After a busy September with an abundance of positive reviews of Adam’s appearance with Queen and on Avicii’s “True”, October should be a quiet month. He will be busy on GLEE but those shows will only be broadcast starting in November. Let’s hope for leaks and treats to keep us chatting – as if we needed an excuse!
Enjoy the chat!

$10 for no ads and full album streaming? Can do that on MOG for $4.95 a month – and better sound.

I always regret not seeing Madonna in her hey day. She is great IMO. On stage was always “appropriate” props, dancers, etc. Now that jump roping is hard and exhausting! Have to be pretty fit to do that.

New York Post review of Brian May’s book

    http://nypost.com/2013/10/23/queens-brian-may-takes-readers-on-a-3-d-tour-of-hell/

I like this last line of the article:
““As soon as you press that Queen button, life really does change,” May says. “You get sucked back into the vortex. Queen is all-consuming.”

  11. aely says:

You guys are more than welcome!

So, I have done some looking and here is the same agency price list from late 2011. Adam has gone up quite a bit. Interesting. I thought he used to command more but not sure why I think that.
We Are The Fallen (Carly Smithson) $5-10k
    Blake Lewis $10k+
    Lee DeWyze $15-25k
    Crystal Bowersox $15-25k
    Danny Gokey $30k+
    David Archuleta $30-40k
    David Cook $30-50k
    Adam Lambert $40-50k+
    Kellie Pickler $50-60k
    Fantasia $50-75k
    Clay Aiken $85-100k+
    Jennifer Hudson $100k+
    Daughtry $200-300k+
    Kelly Clarkson $350-500k+
    Carrie Underwood $350-500k+
    Kris Allen $15-25k

Done some investigating and it looks like travel, band etc is included in the fees the exception is the artists rider which varies a lot depending on demands. You can hire a 3rd party to do negotiations and take on the responsibility of all liabilities, which is probably smart, but that adds on another I would say $50,000. It is doable but it would take a ton of work and would have to find a venue. Which could be a banquet room in a hotel that really wouldn’t be that expensive. Also, you would want to hold the concert in a hub city for airlines like DFW, ORD (Chicago), NC,LAX,Denver, etc. Cheapest tickets and easiest travel and also which location has a cheaper venue and hotel rates. Dallas is cheaper than Chicago, for example. Anyway, could a “kickstarter” campaign work for something like this? Not sure how it would work and no way would I or anyone should try this and just hope people would pay.

LOL, I need to start my job soon….Still, sounds like it could be tons of fun!!

  12. luval says:

I need to start my job soon

lolaely, of course you mean the job of putting together our own private concert! You’d be perfect for this!

Brian May tweeted this ponderous article from The Guardian, claiming that Queen hasn’t influenced any other bands lol. Read the comments, lol, where one reader LISTS a ton of bands who have cited Queen’s influence. NME also mentioned, not exactly in a good way. They’re the ones who wrote about Queen and Fun – no Adam.

@DrBrianMay: http://t.co/m4oZV0fW2b They might just as well say “Music critics have on the whole been very dull and very stupid for a very long time !”

I love your work with Adam Lambert. I’m a big fan of his, and I’m so impressed by his vocal abilities and talent — he’s such a charismatic singer. Can we expect any more touring next year with him?
I would love it to happen. Since we did the iHeartRadio Festival, there’s been a lot of talk and yes, we’re looking at it to see what we could do. I don’t think we want to press the button to do nine months on the road like we used to do, because we did that for so many years, but I think a few choice dates could be great. We’re looking at it, and I certainly hope that we’d be able to come up with a scheme that works. Yeah, we love Adam, we really do. Like you say, he’s the whole deal — he’s an extraordinary singer with an extraordinary instrument. He’s an entertainer, he’s original and he’s a nice guy. That’s very important these days. If you’re going to work with someone, you’ve got to enjoy them as a person and we certainly do.

  16. riskylady says:

I would only want a private concert with good acoustics….otherwise, not worth it OMHO. Don’t want anything like that Atlanta “Jezebel” mag gig, remember? Our first listen of the amazing Chokehold, tantalizingly with bad acoustics Frown

  17. 808glam says:

asif, thanks for posting the ‘Adam got lei’d at HNL AP’ video… had not seen it and love it living in Hawaii… unfortunately, missed those concerts as had not discovered AFL at the time… so, never met any of you there, either… sounds like you all had a great time…

ginger, I so agree with your post on the earlier page re Queen needing to play with Adam a few of his own songs… there are several I think would sound great with Queen as the band… like TFM SFW MA CHOKEHOLD… or even something new from Adam or maybe Queen & Adam… we will see…

  19. aely says:

As a Queen “purist” NO, NO, NO to singing Adam’s songs with Queen. LOL. It honestly would irritate me. They did that with Paul and it drove me nuts. I couldn’t stand to hear it. But, that is just me and my bias. I would bet other Queen fans would take issue with that as well. Now, new Queen songs I am on board with!! I am POSITIVE and know I am in the minority!!

risky Yep, right there is why I don’t think it would be easy to take something like this on. Everyone would have an opinion. Too far, too expensive, need better acoustics, bad date, etc…I appreciate the confidence luval and would honestly love to do it but I would need help and someone that is nicer than me to deal with everyone. LOL!

Well, if we ever decide to even consider doing this I would help you, aely. I’m not nicer than you but I am a very detailed and organized person. Just no computer tech skills!

  22. riskylady says:

Hahahaha, aely, “someone that is nicer than me….” That would rule me out right away lolol. You are much nicer than a lot of people I know!
I’m afraid I agree with you about not mixing Adam’s music with Queen, and I strongly believe Adam himself would agree. I know they have some unpublished songs – would maybe be nice to break out a couple, but mostly I want to hear his interpretation of additional songs – Innuendo, Killer Queen, Hard Life, duet with Brian of Too Much Love Will Kill You like he did with Pavarotti…there are so many to choose from.
And I prefer Adam’s music to stand on it’s own, he’s just working on maturing his own body of work. Prefer that it grow on its own.

  26. HK fan says:

I hadn’t seen that backstage Idol tour interview before I don’t think, so sweet, his face when he said his parents were so proud….

I thought I had seen something before on MJ’s about Adam getting $150-250k, although the more extensive list posted yesterday seems more accurate than the Idols list. I’m always surprised how much Clay Aitken commands, just can’t see it, especially now as he hasn’t done anything in forever.

I think I agree with the no Adam songs with Queen, but maybe they could do a couple of unknown Queen songs, that then kind of become his…

spent yesterday evening rewatching Rove LA with Adam and Russell Brand…so funny.

luval Good, I hate details. But, yes, put me in that role of project development and I can give Adam a run for his money of HBIC. I can at least look into it and see what in entails if you guys think people would do it. Opinions? Risky who knows I may need HBIC x2!

  39. ultimathule says:

Whatta great video, riskylady – and, yes, beautifully done.

  40. luval says:

aely, I would love to know if fans would really be interested. I don’t think this has ever been done before. Those kick starters are for helping an artist put an album together, but fans actually bringing an artist, in this case Adam to a self funded venue? We’d be on the national news I think! Am exaggerating but dollar wise I’d love to see what the numbers are. Tomorrow I’ll contact my drummer friend and see if he has any suggestions.

It’s hard posting from my iPhone when I’m tired! So good nite and will continue this conversation later!

aely, I recall that listing of booking prices from a couple of years ago. This may be recent:
    http://www.celebritytalent.net/sampletalent/1207/adam-lambert/
Adam made $250,000 for Pittsburgh Pride. I’m sure he’ll earn much more at places that sell rooms and alcohol, etc! Especially holidays like New Year’s! I forgot to mention GAMBLING revenue, lol!!
Also, Ivy Levan corrected her tweet. She’s performing at Bootsy Bellows Oct 31, which Adam is hosting.
    http://instagram.com/p/flaSM5sZ_I/
I made gifs of that old elevator madness video and other stuff here:
    http://lilybop2012.blogspot.com/2013/10/poll-people-want-to-be-stuck-in.html
That listing is a college booking agency and is exactly what I saw online a couple of years ago. I remember scouring it. It is NOT new and has nothing to do with the venues Adam is booking now. Those are the same prices listed a couple of years ago because Adam doesn’t play colleges.

  43. Kradamour says:

I would go to a concert that we made happen. I think it’s brilliant and thought so the ladt time we talked about it, too. We pay hundreds of dollars for a stubhub ticket, why not let Adam have that money?
I’m a lawyer if anyone needs free legal advice that may only be worth what you pay for it.
    Wink

Re location…ideally I think it should also be in a location with a critical mass of peeps who could drive, i.e. Within a 600 mile radius, a comfortable day on the road, perhaps even as far as 700 miles.
I think it is important that it be as inexpensive as possible so that peeps who want to come are able to. (Other than Adam’s fee, of course.)

You realize, of course, that if we actually pull this off, and set an example, he’ll never have to look for another gig for the rest of his life…he’ll be able to just wait for fans to create one concert after another.
It would be worth it just to see him be able to thumb his nose at RCA.

    I’m in.
    Let’s hold it in Quebec.

If you’re looking for a central location what about the St. Louis area. Isn’t it the Gateway to the west? It’s a metropolitan area but perhaps not as expensive as Chicago. I think the airport is quite large and direct flights are possible from many places. The spring would be great as summers can be very hot and humid.Just a thought if you’re trying for a truly central area.
