It’s time for our September chat thread. Hopefully this will be the final relatively quiet month before Adam’s new single is released. As always, please keep the posting guidelines in mind, and welcome any newcomers. Enjoy!

Good morning adamized, my virgo sister who just shared my post! Smile

eywflyer, please add my thanks for this thread and the gorgeous photo at the top!

  2. riskylady says:

Ron, you’re back! I was just thinking last night that you were missing! And, it would have been fun having you on our adventures too! Save that thought for next time.

Eywflyer, love your ideas for new threads. And love going back and rewatching the GNT vids. And it’s true, Adam gave his all every time. I remember London was the fourth in a row, and it was GREAT! I don’t think many performers love their audience as much as he does.

  3. Kradamour says:

I don’t think many performers love their audience as much as he does.

I just re-watched the video from NRJ Paris, where Adam sang WWFM apparently early in the morning – a staffer handed him some tea, and he took a sip before singing. He looked tired and it seemed to me that he was wrestling a little bit with the song, and not really happy with his performance. Toward the end, the studio audience started to clap and there was a definite boost, you could almost instantly see a difference in his expression as he finished the song. I love this performance.

And riskylady, we saw in Ste Agathe how much Adam had missed us. He was absolutely beaming with joy, and really seemed to want to connect with us in the way that friends who have been separated reconnect, even coming forward to sit on the edge of the stage to be closer to us. One of many things to love about him. Smile We aren’t just an audience to be marketed to.

It really always amazes me how some of you on this site can find a video to prove or disprove any discussion we are having about Adam. eek 8O

In bow down to your expertise!

    Hi ALL,

I can’t be here long. I just got back to the never neverland. Still on clouds nine, nothing to do with A&S, but being on and off the planes for two days.

A lot to catch up with RL and see if I still have a job. tee hee..hee. Grin

  6. asifclueless says:

eywflyer … gorgeous photo of Adam fo this month chat thread. Thank you very much.

    – as suggested by Kradamour, I’ll be starting a dedicated thread to discuss how folks became Glamberts, recaps of first Adam concert experiences, etc. This thread will probably be limited access for registered users on this site only.

    – I’ll also be added a “Second Tour” placeholder to the main drop-down menu (yay!), with a link to a thread for discussion of future concert attendance plans. This thread will definitely be limited access for registered site users only, so people can feel comfortable making plans and sharing contact info where the whole internet won’t be able to see.

    WONDERFUL !!! Grin Grin

Looking forwards to those new threads.

  7. nkd says:

Kradamour and adamized, you two are totally in sync!

Would you prefer liver and onions, cherie?

No thank you, chocolate is always preferred! Smile

  8. nkd says:

I have to add my thanks to eywflyer for this thread and the gorgeous picture with so much significance.
I love the idea of the new threads. This site just keeps getting betterer!

  9. Kradamour says:

I hear crickets chirping. Really, in RL. Right outside my window. Seems sort of appropriate.
Guess everyone but me has left for the weekend.
    ‘Bye, peeps! (waves)

they are going to burn the trojan horse tonight = midnight
pacific = lighting it with flaming arrows. This thing is hugh –
28 tons, five stories high, wood.

    http://www.trojanhorse2011.com/updates

  11. cwm says:

Thanks for the Burning Man ustream link, jlurksacto. That’s quite a sight, watching the horse burn. That is a HUGE fire! And I love how the people dancing on that stage are silhouetted by the enormous flames behind them. Very cool!

  12. jlurksacto says:

That is really well built. Even with accelerant and fireworks inside, it
    is lasting quite a while.

  13. luval says:

Good morning everyone. It may be a holiday weekend but I’m working Monday so no holiday for me.

Burning Man for Adam and Sauli? Who knows. Personally, I admire the idea but I could never go. Gotta have me some flush toilets and a few nice restaurants. Lol

  14. nkd says:

No holiday for me either, I’m working all weekend.

jlurksacto, thank you for the link for burning man.

I’m with you luval, I admire the burning man idea, but flushies are essential! Maybe in a really nice RV!

What do you bet if Adam is there, that he only gets as bare as a tank top and shorts?!! Confused

  15. Kradamour says:

What do you bet if Adam is there, that he only gets as bare as a tank top and shorts?!! Confused

You seem to have forgotten the pre-Idol Burning Man pix, nekkid. Rolls Eyes

  16. luval says:

Hi Kradamour…you and nkd and myself may be the only ones keeping the fire burning this weekend!

Yup, if he goes he’ll be covered by a few feathers here and there. I don’t know. Kradamour you had said a bit back that Adam’s in a different place now (or something like that). I feel the same way. Some other sites are playing the “where’s Adam” game. Well, he’s either home, Burning Man or on a plane somewhere. If there’s a twitter party he’s on the plane.

Wherever, he can’t be gone too long because I’m sure the album has to be tweaked, etc. etc. I watched WWFM from AI last year and Adam says “it’s a 24 hr a day job”. I believe him. There’s also an article floating around about an artist’s sophomore album. The critics are very harsh. So much is expected.

Just got back from breakfast. There is a new Hobby Lobby store opened in my area. Boy, there’s a lot of peace sign junk. Pink and Black furry things…crap like that. I think it’s a very limited short trend.

I’m thinking Pennyroyal may just extend the time to buy the pendant because of the hurricane in the East. Many many people (you know, krad) were and are still stuck in that mess. No one has time to buy jewelry. We’ll see.

  17. ultimathule says:

The Wall Street Journal has a video up today: “Wealthy Attendees at Burning Man Bring Hired Help.”

  18. luval says:

Oh and one year ago 9/3/10 Adam was in Des Moines Iowa on the Walnut Street Bridge! It was very cold and fireworks were exploding during Soaked. And something about the lasers in the show had to be cleared by the FAA. lol!

  19. ultimathule says:

There’s also an article: “At Burning Man, Air-Conditioning, RVs Make Inroads” – Stu Woo and Justin Scheck – the video is embedded in the article.

  20. luval says:

ultimathule…that article is a hoot. So there are “classes” at Burning Man. lower, middle and upper. Just like in real life. Looks like many of the hard core peeps disdain the new influx of the fancy RV’s stocked with food, hired help, fresh linens…
My how things change and quickly too.

  21. Kradamour says:

ultimathule, I was waiting for this to happen at Burning Man. Peeps who need their flush toilets and still want to go attend, and are bourgeois/upper class enough to pull it off…next step is for some entrepreneurs to provide guide services for planning through attendance (maybe already exist, didn’t read the article yet).
Next step is for the authentic burners to start another festival somewhere else and leave Burning Man for the wannabes.
Final step, end of Burning Man because without the authentic burners, it’s just another campground and not very well located. Frown

  22. luval says:

here’s the article (hope that’s ok, ultimathule)

9/3/10 – the Glam Nation Tour plays the Walnut Street Bridge in Des Moines IA:

    http://www.adamlambertlive.org/2011/gnt-des-moines-ia-090310

Certainly one of the most unusual venues on the tour, this show was originally slated for the nearby Simon Estes Amphitheatre, but due to flood damage there had to be moved to the bridge instead.

  24. JOJOSIE says:

One year ago today at this time GoatieGarden and I were in our hotel suite when we heard a familiar noise and raced to the window to see and what to our wondering eyes would appear but Adam Lambert and his band doing dress rehearsal. Wow what a start for the day. Our window was located behind the riverside stage where the concert was originally scheduled and just to the left of the bridge so we had a great view. My Adam adventure had started the evening before when Goatie had picked me up in Waterloo, Ia and we’d driven to Des MOines. It was fairly late when we checked in but we were too excited to sleep so we broke out our laptops and went on MJ’s and twitter. We also reviewed some of Adam’s U-Tubes. I actually was the subject of a tweeted picture that Goatie put up. It would be my first web appearance. Sleep did come eventually. We both had M&G’s and Goatie had an extra one. She read on a blog about a teenager who’s father had recently died and her Mom was treating her to the concert to cheer her up. Goatie contacted her and offered the extra M&G free. If you didn’t already know Goatie is a very generous and warm person. I had purchased a silver sequined beret to wear. A guy came up in the lobby and offered to buy it from me for his wife. I of course kept it and while waiting for the M&G one of the makeup artist came out and put a silver binde on my forehead. Neil was rather pleasant and talked to us quite a bit.(this was when the M&G’s were faily new to him) The room the meetings were in was absolutely bare except for Adam and Neil. I found this strange but it worked. I didn’t bring anything for Adam to sign so Goatie gave me one of her European Adam CD. He was pleased to see it. I think I made and impression on Neil as I mentioned my infinity bracelet and said I was like Neil and didn’t want a tatoo so had the bracelet instead. Adam looked younger and thiner in person. He was warm, talkative and seemed to enjoy himself. I surprisingly was not nervous. The show was a different story. I’ll do it later.

  25. cwm says:

Thanks for the article about Burning Man, ultimathule and luval. I’m intrigued by Burning Man. We have a similar event near where I live that happens over the course of a weekend in July, but it’s on a smaller scale and although there’s a lot of emphasis on free expression like Burning Man, there’s not the same emphasis on endurance and self-reliance in hardship conditions.

I was sorry to read about the influx of big RVs, non-stop air conditioning, servants/assistants, etc. into Burning Man. Good grief, that’s not exactly in keeping with the spirit of the event.

But I’m someone who loves camping. I love roughing it, challenging myself to live more primitively. It connects me with the earth, with the basics of life, and it feels good for my soul. In fact, our family recently went camping at a lake high in the Oregon Cascades and it was absolutely delightful. So peaceful and beautiful. In fact, one night, as I was taking a walk by myself in the dark, it was so silent that I realized I could hear literally nothing. The biggest challenge for all of us, I think, was no internet, computers, or cell phones for 3 days! LOL I also challenged myself not to listen to my ipod the whole time, either, so I had a 3-day total Adam fast. Whew, that was tough. First time in 2 or 2.5 years I had gone that long without either hearing his voice, seeing a picture of him, reading about him, or chatting about him online. LOL

  26. nkd says:

I haven’t forgotten the burning man pics!!!!
I think he would go again if Sauli wanted to go, but I think that he’d be more conscious of himself and pictures being taken, etc. I would hope that he could enjoy the experience as he wished, but the reality of being a celebrity intrudes sometimes. So…I still say tank top and shorts. I really hope I’m wrong! Smile

  27. milwlovesadam says:

If Adam were to be at Burning Man, he’d need to go incognito. Good luck at that!

True, if it has gone upscale, at least in part, I bet the hardcore attendees would find a new venue. I agree cwm, as a camper, when the campground is full of people in mobile homes with satellite dishes and flush toilets, it’s not really camping.

So, where’s Waldo? He could be anywhere from Bora Bora to tucked in a studio. Holding out, wailing on his vocals. Perfecting his album.

  28. milwlovesadam says:

Kradamour, thanks for your Gaga comments. Smile

  29. dcglam says:

Knowing how much Adam loved his Burning Man experiences, I can totally see him wanting to share this with Sauli. The fact that this is the first time tickets have been sold out in the past 25 years is most impressive. I feel there is a decent chance he may be there.

NGL… I’d be one of those peeps with the RV of “luxuries”. That would be my idea of “camping” — LOL!
cwm, you and your story inspire me… Wink

  31. Kradamour says:

jojosie, thank you for your story! Loved it! I went to college in Iowa and have been sorry that I didn’t go to the concert there. Well, actually I am sorry that I didn’t go to every one of them, but…! LOL

Camping. Something I totally do not get, but admire those who do.

Hi, mils! (waves) Thanks for reminding me that I need to go find a youtube of GaGa in drag from the other night.

  32. milwlovesadam says:

Kradamour, I wasn’t too fond of GaGa in her man suit. She had the same persona in her You and I video. Looks like Ralph Macchio. LOL.

  33. milwlovesadam says:

OMG. I was just catching up on MJ’s. CRAP

Michael Johns was in Milwaukee last night. A mile from my house. Walking distance. I had no f%*#@king idea!!! I missed seeing one of the few guys from Idol I would pay to see!! Did I mention it was within walking distance??? ARGGHH!

Excuse me while I spit, scream and shout a little….

( Drat that real life, for getting in the way of fun….)

  34. luval says:

Just popping in to say I couldn’t stand Gaga the other night. Her schtick was ok in the beginning of the show but when she continued it in other segments it turned silly. She really didn’t look like a guy. Maybe that’s a compliment! IMO of course. A huge gaga fan I work with said the same thing.

    Where is that dreamboat anyway?

    mils..I loved Michael Johns too!!

  35. milwlovesadam says:

Yup luval, I agree. The best of the night were Adele and Bruno. IMHO.

  36. ultimathule says:

There’s something about BM in its recent reincarnation that to me is a turnoff – lost its innocence? not sure – but, whatever it was originally, think it’s gone. Couldn’t imagine how this would interest Adam now – he’s found who he is – and thanks to the early BM for that – but he’s a different person now.

Agree that Bruno was terrific and that Gaga was not, but Adele for me was a disappointment. Found her singing not entirely on key (slightly sharp) and her actual performance flat. Don’t think that in concert she will be at all exciting. Recording is where she belongs – not on stage.

  37. milwlovesadam says:

Where oh where could our boy be?

    Hmmmm.

    Perchance shopping for photo shoots?
    Posing for photo shoots?
Ensconsed in a villa with Sauli somewhere romantic?
    Thorough mani-pedi?
    New hairdo?

    Hmmmm…

  38. milwlovesadam says:

Yes. Ultimahule, in the new Rolling Stone, Adele says she is interested in her voice, in singing, not in creating a persona. That does make for boring stage presence. And, she cancelled her tour because she blew her vocal cords this summer. She did have a few missed notes, however, I was just so excited to see her, partly because I adore her CD.

  39. luval says:

    Yay, a list from mils!…I think it’s number 3.

Ultimathule I do agree with you about Adele. I like her voice and a couple of her songs, but not at the VMA’s. Not sure I could listen to a whole performance of her.

I will admit my guilty pleasure on the vma’s was Neo w/Pittbull. Also the gerbils in the Kia Soul commercial singing Party Rock!

eta: I would, however, love to hear Adele in a small club. But it ain’t gonna happen.

  40. riskylady says:

Ultimathule and Mils, agree with you both about Gaga and Adele. I actually didn’t watch the show, just YouTubed parts. It seemed to me that Adele’s voice actually cracked 3 times, and she seemed distressed after the second time and looked back at her pianist. The version of the song was quite long, I think maybe she wanted to shorten it but he didn’t get the message, and she looked at him again at the end. Maybe she is still having some voice problems.
    Found this on her website:

It is with regret that due to a severe cold and chest infection, Adele has had to postpone the first two shows of her UK tour in Plymouth on Sunday September 4th and Bournemouth on Monday September 5th 2011.

Reading her bio, she had some musical training, but not voice training, and I don’t think she knows how to properly care for her voice.
Also – exciting news from her site: Jonathon Ross has a new show!!! Remember how he loved Adam? Hope he will have him on, performing, next time Adam does promo in the UK!

  41. riskylady says:

    Kradamour says
And riskylady, we saw in Ste Agathe how much Adam had missed us. He was absolutely beaming with joy, and really seemed to want to connect with us in the way that friends who have been separated reconnect

Kradamour, remember this tweet just before the concert?

    adamlambertAdam Lambert
Excited for the Quebec show tonight!!! Who’s here?!
    29 Jul

I thought he might have had a moment’s trepidation, wondering who would be coming to this small festival when there was a huge one with huge stars going on in Montreal so close by. I swear, I often think he still doesn’t fully believe in his own amazingness! So maybe he was truly delighted to see such a nice crowd, and the adoration, plus the staying with him through the storm. He really is still pretty humble, which I just love.

  42. JOJOSIE says:

Kradamour, this was my least favorite of the five shows I attended as it was GA and I don’t stand. The area for the lawn chair fans was farther back than it should have been. I did have the company of RainbowGal (who visits here occasionally)her partner Jen and a friend. We also met KCinKcity in Des Moines. She’s the one Monte jumped off the stage and hugged at one show. Madnessinmotion joined us for the next two shows. I’ve met so many great Adam fans and maybe next tour I’ll meet more of the regulars here. I don’t think Adam is at Burning Man. He’s got so much on his plate now, but then Sauli did say in his blog that he was going to be very busy so who knows. He needs to at least tweet.

  43. ultimathule says:

When he tweeted, riskylady, “Who’s here?!,” my heart went out to him. In my mind he wanted to be reassured that we still loved him after his absence (he’s completely realistic about the staying power of performers). It made me so happy – and I know all of you here as well – that he received such a wonderful response. Yes, there’s still something in him that’s unsure that this could all be real. Our job is to make him believe it.

  44. Kradamour says:

Yes, there’s still something in him that’s unsure that this could all be real.

ultimathule, Adam has said in interviews that he still sometimes feels like the fat kid…I have known so many wonderful, beautiful, successful peeps who had rough high school years, and they spent literally decades reshaping their self-images.

Another thing that Adam said, only once that I know of, was a spontaneous reply to the question of what was the best thing about going so far on Idol. He said that his father saw that he could do something cool. That absolutely broke my heart in all the right ways; so many adult children long for the approval of a parent and think that they don’t have it. I gather that Eber wasn’t thrilled with his son’s career up to that point and from what little I know about him, probably didn’t hesitate to say so.

So Adam is carrying some heavy baggage, and it is natural for him to not entirely believe his present good fortune. It probably also explains his work ethic and need to “get it right”. How wonderful that he now has Sauli to help with the carrying and to lighten the baggage.

  45. ultimathule says:

Appreciate very much your perceptive post, kradamour, and I, too, believe that the lack of support from his father at one point (particularly regarding finances) must have hurt him deeply. Eber is an intelligent man and his support of his gay son is of great credit to him, but he’s also highly opinionated (follow his tweets) and not easily dissuaded from his beliefs. Eber is a cynic (and I sympathize with that), but Adam, as he has said, tries not to be – something that must be difficult in the field he has chosen.

And, too, it makes me so happy to hear Adam express his own happiness at this juncture in his career. How many times has he said every person deserves love? – how many years has he looked for it? At last, with Sauli, Adam has apparently found what he was looking for. Strange how the happiness of this boy means so much to me.

  46. k_in_cal says:

I too agree with you all about Adele. She’s had to cancel some shows again due to illness. It’s amazing that Adam never once had to cancel a performance. He’s performed while ill and still managed to sound amazing. I think Adele’s problem may be a lack of voice training and sorry to say, but the fact that she smokes, may also play a part in her illness issues. Don’t get me wrong, I love her voice but if she doesn’t learn how to take care of her instrument, she won’t have much of a career.

  47. jlurksacto says:

    And he is down

    Lots of fireworks.

  48. cwm says:

Funny, since she’s become so hugely popular, I’ve tried to like Adele’s voice, but she just doesn’t do it for me. She’s got a lot of power in her voice, but there is something about her tone that grates on my nerves a little. And her songs just leave me a little flat. Feels like heresy to say it, but I just can’t quite warm up to her.

I do definitely appreciate her success, though, and the re-emphasis on the importance of the voice that her success has brought.

  49. cwm says:

Thanks for the Burning Man links, jlurksacto. That was quite a burn!

  50. luval says:

So I’m at the State Fair this morning and fox tails are big here. $12.00 each or 2 for $20.00. Lol!
