, I returned to the terrace where I joined Ron and jlurksacto. I look at the parking area and see this woman walking up to the entrance. In my head I think, is that luval?(I have never seen her, but we had talked on the phone). In a few minutes Ron gets up and greets her with a hug. He must have said that’s luval or something, I greet her with a huge hug, but I sense a little resistance. Ok, she’s not into hugs, she doesn’t like me that much?
We try to explain to luval where to get her “number”, when I decided that it was much easier to show her. Luval clears the front seat for me to get in the car, then she asked, “What is your screen name again?” I said, “It’s me, it’s nekkid!” Oh my! She then wrapped her arms around me and returned the big hug that I had started some minutes ago. That, was a very special moment!
Number obtained and back to the hotel. It’s time to get ready for socializing and dinner!
To be continued…unless y’all beg me not to!
Hehehe, nkd, no cigar! Sorry, you’ll just have to plow ahead.
Nekkid, I am LOVING your recap! So straightforward and honest! Can.not.wait for the next installment (and I think I might be in it! woot!).
I LOVE these long meaty recaps! Gotta say that this blog has the absolute best recap writers. I think that anyone reading these recap posts would come away with a very accurate idea of what it was like to be there, and that is the point of it all, to share the experience with those who could not be there while also organizing and recalling our own memories.
nekkid, your post reminded me of a convocation I attended when I was teaching. It was for all the teachers in the district, and the superintendent of schools took the podium and wanted to talk about education for a global society and wanted to kick it off with an example of his high school French, so he greeted us with a cheery “Bonjour, y’all!”… but it was all good because it was French!
This is an incredible video of Sleepwalker from Ste Agathe. It shows the lighting on stage and has great sound.

These are so good!!!!
Adam was so fierce at this concert. He seemed happy and there were so many adorable smiles.
Thank you Kradamour. I’m trying to remember everything, and as you said, organize these memories in my mind.
This was only my second Adam concert and my first time meeting up with friends for that concert. I am taking lessons from cher’s remembrances though, as to how to explain away many trips with friends for future concerts!
She could definitely teach the master class on this subject!
Haha – I didn’t know the Link was going to take us to the actual bowl of Poutine that was in front of you! The other bowl is mine. The one next to the nearly drained glass of beer.
Yeah, that’s enough.
Did I really say “It’s her” and, in that moment, it didn’t occur to you to correct my grammar?
Srsly, I cherish the memory of opening that door and meeting you for the first time nkd … and I always will. {{BIGhug}}
Looking forward to Chapter 2
Perfectly said Kradamour!
Okay, re the poutine photo. Little red cubes of death do not belong on a poutine. And it was obviously not hot enough because the cheese is in a totally unmelted state. My one disappointment from the Ste Agathe concert – and it is such a tiny and trivial disappointment in the greater scheme of things – is that no one experienced a real, traditional, messy, delicious poutine.

I’ll let someone else supply/reveal names of participants. Being the only male,
guess I’m a given.
OK! I’m done!
Yes, you did say that, and I was just thinking, does he really know it’s me! I was a little in shock, it was very unreal. I don’t normally do these kinds of things!
nkd says:
You mean knock on the hotel room door of two men you’ve never met and then go inside?
I do that all the time.
