As summer draws to a close, the fall season heats up with appearances by Adam at the iHeartRadio Music Festival with Queen, on the new album “True” by Avicii and on the new season of “Glee”. A triple threat: live, on CD/MP3 and on your TV! He may not be officially working on new music but we do know that he always has something going on.

Listening to #TRUE all the way through, and have to say I like it. It’s like Adam’s albums, very eclectic, different texture voices and varied enough melodies to keep from getting bored. I love dance/trance music anyway, that’s what I’ve always worked out or walked to. I can see how Avicii and Adam would become friends as well as with Nile – I think they all share a similar musical aesthetic and like organic sounds (even with Avicii’s EDM production). Ulti, I wouldn’t give too much credence to that Glee article. It has been said by Chris Colfer himself that Adam will be his nemesis, and Adam has said he will be on Glee “this fall.” He knows what his contract says, at least. Murphy said “joining the cast.” You can’t be a nemesis with 2 songs and one episode. Maybe he will sing with the New Directions, but that’s not exclusive – there seems to be a LOT of singing on Glee.

Brian May has got to be one of the sweetest geniuses on the planet!!!! A monumental tower of goodness and brilliance.

The funky Rodgers inspired rhythm pulsates through the track, but it’s not what defines “Lay Me Down”. It’s Lambert’s glam rock sound loaded with attitude that steals the song away. Lambert captures your attention early and refuses to let go. It doesn’t matter how similar the melody may be compared to “Wake Me Up”, this track is guaranteed to be win Tim Bergling and company a Grammy.

As someone who has studied art history I often think of Adam and his career in terms of popular, contemporary art as opposed to great art that lasts through the decades, or centuries. In every era the market is flooded with contemporary art that is widely accepted and praised, that everybody buys and loves, but it is interchangeable and forgettable and doesn’t last the test of time. And then there are the real artists, the trailblazers, who are usually shunned by the masses, but recognized by the knowing few for the geniuses that they are. The mediocre popular artists are threatened by them and they try to keep them down (while their teachers often take credit for their work), but if they can find away to get the support of significant and influential “patrons” they can break through. In the end, the ones who are remembered are the real artists, not the popular ones.

As nice as it would be for Adam to get lots of radio play and to become popular with the “masses”, the support and praise by people such as Brian May, Roger Taylor, Nile Rogers, and the other “people in the know” is just so much more meaningful , to me anyway.

I agree with your morning musings. I also appreciate high those people you mentioned, because they have been “there” for a long time, also during times when real music and singing mattered. I am old fashioned in that sense, I love real music over the show entertainment, which doesn’t mean it couldn’t be very good musically too. I have never liked, or rather listened to dance music before. I couldn’t connect to it, but the funny thing is that the past few days the song that is going through my head (including waking up to it in the morning) is LMD, replacing Adam’s other songs. Could be because I have heard it so much lately. When I listened to the BBC1 dance radio show that Avicii hosted, I wasn’t crazy about the music that he played (except for the stuff from True), but I have to say that I really enjoyed watching his ITunes concert from that night…

Yep me too, for me good dance music is old or with rocky beat Queen makes me dance, but also Adam’s Trespassing upbeat songs especially Shady. Love wake me up, so maybe I am changing too Or expanding I would say Avicii’s songs are very good to be EDM. No wonder why he is so popular!

Woke up to the wonderful news that someone had gifted me LMD on iTunes. LOL, she could have saved herself the money. I am going to go out a look for a hard copy of the full cd this weekend. The snippets are amazing. Such an eclectic collection. Adam was before his time with FYE cd.

I love that Avicii and Nile have worked on 9 songs altogether and hope to goodness that Adam is performing on ALL of them.

I would rather see Adam follow his heart musically than see him get a #1 singing something he wasn’t really into. But #1 or even Top 10 would be nice.

Apparently, the singer of HB sang the theme song in George Clooney’s film “Oh Brother Where Art Thou” and this new song is a development of that. The score to that film was a big seller – very beautiful – so HB has a built-in following. It is also in the same vein as Wake You Up.

It’s interesting to see how well Adam’s two “big loves” are doing. Brad’s Husbands is getting more and more mainstream attention. It was written up in the biggest Toronto daily newspaper about a month ago as part of the online phenomenon. It’s doing very well and he is adorable.

Now Sauli is jumping into TV with both feet and doing pretty well with it.

Adam may be as much of a sucker for beauty as the rest of us but he seems to be very good at sussing out bright, funny, energetic, industrious and motivated men.

Got tickets for NYE. Tried to see if I could get better ones and the VIP’s were sold out within 6 minutes. I never know if it is better to wait for the public sale and try for first row and risk the scalper pricing or is it better to pay face value and be 15 rows back. Just got back from the dentist. Just before he started, I heard Faith by George Michael. As he started to drill, I hear WWFM. I instantly relaxed, knowing that Adam was with me (I know, corny but true). Next, the radio station played Stay and I thought of Adam’s version. What were the chances that those three songs were played in a row?

BTW, talked with my sister. She doesn’t have tickets to either of the concerts, just the Festival shows. Her hubby likes AWOLNation which I don’t think I know. Said if the prices drop, she’ll get tix. Down to $379 when I looked this afternoon, which is a lot better than $500 but still ridiculously overpriced IMO!

So…while I was at the hair salon this morning, guess what the Duke did? Got on ALF with a seatmap of WinStar event center and got VIP tickets! He has much better luck than I do. We are 8 rows back CENTER VIP!. Oklahoma ‘s not exactly where I thought I’d be on NYE but what the heck. Another chance to see Adam; who knows when there’ll be more? Looking forward to seeing nkd and aely and hoping more from ALL might join us!
