It’s time for our September chat thread. Hopefully this will be the final relatively quiet month before Adam’s new single is released. As always, please keep the posting guidelines in mind, and welcome any newcomers. Enjoy!

To quote Kathy Griffin, “What a DREAMBOAT!”
    Gorgeous picture, eywflyer!

  2. eywflyer says:

    I can’t resist – I’m Adam this month! Smile

Couple of new things coming up this month:

    – as suggested by Kradamour, I’ll be starting a dedicated thread to discuss how folks became Glamberts, recaps of first Adam concert experiences, etc. This thread will probably be limited access for registered users on this site only.

    – I’ll also be added a “Second Tour” placeholder to the main drop-down menu (yay!), with a link to a thread for discussion of future concert attendance plans. This thread will definitely be limited access for registered site users only, so people can feel comfortable making plans and sharing contact info where the whole internet won’t be able to see.

As always, if ya’ll have ideas or suggestions please let me know.

  3. dcglam says:

Wow — I love your stunning photo choice, eywflyer!
And I’ll add to that quote, riskylady…..
That boy makes me all giddy! Smile

  4. HK fan says:

aww, nice picture, from when he was doing that straight from the heart speech. Love that suit.

  5. cgesq says:

I’m looking forward to the new threads!! I especially like the idea of limiting access to those threads to users of this site. Thanks!!

  6. ultimathule says:

A simply stunning man in every way. Thank you for this beautiful picture, eywflyer, and am looking forward to all the interesting threads that will be available this month.

  7. luval says:

Good morning September chat thread!! Love that gorgeous picture. I go back and watch Adam and kathi griffin occasionally and that Mad World just floors me.

Terrific new threads coming! Thank you kradamour and eywflyer for all this. Now we just have to get Adam on line and it will be perfect. Some people think he’s going to Burning Man but maybe this is a good time for him to go to Finland and meet the parents.

  8. adamized says:

Eywflyer Lovely choice for Sept. Certainly highlights a special event for our BB. I can’t wait until we no longer see “no concerts scheduled” under upcoming events.

Thanks to all who sent positive thougths to us eastcoasters. I was lucky to have only lost power for 24 hours. Main problem was no internet, cable, and phone until late yesterday afternoon. Since I don’t go to any Adam-related sites during work hours I was stuck…

But….I was so lucky to have a little treat to make up for my washout birthday weekend. Guess who came to dinner last night? Here is a hint…she is still ’28’ due to storm-related time continuim malfunctions… Yes! you guessed right it was our own dear Kradamour! We only had a couple of hours together since she was just passing through on a quick visit with her family in these neck of the woods. She seemed absolutely unphased and none the worse for wear.

We tried sending a joint blog to you all last night but after we composed the message Kradamour touched something funcky on my keyboard and it dissappeared into cyberspace. I’m sure she will post something very creative and funny soon.

We made a toast to all of you over our icecream cones and sent out several calls to the Universe that we would all be together soon at another Adam reunion.

    Big Hugs.

9/1/10 – the Glam Nation Tour kicks off its fourth month on the road at the sold out Victory Theatre in Evansville IN:

Glad ya’ll like the photo for this month’s chat thread. We have been trying to use a photo from the previous month recently, and I knew when I saw it that this was the one for September!

  10. little dutchess says:

eywflyer thanks for all you do on/for the site!

  11. JOJOSIE says:

Sept is one of my favorite months. It became even more so last year as that’s when I had a chance to see, hear and even meet Adam in person. Ewyflyer and staff, thanks for listening to us and providing this site. I went back and re-read the site mission and comment guidelines and feel you’ve done an excellent job of keeping us in line without squelching our Adam love and enthusiasm. Thanks….

  12. luval says:

On adamquotesdaily there are some tweets from Terrence that he auditioned for The Voice singing WWFM and that it went well.

  13. PlanetFierce says:

LOVE the photo choice Eywflyer!!!! GAWD, he is one gorgeous hunk of humanity!!!! I was just remembering what he said in an interview once when asked if anyone had tried to hit on him early on and I think this might have even been during the Idol tour as I think about it…. He recalled the one gal (very attractive he said) who wanted to get close to him for a hug or whatever, and then she started moaning, etc. I would really like to know what he REALLY thought about that experience. It just makes me smile when I think about it.

  14. luval says:

Hi planetfierce…I remember Adam talking about that experience in a few interviews. I believe he said “he was flattered”. Smile

  15. ultimathule says:

Something else, luval, I’d love Adam to answer is on what occasion he broke down a door – one of the “male” things that on “The Talk” he said he’s done – besides changing a battery, etc. That might be interesting – lol. (Maybe he was just beating up Neil.)

  16. Kradamour says:

Good afternoon! So glad that adamized made up for my whatever I did to “poof” our message by posting for us! She lives 11 miles from my in-laws so it was easy to slip away and have a lovely dinner visit with her on the patio with her son, such a treat! Nekkid, we invoked your name with each bite of our mocha chocolate brownie ice cream LOL and we planned out some of Adam’s future (like he needs us to do that) for him. Adamized loaned me a crime novel written by a Quebecoise author that she says even has references to Ste Agathe. How we wished that more of us could be together! but we will be again, I am sure of it.

Speaking of Fan Fic (how’s that for a great transition!) I found an interesting article about it in Time magazine. The article begins focused on the Harry Potter fan fiction, but treats the subject globally. Adam playfully admonished us against fan fic at Ste Agathe, but the article discusses the reasons for and effects of it. Definitely worth a read.
    http://www.time.com/time/arts/article/0,8599,2081784-1,00.html
Some of the comments are well worth reading, as well.

ETA: Okay, so I googled fanfic adommy, fanfic kradam, fanfic sauli…I hadn’t gone down this rabbit hole before. Spent an interesting half hour. Glad that I read the Time article first, it (both the fanfic and the article!) made a lot more sense. Wink

  17. luval says:

Hi Kradamour. So nice you and Adamized had your own little mini reunion! Am gonna read that fan-fic article.

Had to mention of course one year ago 9/1/10 Adam played in Evansville ind. The only thing I had in my liner notes was that peeps thought Adam seemed tired. That it was the third show in a row so in the future don’t go to the third show! But as the tour went on that turned out not to be true. The several times Adam had multiple shows, he was just as good in the first as the last.

  18. cwm says:

Hi everyone – I can’t believe that it’s already September! Where does the time go??

Thanks for the lovely pic of Adam at the Equality Awards, eywflyer, and of course, thank you so much for everything you do to make this site work so well.

Related to that photo above, I don’t think this was ever posted here. It’s a very nice commentary on lessons derived from the Equality Awards, with some lovely comments about Adam:
    http://sdgln.com/commentary/2011/08/23/commentary-lessons-learned-from-night-of-equality

    Also, I found a few Sauli-related treats to share…

His latest blog post is up; he talks about his juice fast and visiting a friend and kayaking in Long Beach.

    In the original Finnish: http://blogit.iltasanomat.fi/sauli/

    Google translation: http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=fi&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fblogit.iltasanomat.fi%2Fsauli%2F

I haven’t seen a better translation from a fan yet, but hopefully one will show up.

  19. cwm says:

Also, remember that Tutka chat on Skype between Sauli and Katri from earlier this week? Sauli was so adorable in it — laughing and smiling so much. I watched through the whole thing, just cuz he’s so dang cute, even though I had no idea what he was saying. LOL

Well, a Finnish fan has kindly translated it for us, here:
    http://sauli-news.livejournal.com/5460.html#cutid1

And now that you know what he’s saying, here is the video again:

And, finally, photos from the Equality Awards appeared in the Finnish press:

Have a great day everyone. Happy Sept!

  21. Calgary says:

Tx for the gorgeous photo, eywflyer.

Since this is a quiet month (so far…) how about this for some food for thought? I was listening to an interview with Renee Fleming about an indy rock album she did and of course what came to mind? A Renee/Adam duet. To go with the k.d.lang duet…

  22. cwm says:

Very interesting article about fanfic, kradamour. Thanks for posting! Definitely gave me a broader perspective on the whole thing. The article focused mostly on new stories created using existing fictional characters, and only barely addressed the genre of fanfiction that involves real live people. Although I understand what’s so compelling about it to some fans, the Adam fanfic gets a little creepy to me — Adam, Tommy, Kris, and Sauli (and whomever else Adam gets paired with in the fanfic) are real people, rather than fictional characters, and it must be very very strange for them to know that erotic or pornographic fictional stories are being written about them and shared broadly.

  23. luval says:

hmmm am not able to edit either on Internet Explorer or Firefox but my iphone (Safari) is ok. Maybe it will correct itself.

I noticed Sauli’s blog about a week ago. Here’s the Finnish translation:

The fast is over, onto the eating!!

Yay! I’ve finally finished the fast, drank so much juice and green tea it’s coming out of my ears.. last night I couldn’t even sleep because I was thinking of all the things I would get to eat when I get up and I felt like a ittle kid waiting for Christmas morning. Not that there’s been much eating, since I got full from half an omelette and a banana. On the other hand, you need to start eating little by little after a fast, and not hog down big portions. I feel different though and my mind is more refreshed, even though I only fasted for four days.

It’s interesting that the first two days were terrible and I was “slightly” grumpy, but on the third and fourth day the feeling was perfect. I would have liked to continue this for a couple more days, but there is so much coming up right now, I need the energy (food I mean) ((I’m so good at phrasing things in a way that my mind immediately goes to the gutter )) It’ll take a few days to get back into rhythm with eating. I can happily recommend this fast thing for everyone!

Remember that the first two days are downright torment, but you get through them with some swearing.. hahah!! Also, you shouldn’t plan any active exercise while you’re fasting since your body can’t take it and you may end up feeling really weak. This wasn’t meant to be a diet, but a cleansing of the body, although the kilos will come off quite eaily if you go on fasting longer. So, if you’ve gorged on that low-fat ((sarcasm, icu)) Finnish grill food for a couple months, this will definitely work!! And Brad Pitt didn’t quite look back in the mirror yet, but I wouldn’t want to look that old anyway! yay!

I forgot to mention that last week I was exploring Long Beach, which is about a 45 minute drive away from LA. What a great place! My Finnish friend lives there with her husband and I was visiting them. Long Beach is a beach town and a whole different world compared to the busy Hollywood. We went kayaking, it only cost 8 dollars an hour. Cheap!! It was my first time kayaking and it took a while to get it, but after the shaky beginning I got into it.

[Awesome pics of Sauli and friend in kayaks]

I can tell you I really felt it in my hands after an hour of paddling against mild headwind. It was still worth it for the scenery was amazing and the route went along canals that had expensive beach houses on either side. After the tough hour of exercise we went to eat at a restaurant called Gyu-Kaku that lets you prepare your own food. The menu has a big selection of meats and vegetable you can choose from. In the middle of the table is a small grill you use to cook the meat and the side dishes. The food was so good it was sick and my definite favourite was asparagus wrapped in bacon.. ah!!

[Pic of the grill and food]

This restaurant can also be found in Beverly Hills, but if you’re coming over here, definitely go see Long Beach! (and I’ve already promised earlier to be a travel guide for Finns) hah!! Experience LA with Sauli and I can promise you once you get home you’ll need another week of vacation!!

Last night there was once again a meeting held by raccoons on the yard and the noise was shocking.. weird that the raccoons are so common it’s as if seeing a squirrel in Finland.. But now Sauli wishes good morning and weekend to all!! To my self I say good night and go to sleep wearing ear plugs…

  24. luval says:

cwm, very nice article about the Equality awards. Am going to send it to several people I know who are starting to “come around”.

    eta: my edit is back!!

  25. luval says:

Took a little evening walk listening to my ipod…whatever comes on first…Adam’s idol tunes this time. I’ve always wondered what the background people thought of Adam’s voice. The sound guy, the techs, the house band. Especially “Feeling Good” my favorite studio song of his. The 4 part Los Angeles Times interview talks about it a bit. I always love to hear from the people we don’t normally hear from!

  26. cwm says:

Ahhh thanks luval for the nice translation of Sauli’s blogpost. Sooo much better than the google translate version! Sauli is so clever and funny; I love reading his writing. And I love how it gives us a sideways glance into Adam’s and his life together.

  27. luval says:

I re-read Sauli’s blog. The second paragraph “So much coming up right now”. Wonder what he meant by that? Travel? Burning Man? Finland?

Yes, cwm…I so enjoy his blogs!

  28. dcglam says:

Took a little evening walk listening to my ipod…whatever comes on first…Adam’s idol tunes this time.

    Ah…. This sounds delightful, luval.
There isn’t much on the radio these days. Radio seems to go right along with the summer TV rerun schedule. The other day I actually played my FYE CD on the way to and from work — hadn’t done that in a while. As great as that CD is, it is amazing to notice how much these songs have changed/improved over time with all the many performances.

    Another interesting tidbit…..
I’ve heard that Susan Boyle is releasing her next album in November. I’m hoping that it will not coincide with Adam’s release, again. I know that they are totally different and all, but in this case history really does not need to repeat itself. JMHO

  29. luval says:

Oh dcglam. Thought the same thing about Susan Boyle’s release. Please, not again. I listen to my local popular radio station early morning and it’s just awful. I like Britny Spears newest, Neo/Pitbull…a couple more but generally it’s a wasteland. Very strange. And I still play FYE…it’s on my ipod and I blast all my tunes outside washing my car and doing yard work!

And anyone/everyone…check the Ste Agathe thread. Some very hilarious (sorry guys) posts from risky lady, jlurksackto, adamized, cgesq about their crazy adventures in Montreal!

  30. loveroftalent says:

Amazing photo of Adam. What a beautiful man. Inside and out.

Can’t wait for the album. And please not Susan Boyle again, although I have nothing against her.

  31. Teri63 says:

I love the Sept. pic. of Adam! I re-watch the Jonathan Ross interview way more than is probably normal, and part of the reason is that amazing suit. He just looks so stunning in it! Thanks EWYFLYER for the new thread. I really appreciate having a place we can go that’s filled with such nice people who all share a love of all things Adam.

  32. milwlovesadam says:

Nice picture, but my fave of the night was of him with tears in his eyes accepting the award . Does anyone have that one? It had words written on it, and kind of a purple background, if I remember correctly.

Looking forward to our own special threads, thanks again eywflyer.

  33. milwlovesadam says:

Jojosie, are you there? Madness? Goatie? I’m thinking of you all, a year ago we were packing, prepping for the Labor Day Weekend road trip extravaganza. Of course, I had only planned on one show, but was kidnapped and forced to go to Peoria.

Ha! What a blast that was!!

  34. Ron says:

As every bad penny is wont to do, I return. Smile

Appears I needed to regroup and recharge my batteries for a bit. I think I’m running on all 4 cylinders now. Wink

Great photo for September, eywflyer! I love the directions this/your site is moving towards! Thank you so much for all of your efforts to make this home even more comfortable where we can visit with friends.

When Adam said that a release date of November 4th was a rumor, was he referring to the date or the month?! I certainly hope the CD is going to drop in November (and on a different date than when Susan Boyle’s CD is released).

ADAMIZED! I missed your birthday and want to wish you a belated but very Happy Birthday! May your birthday wish come true!

I found this interesting photo of a younger Kris Allen and … what IS that on his eyes? Wink

    http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL629/13192141/23881604/398316214.jpg

I don’t know where this photo was taken. Did he do theatre? Maybe he’s about to enter from stage right or, maybe, he was just hanging out with a friend. Interesting though, if you relate it to Adam.

Riskylady, LOVED your recap on the concert thread! I could have gone back to Montreal with jlurksacto but decided the day before that it would be best if I went home. It looks like I missed out on some frustrating, delightful and fun mayhem! I would love to have been there with you. Hard to believe you actually made it home! LOL

  35. dcglam says:
  36. Ron says:

Hi dcglam! LOVE that photo, too! Slight tremble of the chin, tears … beautiful shot.

  37. milwlovesadam says:

    Hi Ron!!

dcglam you are wonderful! Yes that is exactly the one. Although I do like the one chosen for the thread, this one is so emotional and heartfelt. Just love it. There’s something about those eyes with tears in them that melts me…

  38. Ron says:

    dot

  39. milwlovesadam says:

    ditto your dot, Ron!!

Did you see my post before I deleted it? I only took it with humor. Nothing else.

  40. Ron says:

Haha mils! I remove my silly comment … I just thought it was too silly … and you reply. LOL

I know exactly what you mean about the photo. I’m very moved by it as well.

  41. Ron says:

    I saw your post, mils.

We’re certainly on the same page. Wink

  42. Ron says:

jlurksacto, so glad to see that you’ve finally come out! LOL

    Love your new avatar. Wink

  43. milwlovesadam says:

Gotta go Ron, real life beckons.

Too bad, I was giving myself a Gaga concert and surfing the net. Love her live stuff. Especially the Paul O’Grady videos. And the Howard Stern ones too. Also, since seeing Bruno Mars on the VMA’s, I can’t get Valerie out of my head. I’ve watched and listened to it about 100 times. Hate to say it, but he’s growing on me. I still think Adam should have won the Grammy, but, Bruno is pretty good.

  44. adamized says:

It is now 11:11 my favorite time of the day or night. So, a quick post before I head to bed.

Ron so happy to see you are back on all fours (cylinders that is). Thanks you for the birthday shout out. I am leaving for the beach tomorrow for a belated celebration.

  45. milwlovesadam says:

TeeHee Ron. I haven’t left yet, but will after this.

Loved that pic of Kris with the guyliner!! I’m thinking that was in some previous band incarnation. A lot of dudes in bands were copying Billie Jo from Green Day at that time. And, Pete Wentz too.

  46. Kradamour says:

    And so it goes… Frown
Husband just told me about attacks on ABC (HUGE irony here) for announcing that Chaz Bono will be on Dancing with the Stars this season. Yes, that would be the son of Cher, formerly known as daughter Chastity before her sex change operation some years ago.
ABC being attacked for not being family-friendly. Hmmm, have we heard that before?
Seems there is a difference between “Hollywood Royalty” and other performers. Or whatever. Rolls Eyes
    http://www.accesshollywood.com/producer-on-dancing-with-the-stars-chaz-bono-controversy-we-definitely-are-a-family-show_article_52946?__source=rss|imdb|latest-originals

(And I still long for an Adam/Cher duet!)

  47. Kradamour says:

It is now 11:11 my favorite time of the day or night.

Adamized, I can’t wait until it is the 11th of November this year! almost too much goodness in one single minute! LOL

mils, totally agree about GaGa’s live performances. I’ve watched the Stern vids dozens of times. The Speechless that she did for the Queen is haunting; that’s the vid I send to peeps who say they can’t stand GaGa, that she is a talentless self-promoter. Breathtaking.

Ron, welcome back to the playpen! So glad to see you! Smile

  48. nkd says:

Wouldn’t 11-11-11 be a great day for an album release?!!!!

Ron, it’s good to see you back here!

adamized and Kradamour, I’m so glad that you were able to have your dinner together. That alone should make up for the birthday misfortunes! Thank you for remembering me. Is it always with chocolate?!! Smile

  49. adamized says:

Wouldn’t 11-11-11 be a great day for an album release?!!!!

nkd you are brilliant! Now, if only the single would come out soon. Not 9-11 but any other day early in Sept would be great.

  50. Kradamour says:

Wouldn’t 11-11-11 be a great day for an album release?!!!!

nekkid, that might be a brilliant thought. Don’t know if Adam has much say in the exact date the album drops, but I can see that this date might appeal to him, there is a definite mystical bent to his thinking sometimes.

Always remembered with chocolate? Would you prefer liver and onions, cherie? We were toasting someone sweet, not (un)savory! LOL
