September was a month full of surprises – Adam on Idol, Adam out and about and then to wrap up the month, the announcement of the UK and European Q+AL tour in early 2015. Can’t wait to see what October has in store! In the meantime, we’ll continue with the weekly walk down memory lane and revisit the summer’s concerts.

    Although this version of the song has been performed countless times on singing competitions ever since Adam Lambert stunned viewers on American Idol with his version, in 2009, The Voice singer does bring his own vocal interpretation to the proceedings.

    Yes – that same version of Mad World is also on that Carter Matt website posted above.

    It’s a decent performance – nothing world-shaking, but quite listenable.

    In case anyone cares, the kid that sang Mad World made it through.

    I love coconut water and tried the brand that Adam was drinking in Tribeca…Zico. Awful. Watered down from concentrate. Am surprised he drinks it. Back to my Vita Coco.

    Antares rocket exploded on takeoff from Wallops Island, Virginia – if successful, peeps here were waiting to see it in the sky. (Son-in-law is NASA engineer – out of the country right now – interested to get his take on this when he gets back.)

    Thanks for the Toronto concert video mils. You got my day off to a really good start. You can see quite a few ALL-ers on that video. The moment when he sings “Sisters, I’ll live and lie for you. Misters, I’ll do and die for you.” is perfect. Just decided it must mean all of the sisters and misters in the fandom.

    Luckily no one was hurt in that explosion. Interesting about the amount of Ukrainian and Russian technology incorporated into the space program. I wonder how long the space station can do without the cargo they were shipping.

    Great catch, ulti. The guy actually points at Adam and says something to the girl in the middle and she responds “I know”. Think the guy on the right might actually be saying “Man, this guy can saaang!”

    saw that pic of them in the car earlier luval on twitter….I just assumed it was an older one because of the jacket he was wearing, but on looking again I can see the tache is the new version…(which I’m not keen on)…hopefully he’s just grown it like that for Halloween.

    That Taylor guy is okay but not a patch on Adam, goes without saying. IMHO, Adam’s first performance of Mad World was better that the finale, except for that last bum note. Just Adam, a chair and magic. The moment where he stands up and the audience explodes is a real rush. Perhaps it was the unexpectedness of it but it is very moving.

    A lot of people missed the first Mad World because the show ran overtime. I sometimes wonder if Adam might have picked up a few more fans a bit earlier if everyone had seen that performance.

    That was what did it for me, TLKC. I had never seen Idol, was passing by my husband’s room (he had a small TV), heard Mad World and stopped dead in my tracks in the hallway. Riveted. Instant addiction.

    I’ve actually always preferred the finale Mad World……and I’ve often wondered whether Simon only gave him a standing O because they were so far over time and couldn’t let any of the judges speak…..i have never actually said that out loud before, but have thought it often….I’m not saying Adam didn’t deserve it, but I thought other songs he did deserved it more, like AGIGC….

    My thought on the guy on the right in that AOBTD video was that the guy was with the band, had to watch Adam sing & follow along so he could sing back-up correctly.

    I’m in a minority HK fan and it may have to do with the sheer unexpectedness of the performance and the intensity of the moment because my TV started with the next show!!!! and then the screen went black. Shock Shock Shock I started screaming and switching back and forth between CTV and FOX (shows on both channels in Canada) until someone somewhere won the argument and Adam came back on.

    Anyway, both versions are awesome.
