Well, fall has arrived and it’s time for our October chat thread. This is the sixth monthly chat we’ve had on the site. Thought about using a Burning Man photo for this month, but decided to continue with the Adam getting awards theme with this photo of Adam and Leila at the 2nd annual PFLAG National LA Event.

Still hoping for a new single sometime soon, but maybe not this month. Enjoy the chat!

Welcome twilightmajic8!!!!! As for the AMA’s…I picture solo Adam dressed to kill, looking tall and thin and gorgeous. Just him, a piano, and the mic in the spotlight, nailing whatever the hell song he wants to sing. Yup, that’ll about do it, I think! Any questions? heh heh heh Smile

  2. Ron says:

Pipe dream, I know, but I’m with those who’d love to see Adam on the AMA’s. To have that platform to demonstrate to “them” and the rest of the world his tremendous growth and maturity these past 2 years as an artist? Redemption! It could possibly cut in half the “collective eye-rollers” out there and draw in countless new fans.

This is, of course, if the single is any good. Smile

It’s that time of year again and, as it was last year, it’s a write-in vote for Adam for The People’s Choice Award.

    http://www.peopleschoice.com/pca/nominations

I voted MULTIPLE times this morning but not sure if each and every vote counts Confused:

Welcome, twilightmagic8! I had a feeling you might be the same person, but was afraid to ask. Your avatar is gorgeous and quite unforgettable.

Ron, I bow to your votery skills! All I can say is WOW!

That Riff is getting cuter by the minute, glad he has his Dad to document it for our pleasure!

Nice article in the Huffington Post about the Advocate cover, with added bonus of several videos!

  5. riskylady says:

Agree with Planet Fierce. I would love to see Adam on the AMA’s with just a piano and mike, just letting that gorgeous voice wash over the audience and remind them what it’s all about. No other male in pop/rock has that right now. Show them that Adele isn’t the only one who can “sang.”

  6. luval says:

Still not too sure if I want Adam on the AMA’s. He might just want to move on from that. But if he were to appear I would love to hear Outlaws of Love. Just my opinion of course. With a piano or guitar…beautiful lighting. Much of the music on these awards shows is very bombastic and crazy but if Adele can’t sing, would love it to be Adam.

And hi twilightmajic8. I remember you from Mj’s too as 8jean8 when I first started posting!

I’ll be traveling this weekend, so here are the next couple of GNT recaps:

10/20/10 – Adam and company play the sold out Enmore Theatre in Sydney. Adam was in a good mood at this show Smile

    http://www.adamlambertlive.org/2011/gnt-sydney-australia-102010

10/22/10 – the Glam Nation Tour wraps up its Australian segment at the Tivoli Theatre in Brisbane:

    http://www.adamlambertlive.org/2011/gnt-brisbane-australia-102210

The tour enjoyed a couple of days off after Brisbane, next up would be a pair of U.S. dates in Honolulu. After that, there was a 10 day break before the European leg of the tour kicked off in Helsinki, Finland. As it turned out, Adam’s visit to that city would be quite an important moment!

A bit of a milestone is coming up for the site, it looks like comment number 10,000 (overall in all threads combined) will be posted sometime in the next few days. I’ll try to keep an eye on things from my phone and see if I can tell who posts it. No extraneous dot comments just to drive the count up though! Smile

I agree with Ron. I think a well done performance on the AMA’s would be vindication. He doesn’t need choreography, he doesn’t need so much action, just let the boy saaang!

Adam, on a stool, sleek slim black slacks, sleek slim black jacket, no gloves, gorgeous minimal makeup, hair high as the ceiling, {{ mopping the brow now. Geebus, that image still gets me }}…

  12. milwlovesadam says:

Think I’ll go re-visit Australia. He was quite randy then.

Then came my Hawaii. Two shows and a M&G. I can taste the Mai Tai’s now, just thinking about it!

Hi, all. Sorry if this has already been posted (I’ve been on the go all day and am just now winding down), but I saw a tweet from a Houston radio station and wanted to share it just in case it hasn’t yet been discovered by any of you Adam enthusiasts! Apparently, they’ll be talking to Adam at 8:40 p.m. tonight. I’ll go now in search of their tweet.

    ETA: OK, here’s their tweet:

NVM- must have been this morning, and I saw a comment on their fb that it was a year-old interview.

  14. milwlovesadam says:

    Ahem. Attention please.

In case anyone has forgotten. I mean, in case. I would direct you to the Brisbane Sleepwalker. I do believe we had voted it the most fierce of the tour.

I think we got it right.

  15. luval says:

Something Adam said has confused me the last couple of days. In the Advocate interview he says in regards to his album’s personal nature:

“Let people underneath my facade a little bit…a self created and totally admitted facade. I’m trying to convey to my audience that you really can’t judge a book by it’s cover and there’s more to the universe than you can see with your eyes”

Was he talking to peeps other than “us”? Adam has always said there is nothing hidden, that we know everything about him. What am I missing or am I reading too much into this?

We know what he allows us to know. He has said before that he is all “smoke and mirrors” which I believe refers to his theater background. He likes to play dress up, he is really a freckled ginger, he loves to put on a show. Yes, we know these things about him, but do we get to see the real Adam? …the Adam who may still be insecure, because he knows his “look” is all pretend…the Adam puts it all out there on the stage, then worries afterward that he might have gone too far? We know he has no regrets about anything he’s done, but do we know how much of the negativity he takes to heart? We see his self-made facade and know there is more underneath it. It’s one thing to know it with our heads, perhaps we will see more of him with our hearts in the new album. Not sure he understands that many of us already do.

I love Sleepwalker in all of it’s forms. I think I prefer the more vulnerable version of the song over the fierce one, but love the fierce Adam.

  18. Ellessay says:

It sure has been an Octoberly month. Sigh…

Think we’ll get another “free” calendar next year? I told my husband that this one was because I went to one of his concerts. Not sure how I’ll explain the next one!

    Hmmm…honey, I guess I’m just on the mailing list…

  19. Kradamour says:

    Saw that too, luval.
I think that he was mostly talking to more casual fans, or cray fans who see what they want to see, and not-yet-fans. A couple of times lately he has referred to the FYE album cover with almost an element of chagrin, has said that GN was all a show, not by any means who he really is…part of it might even be the Tommy kiss, Adam seems genuinely upset that many fans are still shipping him with Tommy, and don’t get that it was all just for entertainment value.

It may also be a way to tone down expectations that album/tour #2 would be equally campy or OTT. If the fanbase (especially the casual fanbase) is looking for another FYE except even more-so, then the album Adam has been talking about creating will def not meet those expectations.

That’s the way I see it, anyway.

  20. luval says:

Ellessay…the last line of your post I believe answers my question. And he’s just like the rest of us in our insecurities, uncertainties and faults.

hi kradamour…thanks for your post too. Sometimes I think these things but you guys just know how to say them!

  21. luval says:

haha people were questioning the other day about Adam’s twitter that he didn’t know what “shipping” was and didn’t believe he didn’t know. Well I didn’t either!

  22. ultimathule says:

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – I believe Adam is far more complicated than he lets on. He may say that he is honest to a fault and, I believe, that at a certain level that is true. But that’s his public life, not his inner one. To tell the truth, I’m just as happy if he keeps it private – to tell all is to be a bore. Love a good mystery.

  23. nkd says:

I agree with all of your posts. My feeling is that Adam was referring to what we see on stage, on red carpet events, etc. But I think we have seen and know to an extent who he really is. Of course there is that element of his personal life that we have only seen glimpses, and that’s how it should be. I think in these new songs we will get to look deeper into his heart, his joy and pain.
FYE and GN was fun, and now that we totally love him, this journey behind that facade may just slay us!
I’m ready! Bring on the new music!

haha people were questioning the other day about Adam’s twitter that he didn’t know what “shipping” was and didn’t believe he didn’t know. Well I didn’t either!

I think he knew exactly what it was. Asking about it was a way to open the conversation. It’s a cray cray world on twitter!

  25. ultimathule says:

Apropos of nothing, I just want to say how fascinated I am by Adam’s choice of dress in The Advocate photos. The black silky top he’s wearing (this is all IMO, of course) reminds me of a negligee – how it clings and seemingly slips off the shoulder. It’s a garment that few men could wear without looking ridiculous. His height, his shoulders, his masculine beauty, and his confidence are the reasons for its success. I love this particular look almost more than anything his imagination has come up with so far.

  26. Kradamour says:

Re “knowing” Adam: I think that it also helps that we have reached the advanced age of 29, with a fair bit of experience. I would like to think that I have learned a few things about people in the past 29 years, and I think that I have. I am much less often surprised by what people do and say than I was when I was younger.

I don’t want to know (and thereby own, to a certain extent) all of Adam. And I don’t think he wants that, either.

But I definitely get the impression that Adam wants us to know him enough that our acceptance of him is based in who he really is, and not just an image. I think he needs to know that we love HIM, and not an imaginary being. I think that part of his twitter demands to “ask better questions!” comes from that.

  27. ultimathule says:

I know one question I’d like to ask – did you throw out your album with 19 and go in an entirely new direction with DMG? Your dad’s tweet would indicate something like that. (Go with your gut.) Level with us, darlin’

    Hi and welcome twilightmagic8!!! Grin

Love your beautiful avi. It goes well with your new name twilightmagic.

Thanks for the photos. Adam is gorgeous.

Adam always looks different than other people.
He didn’t have the flashbulb or red eyes in his eyes. And the tone of his skin is diff. from the other. Either it’s the angle of the camera or he’s an alien. But it happens all the time in most photos.

  30. Kradamour says:

I wish that Adam would stop talking about the album and characterizing it in ever new and different ways!

Lambert also reveals details about the upcoming follow-up to 2009’s “For Your Entertainment,” which he describes as “Nine Inch Nails meets George Michael.”

And this just seems so open-ended for someone who is a self-professed perfectionist… :

“It takes time to get it right,” he said. “I don’t know how other artists do it, but for this project, I’m adopting the mentality of just keep writing and keep recording as much as possible, and then when we know that we’re ready to decide which tracks are going to be on the album, we’ll look at everything and narrow it down.”

Kradamour, your lack of patience is showing! Wink

  41. Kradamour says:

nekkid, I am a very serious Adam fan.
Like many/most of us, I have his wardrobe memorized, his quotes on the tip of my tongue, a youtube discography in my head, an empty bank account, and soon a peace pendant to put around my neck. (woot! shipped yesterday!)
And even I am losing interest!
    Single, shmingle. (shrug)
(Until it is actually released, that is… Rolls Eyes )

  42. nkd says:

And even I am losing interest!

    I hear ya!

  43. Oksana2000 says:

And even I am losing interest!
    Single, shmingle. (shrug)

I am trying to be optimistic.
I don’t believe for a second that Adam came to NYC for the sole purpose to be a guest judge on some obscure contest. As usual he does other things music related that he doesn’t have to tell the whole word about it.Do you remember how he was criticized when he went to Blondes fashion show? We found out later that he was doing other musical showcases, I don’t recall what it was, but it was a plenty.

I think that Adam knows that his future depends on his sophomore album and is a little skeerd.Hence dragging his feet with releasing a new single. He might be shooting himself in a feet , cuz that bastard album that shall not be named is on Amazon at #408,while the new Durbin is at #195.I know that Amazon sales are only a small percentage of total sales, but it shows relative popularity.( FYE is sitting in #1,300 vicinity with Cooks new album nearby)
His fans are desperate for a new music and are buying this piece of crap instead of The Real Thing.
    .
I don’t know what to say anymore. We were so full of hope with the management change,I just hope that any day now we will see a tweet “My new single is out!”

  44. ultimathule says:

Think it’s more emotional exhaustion than lack of interest – I mean how many times can you get your hopes up.
I think he just re-did the whole damn thing and went in an entirely different direction.
And, yes – when it finally hits we may remember this lull with a certain fondness.
Hope to have enough fortitude to get through it.

  45. luval says:

I can wait as long as it takes for the new music. I don’t want to hear from ANYONE including Adam on how great the music is and that we won’t be disappointed. We’ll decide when it’s actually released. I’m happy at this point see a photo of Adam at Starbucks.

  46. nkd says:

Trying really hard not to join the Debbie Downer club! Wink
I’m sure Adam is in NY working. He was just having a good time last night. I would bet that there is hardly anything else on his mind but this album and the singles, except for Sauli!
Does anyone know what the time frame is deciding on a single and actually getting it released? It seems like it takes several weeks to get something up on itunes. And how long to radio?
Will we even see it next month?
Gah, I don’t like being this negative, just not me!

  47. nkd says:

And, yes – when it finally hits we may remember this lull with a certain fondness.
Hope to have enough fortitude to get through it.

And we thought it was going to be tough getting through January 2011! We just didn’t know how quiet it could be!
