Well, turquoise – when I watched on TV I had the sound blasting so here, where the sound is not as good – sort of “muffled” – it’s hard to tell if when aired it was altered or Nate’s enhanced. (Turned it off after Adam.)
Really think they’d do that?

Hey everyone. I just finished watching iHeart, and feel sooo disappointed in what they chose to broadcast, what they left out, and the fact that they had Nate from Fun closing it out instead of Adam. Whew! Just needed to get that out there. I’m trying not to feel too angry, but it just seems so unfair that Adams stellar vocals are cut out, and he is relegated to singing behind a(nice), but inferior singer. Can anyone give me a different perspective? How did you all perceive the show tonight?

I also felt that the sound was so different than the live stream, or any of the YouTube videos. The balance was horrible for the band and Adam, yet fine when Nate sang.

Well, LolaGlamb, think if people had a choice they’d rather look at Adam as well as hear him. Nate’s sorta homely and his jumping around like a jelly bean is not particularly attractive. Decent voice and enthusiastic is about it.
Saw one tweet that said “didn’t know Lambert could sing like that.” So, guess we always want more and know what’s missing, but for some, maybe it’s an introduction to someone they didn’t really know or lost track of.
He’s on again tomorrow? We can check out the sound then, I guess.

Just compare original 28:00 with broadcast 3:20.
IDK but I would not rule it out. Gotta let it go and look at the bright side though, which is that the whole IHeartFestival gig was a huge win.

Nate didn’t sound good in his segment – especially during that first song – remember I went ouch at one note.
I’m listening to that HD performance of Nate’s – sounds nasally and off-key at times.
Is there a YT of what they showed of his performance tonight? Would like to compare these two.
Could be. Too many variables and I am too biased a listener to make any conclusions. I did not find a youtube of Nate’s part as it was broadcasted tonight.

How can Adam being on national tv be a downer? And he is
on both nights. Who else is?
I watched the show with my partner who liked Adam on Idol but has not followed him since like I do. He puts up with my “boyfriend” and my involvement on this blog following Adam’s career. He mentioned that Adam sounded great and said that Adam is probably the only one who could do the Queen songs justice. He thought he was charismatic and even mentioned that being all in black, Adam seemed to be one of the band.

Started my morning by watching a youtube of last night’s TV queenbert. My reaction was the same as some of yours – I had to put the volume to maximum to hear Adam and I thought the music overpowered him, which was not the case on earlier vids ans stream
I was hoping that it was only the recording, not the tv show itself. It really pisses me of if they deliberately toned Adam down!
Anyway, a lot of great reactions despite of that. And I am really hoping for WWTLF tonight. It was out of this world and blew people away.

AL, I am so glad that you wrote about your partner’s response to last night’s show. I think that that was probably the response of most “normal” people who heard Adam’s voice. Even toned down, his voice is head and shoulders above that of anyone else out there. And let’s face it. Most people don’t listen that closely to the nuances and haven’t heard and compared the various videos and recording of Adams’ voice to pay attention to the differences like we do. Whatever has been behind the decisions to keep Adam’s career in the States less than we think it deserves to be, both by TPTB and the listening masses, the thing that changes it won’t be the quality of the recording on last night’s show. What the less that perfect version of a perfect performance did was to make people who hadn’t noticed him before sit up and pay attention.

Popping in this morning, feeling physically a bit better, and just wanted to post about the show last night. ( nkd, hope your sniffles are getting better too )
I agree with jlurks. Adam on TV is not a bad thing. He looked fantastic. He sounded great on my TV. There were more backstage peeks at him than anyone else, IMHO.
Only in our microcosm of a bubble of fandom do these critiques bear any weight:
-The sound was “off”, it was harder to hear Adam than in vids and IHeart professional vid .
-No WWTLF. That needs to be said again: NO WWTLF
-Nate’s vocals were still pitchy at times, but no doubt enhanced. But, I still stand by what I posted the day of the show when it was announced that they would be doing a duet; Fun. is current and very popular. I do think that even though it meant overall less solo time for Adam, it was still a win.
-WWRY and WATC were edited for time, shortened, and most vocal runs and wails were simply gone, as well as that audio fail/screech.
-They cut to the audience a lot,and our boy lost screen time.
-They seemed to highlight Nate by closing out the show with him and his song. Albeit, it looked like great fun, and the crowd loved it. It left the TV audience thinking that that was how they closed out the actual night at the MGM, and we know it was with Adam.
-Katy’s comments were very nice.
And, back to what jlurks so wisely said: He’ll be on again tonight. Nobody else but him (and Nate ) will be on for two nights. Oh, and Queen too!

…staring at picture…must peel eyeballs off screen…shower…coffee…work…real life…dammit.
I watched the iHeart concert on the DVR when I got home. Probably because I’ve had so much on my mind otherwise, I came into this broadcast with little forethought and no prior expectations about or investment in what songs were broadcast from Q+A’s set or how it was broadcast. All I knew was that they had to scrunch a 5-hour concert into a 2-hour broadcast with lots of ads, so we weren’t going to get much, maybe 2-3 songs at the most, and that no matter which 2-3 songs they picked, we’d of course wish they had picked more or different ones.
Viewed from my rather non-invested perspective, I thought the broadcast was great! I came here and was surprised to see the unhappiness about it. I had no complaints about the sound. Different recordings always have a slightly different mix re: vocals vs. instruments. I did think that Nate sounded better on STL than I remembered. But I certainly don’t think they tried to make Nate sound better than Adam, or turned Adam down on purpose.
All of the artists only had 1-2 songs broadcast, so WWRY and WATC make perfect sense to me as the two they chose from Q+A. Even though WWTLF was an amazing performance and we would love for the world to see it, I did not and would not expect to see it broadcast on a show like this. They are focusing on broadcasting either the artists’ new music, or their popular, familiar stadium stompers. As much as we love it, WWTLF is neither. And of course they’re going to pimp and broadcast the surprise collaborations like Queen and fun, because those surprise collabs are one of the things that the iHeart concert prides itself on and makes a big deal about.
I thought it was wonderful that they showed Katy’s clip where she praises Adam and underscores how worthy he is of fronting Queen. And like mils said, they showed lots of backstage peaks at him.
I see nothing here but positives! Of course we always want nothing less than the best possible showcase for him, but Adam sounded amazing and looked fantastic singing iconic Queen songs with Queen in a nationally televised high-profile concert! He shined! And the audience gets to see him shine again tomorrow night too! Celebrate the positives!
JMHO and all. I don’t mean to diminish anyone’s complaints or feelings of disappointment in the broadcast. But for me anyway, life’s too short to sweat the small stuff and I’m celebrating victories where I find them.
Watched the show on my local station (thank-you God!) Live-tweeted Queen + Adam Lambert a lot
. Lots of casual fans tweeting how impressed they were. Favourite tweet from a non-fan: “Wow, Adam Lambert is a total babe!”
Disappointing that they let Nate close but not the end of the world. I honestly don’t think they enhanced Nate’s vocals any more than they might have enhanced a few other people’s (i.e. to improve the show.) He sounded off in enough places for there to be no comparison between him and Adam. I will have to re-watch WWRY and WATC because I don’t recall the sound being off. Maybe I was too excited. I just loved it.
Cher and I bet Ron that WWTLF would be shown. Queen was certainly given enough time for it but FBG is what #iHeart chose. Go figure.
I tweeted #iHeartRadio and @CW_Network throughout the show and ventured to suggest that they take the whole 35-minute set and roll in some interviews for a one-hour special. Heeeee!

Just a guess why the CW show closed with FUN, not Adam – they are in the business of making money and they need all the viewers they can get to keep their advertisers happy. It has nothing to do with the quality of singer; FUN is a bigger draw (for now
) than Adam.

Now I really don’t see any negativity or downers here. It’s just people’s opinions! And if they want to opine a little disappointment than so be it. Nothing wrong with that. Personally !!!IMO!!! I would have liked more Adam but I kinda knew what we would get. There was no way to cram that 5 hour show into 2 hours with commercials. And as mils said Nate is on for 2 nights as others could be too.
I think my favorite is the interview with Katy Perry. I never listened to that link when it was first posted but what a nice thing to say about Adam.
Adam looked great and I am disappointed that we (probably) will not be getting WWTLF.
luval, I would venture a guess that everyone on this blog, posters and lurkers alike, agrees with your opinion.
And I would guess that the fans of all the other performers are saying exactly the same about their favorites having significant parts of their acts cut. As you and others have said, that is the reality of cramming a 5 hour show into 2 hours. But all in all, I think it was a huge win/win for Adam and Queen. I didn’t see the show, just vids of Adam’s bit, but did any other performers get a taped introduction like Katy gave Adam? That was just wonderful. And it was very long, considering the time constraints. To anyone who might not have been paying attention to the show, it said loud and clear, Watch this next guy, he is great!
Well – here’s October – a quiet month? We’ve said that before – lol. Just never know with this guy – keeping stuff much closer to the vest this time around, it appears to me.
And what’s his costume going to be for Halloween this time around? Suspect he might try something new – vampire thingee getting too last year?

I am very glad to see that many of you think this gets Adam back to the light in US. 
He so deserves it!
I follow Glee season 4 on my TV now, and enjoy watching it. I really like how they mix the songs to the story and many characters are sweet and talented. Can’t wait for Adam to be on – I have to catch up to season 5 before November. I had all the tabs open but then I lost them all – need to search again the ones that worked for me…
And always crack up at that “gesture” in FBG – hope they keep THAT in tonight – boy’s irrepressible – thank gawd.
