As summer draws to a close, the fall season heats up with appearances by Adam at the iHeartRadio Music Festival with Queen, on the new album “True” by Avicii and on the new season of “Glee”. A triple threat: live, on CD/MP3 and on your TV! He may not be officially working on new music but we do know that he always has something going on.

    There is one absolutely perfect track in “Lay Me Down,” featuring vocals from “American Idol” alum Adam Lambert. If 2013 needs a dance anthem playlist, this is track No. 1. Hands down.

    But now…let’s have some Adam music. Queenbert is its own thing, and LMD is Avicii with Adam’s vocals, but to many peeps, it is just Avicii.

    Can’t wait for Glee! I have watched almost all of the first four seasons (whew!) Ready for the next!

    But I am wondering about the total silence about Adam music, and he is so busy with other projects.

    Also, while I was away there seems to be another tattoo? (groan)
    Okay, whatever. Can someone point me to the page where we presumably simultaneously flailed and bitched?

    I miss ALL and y’all but I am working hard at pulling things together in RL. Much progress is being made!
    And I am grateful for those who keep me more or less in the loop.

    There was another song we did with Adam. It was about going down on a girl. He was like “well it’s not for me, but I’ll sing it. I’ll do it for the people, I’ll go down for the people” One way or another we all go down!

    There was some other stuff in the interview too.

    One of the tracks on True that we are hoping is the next single is “Lay It Down” with Adam Lambert. What was it like working with Adam?

    It was great. Adam has an amazing voice. More than anything, he’s also a great writer. But his voice is just insane! He’s like a reincarnation of Freddie Mercury. Actually more like a mixture of Freddie Mercury and Robert Plant.

    Is that what attracted you to working with Adam? His showmanship as a performer?

    Yeah, I think so. It was Nile Rodgers that kinda had the connection with him and brought him down to put the vocals on a demo that Nile and I did. We weren’t even intending to have him sing on the final track. But then he did such an amazing job on the demo, we were like, “Why go look for someone else? It’s brilliant as it is.”

    I can’t believe that Adam was originally called in to do only the DEMO for LMD. Lucky Adam was in town that week and lucky that he and Sam tweeted Nile way back when. It’s astounding how much of a role luck plays in everything. If Adam hadn’t been asked to present at the MTV Awards, his Avicii collaboration would never have happened.

    Very curious about the “going down on a girl” song. When Adam said it was not for him, did he mean just the girl or did he mean singing the song, too? I am totally happy with him singing a song about going down on a girl. If he did the demo only, I will be very sad.

    Glad you enjoyed the Bowie exhibit, Ron. Anyone coming to Toronto who wants to see it, let me know. It runs ’til November 26th. My membership includes a guest pass and allows as many visits as you want.

    The show is all about Bowie but it pulls togther the strands of his many influences into an amazing cultural portrait of the UK in his formative years. Everything from John Osborne’s “Look Back in Anger” to David Lynch’s “Elephant Man”. So densely packed with cultural references that it’s a bonus if you are “29-years-old”.

    I sent Ron some photos of him standing beside the wall mural at the AGO’s entrance. Expect to see his avatar changing momentarily.

Betcha he DELIBERATELY asked Adam to come in and do the demo, even pestered him to conquer his hangover, just knowing that Avicii would be unable to resist that voice. He is only human, after all, not an alien from Planet Fierce. Poor guy was ambushed! Love Nile! And now, love Avicii… He is a full-fledged Glambert lol.

    One comment about Adam and his concerts. He HAS to start playing longer than 90 minutes (and sometimes not even that long). He has enough material and it is a complaint I have and I also hear it a lot. It is weird. Even Avicii’s show was a little over 2 hours. I don’t get it. Of course, I will happily go, just really wonder why he plays such short shows.
