Adam’s skin looks so much better now – was reading in the New York Times about the fraxel laser and how it’s good for acne scars – other things, too. New improvements in that area all the time.
I’m so happy for him – I think he was very self-conscious about his skin for a long time. Maybe that’s why he looks so comfortable in his own skin!

I have been following the news about gay marriage in France…it goes into effect in just over a week, and LOTS of mayors have said that they will not perform the ceremony as a matter of conscious. In France, if you are not married in town hall, you are not married, even if you are married in church (many people marry twice, one civil and one religious marriage, but the civil marriage is the one that matters in the eyes of the state.)
It is quite the issue…what do you do with the mayors? The potential consequence is a fine of up to 75 thousand euros and 5 years in jail for refusing to perform their duty, but I don’t think anyone really sees that happening. Interestingly, the people interviewed by the reporter in several of the cities were astounded that their mayors would fail to implement a law…even though one of them was dead set against it, her take on it was that the law is the law and he just needs to get with the program, it is his job and no one cares what his personal opinion is.
So we’ll see what happens next week.
BEWARE nkd, nothing personal here, but my computer just received an email from you on both my email addresses, and it was identified by my virus checker to be a trojan horse. It was from you with copies to most of the others on here that usually communicate with each other via email. I opened it because it looked legit. Had an attachment about a home for sale near Toronto. I did not open the attachment, though. So, nkd, you may have been hacked. Others beware!!!!!

I’m so sorry for this and that I couldn’t get to it earlier. I was at an appointment when I started getting text from people but couldn’t get to my contacts list.

I had been to the dentist this morning and was still a bit loopy when I posted that. Guess I kept myself from the corner by not accidentally calling it “Trojan Condom”. Sorry for the Non-Adam related post, but a couple of things inspired me to post.
On the email, the best prevention (and correction) of email address being used to send out emails not really from you is to frequently change your email password and to make that password more complex (a capital letter, a number, a symbol, 8 characters or more long, etc). Good to do frequently anyway. I was the Treasurer of a 400 player soccer club so every family had my email address in their contacts, so I received a lot of those kind of emails and just standard replied to them “your email has been hacked, check your sent mail to verify, change your password”.
Miss Chaos, I am also so sorry to hear about your condition – so difficult to imagine living with, particularly the ear pain keeping you from sleeping. I would like to re-emphasize Mils‘s recommendation about the therapy, particularly in combo with acupuncture. My chiropractor is also a skilled acupuncturist and her nephew is a dentist, so they have worked closely together to work out a very effective TMJ (jaw joint) therapy that has eliminated the TMJ pain and headaches without having to go through the major jaw surgery fix. Acupuncture is otherwise well known for reducing pain (along with reducing inflammation), so it make sense to me that maybe acupuncture could help you with the ear pain aspect of your condition.
Miss Chaos, I also wanted to comment about your medical condition. I know of several folks who have had Bell’s Palsy, but I don’t recall that theirs involved the level of pain that yours does. They all recovered within a couple of months. So, here’s hoping that you can find some relief and will soon be all mended!!!!

Miss Chaos, please consider seeing a neurologist. You could be having a facial nerve inflammation,called Trigeminal Neuropathy or Neuritis, sometimes Bell’s Palsy is “over-diagnosed” because it is the easy “go-to” diagnosis. Especially in the ER. Generally, docs in the ER are not specialists in facial nerves!!
The pain you are describing is what leads me to think this.
