That is from the DC Freshtival show, from last May, when he wore the spiky shorts, and we had that beautiful outdoor stage overlooking the water as the sun set behind Adam. Sigh. Good times!

Interesting NY Times article by another Adam about growing up in the closet and what some people do to compensate. Interesting. While both Adams are obviously highly intelligent and achievement oriented they couldn’t have led different lives.

As far as I can recall, on the Idol finales, finalists have duetted with guest performers on one of the guest performer’s familiar songs, not a cover of another artist’s song. So I think that Adam and Angie will be singing one of Adam’s more familiar songs, not a cover, and not one of Adam’s more “obscure” songs like Shady or Underneath (as great as that would be).
In fact, even if they sing WWFM (which we fans have heard countless times), I still think that’s better than them singing a cover. Why? Because if it’s a cover, it just reinforces the notion, held over from AI, that Adam sings other artist’s songs and is not his own artist. Singing one of his own songs will reinforce the fact that he is his own artist with his own body of work.
So I am firmly in the camp of #OneOfAdam’sOwnSongs
Also, this performance is for the AI audience, not for us Adam fans, so I’m 100% fine if it’s WWFM.

Agree, cwm. Lol I am in the minority that loves WWFM and I don’t care how often I hear it. Especially Energy Berlin. And that duet in China…. Just wow. And he sings each and every time like it’s the first time.

Here is another piece definitely worth sharing. I heard it on the radio last night, on NPR. Seventeen years ago, then-teenaged Amanda was given a tape-recorder to document her life. She is gay, and a conversation with her parents about her sexuality was recorded. It’s rather painful to listen to. Now, 17 years later, the producers have gone back to Amanda, at 34, to find out how her life has turned out, and they gave her a audio-recorder again. And she has a current-day discussion with her parents about her sexuality. It is so heartwarming and encouraging and hope-giving to hear how her parents evolved in their openness and acceptance toward their daughter’s sexuality and toward homosexuality in general. Although homophobia obviously still persists, I think this story, or a story like it, is happening in households across America.
I highly recommend giving it a listen. Amanda’s story is the first one on the page. I recommend listening to both the “1996: Girlfriend” segment and the “2013: A Family ‘Evolves'” segment.

I’m throwing my 2 cents in the pot for WWFM for Idol finales. It was his grammy nominate hit. I think it would work as a duet and most of the TV audience have
probablynot heard it a gazillion times like we have.Knowing Adam, I’m betting he will do something he hasn’t done before on Idol. He just did NCOE, already did WWFM and Aftermath. And, maybe something that he feels would go well with Angie’s voice. What that would be, I have NO idea. Will it be from FYE or Trespassing? I guess Trespassing, the album he needs to promo right now….would love Map, but not released in the US. Wish he would take a risk and surprise us with……Runnin’. Oh, hell, I don’t know.
One thing I do know for sure: Since we see the program 3 hr. later, I usually try and stay away from twitter and blogs so I don’t know what is happening ahead. But, on that night it will be impossible not to “cheat”. I’ll bet I will have seen a video of the duo before the show is even on for us.
I am hoping it’s NOT WWFM. It has been done. Not a cover either. Just the contestants do covers on Idol. LOL I think it should be something from Trespassing. But what do I know, I haven’t watched at all this year.

Weighing in on song discussion. My opinion. They asked Adam to sing with Angie. They are promoting Angie, their current idol. She probably asked for Adam, and they wanted him on there too. They dont give diddly about what Adam needs promoting, but they do want Angie and Adam to shine, so I think they will tell him what to sing, but knowing our strong willed boy, he will have a big imput in it, and bear in mind, this current year of the audience of AI have never heard Adam sing, or only remembers him a little from the show 4 years ago. What is important, is that he represents himself well, which he will, and gain a lot of new fans, or some back.
The question is, how does he want to represent himself now that he has this great chance? Since traveling all over the damn country to the radio stations didnt help him? What will make people want to come back, trouble is there are so many different sides of Adam, one side appeals to a certain person, another side appeals to other people. Who is most important? How can we bring him back to the money paying public? Heck they pay for untalentless Beiber, discusting Chris Brown, they pay for a talent like Bruno Mars, if I was Adam, I would be going crazy, trying to figure out how to handle this. Or in Adam speak, its not that deep

On another topic, Bieber is being sued by some peeps here in SE Virginia who claim to have written the song that first put him on the charts, and they want $10million. From what I read in the paper today, it looks like a good lawsuit.
Poor Biebs seems to be imploding…too much fame and adoration too fast. I look at his career and am so grateful that it took Adam a while. He had time to grow into it – and regardless how the
blip on the screenIdol finale goes, he is going to have a long and productive career ahead of him.And he richly deserves it.
Quite the dilemma….on what to sing on AI.
Producers probably want something safe and known like WWFM or IIHY.
Mind-of-his-own Adam (and thank god for that) probably wants to do something off of Trespassing which is a bit harder. Most songs are either non-duet-able, have language issues, or have never been heard before (by those other than glamberts). If I had to guess…I would say either BTIKM, or Trespassing (with obvious lyric tweak for “ass” as he does in some Asian venues). I think it would be a travesty to have him sing someone else’s song, and I would hope he would strenuously protest against it. I don’t think it does anything positive for him, at this point, to do that.
But, what do I know?

Well. It looks like my love of rock doesn’t go over very well here. Oh well. To each their own.
Adam, on the other hand, is a huge rock lover, and a rock star. Yes he is versatile, yes he can sing anything,
BUT
He has pipes meant to kill it on rock songs.
The rock covers are what get him attention. When he did Purple Haze, a true legendary song by none less than Hendrix, he got lots of press, and even Seacrest wanted it heard and posted it on his sites.
Same for Sandman and AYGGMY.
I looorved them all. Shout was just meh for me. It grew better with each singing, but, I just wasn’t a fan of it in the 80’s to begin with.
Now, about Meatloaf. I loved me some Loaf back in the day. I wore out Bat Out of Hell and needed to buy a replacement record. I looorved him in Rocky Horror. I also had to replace my RH record, wore it out in college. Wore. It. Out.
Love love love Paradise By The Dashboard Lights. I sing it out loud to this day if it comes on the radio. I amazed my kids by knowing every single word of it.
But. These days he’s a joke. He’s a punchline. He had those anger attacks on Celebrity Apprentice, and had some major health problems. He’s been on tour this year, and has had to cancel several gigs due to poor ticket sales, and health problems. AND. He has been getting really really bad reviews. He was here in my city in the same theater Adam played for GN, and had a scathing review. Poor Meat.
So. I just don’t think Paradise is gonna happen. I would be very surprised.
I do think they could do something like turn FYE on it’s ear and sing it as a ballad.

I like rock Adam too Mils, just don’t like those songs he’s chosen to cover so far, but I love ‘Shout’. always did, but prefer Adams version to Tears for Fears. Love all his Queen covers, I prefer the lighter (classic) rock to the heavier stuff.
I love Bat out of Hell too, its on my ipod, still love to sing along when the songs come on, especially Paradise by the Dashboard light…
Oh, mils, Personally I would love Adam to rock it out with Angie but I think the songs like Mad World or WWFM are probably what he WILL sing, not what I want him to sing. Can’t wait to see what it ends up being.
retjenny, we get Idol the day after the US here, and I can never stop myself from reading MJ’s to find out whats happened and watch some of the videos….but we are getting a live telecast of the finale the same time as in the US, 8am on may 17th…which is a public holiday so I’ll be able to watch, along with everyone else..
