WHAT? Adam dissed? I did not see that at all. He got a full package last week and he was asked to preform on the biggest week of Idol without having something to plug. He looked very happy to me. Tons of great tweets and press. Looked fab and sounded amazing. Have to agree with kiwi Don’t get the negative at all.

I so admire people who are generous of spirit and compassionate towards others.
I will “do” try to do that in the future and to do that real hard.
I agree with Kiwi and aely in that the duet was absolutely achingly beautiful, and both sounded great. Already downloaded the MP3, and the video is getting tons of views. And, Adam did get his licks in in the last couple of lines where they belonged, really – he let the song be the song. .
And I’ll bet anything that it was HIS idea to slow it down like that. Sia writes such beautiful ballads, and this is no exception.
The reason I said he was robbed was, I thought that at the end of the slow ballady part, they would make it a complete number and launch into the Guetta version, at least as long as JHud’s number with Candace.
Instead, they left it short so JJ could do her schtick. Opportunist! She hasn’t had great success here, and I bet she was licking her chops at this exposure which came to her completely gratuitously. I don’t think she gives a shit about Angie, she’ll let her do the thing in the UK and then toss her.
I was VERY happy to see the spontaneous standing ovation from the crowd, the screams when Adam began singing and the huge applause at the end. THEY knew who he was.
I predict this song will end up being the standout moment and get more notice than any other of the night.

Jeez Ron, where did you get that the position of my nose is “snooty”? Surely we are all entitled to an opinion. I hold to my view, that I should enjoy what is mine to enjoy and not always wish for the unattainable. I’m a “glass half full” person. So I woke up at some ungodly hour and looked at my ipad to see
who wonwhat Adam sang and what you all had to say about it. I watched the vid of both of Angie’s performances and I can tell where you are all coming from, but I have my early morning musings, too. Forgive me if I sound incoherent at times. First of all, the duet was exquisite. As everyone has said, and we all knew, Adam is a wonderful and generous duet partner, but what was so great here was that their voices could blend and harmonize so beautifully. That doesn’t work with everybody and often they just have to “take turns” singing. The camera was focused on them the whole time, and at the end, the judge who gave them a standing O was Mariah. She is the best singer from the bunch and she is the one to really appreciate what they did. The duet with JesseJ was a whole different thing. It was a high energy pop performance that was fun and young and current but didn’t require any, or much, communication between the two. The camera focused a lot on the audience and judges reactions.Now, as far as the other stuff, it was supposed to be all about Angie, and Adam made it so. I really think that he was pleased for her. He knows where she has been and he remembers what it was like being on the Idol stage with his own Idols in the finale. I think that she was mesmerized by he duet with him and totally into it. But she couldn’t help but go all fangirly over JesseJ. She is a teenager with a crush. It is true that Adam wasn’t introduced, but isn’t that what they do with all the really famous people that they assume need no introduction?
And he did get that great package last week.
So, for me was it too short? YES!!! I would rather see Adam doing his thing for the whole show and dueting with everybody, well not everybody, but you know what I mean. Do I think that some part of him felt that he was pushed aside when Jesse J got all the attention? Maybe, but just a little part of him. He was too busy feeling happy for Angie’s moment. Do I think that the majority of viewers will see the negative? No way! They will be reminded what a f**king fabulous singer and gorgeous man Adam lambert is. And that is all good. The press is already raving.
Enough musings, I need to make my breakfast
ETA. I looked again. Mariah did NOT stand up for Adam, but she was the only judge that they showed clapping for him. WTF?

I do think Adam got ripped off by Ryan during the Jesse J bit ( and I tweeted him to tell him so!), but clearly the rest of the world was really happy with the performance. LEt’s hope it pays off!

Ok, I watched!
That was soooooo beautiful. The slow simple arrangement, Adam’s exquisite vocals, the way they shared the stage and communicated with each other, the way Adam totally tunes in to his duet partner, the way he let it rip at the end, the way he looked so beautiful throughout. Just gorgeous. A total win for Adam on that performance.
I understand what you guys are saying about how it seemed that Adam got short shrift after the performance. I too would have loved for Adam to get better recognition and more attention after the performance. And Ryan did make a big deal about JJ’s offer. But for me, there are way too many positives about this for me to be unhappy about those few moments at the end when the focus was on JJ and Angie.
– Adam got a great pimp package last week.
– He was asked to sing on the finale. One of only a few alumni (only two non-winners and a couple of winners) to ever do so.
– He had a remarkable performance that is getting rave reviews.
– He got to perform in front of more than 10 million people and nailed it.
– Adam and Angie had an obvious, genuine connection during the song and a warm hug afterwards.
– The Nokia audience loved it, the TV audience loved it.
– He’s getting press interviews and renewed interest and renewed excitement about his voice and his music.
Adam understands first hand what a big deal it is to sing on the finale. In my view, having been asked to sing on the finale IS being considered one of the cool kids. And he also knows first hand what it’s like to meet and sing with your personal idol. Allowing Angie to have a moment with JJ doesn’t make him look like less of a cool kid, IMO. It makes him look gracious. And he was brought into the circle in the end with a group hug. Sorry, I don’t agree that this was personally painful for Adam. I think he sees it for the opportunity for great exposure that it was. Glass (way more than) half full for me.
It was so beautiful, I wanted the song to be longer. Here’s my theory about why it was shortened. Angie was not in the top 2, but when the duet with JJ came through, Idol suddenly had a situation where the 3rd place finisher got two duets whereas the top 2 only got 1 duet each. Awkward! So they couldn’t have both of Angie’s songs be full-length songs, or they would have gotten criticized for being unfair to Candice and Kree (I think they got criticized anyway). So they had to shorten her total time so as not to so obviously overshadow Candice and Kree in the duet opportunities.
Oh and
I’m thinking that he’s feeling ok about how it went. Sometimes I think we worry too much.

I’m talking instead about the way that we express ourselves when we make those opinions and the way that they will be perceived by others.

I’m on team glass 3/4 full. Much better sounding fantastic for 2 1/2 minutes than mediocre for 4 minutes. Yeah, Ryan could have pulled Adam more in, but if I compare to the other acts that night, Adam’s stood out as the most beautiful and meaningful. Mariah was embarrassing, JLo useless, Psy stupid, Keith country-light, TheBandPerry not my thing, JessieJ fun and energetic, but left me cold, Jennifer Hudson powerful but also painful, Emeli Sande can do much better by herself.

Right after the show, my Miami Fox channel’s reporter in LA was reporting on it and the first thing they reported was the avalanche of tweets about Mariah lip-syncing and how obvious it was. Then, the did mention Adam when interviewing Angie, called him Idol’s glam-boy lol.
