Hello Ron! I love your new avi picture. Is that from Ste Agathe?
Now get back to that story! I’m loving your recaps.
Hi nkd!!
Yes, Northern Spirit took the photo at the SpaWatel.
Great recap Ron. Your posts are always so amusing and clever. You always make me laugh. But who was at the door? I’m betting I know.
Hi glambotgram!! I’m glad to know that you’re having a few chuckles along the way with me.
I’ll give you a tiny, cryptic clue. The Knocker was a female.
Yes Ron I figured female and there was a wonderful picture if I have it correct.
Hmmmm, Ron, posting cliffhangers now, are we? Our 29-year-old hearts are feeling the stress! Please don’t keep us hanging too long. (I had to stop laughing in order to write this, too.)
Kradamour,I do love French language and culture, and cuisine described by you, but was it really necessary for the French to throw that “t” in the word for smurf (“schtroumpf”) making it what I would call unpronouncable??? And I thought German and Russian were bad lolol.
Btw, Northern Spirit, hope you’re checking this thread. I want to add a couple more Canadian musicians to my Honorary Canadian-ness fanship: Eric LaPoint, Jonas and that other cute guy from the Thursday night concert. Also, and more important still, did you notice that Adam’s new management is also the management of kdlang!!!! Maybe someday we will get that duet!!!
That was the idea, riskylady! It is funny and unpronounceable. It also has a germanic thing going on, a sort of dig at the Dutch Belgians. The Schtroumpf creator was a walloon. (French Belgian)
Bon anniversaire, jlurk!
Hope your birthday is entirely satisfactory, the opening act of a wonderful decade to come! I was so delighted to meet you at Ste Agathe!
Mwah!
I added links to the soundcheck videos up top. Very impressive ninja work by milkywayfairy! I remember thinking while in the venue, there is really nothing to prevent people from approaching through the woods from behind the place and taking in the show for free, albeit from a distance.
Am anxious to see if milkyway fairy will be giving us a recap of their adventure.
I second that. Please please tell the story!
Does anyone still have the link to the photo of the set list in the puddle? It’s up there (waves upthread) somewhere…thought I saved it but I didn’t.
Been watching firecealiens videos tonight without sound; just wanted to focus on Adam’s obvious joy on that stage – he is so expressive and animated, so much fun to watch! I watched some Moscow vids earlier – totally different vibe. Not better or worse, just different. Perhaps because here he is the headliner? Or because he obviously feels at home? Or maybe because Sauli is in the soundbooth? Or all of the above?
It was a hard day today but I’ll take two Adam vids and I’ll be fine by morning!
Kradamour, for you!
http://yfrog.com/gy9t8xcj
Thanks everyone for the Bd wishes. It has been a good day, now voting
for Sasha.
Thanks, nkd! You are so good at tracking things down, I knew I could count on you!
Did we already notice that the interlude got a new name? Erotica. Wasn’t it something like Tribal Segment for GN?
Kradamour, Tribal Segment was before Sleepwalker and Erotica was the interlude to Sure Fire Winners.
For GN, I mean.
thanks, Oksana. Can’t believe I have actually forgotten anything to do with GN already! sigh. 29 must be when your mind starts to go LOl…
Glambotgram, we have to get together during his next tour. Downtown Montreal was incredible for a foodie. We had several blocks of end to end restaurants to choose from. That was so great, but so hard to choose. The first night, ’cause we went from Tuesday to do extra sightseeing, twas riskylady, floridagirl, margie32127 and myself walking around trying to find a place to have dinner at. Such a wide range of choices, from all types of Asian, italian, regular fast food, brazilian, french, seafood, continental, crepes, caribbean, even ethiopian. We walked and walked and walked some more, read menus, kept walking, and everytime we said ok we’ll just look at the next two places, we kept saying there’s more over there, well, we’ll stop after that one, until I think we passed about 80 places and finally we crossed one more street and said last one and we stopped there. We all said this is it, too tired to go anymore and that was it. Turned out to be very good, continental cuisine, no one wanted to try the poutine with me so I had to wait until the next night when the others came. I shared an excellent ribeye steak with Margie, riskylady had chicken pasta that I had to taste of course. Very nice. floridagirl had some type of grilled chicken breast with veggies that was pretty good as well but I’m not a white meat aficionada That apple cobbler dessert was amazing though, more like a latticework slice of apple pie and of course a la mode was a given. Good bread too. Oh, how could I have forgotten my appetizer? Escargots in garlic butter of course. Yummmmmyyyy!! Now I made myself hungry.
Ron, speaking of treating Jlurksacto to Wendy’s and going all out: That’s where my hubby took me for our anniversary dinner last night!! To be fair to the poor man, I was trying not to go anywhere since I wanted to stay home and vote for Sasha, but did not want him to know the reason, so I just told him let’s get something fast since I was feeling tired. Was good. Hadn’t been there for a few months and they had a new wild berry parfait on the menu for dessert and it was very good, so worked out well. Had plenty of time at home to vote for Sasha!
The things we Glamberts do for the glamily.
The night before though, Libralady and I had met for dinner and she treated me (no hubbies there lol) to a pre-anniversary dinner at a new restaurant and it was excellent. Seafood medley appetizer with jumbo shrimp, scallops and a superb crabcake, then their house salad and a perfectly cooked
Chilean sea bass. She’s also from MJs. I love our glamily. Great fandom.
Cher…I’m a foodie too. Love trying out new restaurants. In fact I’m out right now with a friend waiting to be seated. Kind of an “all American” type… Burgers, chops, seafood. Not that hungry, though. May just get appetizers. I know how hard it is to find just the right place. Sounds like I would have gone crazy in Montreal starving and walking the streets.
Btw, cher, did I thank you for ordering that soup for me at the Spa Watel? Peeps… I was whining about being hungry and cher went to the waitress to get it for me before anyone started ordering.
Well, gotta go….later
Bringing MilkyWayFairy’s recap over from the August chat.
Hi Ron! Back home now. Thanks for bringing the recap over here. I think we have more recaps in the oven (please).
THANK YOU, milkywayfairy, for the recap and for the soundcheck vids! I loved reading the adventure and following you through the woods and swatting the mosquitoes! These vids are the best soundcheck vids ever – and I just love that you were so resourceful! Skilz indeed! I am so glad and grateful that you did this and told the story.
And what to my wondering eyes should appear but a minitu … nkd. NKD!!!
I’d spoken to nkd twice on the phone. I never saw her photo but I knew, I knew immediately when I opened the door, that I was looking at nkd. Neither one of us spoke. Of course it was only a few seconds, but it seemed to me that it was a full minute before I found my voice and said, (something-like) “I tend to not “live in the moment” and I want to always remember this moment with you”. Now this is the “moment” that I’ll always remember … our eyes locked … and then there were big hugs back and forth. “Come in, would you like … “Cher told me your room number … to have a drink?” … and I just couldn’t wait”. jlurksacto got his camera. In a video of Adam on YouTube, he’s going through different poses with a fan. At one point, he says, “Let’s do a Prom pose”. Without referencing this video, I said to nkd, “Let’s do a Prom pose”. In those kinds of high school photos, the guy puts his hands somewhere on the girls arm. I however put my arms around nkd’s waist and we both burst out laughing. Thank you jlurksacto for capturing that moment in time! I treasure that photograph! nkd didn’t have a drink-drink but I think she had a soda. There were more than a few times that “I can’t believe this is happening” were said. It was wonderful. Then there was another knock at the door and who walks in? CHER, along with riskylady, Florida Girl and Margie! I told Cher in an email that when we met I was going to give her the biggest hug known to anyone in all of mankind. She obviously remembered this because the first words she said to me were, “Go easy”. Soon to join us was ladybugs and last, but not least, nkd’s daughter Calli. I relive that time in that hotel room with all of us together over and over. Wonderful! Suddenly, we had to get down to some serious Cher business. Dinner! Florida Girl told me about the many miles that they traveled the night before looking for the perfect place to eat. I would have been happy to dine in the hotel’s restaurant but, the next thing I knew, we were out hunting for food. The patios and balconies of the restaurants we found ourselves among were bustling with people. The atmosphere, the feeling of being in Montreal, is tangible. Unique. Cher lead us to a very nice restaurant. Very nice. The waiter was a very nice guy but not a very good waiter. At the end of dinner, Cher suggested to jlurksacto that he order a Tia Maria coffee. He did. He never had one before and so, with each sip, Cher and I asked him, “How is it?” “Do you like it?”. He kept saying, “It tastes just like coffee”. After jlurksacto finished his Tia Maria coffee, the waiter brought him the Tia part! Dining with Cher is truly a cher-ing experience. “Oh, this is good! Who wants some of this?” “Riskylady, what is that? Looks good, let me try it”. “Ron, I want your liver”. LOL. It was a wonderful meal cher-ed with wonderful company in one of my favorite cities! Could it get any better than this?!??
Yes it could … and, oh boy, did it ever!!
Hey Ron, reading your post made me tired of my own name. I don’t like it anyway. Asked my mom if she didn’t have anything different to name me with at the time and she said that’s what my grandma liked. “rolls eyes”
riskylady, floridagirl, margie32127 and myself came back to our Montreal hotel a bit late that day. I had told nkd and ladybugs that I would try to pick them up at the airport. However, that morning Margie had read the tweet saying we needed to go get our tix stamped at St Agathe for earlier entrance and woke me about 9am that morning. I was so tired since I’d only had about 4 hrs of sleep if that much and I HATE driving. I was outvoted obviously 3-1 and off we headed for the over 3 hr roundtrip to St Agathe and back. Then we decided to head to Old Montreal for an hour or so before we had to pick up nkd and ladybugs. Well, our rental car did not have a navi system and our map wasn’t very good. Just had a human navigator in the front passenger seat by the name of riskylady. We almost ended up in Vermont according to one sign and New York on the other. Got on a bridge by accident at the same moment that riskylady said “Whatever you do, don’t go over the bridge!! lolol Too late. Then to come back, the bridge traffic was bumper to bumper and just not moving. By the time we stopped to ask directions and got back to Montreal, we had gotten caught in peak hour traffic and the airport was on the other side of town. Gave up. Told Nkd to grab a cab and the same to ladybugs an hour later. After that, I was pretty ok with directions.
When we got back to the hotel, we immediately went to Ron and Jlurksacto’s room, which wasn’t hard to find since it was the noisiest on that floor! I had told Ron to be careful when he hugged me since I wear my reading glasses around my neck like an old lady according to my son. I’ve lost a couple
that way when people hug me hard and break them! That’s when we met Ron, nekkid and Calli. Then we went off to find the HCP!!!
I’m entranced. Seriously. These stories from Montreal are like the missing link. Had no idea you guys went to Ste Agathe in a round trip to get your ticket numbers! and such adventures! And the “all” so wonderfully described! By now it seems like Ste Agathe and the concert was almost an afterthought!
Love love love these mini-recaps! This truly is the concert that keeps on giving!
Oh so much more to come with these recaps! I think this thread will be active until the next tour. Sometimes I think I’m done but then I’ll remember something else interesting (hopefully) that I want to recap. Such a wonderful time with great people. It may never happen again. At least that many from here all in the same place at the same time.
Riskylady, so sorry but I haven’t been on this thread lately, and I’m embarrassed to say I have yet to read thru this entire thread!
Your impeccable tastes in Canadian music continue to impress me. I’m honored to call you a fellow Canadian
I shall be back to this thread soon because I need to find some suggestions of sites to go to for good pics from the concert. What a great night that was!
Milkywayfairy, your saga in the woods was wonderful reading. Glamberts are truly indomitable and unstoppable in whatever quest they undertake, and this one was sooooo worthwhile, with the gorgeous soundcheck videos!! I just loved seeing Adam strolling the stage like any casual goofy tail-swishing shorts-and-flipflops wearing stagehand, but THAT VOICE issuing from that unprepossessing figure – surreal!
Bite your tongue, luval!
I’ve already started to prepare a vision for the next reunion…
Ouch! Just bit my tongue! Oh yeah, the reunion!
milkywayfairy…Just listened to the soundchecks again. How could you hold the camera so still and how could you not squeal omg omg omg, or kdd43 didn’t you want to scream out? I remember in Paris I was jabbing my elbow into Goatiegarden’s arm and screeching even though she was filming. Was so embarrassed!
Just wanted to say thank you all again for the great (and very descriptive) recaps. Makes me jealous all over again. I can’t wait till the next tour (or concert) when I might be able to tag along and write my own recap! I got really goods grades in creative writing, of course that was about a million years ago! Keep ’em coming!
Krad, I didn’t even begin to detail our adventure in St Agathe yet, trying to find the place to get our tickets stamped. We were so lost, but that lake is huge and and we did the full circuit..maybe more than once.. and saw some beautiful chalets and cottages nestled in and around the lake. Just such a pretty little town. I’d go back if Adam plays there again. I believe Adam would have had a larger crowd that night but Eminem was playing in Montreal the same night so many of the young people went there instead.
We went quite cluelessly to St. Agathe. No navi system. Not a good map. Good directions from the bartender at our hotel restaurant who happened to have a chalet in St Agathe (and there’s a long story to how we ended up meeting him as well-fortuitous I say) Followed his directions to St Agathe even though Montreal has the worst signage we’ve ever seen. Got there fairly easily..kinda…sort of…questioning ourselves quite a bit on the way there, but we made it without mishap. Again, such a cute town. Then to find out where to get our tickets stamped. Wasn’t easy. Tried to find city hall…only found the library and post office. Found our hotel for Thursday without meaning to.. lol…oh there’s SpaWatel…finally saw a souvenir shop sign and went to ask there for ticket box office. There were a couple of tables set up with souvenirs for the St Agathe festival and a nice lady there said that was the box office. She was the one that had addressed and stamped just about all the tickets that had been mailed out. (did I say small town? lol) Since we didn’t need tickets, but just the numbered stamps, she directed us to the trailer that was the box office at the venue site. Finally we got there and got our numbers, but by then we sure knew our way around St Agathe!! My number was 19 so we were amongst the first group of 50 to be admitted on concert day. Then it was back to Montreal to meet up with our other peeps. What a crazy few hours!!! Stopped at Tim Horton’s on the way back to get Pepsi and doughnuts to replenish my tired self. As I said before, I HATE driving and here in Miami, I live 5 minutes from work which suits me fine.
eta-working on my Ron page..lol.. scared, Ron?
OOOHH great reading today all the extra recaps and stories.
Ron I knew it was nkd lol
Cher you sure did a lot of driving for someone who hates to drive, even an extra drive to Ste. Agathe #dedication.
milkywayfairy loved the story in the woods, and the sound-check vids are amazing. I am in awe too that you weren’t squealing.
luval keep all little or big details coming
Why you would want to bore people to tears is beyond me! I’m not scared because I can always phone Mr. Cher at the restaurant and tell him what his wife was really up to in Canada. Proceed with caution.
Ooooh Ron I’m so skeered I’m shaking with fear! Even if he found out, he would just shake his head and sigh. He knows not to rock my Adam boat
So glad that this thread isn’t done yet. I need to start at the beginning and work my way through it, and then perhaps add my own experience, which doesn’t differ much from TLKC’s or KDD43 or Milkyway, except that I didn’t go ninja’ing in the woods. I was a good little girl relaying realtime info to them as needed…like when to get back to the line to get in their prized spot. I still can’t believe we got as close as we did to the stage having ticket numbers 154 to 157.
Two weeks ago tonight…it seems so much longer until I come to this thread and it is like it was yesterday! Thanks to all who are keeping it going with new tidbits and little recaps…speaking of which, I am working on part 3 of my recap, which will cover the pre-concert.
NS, everyone’s experience is different – different reactions/types of squeeing! – and different little things noticed or observed – and we need to hear them all!
Haha, don’t feel bad. I started from page 1 and got to about page 8, but then so much good stuff keeps showing up new that I just haven’t gone back. And, it’s very entertaining back there, too!!
Kradamour, if part 3 only takes us through the pre-concert, then we also have a part 4 to look forward to?
{{rubs hands together in anticipation}}
And, a Ron page from cher? Hehehe. Threats will get you nowhere, Ron. She’s deceptively clever. Just brace yourself and remember, it all comes from a good place.
I’ve read up to page 7 now and I have to say how wonderful it is to relive this concert, see it come alive again, from the beginning, from others’ perspective, and from our own. Now I see the importance of having concert threads separate from the chat ones.
I just want to point out this video of OOL – excellent video and sound:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeoSJ_YapQM
Loved that vid, turq. OOL has inspired so many “improved” versions, so many efforts to achieve studio perfection before it is available! and I am so grateful.
KRADAMOUR’S STE-AGATHE RECAP
Part 3: Pre-concert!
As this chapter opens, our hardy band is milling about outside the venue waiting for entry…the sun has come out, peeps are happy, soundcheck is in process, all is right with the world!
At 5 pm, not too many peeps. They are apparently enforcing the rule that no one would be allowed to line up early in the residential neighborhood. Hooray for that!
But there is a lot of concern about General Admission. Earlier in the day, when I had expressed concern that four hours was a very long time between entry and concert, Ron had immediately responded that with all of us together the time would fly by… that was so cheery and reassuring! And he said it so confidently, he was totally confidence-inspiring…but four hours is a very long time! GA can also stand for GawdAwful…And I couldn’t remember any food items available for sale the night before, only beverages. Would peeps let us leave our places to go to the toilet and return to our old places? Would peeps edge themselves in to the point where we polite peeps would find ourselves suddenly and inexplicably several feet behind our original places? How many peeps would be there? How many would the venue comfortably hold? Was Nekkid’s and my reconnaissance the night before valid for this concert? Is the spot we hoped to have really the best? We want to get everything right! Can we trust the venue peeps to do their part and get us in as they said they would, using our new entrance ticket numbers? Will peeps obey the rules?
And most important question: am I really here, or is this all a wonderful dream!?
Suddenly, peeps with bullhorns are saying incomprehensible things! What? What are we supposed to do? I wrinkle my forehead and listen intently and can’t even tell what language is being spoken. Okay, I’ll just try to remember what I was told when I got my numbered ticket. We will be admitted in groups of 50. I am in the very beginning of the 5th group…actually, I am #205. Thinking about the venue, how many peeps will fit across the stage…whether peeps will congregate on the closer side or will cut over to the side we have chosen…this.is.agonizing…but it’s actually okay because we are all here together and that is the most important thing. The first group goes to the entrance gate and waits patiently to have their tickets examined as they enter. Group two is called. Hmmm they seem to be doing groups of 100? Frankly I have no idea and don’t really care and can barely remember this part but suddenly I am in my place in line to go in! More waiting…the venue staff seems excited and happy, no frowns, no overbearing security peeps, it’s all good! The line finally moves in…some peeps dash, obviously wanting a place at Adam’s feet, but we have chosen to be farther back for better view of overall stage and better sound so we just move in smartly and find our places and we were right this is exactly the place to be! I see cher just a little bit ahead of us, there is a poncho or afghan on the ground marking their territory, will that be allowed? I hope so but it seems unlikely. Nekkid and her daughter are to my immediate left, and Ron and Adamized and Ceddies are also right with me…Ceddies has a ground cloth, a pretty purple one, and spreads it on the ground. Ron and Wendy and Nekkid and Adamized sit and make a little refugee camp on the groundcloth but I choose to stand, resting against the fence of the aisle to the soundbooth from the stage. I love this spot! The aisle provides a nice clear view of the stage that won’t be obstructed EXCEPT WTF IS THAT?! A peep ahead of me on the other side of the fence has a big fricking sign that says “BLOW ME A KISS ADAM” and she is obviously planning to use it, she is practicing! She is picking it up and waving it around, testing one two three…yes, it seems to work… and then placing it back against the fence… OFHS…….someone step on it please. Spill a soda on it. Set fire to it. “Oops, I’m so sorry, I don’t see how I could have missed it, silly me, oh is it all destroyed now? Such a shame, I ‘m so sorry”…okay fantasy over. I am not going to let that sign inflict negativity. Look away. Find good things to look at, and there is no shortage of goodness! I see eywflyer, tlkc, Northern Spirit…some peeps I can’t find now but I know that they are there.
I wander off, since it is obvious by now that this is a wonderful GA venue and I won’t have any trouble coming “home” to my spot. Lots of peeps are milling around happily – there is a hard core group at the very front, they are clearly defending their turf, but everyone from a few rows back is much more laid back, maybe because in this venue everyone has a good vantage point. Wandering around, I see lots of family groups, couples, men, women, children, all ages and flavors, what a good audience! Good mixture of French and English, Canadians and Americans…I am hoping that Adam will like the crowd and respond to us; I’ve been to a concert where he wasn’t excited by the audience, and it was as “meh” as an Adam concert could be. But I see real potential for OTT fandom in the front rows!
I decide to make the tour of the venue, looking at the souvenir booth. The usual Adam tee-shirts with high round necks, why no girl shirts? Never mind. Bumper stickers that say “Adam Lambert is my BF”. Okay, pretty vague. Boy friend? Best friend? Someone should give one to Sauli. The Ste Agathe en Feux souvenirs are cute but pricey. I’m attracted to an umbrella that fits into a wine bottle shaped case…in retrospect, that might have been prescient! But I didn’t buy it at $22.
Okay, getting closer to concert time…Ron was right, the time is passing quickly! Maybe a quick trip to try out the portapots before the concert…wow! Very clean and nice!
Back to my place – no trouble to return! – I take up my spot by the fence and notice that a new person is right in front of me. Luval and I exchange “Who is she?” looks, Luval shrugs and says that she just appeared and seems very determined to stay in that spot by the fence. Well, she is shorter than I am, no worries! (BTW: there will be more about her later!)
I look across the no-mans-land of the aisle between the stage and the soundbooth and there is a young woman who is bouncing and smiling so hard her face might crack! Luval and I call over to her – she is from Illinois and this is her first Adam concert! Her parents wouldn’t allow her to go to the GN concert in can’t remember which city but she convinced them that Ste Agathe was a safe place, no harm would come to her, and they allowed her to come – this was also her first plane trip! So excited for her!
I drape my jacket over the fence, assuming that one of the security guards tho pace the aisle will tell me to take it down…but no one ever does. There is a bottle of water in the pocket – earlier adamized (I think) had gone foraging for water and brought it to me.
Pre-show music…the good news is that there is no opening act to wait through. GA venues do not need time fillers. I still cringe at the memory of Orianthi before Adam in Norfolk, I thought she would never end… The bad news is that the pre-show music was not good. No, it was awful. Tuneless. We tried to get into it. Tried to dance. Tried to wave arms. Tried to sing along. Nope. Nothing. Can’t do anything with this music…but wait!!! Black Eyed Peas! YES! We get excited and sing and dance! Then…plummet. Another piece of lugubrious music. Why does the DJ hate us? He seems into it! He seems happy! Total disconnect between the DJ and the music he is playing. Where is Journey? Someone should have asked us what music to play! All of our hard-won expertise is going to waste!
It is getting dark. The jumbotrons are showing the sponsors of the festival. Oh, St. Hubert! They make the very best poutine sauce…Look! The logo for Spa Watel, our hotel!
Now the fenced aisle is filling up with photographer peeps who have huge fancy cameras on poles to steady them. The photographer standing next to me is nice, and he talks to us. His lens looks like a telescoping bullhorn. Tells us that he is only allowed to stay for three songs, then he has to leave. Interesting…what a deal with the devil. Excellent spot, but only for three songs. I think I might have to be dragged out kicking and screaming. It would not be pretty. (“Only three? I can’t stay?! No no no no no……ouch, that hurts!…..no, I can’t leave!…….heeeeelp!”)
Lots and lots of motion backstage…earlier, luval thought she caught a glimpse of Adam…curtains moving as peeps move around back there. The drums have been brought out…it is 9 o’clock, Adam, can you ever be on time for a concert? Sheesh…I suddenly remember the comment about him being on “girl time” and picture him getting ready to come out, doing makeup, hair…lol!…a peep comes out and tapes down the set list to the front of the stage with BIG pieces of tape! We all watch him as though he is the opening act and peeps applaud, he seems self-conscious but not in an uncomfortable way…now the tension is higher, Adam knows what songs he is going to sing so now please come out and sing them, Adam!!! We are restless but happy, it is twilight, and OMG that is Sauli walking down the aisle to the soundbooth he is literally no more than two feet away from us and it all happens so fast!!!! I catch the slightest glimpse of his face as he goes past, escorted by security peeps, and he is beautiful. Not only physically beautiful, that shows in the photos – but in person he has an aura. I felt him pass as much as I saw him. He was waving a little bit self-consciously, but radiating a sort of serenity, a person at peace with himself and open to others. Does this make sense? I don’t think I can explain it. But having been next to Adam, and experienced his aura, and now sensing Sauli go past…I am no longer annoyed by peeps who squee about everlasting love on the basis of a six months’ relationship.
Okay, back to the all-important concert and the fact that if Sauli is being escorted away from the stage to the sound booth, Adam must be ready to perform!!! We are too much in the moment to even wonder about his hair, his clothes, his footwear…we are bursting with anticipation and love and OMG the stage goes dark and we can almost hear the first bars of For Your Entertainment but is it real or are we just hallucinating and OMG IT IS REAL THIS IS THE CONCERT THAT WE HAVE ANTICIPATED FOR 84 DAYS AND ADAM IS STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STAGE FLANKED BY MONTE WITH A GLITTERY GUITAR AND TOMMY WITH A GLITTERY GUITAR STRAP AND ADAM IS GORGEOUS IN HIS SKINGRAFT LEATHER VEST AND BOOTS AND HIGH HAIR AND WE HAVE ADAM WITH US AGAIN IN PERSON AND NOT JUST IN VIDS AND HE IS HERE FOR OUR ENTERTAINMENT AND WE ARE COMPLETE!!!
(Yes, riskylady, there will be a part 4 – thank you for the encouragement and the clapped hands! )
kradamour….that last paragraph where you capitalized the letters sums up all my feelings I had that evening. Never in my life have I experienced such joy from a concert of all things. It reminded my of my feeling in Wilkes Barre, the first GN concert. In person! not just in video! OMG OMG. The feeling hit me again and I want to be in that place right now!!
Please continue with the next part whenever you can!
And the rest of you too!
Oh Kradamour the anticipation leaps right off the page. I so want to go to a concert that has this kind of energy. The only time I saw Adam was in Royal Oak and I feel like it was one that he was not feeling it from the audience. He was fantastic of course but I can see in other concert vids the difference in his performances when he gets that feedback from the audience. Great job and loved all the what ifs at the beginning.lol
Kradamour…incredible! I love reading your take on everything. I think we shared very similar feelings.
I just love it! I’m still not completely convinced that it all really happened!
glambotgram, thank you! and I am confident that you will have an awesome concert experience for the next tour. I really feel as though GlamNation was dress rehearsal for the fans. We made every imaginable mistake, and shared them on the concert threads. Now we know, and are prepared for the next tour. Cardinal rule: only go with other fans, even if you need to go alone, don’t take someone who doesn’t really care. Rule #2: be careful of the venue. Avoid venues that are likely to be full of Junior League types. If there is a nearby concert at an abattoir, go for it! Adam does best in the venues with a vibe, a little bit sleazy = better chance for hot concert. Rule #3: buy your own ticket first, then try to get tickets for other peeps. (See upthread for this rule!) Rule #4: don’t trust any floor plans online! Call the venue to see if they are adding seats to the front, etc. Rule #5: probably unsafe to buy tickets on stubhub that are in sections that could be on the far sides of the hall; often blocked by amplifiers, etc. even if you specify to exclude seats blocked by columns etc.
We learned all these things the hard way, and there are doubtless other rules that peeps shared.
Re energy…I am going to try really, really hard to be at the first concert of the new tour, as long as it isn’t on the west coast. Adam had to grow into Glam Nation – some of the early concerts weren’t as comfortable for him as the later ones – but he is so at ease on his stage now, no more canned/scripted patter. I really really want to experience again that pure joy that he beamed at us in Ste Agathe, after the long post-GN separation.
Thanks, kradamour for the play by play. I don’t feel so bad about missing the concert when you and others post your wonderfully detailed recaps.
I have only one comment: how could you put Adam and “meh” in the same sentence?!!!!
Kradamour Thanks to you (and others) for sharing such detailed recap of your concert experience. I think all who follow this thread would have love to be there with you. I know it take a good amount of time and thought to put words to all the things you experienced. I tried several times to recap the few GN concert that I experienced but found it almost impossible because each and every little detail meant so much, I didn’t know what to put and what to leave out.
However even at this late date I would like to share one incident that meant so much to me. You mentioned above about attending with peeps who really cared about bb. Well
I purchase 4 tickets to Costa Mesa the first day ( minute) the went on sale for me,
hubby, daughter in law and BFF, all of whom are card carrying AFL fans. They were
crummy seats! So, low and behold, a couple of days latter there were better seats, so I
bought them also. Then someone on twitter offered two MUCH better seat, much more
expensive but worth it so I bought them Too.
So, I ended up inviting several friends who we not especially fans. However, They really knew how I felt about Mr.L.
We went in three cars met early and had a tailgate picnic. We drank wine, everyone toasted me as Number 1 Adam fan, etc. I then regaled them with all the Adam trivia that I had learned from these thread. We separated for the concert and meet back at the cars where we drank the rest of the wine and bask in the afterglow of hear the wonderful one sing. In the end none of the non fans that I invited we converted to BSC fan like me but each and every one shared in making my experience totally wonderful.
