So cwm reminded me about the Hammersmith Day 3 video and I spent the morning watching it (while playing WWF and Scrabble with cher) and ignoring everything else. Believe me, it was very difficult to concentrate on the games. That video is just so fantastic and brings back such wonderful memories. Even though the Kiev vid is more polished, I love this one so much more because Adam is so much more relaxed and enjoying himself with the crowd, Brian, and Roger. And the proud Papa look on Brian’s face is just priceless. I truly believe that there will be more collaborations between Adam and Queen, but I feel so privileged to have been there for two of the Hammersmith concerts. They were truly epic. And of course, to have shared the experience with those of you who were there, too, made it all the more special. And most of you will be in San Diego on the almost exactly one year’s anniversary of London! I absolutely can’t wait.
Good morning. I always knew there would be a second coming for Trespassing. I have talked about it to a couple of people and here it is…if only for a short period of time. All because of this little 1:45 clip from Idol.

At first I thought what if this holds up the writing/recording of any new music? I don’t think it will as artists put out multiple songs all the time and this may be a temporary bump anyway. I feel many if not most of the Idol watchers had no idea he had a second album. They don’t follow billboard, nothing much played on the radio, usual reasons.
Am just thrilled right now for Adam. RCA must be happy too.
Am hoping that this shows Adam’s label what some serious promotion can accomplish!

I happened to be watching the Idol clip last Thursday with my husband. His only comment afterwards was, “Wow, I didn’t know Adam’s album made the number 1 spot on Billboard.” Well, yeah, honey….. I’m sure I talked about it nonstop at the time, but whatever. He must have either let it go in one ear and out the other or just plain forgot. Anyway, my point is that there must have been many American Idol viewers with a similar mindset. First of all, this may have been the first time they even heard of Trespassing (unfortunately). Secondly, the fact that it debuted at #1 on Billboard was quite impressive. Now they are interested enough to check out his album for the very first time. Very bittersweet, in my opinion — Kind of makes me sad that it took so long, but also very happy that it is finally happening.
Better late than never!

HK fan – I love that Trespassing fan video, too. So incredibly well done! And I love seeing all of the shows that are represented there. Does anyone see a clip from the Phoenix show represented in that vid? What a fantastic show that was in Phoenix.
Regarding Adam’s bump in Trespassing sales, I wish we could find out how many albums have sold since Thursday night’s Idol clip. The rational, realistic side me guesses that it’s probably in the neighborhood of a few thousand in sales, maybe up to 10,000-12,000 when all is said and done. Although Tsp has seen a huge jump in sales (which is GREAT), its actual rank is still not super high (in the 200s on Amazon and 50-60s on itunes pop subcategory (not overall)). It’s really hard to guess what those rankings might mean in terms of actual sales. I’m hoping that this jump puts US sales well over the 200,000 mark (last I heard, it was at 188,000, I think a few months ago).
Does anyone have any insights or ninja info to share in this regard?
I read an article somewhere that digital sales are only about 38% of album sales. So, P2 had 2 albums ( deluxe and standard) that were both in the top 50 last week. He sold 8,000 total copies. So 3,000 were from digital sales. Adam has one album in the 60 ish range so, really that is just like 500 maybe 1,000 copies sold. People could be buying hard copies though. But, he is back on the radar and next week could really help also. It will be fun to watch what happens!

He did do serious promo. Don’t you remember his endless visits to radio stations all over the US, and us marveling at how he could constantly find new ways to talk enthusiastically about the album? And then radio not playing his songs?
I don’t pay much attention to advertising and especially music ads so I don’t know how else the record companies promote their singers other than by radio and talk show guest appearances. In Adam’s case it seems they must find a new way to get him out there.
I hope he’s keeping a journal and that some day within our lifetime he writes a book telling us what it’s like in all those back room meetings with the music industry PTBs.
I long for the good old days of talk shows like Jack Paar and Dick Cavett, where there was time for intelligent conversation. I think Adam would do great on a show like that.
dcglam – well from what I understand, Angie is primarily a Jessie J stan, so I think she was mostly just expressing how thrilled she would be to sing with Jessie J, rather than intending it to be a diss to Adam. But haha it’s not the most diplomatic of responses, if read through the eyes of an Adam stan!
dcglam Yeah, that wish of Angie’s to sing with Jessie J is kind of messing with our hopes. But after all the publicity Adam has had vis-a-vis the finale there’s no way he won’t appear, right? Maybe he’ll just do his own thang.
What can Angie spill about her duet with Adam Lambert on the finale? “That’s the great thing. I’m not going anywhere, I’m still here. I’m going to start rehearsing and practicing for the finale this week. I’m so excited. I don’t know 100% what’s going to be going on yet, I’m so excited to be singing again. I’ll be singing on the Nokia stage, and I really can’t wait.”
Who would she love to do a dream duet with? “Definitely a huge musical inspiration of mine, 100% Jesse J. I love the soulful sound with the edge to it. Lots of her songs have that. I’ve done her songs on the show…they’re such soulful, beautiful songs. They have a certain amount of edge and grit to it that I love. I would absolutely love to do a duet with her one day. That would be amazing.”
They were two separate questions that RS just melded together. She did not say anything negative.

I agree that Adam busted his butt with radio visits all over the US last Spring before album release and then the series of radio shows last summer after album release (interrupted by the London trip and Queen shows).
I think what it would have been good to have more of would be TV appearances after album release. He only had the AI appearance at which he sang NCOE right before album release, and Good Morning America just as it was released. No US TV appearances other than those were associated with album release. I think it would have been good to be on late-night TV, not just AI and GMA. Ah well, water under the bridge. Onward!
ETA: Oh wait, I just remembered that he was on Jimmy Kimmel too! Haha never mind then. But it goes without saying that the more Adam is on our TVs, the better life is!
Agree. Angie is remarkably positive after her elimination. I do believe she has a career. She exudes a charisma and star quality, more than anyone else in the past several seasons.
I am eagerly anticipating the show on Thursday.
There is going to be an announcement of a clean sweep of the judges panel on Monday.
I just sincerely hope that they don’t spend too much time doing judge packages and a farewell to Randy. That is precious screen time that could go to the kids and guests.

I’m pretty sure Kradamour wasn’t referring to Adam doing promotion in her comment.
I took it to mean that RCA should have done/be doing more to promote Adam when look what happened after a less than 2 minute “blurb” on TV generated renewed interest and CD sales.

I’ve always said that Adam needed to be on televison. What if all of the money spent traveling and appearing at radio events had been channeled toward tv commercials pushing the album, appearances on talk shows, guest appearances on series, etc. I know I’ve seen Taylor Swift and Beiber on episodes of CSI before I knew who they were, and when I finally saw TS I remembered her from the show. I still avoid JB whenever possible.
It will be interesting to see what happens after his appearance on Idol next week. I agree that it would be great if they would mention/show a clip of his Queen performances. Or if he sang “Who Wants to Live Forever.” It may not be a song he’s pushing to sell, but it will remind everyone of what a great singer he is. I know, not happening. More likely it would be a reprise of Mad World or Whattaya Want From Me.

mils – he went to Vienna right after the Helsinki WAG show. Sauli came straight home to LA and Adam secretly went on to Vienna. At the time we didn’t know about the Life Ball but word leaked out, mostly because Adam posted something about it on his private facebook page that he accidentally made publicly visible. There were also a couple of photos of him taken at that time in that sparkly shirt with other people and posted on instagram.
They did release last year’s song on iTunes (Austria) so there is a good chance that they will do it this year. Bet they will sell a few more copies this year!

You know, there are two photos of Ali Baba costumes on page 3 of the Style Bible pdf that I posted in my last post. I wonder if one of those costumes pictured will be Adam’s actual costume, or if they are “suggestions” from which to draw inspiration? Can’t wait to see him trying to dance in that headdress!
