Agree with the Hollywood Reporter – Adam’s voice is submerged somewhat in the sound – disappointed –
“. . . the soundtrack album that the actors are lip-synching to has been overproduced to the point that almost all vocal distinctiveness is gone and then those vocals get pushed down in the mix. It’s one thing when Disney-ified singers like Justice and McCartan are produced to sound smoothed out and undistractingly bland, but Lambert and Carney both have recognizable voices and ample rock-musical chops, which you’d never know from “Time Warp” and “Hot Patootie.”
Re that HR review: They were never going to please everyone. The reviewer is obviously a RHPS “fan”.
His criticism of the overproduction of the soundtrack may be legitimate, although the songs I’ve heard sound pretty good, but everything else is just preference and basically criticizing them for staying too close to the original.
I always felt that this was intended for a new younger audience and as an homage to the original. The trailers have looked good so I have hopes that this production lives up to our expectations. We’ll see on Thursday!
I have to admit that on first listen to Hot Patootie I was missing the clarity of Adam’s vocals but it’s a fun song.

I hate reviews that overanalyse stuff. Especially when they are diehard fans of a previous performance and fixated on comparing every little detail, also to make themselves sound very intellectual blah blah blah.
Anyway, looking forward to a fun entertaining show with a great cast. I love Hot Patootie, think he did a fab job with it, lots of high riffs.
It’s not Kenny’s fault that none of the sexual stuff is shocking or mysterious anymore lol – “the times they have a-changed,” just listen to coverage of the election – it’s more shocking.

Someone posted the online SF Chronicle review of RHPS, but I was so thrilled when I went out at my usual 5:30 in the morning to retrieve the paper to see it featured not only in the entertainment section, but right up there as a grabber on the front page of the Chron.
I know, I know, not so many of us left that actually like the crinkle and snap of a fresh paper in the morning. But glad I have it to look at and so happy to see the “little man jumping out of his seat” highest accolade. Can’t wait to watch, and hope some of the naysayers just relax and enjoy!

I just left London on the train. I’m sad to say that I did not have any Brian sightings, but… I did see Morgan Freeman! He was sitting in the same row a few seats away from me last night at Kinky Boots. He passed right in front of me to exit the row at intermission. It looked like he was being escorted back stage by one of the ushers. He’s one of my favorite actors so seeing him was a nice surprise and adequate compensation for not spotting Brian.
I’m also a great fan of the print version of the newspaper. We get the Washington Post every morning and I read it faithfully. I really miss it when I’m out of town. The online version is not the same.
I get and read The Miami Herald daily, and hubby the Fort Lauderdaie Sun Sentinel. The paper paper is expensive though, so I can see why many are not taking it anymore. We just can’t deal with the digital version, like scanning the big pages to read, and so made the conscious decision to support it, and our delivery guy (does both papers).

Wishes Adam had the lead. People get so hung up on Cox’s real life gender. Curry wasn’t a transvestite in real life but he played the role. Cox is playing a role too, and many transvestites look a lot like women, boobs and all.
Personally, I just don’t care, just think it’ll be a fun show.

Just finished watching Guys choices…..the only one I disagree with was swapping Timmy with Zebulen….I would have kept Zebulen, I really like him. And it seems I’m in the minority, but I love Davey…he’s just such a typical Ozzie, good voice, great emotion, wears his heart on his sleeve.

That’s one of my favorite songs, riskylady – and that was a magnificent performance – then had to watch the Brixton Academy 1993 one AGAIN – love that one, too – and then “Headlong” – really fell down the Brian rabbit hole – he’s so damn sexy in his own way and that guitar – just DAMN!!!!
