I am at my mom’s place and will be around in the morning when I’ll wake up. There’s probably no way for me to watch the show, but I read your comments, try that Brazilian radio station and hope for vids afterwards. I’d love to see the whole festival, at least some performers.

Agree with risky lady on the Queen set. The insider gave us fairly explicit info. Fun. will sing STL and share FBG.
My guess is that this latest rumour has been caused by moving Fun. to second last on the bill for seamless equipment moves. They will do their set, sing STL with Queen, Adam will join them all for FBG and they will leave the set after that. Wonder who the mystery guest is.
We always knew there would be guest stars. We pretty much hoped for Bowie and George Michael-types, I guess, so it’s a bit of a shock to see another hot young singer on the stage. NVM. Adam will throw it down where he needs to. Do you doubt it?
Couldn’t it be that the fun. singer is the mystery guest? Why should we think that there will be 2 singers with Queen in addition to Adam?

Must say I agree with aely…I really like Fun, Nate Ruess’s voice is great, but I don’t want them singing with Adam and Queen…….but I’m sure they don’t give a toss what I think!!!

Last I saw, fun. is performing much earlier in the evening and I haven’t seen anything except for one unsubstantiated rumor about the two bands merging. Queen’s site said that Nate Ruess will be singing with Queen, not the whole band. As people have said before. Brian and Roger adore Adam and they won’t do anything to belittle him. It’s not like they are in a position where they need to bend to pressure from the show’s organizers. There is, of course, no comparison between the two voices, but if this guy is very popular right now, maybe singing with him will get Adam some new fans.

I like fun. too, but no way will Nate sing STL like Adam can. fun. is one of my daughter’s favorite bands, and she played their music for me years ago and my first reaction was that they had a Queen type sound and Nate had a voice similar to Freddie’s. He does not have the range of course. It is what it is and all will be fine. Adam is going to shine on that stage no matter who else is up there.
And I recall Brian saying recently that there were a couple of special guests. So perhaps someone else not yet mentioned.
It still seems strange to me that Queen would come to Las Vegas for a 35 minute set with no future plans. Maybe my desire for more concerts to happen in North America is coloring my thoughts, cuz I really really want this!
I absolutely love the character name Starchild for Adam, if the rumor bares out. So perfect. What will this character be?
And asif, I haven’t been away on purpose, just crazy schedule right now. I probably won’t be around tonight when the show is on as we are travelling today, visiting daughter at college and then on to babysit for the weekend. I need to sleep to be able to keep up with the 2 year old tomorrow. 29 ain’t what it used to be!

thanks guys…better go shopping in the morning, get a couple of days worth of stuff in. These typhoons normally reduce in strength a bit once they hit land, and it should hit Taiwan before us, so should be downgraded to a typhoon by then instead of a super typhoon……but if its going to hit, keep your fingers crossed for a T8 on monday moening…then we all get the day off work!!

On the bright side, I guess it will be good for Adam to show that he can adjust and not overpower a less powerful singer, like he did with lovely Angie (which garnered him a nice favorable mention by the very picky Caramanica (sp?) in the NYTimes)! He just got another one in the NYTImes #TRUE review, so they may be warming up to him. Yay!

Hi gang – thought I’d better come out of lurking and let you all know that I’m still alive! Real life has been kicking my butt lately between work and family demands and I’ve barely been able to keep up with lurking, much less posting. But I’m here!
I seriously considered joining the ALLers in Las Vegas tonight, but ultimately decided that the timing was really wrong for my family and the expense too much. But my spirit is with all of you there! I know it’s going to be a blast, seeing all of those big acts in the same show, capped off by the fabulosity of Queen + Adam. It will be fantastic.
I know people have mixed feelings about Nate/Fun joining in on the fun, but special guests joining Queen on stage (with or without Adam) is not news to us, only that it’s Nate and Fun. I think Bri and Roger are going to ensure that it’s a great show no matter what. And if Adam and Nate sing together, then we get the Fun fans introduced to Adam, too, so that’s cool.
I’m loving LMD a lot. So funky! Cute moment: I was listening to LMD while cooking dinner with my daughter, and my husband walked into the kitchen from the garage and immediately started boogying down to LMD. Like he couldn’t help himself. LOL

Hmmmm. I’m sticking with my plot line that I proposed a long time ago. Adam is an AWOL glam rock star of a band that Rachel and Curt stumble upon in an underground club. Curt in Glee world style gets pulled onstage and takes over, until, Adam resurfaces from auditions and landing the role of Nicky Arnstein opposite Rachel, thus Adam becomes Curt’s nemesis on two fronts, musically and in friendship with Rachel.
On another front, I’m absolutely on pins and needles about tonight. I feel like he has so much at stake tonight.

Me too, mils! I know he’s going to kill it, but I always get nervous before a high-stakes performance. Less so now than I used to, because he nails it every single time, but still… High stakes tonight.

I think the writing credits would still be handled like they are on singer’s cd’s – i.e. we can see that Dr. Luke wrote FYE on Adam’s first cd because it’s in the liner notes. Few people read liner notes, which is probably why Dr. Luke wanted to be on Idol (lol!) A songwriter-composer doesn’t get a lot of public credit BUT there is big consolation in terms of royalty money if his/her song becomes a hit.
The difference here is that Avicii’s manager has come up with a situation that elevates the arranger/DJ and relegates singers to the level of session musicians. A good comparison would be Orianthi: she was in high demand, worked with Michael Jackson and delivered a star turn on Sleepwalker. A distinctive guitarist with amazing talent but strictly a backroom presence.
Avicii’s manager is a brilliant businessman but if this turns out to be a trend – it will not be good for singers.
This is exactly where I see it as a problem. I want an overpowering Adam.

firsttimerob – Adam is listed in the liner notes with songwriting credit, so he will get royalties and would share in any awards for the songwriting (e.g. Grammy for Song of the Year). Not sure about whether he would share in a Grammy for Record of the Year, which is about the performance of the song. mils’ report of what her car reader says about WMU (“Avicii with Aloe Blacc”) suggests that maybe he would, but I don’t know.

cwm Last week BBC1 had Avicii guest host a whole hour of their dance music show. It was the same evening as the iTunes concert where he performed (and ended his show with LMD). He played all of the songs from True and when he played Lay Me Down he said that it was his favorite track on the whole album. I guess that after that, the station is continuing to play the song.
Must go to sleep now so that I can get up in time to see Adam and Queen! YAY!
