After we were showered with Adam goodies in April, let’s see what flowers in May. With recent tweets about new music and GLAAD honoring Adam with the Davidson/Valentini Award, May seems as if it will be a very merry month indeed. And we can’t forget the Life Ball in Vienna later in the month! Let’s hope for more great pics like we had from the CMAs (China not country music), Live Proud PSA and Miami Beach Pride.

after listening 20 times: this performance was exquisite. I can’t get enough of it.

  2. ultimathule says:

It seems that Adam is being singled out and praised – that comforts me after what appeared to be slight neglect after the performance. The tweets and articles have been wonderfully positive, too. (Liked the interview, as well.) Yes, glass at least 3/4 full.

  3. ultimathule says:

Ah, see I’m not the only one, turquoisewaters; it’s so subtle in some of its harmonies it takes repeated listenings and then – GGG

  4. rs says:

This is from Michael Slezack’s review of the show. I like the way he describes it

    * If that wasn’t enough for you, how about Angie, at the piano, lilting along to “Titanium,” and then the camera pans and there’s ADAM LAMBERT!? I loved the aching restraint the duo showed as they slowed David Guetta and Sia’s high-octane dance hit into an inspirational ballad. Adam, who we know from “Slow Ride” (take it EEE-ZAY!) is a generous duet partner, really allowed Angie to set the tone and grab more than her share of the juicy parts of “Titanium” — as it should be considering this is Angie’s season, y’know? (I did love when both of ‘em unleashed in the final moments, though…good stuff.)

    * Adam proved just as gracious when he stepped aside so Angie could share the stage with her idol Jessie J.,

rs, turquoisewaters, aely, kiwi – I agree with y’all 100%.

Has this lovely little gem been posted? Adam and Angie with their moms at the after party:

  7. Kiwi says:

Thank you cwm, on the whole I think most people seem to be very positive. I was blown away. I don’t think I’ve heard Adam sound better. I love that he is comfortable letting that rougher edge to his voice show through.
I’ve got fingers crossed for a couple on duets on his album (or someone else’s)

  8. rs says:

haha. cwm, you beat me to the Mommy pic. It is so cute.

  9. rs says:

That hug reminds me of the hug with Allison at the end of Slow Ride. He is such a fabulous and generous duet partner that they can’t help but just jump into his arms when the shared experience is over.

  10. rs says:

And did you notice that in the video, when Adam comes back out after the duet with JJ, Angie hugs Adam again? I think that she felt a closeness and attachment to Adam as someone who has been through the same thing and understands her, while she is just a teenager in awe of JJ. In the future she might have contact with Adam, but except for that invite to England, I doubt that JJ will have anything to do with her.

  11. Kiwi says:

Yes rs, and the fact that they were together at the afterparty (with Mums)would back that up.I’m watching it on TV now..looking forward to seeing a little more than the clip on youtube shows. I’m recording it on my DVD recorder so I can join the 10X plus club.

Doesn’t look to me like he feels like the odd man out! Smile

  13. renataademelo says:

I think the duet was simply fantastic. Angie and Adam sang with so much soul. I don´t feel bad for Adam at all. And I don´t really care that Idol didn´t mention his full name. For those who know who he is, Angie saying Adam at the end of the song is enough. He needs no introduction. And for those who don’t know who he is and were blown away by his performance will do what I did.
I didn´t watch Adam´s season of Idol. I was watching tv at home, going through channels when I suddenly saw a sexy guy with an odd costume singing with Kiss. He caught my eye and then I went looking for him.
For those who missed me! Thank you! Hi, Ron! Hi riskylady! I never left! I am always here, lurking. I just don´t have the time to post. When I have a little break I prefer to go through the thread to read what you guys are saying than to take my time writing. My live has been crazy this past year.
    Love you all!

  14. rs says:

HI renata Waving I remember you from MJs. Of course I was mostly a lurker back then, I am much more active on this smaller and friendlier blog.

  15. Soccermom says:

Ron, you might want to go read your post to Kiwi again? She was simply posting her opinion, with maybe a touch of lecturing to the rest of us that we were expressing angst needlessly, but many of us have talked the others off the ledge before! I guess I found your post much more negative and lecturing regardless of the emoticons, so this mostly lurker needed to speak up. not that Kiwi needs any defending, she speaks for herself very well. Of course, now I am lecturing you! We would both be deleted/banned “over there”.

  16. Soccermom says:

I don’t agree with that NY Times article about Candice and Jhud. I kept wishing they would only trade off singing or Jhud would be quieter because Jhud was screeching and straining while Candice was like velvet and I wanted to hear just her. Adam needs to give Jhud some duet generosity lessons, not to mention harmonizing and blending voices.

  17. turquoisewaters says:

Shoutout to renata! So nice to her from you.

  18. rs says:

Really lovely Popstar article about Adam and Angie’s duet
Every word is perfect. I could quote the whole thing, but here is a taste

The duet brought us back to a time when artists did not necessarily feel compelled to step all over one another, competing for the best stage position, camera angles, and power notes amidst a host of gratuitous dancers. It’s what an authentic duet is supposed to look (and sound) like. ..Finally, props to Lambert for showing us that being a gentleman has never gone out.

Adam Lambert Won The “American Idol” Finale, Yet Again: WATCH

Our boy Adam flaunted that ability to flawlessly cover songs last night on the season 12 finale of Idol, performing David Guetta and Sia’s “Titanium” so well, with some help from contestant Angie Miller, that we can’t even tell you who was eventually crowned the winner of this season.

  21. riskylady says:

Every YouTube I’ve clicked on of the duet has been taken down now, leaving only the official Idol one.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeTKWnLmwTg
All the little nuances Adam packed into this duet, the way he held the end note of the first “ricochet,” the little embroidery on “dooowwnn,” the pause before “up” – all in the first verse! The tiny half smile when he heard the audience reaction to him. Starting with his back to the audience, in the shadow and only recognizable by his voice at first…..and the way he drops the note down on “titanium” just before Angie stands, the little break in his voice on “but I won’t fall” and then the final line, going up for emphasis. Short, but oh so perfect and memorable that everyone is talking about it and relistening!
    A MASTER at work.

  22. HK fan says:

I love that Popstar article rs, it says everything that I think we have all been trying to say. No one here was disappointed with Adam, more upset for him after the duet.
I just wish he had got the full song like the others did.

I thought JHud sounded awful, so screechy by the end.

Janelle was the 2nd best of the night, her (full) song with The Band Perry was really great. She was my favourite girl of the season, and the one I could see having a good career, Angie was my 2nd favourite.

    Mariahs bit was pretty bad.

    Didn’t watch the whole thing.

  23. HK fan says:

    The Best

Hands down, the absolute best vocal collaboration of the evening was that of Angie Miller and Adam Lambert performing, “Titanium.” Their chemistry during their performance, both vocal and just general chemistry was the highlight of the evening. For that brief minute or so it seemed as though Idol had found its way out of the pomp and circumstance of superstar performances and just delivered viewers pure, raw, relevant talent. Kudos to both Angie and Adam for their incredible vocals.

Sorry all you disappointed fans, but I don’t agree with you in the slightest. I have downloaded and listened to the audio several times. That duet was amazing. I don’t feel Adam held back at all. He really let rip at the end. As to the promotion, I feel that was done in his “package” the week before. Perhaps the biggest problem is that for days prior you were all building this performance up so much that it couldn’t miss being a let down. I don’t mean to upset anyone, but do try to keep things in perspective and enjoy what we get. I loved it!

I agree with you 100% Kiwi. Thanks for the perspective. I believe that because we are so invested in his success, we sometimes lose sight of ourselves, and we forget that Adam is alive and well in “glambert-land”, but not for the average joe on the street. And yes, that’s surely why many feel short-changed with the lack of focus on Adam. But it was Angie’s moment, and I think him not over-powering her was the absolute right way to play it. Had he not, you can bet the media would have nailed him to a cross for being selfish. Also, one thing I think is being overlooked: Adam does not have anything to plug at the moment, and Jessie J does.

I truly hope I’ve not offended any of you, and believe me there are times I feel I would do anything to help Adam be successful, but he is a smart and talented man. I’m certain he’s doing all he can, and on a schedule that he feels is right for him, so I’m thankful that he was even asked to perform.

  26. rs says:

Did you all notice also that the camera was focused exclusively on Adam and Angie the whole time with only one very short distance shot from farther back? The camera work on most of the other performance included many, many more distance shots with the whole audience as well as shots that showed the judge’s reactions during the songs. The close-up camera work on Adam and Angie’s duet made it more intimate and mesmerizing. I think that the director of the show was drawn is as well as everyone else.

  27. ultimathule says:

Yes, riskylady – “A MASTER at work.”

So happy that these articles recognize the brilliance of his vocals – so rare that one sees a performance of this subtlety at such a huge event.

  28. JOJOSIE says:

While most of the posters were agonizing over what Adam was going to sing, I felt this a was a waste of time for me, so I was over reading some of the post from the beginning of this blog. It made me wonder where some of the folks went, and appreciate the one that are still here. Renata , it was good to see your avi appear. You were one of the mods early on if my memory is right. About Adam last night, I agree with Kiwi and some of the positive peeps here. Sure there were several things that could have been done better, but it’s live TV and it was the American Idol finale not the Adam Lambert show. He was himself, handsome, thoughtful, gracious and a fabulous vocalist. This Adam will warm America up hopefully. Jennifer Hudson is another story. She lost me when she was on Idol with her attitude. She wasn’t very warm and likeable and to me it hasn’t changed. Now I need to go and watch “the duet” again (and again} Wink

  29. Kradamour says:

this is lain‘s comment on the Home Planet, and she said what I woulda said so I’ll let her say it here, too:

well, now that I’m done w all the shit things I firstly found while watching the vid, I can truly say that the performance was perfect.
well A was generously let Angie to sing her heart out, cuz it’s her show obviously, but still managed to hit the signature high notes.
still think at the late note, A stopped singing just to end the song together
(so kind and thoughtful of you mr.Lambert)

  30. firstimerob says:

Thank-you so much for all the links and opinions which mirror most of my own. Angie Adam duet was superb I am sure Adam had his hand in coaching and arranging it was so much all him. I hated Jhud duet had to mute which I usually do when she sings to me her voice is like nails on a blackboard, to bad because I really like Candice.
Back to another listen what a performance.

Also helps increase the viewer count, which is important and something Shoshanna was encouraging.

Did this article get posted? From msn.com:
    http://social.entertainment.msn.com/tv/blogs/blog–american-idol-final-results-its-candice?toc=tv

But just as on regular performance episodes of “Idol,” when wretched excess can lead into unexpected brilliance, musical events took a significant turn for the better. Angie Miller launched into a grave version of Sia’s “Titanium” and was quickly joined by Adam Lambert for a duet that at times approached the exquisite.

    And from Broadway World:
