After we were showered with Adam goodies in April, let’s see what flowers in May. With recent tweets about new music and GLAAD honoring Adam with the Davidson/Valentini Award, May seems as if it will be a very merry month indeed. And we can’t forget the Life Ball in Vienna later in the month! Let’s hope for more great pics like we had from the CMAs (China not country music), Live Proud PSA and Miami Beach Pride.

I guess I just didn’t like how Adam was standing there watching Angie and JessieJ fangirl while he looked on like a lame duck.

He wasn’t introduced and he was barely acknowledged by either Angie or Ryan.

Now, if he and Jessie had stood side by side, it may have felt different.

It broke my heart to see Adam on that stage looking for all the world like the kid the cool kids ignored.

You just made me cry Kradamour because this is what I’ve felt personally and what I saw happening to Adam behind his gentleman’s smile.

He may as well have been back drop scenery. Frown

  5. cher says:

Adam is a gentleman. He didn’t try to outsing Angie. After all, it is about her tonight. His voice and Angie’s blended well, he looked great, he got exposure and the audience went crazy when he started singing with Angie. Afterwards, they got a standing ovation, so it’s all good. Never enough for us Glamberts, but it’s better than nothing. At least he got to perform something even though it was a mediocre song. Happy to see him!! He’s a pretty boy for sure!! Grin Laugh Laugh

Whataya think?…Has Elvis left the building?

  7. ultimathule says:

“Glad he didn’t bother changing his clothes for that.”

Should have come out with a bag over his head.

Last time I’m ever watching Idol – that’s it.

  8. Ceddies says:

Well, there was that glimpse of the three of them hugged up at the end of the scene. IIRC, Angie reached over and hugged Adam. It was sad, though, that he seemed so overshadowed. Adam has mentioned at some time earlier (maybe on twitter) that he liked JessieJ, so maybe he didn’t mind as much as we minded for him. IDK.

    This bothered me too.

Thanks for the details, guys, I was genuinely confused by the various reactions. I’m sorry to hear about how it seemed to play out at the end.

Well, I haven’t seen it yet but imma focus on the positive. Adam on TV, sounding exquisite and looking gorgeous. And twitter is going crazy about how great he sounded – and not just fans either, but non-fans too.

Hard as it is for us Adam stans, we gotta remember that this performance was set up to be a special moment for Angie, not for Adam.

  12. Kradamour says:

It will be interesting to see what the entertainment press has to say about Adam’s overshadowed appearance. He would be totally justified in never performing on Idol again without first establishing ground rules based on this evening’s debacle.
Right, I pulled a Kradamour. Can’t contain myself. Need to share pain with my peeps.
    Deep breath.
    Now I’m done.
    G’nite, dearest peeps.

Yes, we do have to remember the casual Idol fan, like mils said, I think…will finally see & hear him after wondering where he’s been.

    Totally understand that and agree.
But Adam was not #2. He was #3, after Angie and Jessie.
And excluded from their little lovefest while he stood politely by and looked on.
Unless you knew who he was, you wouldn’t have learned tonight. One quick mention of his name. No introduction. No mention of ANYTHING AT ALL.
Idol pimped Adam to get his stans to watch, and they used us for the viewer count. And used Adam to get us.
We can look at this as positively as we want, but this was not a good night for Adam personally.
Will he move a few CDs? Hope so. Hope someone caught his name during the two second mention.

Okay I really gotta move on.
May the entertainment press CRUCIFY Idol for this.
    Really Pissed

  16. ultimathule says:

Thanks, luval, for that great vid, and cwm for a dose of reality. Feel better now – love you both.

  17. luval says:

I missed fierce Adam. If only peeps could see him in person.

  18. Kradamour says:

krads…what on earth is dog sauce????

Ha! Sauce chien, no idea how it got that name…it’s the ubiquitous condiment in the French Antilles. Cilantro, shallots, onions, chives, garlic, hot pepper, thyme, parsley, lime juice, oil, salt and pepper. Wonderful on seafood and chicken.
Gonna go into the kitchen and beat the hell out of the ingredients to make a paste, it’ll do me good. Then you add a little water to thin it to pouring consistency.
    Yum.
Feeling a little better. Talking about and thinking about food is always therapeutic.
    Merci.

I think it was set up to profile JJ and that she insisted on it. Read something a couple of days ago about her being a self entitled diva in rehearsals, making it all about her, but I can’t remember where

Wow– Jennifer Hudson and Adam Lambert have such amazing voices, they both reminded us of that tonight. Two of the best voices that have come out of the show, that’s for sure. So powerful.

Adam got treated like a nobody after the song. Lame.

    HappyDaisy_2 • an hour ago

Idol often treats its own poorly. Adam’s duet was incredible. The man is super talented. Why was Adam made to stand there like that at the end with almost zero acknowledgment? Jessie J? Go away.

Bill Mitchell • an hour ago

Lol, he says “What did you think when you found out you were singing with Jesse J” and he doesn’t say anything about Adam. Adam had this look on his face like, “What am I, chopped liver?”

If AI had wanted a good finale, they would have had Adam Lambert duet with everyone.

  30. Kiwi says:

Well, I just watched “the duet” on youtube. Not sure what everyone else saw but I thought it was beautiful! I love sweet sounding Adam as well as the over-the-top entertainer. He was def. in duet mode but it was gorgeous. And he did have some big moments towards the end of his song. His name was mentioned at the finish, which is normal for the idol finale. The guests are meant to be a bit of a surprise.I also feel that although Adam is the centre of our universe, he is somewhat down the list to most. Great job Adam. Looking forward to the TV screening in NZ in a few hours!

    Hi jlurksacto Hug Right

There is nothing negative about that but it was the presentation – or rather, the non-REpresentation – of Adam tonight whereby he came across as a second class citizen that, I don’t mean to be crude, but it SUCKED!

No introduction, no mention of his album, no nothing, while Angie and JessieJ gushed over each other and Adam just politely stood there.

    “International Super Star” indeed. Neutral

  33. ultimathule says:

That mp3 MediaFire is worth downloading – can hear his beautiful voice so clearly.

  34. adamized says:

Hi Ceddies! long time no see.

I ended up watching AI on Tv and following reactions on twitter. Pretty much a mixture of the same reactions here. Somewhere between our boy is getting royally screwed to OMG can’t we all stop wanking and appreciate the performance.

It helped me see the broad range of reactions as my heart broke a little thinking that Adam may have been made to feel uncomfortable and as Krad said like an “outsider”. He has always said how much he loves Jessie J and she didn’t even acknowledge him. OTOH, it was Angie’s night and it isn’t always all about Adam.

He will get good press from this and hopefully a bump in sales and hopefully lots more good things coming. We are all so protective of Adam that it is hard to see things in perspective.

I’m just hoping he wasn’t hurt and that he and Jessie J did meet eachother after the show and she was especially nice to him. There seems to be lots of good press re how wonderful the duet was and how generous a duet partner Adam is. I’m glad Adam didn’t pull a Jennifer Hudson. No one needs to do that IMO.

  35. Calgary says:

So can we tweet our wrath to Idol? If nothing else, the way Ryan treated Adam was classless. Maybe I’ll share my thoughts with Ryan himself. Grin Grin Grin

    Michael Slezak ‏@MichaelSlezakTV
Yep, @adamlambert remains one of the most generous duet partners ever. That was LOVELY, @AngieAI12! #idol

And just for some different perspectives, some stans seem pretty happy with how it came off:

    @chunkeymonkey81
Srsly best night ever. Studio. Embryonic. Titanium slayage. RYDAM. I can’t deal lol gotta sleep get real now lol

    Krissy ‏@slightly_askew
Srsly tho, when you see how many former idols are there, and only two got asked to actually perform, that’s pretty cool.

  37. ultimathule says:

Both Newsday and Neonlimelight highlighted the duet as being beautiful. Think when people read these articles, and rewatch the show, the performance will have more of an impact than we now think.

Don’t see them going out of their way to praise JJ – can’t see her ever making it here. Something tacky about her.

  38. ultimathule says:

Angie, as her career progresses (if it does), may realize how lucky she was to sing with him.

  39. Ellessay says:

I watch Idol with my family consisting of four generations of people from their 80s down to 4 years old. The four year old didn’t express an opinion, BUT, my Dad and my aunt were very impressed with Adam’s performance. Dad was an Angie fan, and commented that he liked her duet with Adam much better than the one with Jessie J and wished she had just sung with Adam. My sister noticed how mature he looked compared to when he was on Idol.

As an entitled fan, I was very disappointed that he didn’t get an introduction as did the others, and was barely mentioned afterwards. He was a generous duet partner, and let Angie have the spotlight, as I expected, but I thought he’d get a little bit of pimping. I mean, how many Idol alumni have performed before hundreds of thousands touring with Queen? Why weren’t they pimping his Trespassing album that debuted at #1 on Billboard? These are things that makes Idol look good–why not mention them? It’s more impressive that Angie duet with a worldwide superstar than just an Idol finalist who didn’t win his season. Yeah, I didn’t like the way they treated him after the way he always gives them the credit for helping him with his career.

Who cares what Angie may or may not think about anything in the future?

[I do know what you’re saying, ulti. Kiss ]

What matters is right now – and right now tonight – Adam was given short-shrift in the U.S. yet again and I’m sick and tired of it!

  42. Kiwi says:

Sorry all you disappointed fans, but I don’t agree with you in the slightest. I have downloaded and listened to the audio several times. That duet was amazing. I don’t feel Adam held back at all. He really let rip at the end. As to the promotion, I feel that was done in his “package” the week before.Perhaps the biggest problem is that for days prior you were all building this performance up so much that it couldn’t miss being a let down. I don’t mean to upset anyone, but do try to keep things in perspective and enjoy what we get. I loved it!

  43. ultimathule says:

Keep listening to that mp3 – his voice is angelic – pure heaven.

  44. Ellessay says:

I agree, the duet was amazing. I wish it would have lasted longer. I’m not disappointed in Adam at all. I just think the show shoved him aside when Jessie J decided to fly out to sing with Angie. Maybe Adam isn’t upset at all, but as a fan, I can’t help but wish they’d tout his accomplishments like they do JHud when she performs. The package last week was nice, but this is the finale–it wouldn’t have hurt them to spare a couple of nice words of introduction.

  45. aely says:

Wow! Just got home from the movies and ran to Tivo to watch! They sounded fantastic! They sounded so great together. How cool to see Angie and Jessie also. Angie seemed so happy with everything. Wish it was longer but that was great! Now I can’t wait to catch up with you guys and try and find the red carpet stuff. By the way, I left Twitter up and it had 7220 tweets in 4 1/2 hours. That is A LOT for Adam! YAY!

  46. Kiwi says:

Thank you ultimathule, I will. And I’ll be grateful for every Adam crumb that comes my way!

  47. Kradamour says:

    Yes, duet was beautiful.
Yes, Adam the gentleman was a fabulous, warm, gracious and generous partner. All kinds of warmth flowing from him to her.

Would like to have seen some of that warmth coming back to him.
Would like to have seen him not looking uncomfortable on the stage afterward, when the Angie/Jessie lovefest was going on.

Kiwi, thank you for reminding us that Adam was pimped last week. I agree with most of what you said (except that he didn’t hold back; watch that last note on the vid and how carefully he was watching Angie to not prolong the note past her, and he stopped instantly when she did – and we all know he could have taken it a LOT further!).

But for me, the anxious mama, that isn’t the most important thing.
For me, I want Adam to feel that he isn’t an outsider. I want him to feel that he is finally one of the cool kids.
And tonight, that wasn’t what was going down on that stage.
And even worse, the two peeps who were (I think unconsciously) locking arms against him were a chick in the very beginning of her career, and a performer who he respects and has tweeted to pimp her music.

For his career, I get that this was a good evening.
For Adam, I think it was bittersweet.

But, what do I know. I could be totally misreading his expression and body language. I certainly don’t have any entree into the workings of Adam Lambert’s mind.

Good night! Again! For the last time! Really!
    Yawn Sleepy
