September was a month full of surprises – Adam on Idol, Adam out and about and then to wrap up the month, the announcement of the UK and European Q+AL tour in early 2015. Can’t wait to see what October has in store! In the meantime, we’ll continue with the weekly walk down memory lane and revisit the summer’s concerts.

    Oh Glambot. My dear Glambot. I have waxed poetic about the many wonders of Rocky Horror so many times here over the years. I simply have spent so many hours of my life, in years gone by in viewing it, interacting with it, and having too many good times to count.

    It has a silly, ridiculous plot. Over-done costumes. Over acting, ham-bone dancing, ludicrous happenings, yet, I just love it. I had the record , yes, a real long playing vinyl record that you played on a …what was it called?…Oh yes, a “record player”. We used to go to midnight showings on Saturday nights in my city at the Oriental Theatre and in Madison in another old movie house behind the state capitol , just off the square, I think it was the Strand.

    We brought bags of stuff to re-enact with, to throw, to cover our heads, rice, water guns, newspapers, rolls of toilet paper, frankfurters, lighters, even, I must admit, meatloaf.

    Yes, we even tossed meatlof into the air.

    ** wipes a tear of sweet memories **

    All of these things, and more, were based on plot and dialogue.

    Well, not the meatloaf. That was an homage to Meatloaf.

    I will admit that I once wore PJ’s and a Mickey Mouse set of ears to a midnight viewing. Yes. I did.

    And my friend painted himself gold and wore a huge feathered boa and heels and fishnet stockings that I helped tear in just the right places.

    So, yes, Rocky Horror holds a special place in my heart.

    mils, can you come visit me this weekend? Many Rocky Horror shows going on. I just may go to one of them. I am Magenta. Have always been.

    glambotgram, you are probably correct about FYE. People will most likely vote for Pretty Women. It’s safer and more familiar.

    I had a girlfriend who had never seen the movie. Took her several years ago. She walked out half way through. Just didn’t get it. And this was a theater that allowed all the props.

    Too bad luval. You are so right, some just don’t get it. But we do!!!

    I would looove to come and play with you, but, alas, my travel fund is in need of repair. It got broken this summer. QAL did it. It’s QAL’s fault.

    Anyway, have a good time without me!

    They don’t allow many props anymore. But, the re-enactors have their own stage and are just fantastic. My city holds the record for most years of uninterrupted Saturday night midnight showings.Since January of 1978. The whole cast came here for the 25th and 30th ( 40th??) anniversary. It made the papers. I remember the young reporters being quite perplexed at the whole thing.

    I just snerked to myself snidely at home, and danced a little Time Warp in tribute.

    I still watch it yearly on MTV or VH1. Turned up to 11.

    Wonder where my old record is?

    Taylor adds that the group did film a show in Sydney and also recorded audio every night, which will result in some sort of release “that will be out there at some point,” though no details have been determined.

    I hope so!

    I know nothing about cars so I will bow to anyone who knows enough to say that the wrap-around headlights show it is such-and-such a year. However it goes, he has a new car and it seems to be a model that he has had his eye on since at least GN Hawaii.

    Also bow to the people who figured out he was a Time Warper – the curl looked so much like Marcus. Maybe it’s a private joke or homage. IMHO, Adam is losing in the Hallowe’en costume poll because his outfit is so hard to place.

    Next year he needs to get a really good costume out upfront. Laugh

    Yes, ulti, Toronto has a new mayor. Phew!

    It was a bit of a nail-biter last night. A close race until the last 30 minutes. Don’t know if it’s true but the Ontario Premier (equivalent of US Governor) reportedly yelled “Hallelujah!” when they told her; and they are from different parties. Laugh A good sign.

    Love Rocky Horror. All 6 kids in our family were into it and we used to go to the midnight showing together with all of our friends (the family that time warps together….)

    During this period, my father died very suddenly and we were all trying to spend as much time at home as possible with my mother, who was very sad for a very long time.

    One Friday night we were all dressed up and ready to go and I looked at my poor mother sitting there sadly and said, wthout really thinking it out: “Do you want to come?” She said yes. Shock Shock Shock

    The look on the face of the guy at the door who was frisking people for alcohol was pricless. He told her: “I don’t think I need to check you.”

    Watching that kind of film with a parent is a bit weird. I kept wondering “WTF does she think of this?” When we got to the part where Frank-n’Furter, dressed in garters, starts chasing a guy around the room I freaked! I slid a glance her way and she was laughing her head off!

    Two nights later we were still sitting around at 7PM with no meal in sight. Finally one of us asked “What’s for dinner?” My mother jumped up and yelled “MEATLOAF!”

    She had waited all evening for one of us to ask. And the meatloaf was pretty good, actually.

    P.S. She never again complained about the confetti that we routinely shed all over the house after a show.
