I think that “Trespassing ” should’ve been the first single and “Cuckoo” second. Instead we got lame BTIKM and NCOE. Trespassing is great concert song and a mission statement, but not hummable at all. Cuckoo is an earworm and judging by what is popular right now it would be a perfect summer song.

And fan videos when creatively combined could make an inexpensive MV.

Trespassing makes sense in that its the title track of the album, so will help to get the album name out there. When I first played the album, Trespassing was the song my 10yo put on repeat.
Re the pro video for the LA matinee performance, although the sound quality is great, I prefer the visuals of libractas, the pro video kept cutting his crotch and legs off!!
HK fan…ITA! I didn’t care for that pro video. I liked all the fan videos so much more.
MJ has a thread up for the new single. The combining of the fan videos is a nice idea but people might think he’s copying Kelly Clarkson from her Whatever Makes You Stronger video.
Although I liked NCOE, I remember how long it took me to like BTIKM. I couldn’t even get the title straight forever! Trespassing is so much fun. Love it.

It is not surprising that there are not a lot of comments on the new single. I’m so jaded now. I am tired of wondering whether radio will play it. I guess it’s because of the Idol bubble here, for me anyway. It’s now up to forces outside of this bubble. Beyond our control I think. Calling radio stations and requesting?…don’t know anymore. VH1? bums. Adam doing radio station promos? I guess up to him & RCA. Whatever it takes, I want it to work.
I just want Adam to have a single that people will love and that it will help sales of the album. I really want to be driving down the street, turn up the radio…LOUD & hear our boy singing Trespassing!

Me, too luval but, if radio won’t play Adam (and a lot of other people) then he might as well do what he wants and I believe that this is his choice – he finally got one. Just going to copy and paste what I wrote on MJ’s because I really mean it:
“Adam has done introspective and dancey. It’s time for him to rock the boat.
Trespassing is Adam’s “Song of Myself”: it’s rock but it’s beat, it’s defiant but it’s joyful, it’s in-your-face but it’s affirmative.
Musically, it’s an incredible synthesis of so many different muscial genres: rock, folk, protest, Broadway, rockabilly and rap (in a Dylaneque “Positively 4th Street sort of way.) It is a melange of sounds that only two such disparate artists as Adam and Pharell could have come up with. For me it is magic.
I know that I would have loved this amazing song as soon as I heard it, WHOEVER had sung it. It burns my *ss that RCA was so stupid about it.

I just think that this song deserves the full treatment, not a cut-rate video. Jlurksacto may be right – the $$$ might be coming out of Adam’s pocket but that is sad – it means that RCA may not be 100% behind it.
One of the comments on mj’s brought up the fact that there is a flood of singles coming out in the fall. Xtina, Kesha, Pink, Usher, Gavin, Daughtry, Gaga, Bruno…others. All competing for that radio play. But I love this comment. Hope it’s ok to carry over here.
BTW…sounds like judge picks for Idol is a hot mess. Ron posted on the previous page a TMZ article about this. Other than TMZ, all is quiet right now.
In the back of my mind, however, IMO I really think everyone they are going to sign is signed and will come out with some sort of a press conference very soon.

About the Trespassing video–
I think the MVs have always been paid for by the artists. The cheapest way to go would to just put together a montage of his various live performances, or create a new one. That way they don’t have to pay anyone for the rights to use their video clip or signed clearances from anyone who might appear in a video clip.
Instead, I agree with a poster on MJs who said that this video contest was a great way to generate buzz for the song. If any of the videos go viral, his song gets out there without having to kiss up to the radio stations. Plus he’s got the PLL performance coming up too. It really sounds like they are going to pull it off this time. He doesn’t need radio to do it. And now that he doesn’t need them, radio stations may outdo themselves jumping on the bandwagon at last. If everyone is talking about Adam and Trespassing, they will have to play it or face accusations of being discriminatory against a popular singer whose album debuted at #1 on Billboard and who had a song from the last album nominated for a Grammy. Got my fingers crossed (and it ain’t easy to type that way!)
