RE: Freddie – there is no doubt that Freddie’s death amplified his fans feelings for him but he is an original of the highest order. They do not make films about the lives of mid-level rock stars. They make them about the Beatles, Bowie, Freddie, Prince – most likely Cher (Bono, not ours) down the road. Even Mick Jagger might not make the cut.
The recent Bowie exhibit demonstrated what a cultural touchstone he was – I had no idea until I saw it. Freddie is a cultural touchstone, too, especially in the UK.
He had an incomparable onstage presence and Live Aid ratified that.
Freddie’s fans can be quite hostile and nasty but that is what fans do. They are protective to a fault. IMHO we are similarly protective of Adam and it is all to the good.
It can be horrible to read the comments section on Queen articles but the comments section in most columns are pretty horrible these days (recipe articles excepted.)
The magic of Freddie makes Adam’s achievement all the greater. I wouldn’t have him stepping into the shoes of anyone who wasn’t extraordinary.
ETA: as much as I am enjoying the Queen gig, I can’t wait for Adam to step back into his own shoes and offer us his own original self.

I heard from riskylady today. Their power got restored this morning. They got through the storm relatively unscathed. I’m sure she’ll check in and tell you about it later.

Hi all, and thanks. We and family lucky, made it through with just some tree damage and lost fence. Very scary storm, full of thunderstorms, lightening strikes, tornadoes and punishing wind. Also got power back this am at 8, when bedside lamps sprung on and woke us from hot sweaty sleep! Soooo sweet!
Nice to know other Fla ALLers ok too.
Just have to make it to Nov 30 end hurricane season.

If it means anything , I was with friends Fri night, his brother and family are in St Thomas, are ok. They are staying, much devastation, but they will stay put. Somehow they had enough power to communicate on friday afternoon. Maybe others do too…

The good news is that Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice are from the UK where Adam has made the right kind of impact as an artist. Also that the network is not ABC, where Adam has had some bad luck.
Adam has made no secret of his desire to play this role. His management has probably expressed his interest in the production.
Set for April 1, 2018. Fingers crossed.
Who would play Jesus?? He has to be a good singer. I saw a production a few years ago where the actor playing Jesus was weak.
Judas is a relatively small part but he delivers the blockbuster song. Adam would kill in that role.

Adam’s across the boards great reviews for “Rocky Horror” should have some weight, some merit, and count towards being considered for other projects. The movie itself and most cast members received mixed to out right pans. Adam was the only one who consistently was singled out with positive praise.
It should have led to, and maybe it will lead to, further offers. Namely Judas in JCS.

And yes Ron, Adam’s reviews for RHPS were the only good ones. As I recall.
He has received many offers for Broadway since Idol, most notably, that we know of, were for Spiderman, which went to Reeve Carney, a friend of Adam’s and RHPS Co -star, and Hedwig after NPH, which went to Darren Criss.
If anybody here is a fan of Hedwig, please look up my favorite song, Midnight Radio, by Darren. He does it justice. Love that song, it’s real rock, beautifully performed in the movie by John Cameron Mitchell, the writer and original star, by NPH on Broadway, and by Darren .
Adam would have slayed in Hedwig. SLAYED. But, QAL was beckoning. ALAS.

A concert at Carnegie Hall? A one week only engagement at Carnegie Hall?
As the song goes – if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere. Do something to hopefully make New York critics stand on their ears that would earn him lots of praise and draw lots of attention.
I’m in the process of finally – finally – once and for all getting my passport and Permanent Resident card renewed. PR application is already in the mail. Should all be finalized by the end of October.
Am looking to maybe going to Prague on November 1st (no, I’m not).
But, I’d go to Carnegie Hall.
