Just want to publicly thank TLKC for the wonderful birthday (not mine)/glambert/Live Ball watching party yesterday in Toronto. So nice to see TLKC, Milkywayfairy, NorthernSpirit, and a few others…not sure of their posting name but they are mostly lurkers. We had such a fun time eating, drinking, shouting & screaming at the livestream!! What a performance!!
And of course wonderful to see my good friend Ron. We could spend even more hours talking & laughing than we already did. BTW his closet is amazing! Saw things that Adam would be jealous of!
So nice to get together with the wonderful people I’ve met here via mj’s. And hope to meet many more in the months to come. If Adam ever tours again, the Trespassing bus (or whatever it’s going to be called then), is ready to roll here in the northeast. Can’t wait!!!
I always seem to have a “situation” at the Canadian border. Heading back to the U.S. they ask “what was the reason you were away”. I said to attend an Adam Lambert party and visit friends. There were 2 custom officials there. He had a puzzling look on his face and said “Adam Lambert??” I pointed to the Light & Love sign on my car and held up the Adam cookie. He looked at it and said “his hair looks like a girl”. I was very angry at that but knew you cannot mess with these guards. I just said “I am not going to comment on that”. There was a moment of awkward silence.
So I lightened up and said “remember from American Idol?” He said “did he win?” I said “no” but that I’ve been following him for 4 years along with thousands of other people around the world. That I plan to see him in 2 weeks in Pittsburgh and 2 weeks later in San Diego. I could see his eyes rolling under his sun glasses as he said “go ahead on through”. Probably didn’t want to hear me continue blabbing about Adam.

Mils, I was going to post about Sauli attending Leila’s party but decided shopping was more important (and fun). I’ve always thought she was very fond of him. Sauli fans on another site have mentioned that Adam seems to be photographed with guys while Sauli is usually pictured with girls. Sauli also has added to his neck tattoo a larger colorful butterfly. Not a fan of inking but his are whimsical and colorful. I wince every time Adam talks about more tats.

mils all I want to say about Behind the Candelabra is that Boston boy Matt Damon should win a best actor Emmy for his performance. He was amazing.
luval, I think they will both win something. I actually think that Damon took the bigger “risk” as a an actor, because he was a more “real” person. Whereas Michael Douglas had such a huge “character” who was nearly always in costume, that he got lost in the role, you forgot it was Michael Douglas, you believed him as Liberace so much, but, Matt Damon was still Matt Damon-ish.

Every article I’ve read about this talks about the risk Michael Douglas took. I think he was outstanding, but so was Matt Damon. In fact, the settings, costumes, all of it should win awards.
I felt saddened at the end. It was like the end of those Freddie Mercury shows. But Liberace was much more lonely. Sad.
Did you see the “making of” special too? That was great. They used Ava Gabor’s house.
I really like how they showed a real long-term gay relationship as a “real” relationship, warts, fights and all. It made you forget that they were two men. I thought it was very humanizing and revealing. Maybe a first of it’s kind for TV. Maybe not. But it was done so well. IMHO.
Off to a BBQ in the cold and rain. UGH. This weather is like a joke from Mother Nature as payback for the heat of last year.
Pity the BBQ guys. Us ladies will be warm and cozy indoors while they cook outside.

I don’t mean to get all technical on you!
Especially as you’re now sitting outside in the cold rain eating a wet hot dog and soggy potato chips but it was Eva Gabor.
Her name was pronounced Ava but it was spelled Eva.
She passed away in 1995 so it wasn’t her house that was used in “Behind The Candelabra”. Instead it was big sister Zsa Zsa’s.
There were two back-to-back showings of the movie here on HBO at 9pm and 11pm and I watched it both times. I also managed to catch the short documentary – the making of.
The first time, I watched the movie. The second time, I studied the performances.
Debbie Reynolds was unrecognizable and absolutely brilliant, in her brief role as Liberace’s mother, as were Douglas and Damon. Everyone did a great job.
If I’m left with only one word to describe it though, the first thing that comes to mind and what stays with me is: “sad”.
Much, much sadder though is the fact that every single major U.S. studio turned this movie down because, as Academy Award winning director Steven Sodenbergh was told again and again, “it’s too gay”.
When I read this I immediately thought, “Has Hollywood completely forgotten about “Brokeback Mountain” and the multiple Oscars, Golden Globes, Screen Actor’s Guild, and BAFTA (British Academy awards) trophies that it won?!”
Is 2005 really all that long ago?
It’s going to be released to U.K. movie houses next month but there are no plans to show “Behind The Candalabra” in U.S. movie theatres.
IF it is released in the U.S. I predict it will be censored.
I know a lot of progress has been made and continues to be made and will be made.
But then something like this occurs and I feel like, I don’t know … I guess a wet hot dog.

I’m sticking to my totally unfounded theory that they are still romantically connected but do not want to be considered a couple. Since my relationship with Adam is totally fictional I get to make up whatever makes me feel good.
