Well, fall has arrived and it’s time for our October chat thread. This is the sixth monthly chat we’ve had on the site. Thought about using a Burning Man photo for this month, but decided to continue with the Adam getting awards theme with this photo of Adam and Leila at the 2nd annual PFLAG National LA Event.

Still hoping for a new single sometime soon, but maybe not this month. Enjoy the chat!

Some of my favorite performances from UC are “How Come You Don’t Call Me Anymore”, “You Can’t Win” and “Crazy”. These are songs with some funk, and I love the way Adam’s voice fits with them. (Minus the caberet piano)

  2. riskylady says:

nkd, totally agree about Maggot Brain. Takes you into it’s own little world.
And I can get lost in those UC songs for hours, my fav is “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” just heartbreaking, and “Come Home” too. He’s so damn versatile, he puts so much emotion into those songs. Very, very different from anythiing on Idol and FYE. I’m getting excited too. Let the funk begin!

    And how about this?

American Idol 2009 – Adam sang BorW – Top 13 and then sang ROF – Top 11. There was no 12 – correct. Was a different arrangement that season? Three Top Thirteens or something like that? Could never figure out what was going on. (Checking all my vids tonight – thanks.)

  4. rs says:

(I stand corrected. see nkd’s post after mine)

By the way, the 24/7 blogspot has Adam’s whole Idol journey condensed into 6 vids today. (am I allowed to say that on this blog?) http://adamlamberttv.blogspot.com/

  5. nkd says:

ultimathule, Satisfaction was in the group 2 of the Top 36, they chose 13 instead of 12 to continue from that 36. Top 13 week they performed MJ songs and eliminated 2, so there was no top 12 performance.
Also BTBW and IICHY are both listed as Top 7 performances because of the save being used, and then 2 were eliminated. So no Top 6.

But the show was different that year in the top 36. They had three groups of 12 that performed over 3 weeks choosing 3 from each group with the judges deciding the final 3 or 4 in this case. That’s why we only have 1 song from Adam from these rounds. It’s the only time I remember them doing the semi final rounds this way.

  6. dcglam says:

To all you Texas peeps out there (Texaswannaholdem, nkd, anyone else?)…..
Congratulations on those Rangers of yours as they move on to the World Series!!!

ETA: And good luck to your Brewers this evening, mils. Wink

  7. nkd says:

    Thank you dcglam.

I’ve gotten pulled back into the idol vids now. ROF was so awesome and it may be one of the boldest things he has done. Especially put into the context of everyone else singing songs performed in a country style. It was a “woah, what was that?” moment. He is definitely not afraid of taking chances!

  8. luval says:

    good morning!

nkd…I know I’ve mentioned this before but all I wanted in regards to Adam was 1) ROF live 2) FYE live and 3) to meet him (and sniff him…thanks again for the reminder marmom07)lol. So I got number 1 and 2 several times…once for number 3! But I want more!

marmom07…if you are lurking and are on the fansite, contact me. I am “lola” there.

  9. luval says:

dc glam…does this mean no x-factor tonight or wednesday or thursday?? (Simon would have a cow).

  10. dcglam says:

    luval….
It looks as though X Factor may still be televised this evening.
The Tigers/Rangers game that was scheduled for this evening on FOX will not be needed. As far as I know, the Brewers game is scheduled for a different time and different channel (TBS). Not sure yet what is happening on Wednesday and Thursday. Will have to do more research…… Wink

  11. nkd says:

Haha luval! I still need a hug and a sniff, or just a hi and a handshake would be incredible! I’m so deprived! Wink

    Everyone have a good day!

  12. dcglam says:

He is definitely not afraid of taking chances!

Adam was smart and knew how to play the Idol game. He took many chances on the show — song choices, song arrangements, stage performances, clothes, eyeliner, nail polish, etc., etc., etc. The point is that these risks paid off and made him stand out among all the other contestants. I believe that is what he was going for. Of course, there was also that raw talent — the incredible voice!

Have to admit that I was very worried about Adam being voted off during the ROF week. That was the only time throughout the competition that I worried about him. Well, except for maybe the finale. Frown

  13. ultimathule says:

nkd – thanks so much for that info on S8 – clear now.

Nile also has a blog where he expands on his tweets. “Le freak” tweets about another “freak”, you could say! Wink

    http://www.nilerodgers.com/blogs/planet-c-in-english

I wonder if they will get together when Nile is in LA next week.

  15. riskylady says:

Thanks for that AL! Looks promising! I hope Rodgers continues his book tour to South Fla – would love to go hear him. (I often go to these bookstore events) plus, we have our annual Miami Book Fair coming up in November.

Adam tweeted us “Happy Sunday All”!

Boy sounds bored. Needs to get into the studio and work. Smile

  18. luval says:

Haha kradamour … Yes he needs to start writing, and find collaborators so he can begin recording his néw album. Smile

  19. Ron says:

    Adam’s recording a new album?!??

I really have been away from the dinner table too long. Smile

    Phoning luval right now! Smile

  20. Ron says:

I might have an extra treat in trick-or-“treat” this year if luval joins me! Quiet “Y-A-Y” until it’s official.

I’ve read where many have expressed their concerns about the new CD and I’ve also read the reasoned and interesting responses.

I get the sense that most have come to terms with their frustrations/worries or, at least, have settled for the way its turned out … it is what it is.

I don’t think anyone has expressed my particular concern about all of this but I don’t want to stir up a pot that’s already been stirred … and stirred. Don’t any of you guys own a blender? Wink

mils, you know me well! I love the Tony Bennett CD!! (aside: not one of my favorite BS movies – HaHa – BS? Barbra Streisand – but watched OACDYCSF today. We’ll let non-fans figure that one out. Wink

Kradamour, thanks so much for thinking of me.

    NKD … you, too! Smile

    You are welcome! Smile

  22. nkd says:

Hi Ron! It’s about time you showed up here!

What? A new album? Oooohhh, that’s exciting! So when is Adam starting this project? Wink

  23. Kradamour says:

Ron, chéri! Smile I just finished my tax return (yes, I took an extension, a double edged sword…) and almost went to bed without checking in, but thought oh, well, one never knows…So glad to see your post!

Hmmm…your particular concern about the album? Can there be something that we haven’t already gnawed to death? By all means throw us a new bone, Ron! Looks like we’ll have all the time in the world to analyze it. sigh.

Okay, now I am taking my IRS-induced headache and eyestrain to bed. Have a great week, peeps! Smile

  24. Ron says:

Hi nkd!! I had our photo printed and I’ve framed it and it’s on my wall where I can see it directly when I’m on this computer. So many happy memories of Ste.-Agathe but that moment with you is top of the list! Thank you jlurksacto for capturing it for us!

  25. cher says:

Have y’all read this article yet about the “fake” album?

  26. Teri63 says:

Whoa… This was cool to wake up to! I couldn’t sleep and ran across this new article in The Advocate: http://www.advocate.com/Print_Issue/Cover_Stories/Reinventing_Adam_Lambert/

  27. adamized says:

Yeah, love the advocate article! He looks amazingly gorgeous and seems to be even more self-aware than I had presumed. Unfortunately the article was written when they thought his album was coming out in November. Adam, please name that new baby and get that single out in early November!

Interesting what he says about the collective eye-roll. I wonder if part of his uncoolness is having a bunch of “29” year old fans. I kind of feel we are a double-edged sword. He needs us and appreciates our loyalty. OTOH we are not the coolest demographic for a pop singer. Oh well, he is stuck with us either way.

It is about time that boy is on a cover of another magazine. Couldn’t have better eye candy. Enjoy everyone!

  28. adamized says:

Oops, forgot to welcome back Ron into the thread. Where have you been???? Hopefully your hours away from the computer have produced some nice forward momentum on boarder crossing status (fingers crossed).

Kradamour, hopefully the completion of your returns will give you some peace of mind. After all you have to have lots of flailing time available over the next several months.

Hurry up and wake up folks for the exciting news!

  29. adamized says:

AL thanks for the additional tidbit about Nile Rodgers. I read the excerpt from Le Freak and want to read the rest. What an unsual life this man has lead and how amazingly grounded he seems. Hope he beats cancer and hope BB gets to meet him and do some recording (maybe for his third album)

  30. luval says:

Off to the bookstore for the magazine. Not my favorite pic but nice. Wonder how many issues he’ll sell of this one?

  31. Teri63 says:

Is Adam on the cover of the Advocate or is it just a cover article?

He’s on the cover. There are links to a pic of the cover on Twitter. I’ll try to find one to post here.

ETA: I hope this link works — Once you get to the page, scroll down a bit for a picture of the cover.

  32. Kradamour says:

Woot! BB on the cover of a magazine looking all gorgeous!
Website has a link to an interview with Tori Amos about her new song cycle. She is fascinating…both as a person and as an artist. Interview ends with her comments about marriage equality. Very eloquent.

  33. luval says:

Well, I’m out and about and it seems that my local barnes and noble hasn’t carried the magazine since 2009. It may be difficult to find.

  34. HK fan says:

Have just read that Advocate article, thought it was great.
And the photos, I mean, seriously, how hot and gorgeous can one guy be filling up his car and driving along!!!!!!!!!!!

  35. luval says:

Look at that arm pumping gas! WOW

Not to beat a dead horse but has that producer (whatever his name is) of that album given a statement in public?

  36. JOJOSIE says:

MJ’s has a link to the article and a thread started. Great picture and article. Yayyyyyyyyy….

  37. Oksana2000 says:

Luval, check your mail on fansite…

  38. Oksana2000 says:

There is always something that makes my blood boiling. Remember that dude John Moser from that was always writing negative things about Adam? Now he is promoting bastard albums.I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt (for now) that he was misinformed by sleazy producers, but I hope that after reading comments he will either remove or change the article. Or he knows about this crap and does it intentionally to hurt Adam.

Hi luval, you might try this link. I don’t have time to see if they have it, but you could give it a try if all else fails. May have to play with the link to find the right entry.

  42. Oksana2000 says:

Ceddies, I checked magazinecafe already, and they seems not to carry Advocate. However they might do an exception just for this issue.
I got Frontiers and Japanese Rolling Stone from them, you are right , good service.

  43. luval says:

ok…Aukland New Zealand. As eywflyer said Enter Sandman was played. Adam did some amazing things with his mic and tongue. Smile

I saw an article yesterday, antimusic or something also promoting the new ‘official’ pre Idol stuff, and this morning on a SaltLake blog, couldn’t see how to post a comment on either one.

  50. milwlovesadam says:

    Ron, welcome back.

I’ve been working and peeling and cooking apples. Jeepers, I am such a domestic diva! Anybody for some apple crisp? I’ve got plenty.

Love the Advocate cover and article. Love how we Adam fans seem to have the only threads over 10 pages long over at MJ’s. It cracks me up. Adam may be a tad airbrushed on his cover, but, hey, he’s looking great and sounding articulate as usual. He never lets us down in that dept!

Ron, sweetie, OACDYCSF is not my fave either, but, it is so dated and classic Babs that I will watch it if it comes across my TV. And I do actually like the title song. I also love the Jack Nicholson cameo and early career performance. He was pretty hot stuff back then, wasn’t he?

AS far as medical expenses, kradamour, I believe I posted a list of ailments a while back that Adam can cure. Maychance you could show that to your accountant to cover your medical write-offs? Teehee…
