It’s time for our September chat thread. Hopefully this will be the final relatively quiet month before Adam’s new single is released. As always, please keep the posting guidelines in mind, and welcome any newcomers. Enjoy!

I believe Adam’s episode will air in October. I think Jordan will be on this one.

  2. luval says:

    Thanks Adamized!

  3. Ron says:

Nice! Bringing this here from an article on the Entertainment Weekly site. It’s a dialogue between contributing writers Kate Ward and Adam B. Vary comparing “American Idol” to “The X Factor”.

At one point, Kate Ward writes:

KW: But do you know what else it was missing? Mind-blowing talent. Sure, I understand the X Factor concept is different: We’re watching the process of an underdog being turned into a star, not someone already gifted with the full package. But who wants to watch a show about okay singers? Not one of the advancing contestants on last night’s premiere made my jaw drop. Heck, on Idol, they wouldn’t have even made any of the judges’ jaws drop. Last night, did we see a Carrie Underwood? Kelly Clarkson? Adam Lambert?

Wow. Thanks Ms. Ward for including Adam in your very short list of whom you consider the most impressive ‘Idol’ contestants. You put Adam in very good company!

  4. Kradamour says:

OMG The cropped photo by scorpios4adam…better than most of the professional head shots I have seen!
Love love love all the goodies from PR…Adam was amazing, and was obviously both having a really good time and working hard and seriously.
Especially enjoyed his interaction with the kid who did the zipper crotch pants.
And that amazing jacket…wonder if we might see Adam in something similar, or if he would even ask the kid to make him one out of real leather? THAT would be incredible.
Wish we could have been flies on the wall for the entire judging portion. Would love to hear what Adam had to say during the time that they were making the final choices.

  5. Kradamour says:

    Ron, loved that “short list”!

  6. Kradamour says:

I just watched that Insider interview…can’t get enough of articulate engaged Adam! and noticed that he had to talk about the first album cover again…he takes criticism very seriously and remembers it. There certainly was criticism over that album cover! and in several interviews after the initial hoopla he was verging on defiant – this is what I want and if you don’t get it, get over it – but here he is almost sheepish when he talks about it, and he is the one who brings it up. Seems he has been thinking about that criticism as he plans this new album.

  7. cwm says:

New postings are up of extended judging from Project Runway:

    of Anya: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7_hKKBj5qk&feature=youtu.be

    of Joshua: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBO-fibi9NA&feature=youtu.be

  8. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

Just want to add that I loved Adam on Project Runway. PR has been a favorite of mine and my kids since its beginning, so having Adam make an appearance as a judge was a win-win for us. His charm and intellect are so powerful – it was great seeing the tweets from Nina and the contestants proclaiming their love for Adam!

This may have already been mentioned, but Adam sort of had ties to Project Runway – Brad Walsh, who produced several of the EP Remixes, is (or was, don’t know if they’re still together)in a relationship with Christian Siriano, PR Season 4 winner.

Did anyone else notice the cute “over the shoulder” glances Anthony Ryan and Joshua gave Adam as they left the runway? Too cute! Smile

  9. ultimathule says:

Each time Adam states that this album will be more personal – events going on in his own life – I get a frisson of anxiety remembering David C. say the same thing about his album. That fear is assuaged somewhat when looking at Adam’s collaborators – he obviously knows what’s current and what’s likely to be played on radio. And he seems very confident that his fans will love it – I’m sure they will – but it’s radio that may still be reluctant to embrace him wholeheartedly. Can only wait and see.

And, hate never dies with regard to Adam – the WSJ’s review of PR has one poster calling Adam an “aging rent boy.” So despicable.

Left a comment of my own – lol.

  10. nkd says:

the WSJ’s review of PR has one poster calling Adam an “aging rent boy.”

What does that even mean? “aging rent boy”???

  11. nkd says:

In regards to the talent on PR this season, I agree that this group does not seem to be among the most talented this show has produced. However some of the challenges they have been given have not lent to the expression of great design. But it does make them have to think out of the box, which some have failed to do.
Adam was a great fit with this show. He looked as if he was enjoying himself but was serious about the critique, holding his own with the fashion world panel. Yes, Nina is a glambert! Recently converted or longtime? I wonder!

  12. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

nkd, I took the “rent” comment as a reference to the broadway show.

  13. Kradamour says:

No, a “rent boy” is a gay male escort. Frown

  14. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

Aww, I like my thought better, although I’m sure yours is what the writer intended, kradamour. Frown

  15. nkd says:

No, a “rent boy” is a gay male escort.

Well that is just extremely rude, especially for a major publication as the WSJ. It is very offensive. Adam did such a great job as a guest judge, how sad to have that tarnished by such a comment. Frown

ETA: I misread ultimathule’s post. That remark was from a comment left about the article. Now I understand better. There will be those I suppose. It is still rude and offensive however.

  16. Kradamour says:

Very rude and very dismissive of his talent and very demeaning.
But it shows how far Adam still has to go, doesn’t it?

It has set me to thinking about his “personal, real” CD. He has said several times that it is directed to his fans, for us who have put him where he is, etc.
There is risk there. I would almost rather that this was his third CD after a commercially hugely successful sophomore album that would extend his fanbase into the realms of the uninformed or misinformed or simply uninterested. A couple of radio hits that are so huge that they cannot be ignored (and must be played) even by the radio stations that have never played him.
We talk about WWFM as though it was a blockbuster hit – but it wasn’t, really. It did very well, it was nominated for a grammy, but it wasn’t on all the stations, and even on the stations that played it, it wasn’t in as frequent rotation as many others. And a lot of the success was due to the existing fandom and others who know Adam’s backstory and took the song to heart and broke out the blue glowsticks.

Having said that, I am DYING for the new album, and confident that we will love it. But I hope that it will be a strong balance between a vocal and lyrical gift to his existing fans and at least a couple of hook-y, earworm-y, easy to sing along to and very danceable mega radio hits. Counting on savvy Adam to know that and create a killer album with a catchy title and great cover art! Smile

  17. ultimathule says:

Looks like we’re on the same page with regard to the album, Kradamour. (Eber’s “gut” tweet still bothers me.)

  18. nkd says:

There is no reason that this personal album cannot also be a huge hit. He did say that it is reflecting where he is now and that the vocals would be up front, which makes me very happy. I know that he wants to be “successful”, but I also think that the quality of the product is utmost important to him. Adam needs to be proud of what he releases. He seems very excited about it, that excites me! I soooo want the success for him, but some of the crap that gets played over and over on the radio stupefies me. Let’s hope that will be changing soon!
I love OoL and his voice singing it, but I want to see Adam dance, so the dance music makes me happy! Smile

  19. ultimathule says:

For all else to follow, success must come first. Please yourself, please your fans, but, most important, please the wider audience that’s necessary to continue a career.

  20. luval says:

    What is Wsj?

  21. nkd says:

I agree with Kradamour and ultimathule, my post was not meant to be opposing. I’m just trying to keep positive expectations for the new album! Smile

  22. nkd says:

    luval, Wall Street Journal.

  23. luval says:

    Thanks nkd.

Hi Ron..Thanks for that EW online. I totally agree with that. The talent is just mediocre. I probably will watch it but only if there’s nothing else on. And of course LOVE the Adam mention!

And Kradamour, your assessment of the new CD is pretty much what I’ve been thinking. I hate it that I’m a Debbie Downer! And I’m getting to the point that I don’t care when it is released. I’m just hoping it’s as good (to me) as Adam says it will be.

  24. luval says:

Am I allowed to bring this over? It’s part of a post on mj’s thread regarding Adam and PR. I love reading things like this where people “weren’t familiar with this side of Adam”:

I was really impressed by Adam. I don’t follow him that closely but watch the video or the the articles that MJ’s provides – which I do for all the Idols (well – mostly). But this provided a side to him I hadn’t seen before. He’s very relaxed on camera and articulate. I follow all the PR peeps on twitter as I love the show and they were tripping over themselves in their praise of him and I haven’t seen that in the past from them.

  25. Kradamour says:

    Thanks, luval! loved that post.

Just got my PennyRoyal fleur de lis earrings…I LOVE them! Amazing quality workmanship.
And nekkid just texted me a photo of her lovely neck with the Trevor pendant around it..gotta say, I like it and the leather cord has a nice retro hippie vibe thing going on. Sigh. Might have to get one. I think I would even wear it. Maybe it is just the lingering effects of last night’s PR, but I’m feeling the hippie thing today… Smile

ETA: you are right about the PennyRoyal boxes, luval. Very cool! Smile

  26. luval says:

Yes, well constructed boxes, kradamour. Smile

  27. nkd says:

I got my Peace pendant today. Well, yesterday, but I got home late and opened it this morning. I love it. It’s much lighter and smaller than I thought it would be, which I like.
The packaging is very nice! Very cool, indeed! Smile

    http://twitpic.com/6pgh5v

  28. luval says:

Nkd…it looks very dainty. The infinity pendant was the same way. Now the eye of horus was a massive (exaggerating lol) hunk of silver. Still my favorite although seeing your peace pendant makes me think again about buying. I have a little time.

  29. nkd says:

luval, I love it! I had some reservations about it, but took the plunge. It is extremely comfortable. I don’t even notice it around my neck, except when I have to touch it, which I do a lot! Smile
    It feels very dainty!

I wonder when Mr. nkd will notice it. Next year sometime? Wink

  30. HK fan says:

    nkd,
the necklace does look really nice on, its smaller than I imagined too. When I’ve seen a couple of photos of it on its own I thought it looked quite big and bulky, but I like it on you. I would wear it, especially with the black leather.
And thanks cwm for all the extra PR clips, Adam looked and sounded gorgeous. He’s always so interested and focused in everything he does. And the judges and contestants certainly have been doing a lot of flailing over him.

  31. nkd says:

The pendant is the size of a nickel, exactly. It’s very nice! I will be wearing it a lot. Smile

  32. luval says:

Now ya got me measuring. My infinity pendant is the size of a quarter and my eye of horus is the size of a Canadian toonie…the 2 dollar coin.

I think these pendants may all be slightly different in size because the edges are jagged. Except the eye of horus has pretty smooth edges.

  33. Kradamour says:

Nekkid, you are great publicity! wonder how many new pendants will be sold because of your post and pic? Smile

  34. luval says:

Wonder if we’ll hear anything about the ratings from PR last night.

I’m pretty sure if I get a pendant it will be the bronze one. I need something different than silver but will wear them all together.

  35. Kradamour says:

I like the idea of wearing them together, especially if one is bronze.
    I would have liked copper.
    Picky, picky, picky… Smile

Site says about 35K has been contributed by pennyroyal to the Trevor project. At 30% of sales, that means that Adam has generated over 100K in sales.

  36. luval says:

Majors and Minors starts now but I as Adamized said, Adam is probably on an episode in October.

    1/2 second Adam sighting.

  37. adamized says:

Good evening everyone! Got my PennyRoyal peace necklace today and LOVE IT!!! I too was worried that it would be bulky but as nkd said, it is very dainty. I love how it feels and plan on wearing it all the time. I did end up putting it on a very thin silver chain vs. the leather string I purchased. This way it is even less obtrusive for every day wear. Wouldn’t it be funny if all Glamberts started recognizing eachother by our jewelry? I’m still hoping to run into some of “our kind” around town.

  38. ultimathule says:

8:20 p.m. EDT – just read above luval post – Adam will be on in October. Can now stop watching “The Hub.” Thank god – these last 20 minutes have been dreadful (too many precocious kids). And thank god for youTube – won’t have to suffer through these performances to get to Adam.

  39. luval says:

haha ultimathule…Felt the same way about those kids. Switched to Kitchen Nightmares.

So you all have forced me to buy the bronze pendant. It’s “in the mail”. So that means I’ll have the Eye of Horus pendant, earrings and ring, the infinity pendant and now the bronze peace (still ugh) pendant. I am actually excited for it to come! 5-6 weeks…maybe sooner. I really love the eye of horus ring. I wear it on my middle finger with other silver rings and get many compliments on it.

For anybody interested,( Ron ) I’m listening to these with goosebumps. From Glee. Via Mj’s.
Funny Girl. West Side Story. Babs. Sigh.

  42. dcglam says:

Just love, love, love Lyndsey Parker — the ultimate Glambert!

  43. milwlovesadam says:

Love Lyndsey parker too! Adam was so great on PR. Love the recaps and tidbits.

And. For what it’s worth. I do like X Factor, if for only one reason. I just love Simon. And Paula. Together. I also happen to find him very sexy. ( Don’t shoot me. I’m not alone in this I’ll tell ya ).

What I really like is Simon’s “tell” face. The one when he really really likes somebody. His nose gets funny and flat, the nostrils kind of open up, like he’s sniffing the notes, and he gets this silly grin.

And, yes, I fast forward through the crap and commercials.

  44. Kradamour says:

Thanks, Adamized! Adam can totally count on Lindsay Parker. I love seeing a link to her columns because I know in advance that there will be journalistic squeeing! Smile

  45. dcglam says:

Wonder if we’ll hear anything about the ratings from PR last night.

I was wondering about this, too, luval. Even though they were in competition with the second half of X Factor, I still feel that PR must have done well considering they had a huge attraction on board for the evening….. Wink

  46. milwlovesadam says:

I think the only way to truly judge the ratings is to compare PR to PR. And see if the ratings went up because of our boy.

Maybe our host is up to this task, I’m surely not!!

Besides, I’m listening to Glee does Funny Girl and west Side Story and Babs does Somewhere in multiple tabs!!!

  47. Ron says:

I’m listening along with you mils! Thank you so much for the Links! I’ll match goose bump for goose bump with you. Wink

  48. milwlovesadam says:

Ron, isn’t it cool how this little show called Glee has a whole new generation listening to this music. I’m getting such a thrill out of this. And, Curt singing with Lea is magic, isn’t it?

  49. milwlovesadam says:

Oooh. I want Adam to be a huge star. I want him to give concerts and tour and record and be all over my TV.

    BUT.

Oh I how I would love to hear him sing “I’m the Greatest Star.”

  50. milwlovesadam says:

Okay. Last post. Hollywood Reporter has a video exclusive that I can’t copy to bring here of Idina Menzel and Lea Michelle singing Somewhere. Ron, my goosebumps are now replaced by a lump in my throat and dripping eyes. So lovely.
