Well, fall has arrived and it’s time for our October chat thread. This is the sixth monthly chat we’ve had on the site. Thought about using a Burning Man photo for this month, but decided to continue with the Adam getting awards theme with this photo of Adam and Leila at the 2nd annual PFLAG National LA Event.

Still hoping for a new single sometime soon, but maybe not this month. Enjoy the chat!

Not quite luval sweetie. My twitter feed was all aflutter with his tweets and Sam Sparro’s invite.

  2. Kradamour says:

Okay, why are new peeps going into studio to work with Adam? This is not “tweaking”, this is still recording the fricking album! Rolls Eyes
Delighted and all that, but at this rate it could be green of summer grass and not green of St. Pat before we get new music!!!

  3. nkd says:

Kradamour, I felt the same way last night with getting a funk guitar player and a singer tweeting. I don’t know what he’s doing or anything about the album making process. Maybe something great came up, and he just had to do it! Maybe he thinks he’s got time.
If at the time of the Idol finale he said he had recorded about 18? songs so far, I wonder how many he has now?

  4. nkd says:

Listening to the songs Adam tweeted about overnight, he’s def in a funk mood and as he said, stoned!

  5. luval says:

Exactly what I was thinking. Should be finishing album..not starting from scratch! Btw I love all of Nile Rogers stuff. Really danceable and very funky. And he’s a great producer and guitarist. He’s had a hard life since the disco days but has worked his way back.

I kind of wish Adam would stop tweeting about being stoned or anything connected to that. I worry about the voice and that he discusses doing things like that in public.

I think that most, if not all of us, agree with this. I’m wondering if Adam will wake up this morning (or afternoon – ha) sorry for this tweet.

  7. Kradamour says:

I think that most, if not all of us, agree with this. I’m wondering if Adam will wake up this morning…sorry for this tweet.

    He could delete it. Frown
I wonder how much of the delay on the CD is due to his apprehension? knowing what the expectations are?

We have at least one example of Adam NOT behaving well in that circumstance, but I won’t name the performance that shall not be named.

He wouldn’t be human if he wasn’t very apprehensive about the public’s response to album #2. Might be part of his reaching out to his most loyal fans with the tone of recent twitter parties.

  8. milwlovesadam says:

I think Adam is under a huge amount of pressure from TPTB, the music industry in general, his constant reviews as having “the best vocals out there”, having to be a gay icon/spokesperson, being a fashion icon, pressure to top his FYE sales, and is still being scrutinized after the performance that shall not be named.

And, his fan base is so very diverse. I don’t know of many celebs out there who do have such a diverse fan army. It must be brutal to try to please everybody and still be true to yourself.

He’s under a lot of pressure. And, most likely trying to please so many contingents.

And, he’ll be turning 30 as his next music comes out. That is old in his biz.

When 30 year olds are tweeting about getting stoned, it just doesn’t sit well with a lot of people. I personally don’t give two hoots how often he gets stoned. He talked about wanting a hooka den in his dream house way back in the RS cover story. He was certainly comfortable with deep drags on that blunt in Amsterdam on stage. Whatever. As long as he’s good to his body and voice overall, I truly don’t care.

Now, if he were still smoking tobacco, and drinking as much as he does, that combo is dreadful in the long haul. I see it every day at my work in the hospital. My specific profession treats people who have damaged their “throats”. I’m not trying to sound all gloom and doom, and I’m not clutching my pearls, believe me, but, I am very selfish. I want to hear his glorious voice for many many years to come. That’s all.

  9. Oksana2000 says:

Now, if he were still smoking tobacco, and drinking as much as he does, that combo is dreadful in the long haul.

Mils,as much as I know Adam is not smoking tobacco. Smoking on a daily bases is much worse than having drink. How do you know how much he drinks? The pictures of him that we see are from social occasions. I’m considered as a non-drinker, but if you would see my picture at any social gathering, restaurant, going out with friends I would have a drink in my hand.Did you see young people his age in a club, bar, restaurant etc? He looks like everyone else, so please, don’t make an assumptions about his drinking.

  10. Ellessay says:

From someone who has English as my first and last language I deeply appreciate the effort you put into your writing. I would have never guessed English was not your first language had you not shared that with us. LMAO at your last sentence.

I used to teach ESL (English as a Second Language) and worked with a Russian woman who wanted to be able to get into college. She was suprised at the high grade she got on the entrance exam. As I told her, we native speakers think we know English, so we don’t really study our own language and our usage gets careless and full of slang. Someone who studied it as hard as she did was bound to do better than a native. She loved learning idioms. She didn’t realize that they didn’t always mean what they said–like when she was telling a story to someone who responded “Get out of here!” She thought she’d offended the person. She was glad to find out it didn’t mean what she thought it did.

  11. Kradamour says:

    Thoughtful post, mils.
Extremely diverse fanbase, and even more varied from country to country.
And 30 is a little long in the tooth for some of them. (He is just a tad older than us 29 yr olds, so we are okay with it Smile )

And the more time this album takes to produce/release, the more money TPTB have invested in it.

Stress? Tension? Apprehension? It’s gotta be tough to be Adam right now. I am so glad and grateful that he has a strong support circle of family and friends, including a special someone to go home to at night and with whom to share his apprehension and excitement.

  12. cwm says:

Ahh, why so gloomy here this morning ? I was up with Adam during his listening party last night and it was a kick. I was listening to the songs he was tweeting out while watching his @ replies, and it was very entertaining. It was like we were all having a virtual party together. Very amusing, very happy, very fun.

I suspect that he and Sam Sparro got into a funky groove with whatever they were working on, Sam went over to Sia’s house for a dog party afterwards, and Adam was still in a groove and decided to have a party of his own with Sauli and his favorite funky tracks.

I’m not crazy about him tweeting that he’s stoned, but I’m not going to clutch my pearls over it either. His reputation survived Amsterdam; I figure it will survive this tweet as well. Wink I was just glad that his subsequent tweets were only music rather than blurting out who-knows-what kind of TMI! LOL Like mils said, as long as he’s good to his voice and his body overall, I’m not gonna judge.

I gotta say, though, the thought of Adam’s voice + a good funky groove just makes me all kinds of happy. So if Adam and Sam got an inspiration for how they could further funkify something they’ve already been working on, then I’m all for it! JMHO

I plan to participate in the National Novel writing month in November.

Me too! Now if we just had a new Adam single to listen to while writing. Smile

  14. Oksana2000 says:

    Whay is a dog party?

  15. dcglam says:

Maybe something great came up, and he just had to do it! Maybe he thinks he’s got time.

Yes, these are my thoughts as well. To me, it’s all good!
Adam is only making this album betterer and betterer….. Wink

  16. Oksana2000 says:

I just finished reading posts in 2 Adam polish fanclubs. They are all aware about situation with these unauthorized albums, nobody is going to buy them, they are planning on downloading one illegaly and then make copies for everyone who still wants them.
And I don’t want to repeat what they say about Monte but it’s not very complimentary.

  17. Miss Chaos says:

Maybe something great came up, and he just had to do it! Maybe he thinks he’s got time.

Ya, hes got all the time in the world, lol.

  18. ultimathule says:

The album mess seems to be sorting itself out nicely thanks to RCA and the fans.

Have the twitter replacement one now to keep us occupied for another few days. Hopefully, there’ll be a few more until the single emerges.

  19. luval says:

Mils, love and agree with your post. I see the damage to throats where I work too. And just plain drinking can do it. Smoking adds to the problem but one doesn’t have to smoke to have a problem down the line.

  20. nkd says:

Aw, come on peeps, we all know that Adam is no choir boy. Well, he was a choir boy but not a goody goody one! Wink
I think he knows to take care of the voice, it’s his moneymaker and his passion. But I know, these kinds of tweets bring out the protector side in us. Smile

  21. nkd says:

Ya, hes got all the time in the world, lol.

Yes he does. tap, tap, tap Wink

  22. Ellessay says:

Monte has certainly benefitted from playing with Adam, I think more than for Madonna. Adam introduced him BY NAME every single night all over the world, and if Monte has a following I think it came from that, not from playing with Madonna.

I agree with this–he’s been in every touring band for Madonna since 2001, but I’d never heard of him before Adam. And he was never part of the Madona studio recordings except for three songs. At least he has some name recognition now.

I can also understand Monte being proud of his previous efforts. But he’s six years older than Adam and had a chance to experiment with his music. Adam, on the other hand, spent a lot of time singing what someone else told him to, being directed as to where to stand, what movements to make, etc.

Adam needed time to define what he wanted to do as an artist on his own. His song-writing efforts with Monte, singing and recording demos with professional musicians, creating his own vision for a stage production were learning experiences of which we are now reaping the benefit. Of course, as fans, we are interested in what makes him the dynamic performer he is today.

What a shame the producer of the bastard CD’s wasn’t up front with fans with what he had. I would have wasted no time in buying my copy and would have had no illusion that it was the best of Adam–but just Adam at that stage of his life/career. The early Beatles recordings that surfaced were pretty rough and not a real indication of the great band they became. But many fans treasure these early glimpses.

I don’t think these two CDs will hurt Adam, but will whet our appetite for the real thing. They will keep his name out there when so many others are releasing albums in Nov. and when his real single hits big, people will be looking for the new album.

whoa! Thought I might knit some things for peeps from the Adam Lambert yarn..that stuff is $30 per skein!!!

For that price, he should personally deliver it! LOL. At least it should have freckles…

  24. luval says:

I have an idea what to knit with one skein. I think the guitar player in Red Hot Chili Peppers used to wear one but hid it behind his guitar. I think maybe I’d need 2 skeins for Adam. Smile

Just got home from work and my bronze peace pendant has arrived. Very small (or dainty as nkd said) It’s nice to have the bronze instead of silver. Don’t like the black rope, though and still don’t care much for the peace symbol…oh well!

  25. nkd says:

Exactly, Ellesay! Maybe slumbag will learn a life lesson. Or not.

  26. dcglam says:

Haha — saw this over at MJ’s…

    PearlClutchers The Pearl Clutchers
Good to hear that @adamlambert is greening his California house & laying (paving?) stones too. Home improvement is something we approve of.

  27. nkd says:

You know luval, that bronze would look nice on a silver chain, I think. I like the mixed metals. Smile

  28. nkd says:

dcglam, that’s a great response! lol Grin

  29. luval says:

nkd…yes, I’ll probably get a silver chain. But the weight of wearing all 3 necklaces (and I will) will be sending me to a chiropractor!

    Oksana2000 says:
    Whay is a dog party?

Oksana— Sam Sparro and Sia tweeted each other about getting together with their dogs last evening, and then later tweeted about how they and their dogs were “splayed.” That’s what Adam’s dog tweets were referring to.

  31. luval says:

So I’ve been listening to the tunes that Adam tweeted about.
    Titanium..Sia: like
    Cottonmouth: Sam Sparrow like
Maggot Brain: Funkadelic…yikes perfect for “greenery”
    Hypnotized: n.e.r.d (Pharrell) loved it
New Divide: Linkin Park: not bad..rock (have always liked this group.)
Controversy: Prince…didn’t care for it. Sounds like his other stuff

Normally I dislike any song Adam has tweeted about (lol), but I’m surprised I liked this stuff. He tweeted the other day about getting into French artists by Ed Bangor records. Didn’t care for that. Autotune and over produced IMO.

  32. JOJOSIE says:

Luval, how long did it take for you to get your bronze one? I still haven’t gotten mine yet. I guess there’s still hope. I was trying to be nice last night and thought maybe Adam’s stoned reference might have just been the lyrics of one of the songs. No? Okay probably not, but not a biggie with me anyway. Since cd not coming out till spring there’s lots of time to tweek and add. I gave up worrying long ago so you guys can do my share for me. Think possitive thoughts.

  33. luval says:

JOJOSIE… I ordered the pendant either the second to last or the last day of the campaign. (Sept. 30th)??. Got confirmation of shipping date on 10/10…that delivery would be 10/15. And it was!

  34. Kradamour says:

Hi, all…re pendant – I ordered mine at the end of the campaign also. Not here yet, my confirmation said shipping in 3-5 weeks. The fleur de lis earrings that I ordered arrived right on time. Tim seems to run a quality business. Can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m looking forward to my peace pendant…

  35. luval says:

kradamour & JOJOSIE…I really like the flip side of the pendant. “believe in you” and his autograph (squiggle). I really will wear it with that side facing out.

nkd…did you get your autographed charity water pic?

  36. luval says:

Am listening to flea88.2fm Adam Lambert hour. Pick You Up!

Boy, that hour was great. Missed the first half. The dj’s favorite song is FYE, he plays mostly live from GN or anywhere really, Starlight from Detroit, SW from St. Agathe (yes!), red pants Crazy (partial), Feelin’ Good studio version, Enter Sandman. Have to remember to listen more often. Sounds so nice knowing it’s on the radio. And yes…have to look to the future…but love everything he did in the past!

  37. nkd says:

nkd…did you get your autographed charity water pic?

No. Frown You may have yours for a year luval before I get mine, if ever.

I love my peace pendant! I love the feel of it. The baby likes it too! Even at a week old when I left her Frown , she was grasping it! She knows what she likes!

  38. riskylady says:

    Hahahah, from chunkeymonkey81,

Let’s take a brief respite from Monte-gate (AKA the fandom is eating themselves now because we are so God damn bored) and leave that shit to Twitter and other forums–where it’s currently being documented for future generations to study when the quaint old notion of “fandom” is brought up by their decaying elders…..

  39. milwlovesadam says:

“””I have an idea what to knit with one skein. I think the guitar player in Red Hot Chili Peppers used to wear one but hid it behind his guitar. I think maybe I’d need 2 skeins for Adam. “”

oh my dear luval!!! Love this!! LOLOLOL

That would be worth 60 bucks fer sure!! But, the mental image is priceless!!!

  40. milwlovesadam says:

    Adam story for today:

I’m driving home from the apple orchard with waaayyy too many apples, will have cooking to do later, thinking of applesauce, apple crisp, etc. Listening to my Tony Bennet Duets CD, grooving on the Gaga and Winehouse songs especially..

And then I see it. BAM. It hits my eyes. Unfreaking-believable. A whole billboard. It’s the Eye of Horus. Bang Boom! Adam’s in my head again!

Only,it’s not about Adam. Our museum has a really cool Cleopatra exhibit opening up. I’ll be going soon. Hmmm. Maybe just maybe they’ll have some cool stuff I could buy and pretend that I just like Cleo. Yea, that’s the ticket, Cleo..that’ll be my cover. Just like my Fossil key charm is because I like keys…

  41. milwlovesadam says:

One more, post ho for sure, I’ve been listening to Adam’s songs he tweeted last night, especially like the Pharrell one. I can only imagine what he’s putting together with Adam. And Sia. And Sam Sparro. This CD is going to be incredible.

    Tap Tap Tap…

  42. luval says:

    Ho Ho Ho…me too..

mils, you would love this key that I have. About 10yrs ago I was in this abandoned house (with my brother who is in real estate, when I looked in a closet and there was a key on the floor. It is a 4″ brass key that looks like Adam’s tattoo but the end of it is solid rather than carved holes.

Attached to the key is a leather tag that says “Wis. & Mich. S.S. Co. Milwaukee, Wis. S.S. Missouri.

I wear it occasionally on a heavy chain and get so many compliments. It looks like a key to a treasure chest.

eta…you read my post about the Pharrell song…loved it!

  43. Ellessay says:

My Adam story of the day–was listening to Adele last night as I was going to sleep, which must have reminded me of Adam and the discussion of how he will emphasize his vocals on the new album. Of course, I had an Adam dream. He came out on stage with the funniest hairstyle my imagination could come up with–kind of like a Japanese geisha with two long sausage curls down his back. He made a joke about how important his hair seemed to be to the fans, then opened his mouth to sing. It was soooo beautiful that no one cared about how funny he looked. Wish I could remember the song.

  44. Kradamour says:

Ellessay, the human mind is an amazing thing, and I do think that it creates links with the larger universe. I think it entirely possible that you heard a preview of the new music in your dream.
Even if you didn’t, it would be cool to believe that you did! Smile

  45. milwlovesadam says:

Mmmmmm. Does anybody want some homemade applesauce?

  46. ultimathule says:

Watched Pharrell vid – nice – rather watch Adam emerge from a shower into a room of beautiful boys.

  47. riskylady says:

I did the same thing you all did, just finished listening to Adam’s songs. I liked them all, although Linkin Park seemed a little jarring in with all the funk. I’m a huge Prince fan, have seen him 3 times in concert starting back in 1987 -like Adam, he’s a phenomenal performer, but I have to say, doesn’t have quite the engagement with the audience, the magnetism that Adam has. But his music is so sweeeet.
Loved the Maggot Brain piece – very atmospheric. Adam definitely had his groove on last night.
I do hope he got together with Nile Rodgers – would love for him to play some great funk on one of the album tracks. The current EW mag has a nice piece on Rodgers.

  48. dcglam says:

Getting Happy Birthday sang to you in Finnish is pretty rad… God damn I have some awesome friends!

  50. nkd says:

I listened again to the tracks that Adam tweeted last night. I have to say I can feel the vibe in all of them. That Maggot Brain by Funkadelic was awesome guitar. That was recorded in one take! If Adam and Sam are looking for that kind of guitar sound from Niles Rodgers, that could be wild.
I’m just imagining Adam onstage dancing around to these funky beats, I’ll be a goner!
And the n.e.r.d. song! If what he worked with Pharrell on, is just somewhat as seductive as that, boys and girlies will be throwing themselves on that stage with him! Better line up security! Oh my!
And then throw in songs like Outlaws of Love…I’m getting so excited for all of this new music and anticipating the tour! Y’all may have to hold me back! Smile
