After what has seemed like an eternally long wait since Adam’s Glam Nation/FYE era ended, we have finally arrived at May 2012 – the month that Adam’s new album “Trespassing” will be released! The album will drop in the U.S. & Canada on May 15th. Lucky fans in New Zealand & Japan will get the album a few days earlier on May 11th, Australia & Germany a few days later on May 18th, while some other European countries (U.K., Ireland, France) will have to wait until July. In addition to the album release, we can look forward to three concerts with Adam headlining this month, the KRZ Summer Bash in Wilkes-Barre PA on May 25th, at Six Flags New England on May 26th, and the Freshtival in National Harbor MD on May 27th. We will also see Adam perform on American Idol May 17th, will have the official push of “Never Close Our Eyes” to pop radio beginning on May 29, and may see the music video for NCOE later this month as well!

Our featured photo for this month’s chat comes from Adam’s mini-concert of April 26th on the Jimmy Kimmel show.

It’s going to be an exciting month as we begin the Trespassing era, enjoy the chat!

I really like Train and Neon Trees. Thinking about Des Moines. Went to college in Cedar Rapids. Have a son and a friend in Nashville. Hmmm…end of July is great timing…need to go look at a road atlas…

  2. luval says:

    Thanks, Kradamour.

Did anyone watch a bit of the Montreal livestream? The crowd was big, young and screaming!!! I swear it’s America. Although they seemed to focus on glam, WWFM and IIHY. The rest of the world embraces & loves him. I think he still has a long way to go around here. And yes, radio is a HUGE problem.

  3. glambotgram says:

I also think radio has a lot to do with it. Most people have no idea who they are listening to, they just like the song. If we could just get radio play, but you can’t get radio play without being popular and can’t get popular without radio play. AAARRRGGG

  5. riskylady says:

So, wait, are we saying the charting in other countries doesn’t count, and these radio adds from yesterday don’t count either? Even with his previous ADDS he was getting more audience than songs 20 spots above him because of daytime spins.

    ADDS today!!! (the 29th)

    (2 Canada-HAC, 1 Canada-CHR/Pop, US 6 HAC, US 7 CHR/Pop)

Sorry, I am NOWHERE NEAR throwing in the towel, and don’t think RCA is either. They have a worldwide launch going on, Queen concerts, good buzz in the UK. Nope, NOT READY. Really Pissed Really Pissed Really Pissed

  6. luval says:

    hmmmm is right, glambotgram.

Wasn’t NCOE the one the radio people thought would be a good song for radio? I really love it but I guess I’m in the minority.

  7. riskylady says:

P.S. NCOE Video now has 767,570 views in just two days. Over 19,000 Likes, only 378 dislikes.

  8. dcglam says:

I spent part of this evening reading the comments on a numbers thread regarding David Cook, Kris Allen, and Haley Reinhart. Talk about doom and gloom….. Adam looks like another Adele compared to this group, and two of whom were AI winners.

I totally blame and am still sick about the radio situation. Adam visited three stations in the DC area during the latter part of March. Two of them have yet to play either of his Trespassing singles. I know because I keep checking the playlists. The Freshtival station is the only one that seems on board with our boy. There should be some guarantee in place that if an artist takes time and effort to visit a station, that his or her single should be a given as far as that station is concerned. UGH!!

  9. luval says:

riskylady…with numbers like that for the video it’s gonna hit one million in no time.

I just went to youtube & looked at the approx. numbers for previous videos. Just the official video. Actually suprised IIHY has more than FYE & WWFM. (again just the official video).

    IIHY 30,500,000
    WWFM 29,000,000
    FYE 14,600,000
    BTIKM 7,000,000
    TFM 1,500,000

And if Adam is done and a tour was announced tomorrow, I think it would sell out immediately all over the world. Over? NO WAY!!!!!!!!

  10. little dutchess says:

ron not caught up yet…but just watched your “video”. Loved it. You looked marvelous!!!! And apparently handled yourself well with our wonderful Adam! Much better than I would have.
So happy you shook hands and spoke and that TLKC captured the event with a pretty god picture.

As for the hat–it’s dashing and smashing! I think you should try wearing it again. The Duke sends his best as do I!

  11. dcglam says:

HELL NO! NOT WHILE WE HAVE BREATH IN OUR BODIES!

So true, Kradamour, so true!! High Five!

  12. apal123 says:

I was just investigating the Des Moines concert. I’m slightly confused about the venue. I googled Water Works Park and it appears to be what Chicagoans call a forest preserve. Am I at the correct site? Will they truck in a stage and set it up in an open field? JoJosie, am I looking at the wrong thing?

Ellessay so sorry to hear about your husband. I hope he will fully recover.

Texas sounds like your hubby is on the mend thank goodness.

mils how nice that you and your Mom got to relish your son’s special night.

kradamour what a lovely and true post. Thank goodness you are around to put in words what so many of us are feeling.

and last but not least..Ron loved, loved, loved your youtube. How wonderful to share a blow by blow with us in such a unique way. I totally agree on your thoughts about luval (BTW I didn’t pick up on the luv AL until you clarified) but in no way agree on your looking bad in hats. I thought it was an incredibly good look for you.

I am on the Adam will be just fine train. I have to think that his second week sales showed that many non-super fans bought his album (a single copy) this past week versus the super fans who bought multiple copies pre release and during the first week. The number was actually pretty reasonable in today’s market. His sales in other countries will keep is total numbers up and his exposure with Queen should make a difference. No matter what, our BB has a #1 BB release; a passionate/multi-generational fan base, a beautiful boyfriend, an incredible head of hair, perfect teeth, eyes, nose, etc. and a set of pipes that were a gift from another world.

Trying to catch up on things after getting back from Toronto. Ron, it was great to catch up with you again. Turquoisewaters, so nice to meet you. Nicky, sorry I missed you. I hung out at Much Music until about 7pm then migrated over to HMV for the signing. What a great day. Adam looked gorgeous, and I’m so happy for Ron, that he got his chance to meet Adam. What a view of Adam Turquoisewaters and I had at Much Music. He came within inches of us. I wish now that I had videotaped him, but I decided to take it all in, be in the moment and didn’t even hand him anything to sign. But that was mainly because I would be doing that later.

Thanks for posting Adam’s Toronto interviews here.

I’m trying to get it on every page luval!

  20. nkd says:

Ron, I love your video recap!
What a great moment with Adam. It seemed as if he was happy to meet you, as he should be.
I agree that luval is very thoughtful and quite incredible.

  21. turquoisewaters says:

Northern Spirit: I loved meeting you too. I actually have a tiny video of Adam coming out after MuchMusic. I just emailed it to Ron and asked him to either post it on the Spring/Summer Concerts Thread or email it directly to you. As I said, it’s just a very short video, but enough to bring back the memory.

turquoisewaters, I’ll remind Ron to send it to me. Did you manage to get Adam to sign your CD? Sorry for not saying good bye to you after the show. I was on a mission to get over to HMV plus, I just wasn’t thinking coherently after standing in the hot sun for 4 hours. Paying for it now….I’m a bit on the stiff side.

ellesay what a scare! So glad your hubby is coming along. They’ll figure out what’s best for the long run but it’s a tough situation as you are BOTH going through it. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

TexasWannaHoldEm your hubby too with the heatstroke. What an ordeal. Thankfully he got home safe and got the treatment he needed. We in FL and TX always need to think about the hydration even if we don’t think there’s a problem. This past weekend in DC after sitting out in the sun with several of the peeps from this blog, I got “shaky” and felt poorly. THe Duke and I left thinking maybe a bite to eat would help, since we hadn’t eaten since breakfast. But my pulse rate was up 20-30 beats per minute higher than normal and it was scary. I went into the air conditioned hotel for quite a bit since since just relaxing in the shade wasn’t doing much and I drank at least 2 bottles of water and ,fortunately, voila, I felt better; my pulse went back to normal and I enjoyed Adam’s show. Of course, I missed a lot of the other entertainment but I was there really only for Adam. Thanks to my fellow blog members we still had our good place from which to watch. Lesson learned-keep drinking… water. I’m not that good down here in FL but I’m working harder at it. Obviously, your husband had a much more serious issue and I’m glad to hear he’s moving forward quickly.

I almost forgot! I taped the whole WB concert from front row mezzanine, just propped the camera on the front railing and ignored it until the end. I set it to cover the whole stage for an overview. I love the closeup vids but sometimes it is nice to see Adam in the context of the larger stage. No idea how well or poorly it came out – I’ll try to get it up tomorrow.

Ellesay and Texas, hope all is well. Man talk about scary situations.

On another note, I wonder if the Glamberts are gonna break Fantasy Spring’s website? If last time sold quickly, look out now!

  35. sparkle says:

Hi everyone! Just did some speedreading to get to the end of the comments – 77 pages – wow and we still have a day to go. Texas and Ellesay – sending my H,T & P out for your hubby’s continued recovery. What’s the record # of pages, eywflyer? I think we must be close to #1 this month.
I’m an optimistic person and my thinking is that Adam broke a barrier with his #1 on BB and even if Trespassing never gets the recognition and radio play it so richly deserves in the U.S., the main thing is that he will ALWAYS have such a large group of incredibly dedicated, passionate and wonderful fans. And he now understands, more than ever, after WB and the other concerts and events this spring, that he is so lucky to have us! (We’ve ALWAYS known how lucky we are to have Adam in our lives and be part of the glamily).
After seeing Adam at the barricades after the show for the Idol tour in Reading, PA in 2009, I seriously believed that I would never be that close to Adam again. Then the miracle of WB happened and we touched hands!!! So, even though I would be so happy for him if he became a huge worldwide superstar, I would be equally (okay if I’m honest, selfishly I’d be happier) if he had only a modicum of success that allowed for smaller, more intimate venues like WB to occur a few times a year. So I simply can’t get too upset by what “the numbers” say!!!

Thanks nkd, dcglam and glambotgram for your congratulations. The new job is going well so far (day 3 is tomorrow) and this weekend I get to see my other daughter play rugby in PPL Park (where the Philadelphia Union plays MLS soccer).

My family was happy that I returned from WB unharmed, after catching a ride with strangers (little dutchess and the duke) and staying with another stranger (mmm222) overnight in a hotel room. Funny, my mom says the family thinks I’m now more like the girl I was in high school – there may be some truth to that!!

  36. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

Just dropping in to say hi and let you all know that my hubby is doing much better! His energy level is still a little down and his stomach’s a little upset, but we’re very fortunate that this has turned out the way it has. little dutchess, I’m glad that a cool break and water helped with your heat issues – being from the “hot” part of the country, like you and I are, we sometimes assume that we know how to deal with the heat. It’s amazing how quickly it can become a problem. I so appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers!

riskylady, I’m not ready to throw in the towel either! NCOE got a lot of adds yesterday, right? (Sorry, can’t remember the number, but I know I was impressed!) And luval, I agree with you – I love NCOE. In fact, I was playing the CD in my car when I picked up my 15-yr old son from school today and NCOE was playing softly in the background. Once he recognized the song, he reached over and cranked the volume up, saying “This one’s actually pretty good!” Very high praise coming from him. Smile And kradamour, I think you mentioned a page or two back that Adam may always be a musician’s musician, enjoy some professional recognition, and earn a respectable living even if he never achieves massive pop star status. This could be how it plays out, and I’d be very happy with that! I have to remind myself that there are many different definitions of success. As long as Adam continues making a nice living providing his fans with fabulous music and making appearances, I’ll be happy… I hope that he’s always financially secure and happy in his personal life. Smile

  37. turquoisewaters says:

Hi sparkle! I am glad your job is working out.
The numbers have me somewhat depressed today. I know that Adam would be earning alright even if he does not become a superstar. But he wants it so bad, and therefore I want it so bad for him. Honestly I think talentwise he can keep up with the best of them. I have been to concerts of MJ, Prince, Adele, and others, and they all put on great shows. But I have never in any of those shows experienced such an insane atmosphere as existed at Adam’s concert in WB, where the whole audience just screamed from start to finish and the love both ways was so palpable. I have never heard anyone sing better live. I just can’t believe that radio is such a close-minded bunch that they can’t get over the gay thing.

  38. ultimathule says:

Yes, turquoisewaters – that’s what’s depressing – I think he really does want that kind of success. And he’s so deserving of it – and that’s what’s so painful for me and so many others here. I just don’t see how he can break through the barrier of radio’s non-acceptance. He’s done everything they wanted, including input in picking the single – what else can he do? Is there another way to achieve what he wants? Wish I had some inkling as to whether his people are going to do anything about the problem.

  46. luval says:

I love those signing videos! The singing ones in Montreal are so fun. But to me Adam looks stunned or shocked or sad-ish. Especially during IIHY and FYE. NCOE…very happy!

  47. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

Those singing videos are so cute!!! I just love him so much – he’s just too adorable and precious for words. His facial expressions during NCOE … I was watching him with the biggest smile on my face! Grin Let’s not be too gloomy, friends – the world is out there and he’s just started “Trespassing” outside the U.S.! If U.S. radio is too close-minded to give a more than deserving artist the spins that he’s worked so hard for, to hell with them. I am still very hopeful that the rest of the world will give Adam and Trespassing the love and respect it deserves!

    I Heart Canada!

  48. luval says:

    Ditto, Texas!!!

  49. Teri63 says:

I was just reading through some of the posts on here and wanted to comment. I started reading them last night but the vibe was too gloomy for my very tired self to handle. Here’s my take: Even though Adam is still struggling at radio, overall, he’s at a better place career-wise than he’s ever been before. He just released an album that continues to receive mostly stellar reviews and a video that’s quickly mounting views, lots of press and critical praise. He’s just coming off a crazy radio promo tour during which he re-connected with his fans and likely gained some new ones, AND, he continues to book shows for July after he sneaks in those 6 concerts fronting QUEEN! Trespassing seems to be loved internationally, as well, with England climbing on the Adam train for the first time. If his stint with Queen is met with generally positive reviews, I expect that his popularity will really rise there.

I get that Adam needs a hit song to spur album sales, but I’m not throwing in the towel for him this early in the game. RCA has said they’re considering him and handling him like they would a new artist. They fully expected these hurdles, but they seem to have enough faith in Adam and his talent to invest the time and resources necessary to “grow” his success.

I kind of feel like a lot of his fans are experiencing that normal kind of let-down that occurs after something really exciting, like post-vacation or post-honeymoon blues. We’ve been strung along for months and months awaiting the album, being teased mercilessly (LOL) along the way with little snippets of songs, hints from press peeps about its being epic, etc. Then the album came out and there was all the praise, then all the radio gigs, then the video…. It’s been such a whirlwind of activity, but now a lot of it is over, and in the wake of it Adam’s single is still ever-so- slooowly moving up the HAC chart. Considering it only went for adds this week, though, having an audience impression of over 2 million seems pretty good to me.

Anyway, sorry to drone on and on, but I’m still really optimistic. In addition to feeling like fans might be experiencing a post whirlwind let-down, I also kind of feel like we can be overly demanding of him. I mean, just a month or so ago, we worried that his album might not be received well critically, then just two weeks ago we worried it might not chart well. Well, it’s critically acclaimed and charted at #1, making history along the way, but now that he’s not at the very top we’re thinking his career is over — just one week later? It seems like the more he accomplishes, the more we expect. I just think we need to sit back, take a breath and continue our support as we let the normal slow growth of a relative newcomer occur. Yes, there are always newbies to take right off with a big old hit, but that’s not Adam’s fate. He’s managed, though, to hold onto a fanbase for 3 years between Idol and the present, is finally gaining the critical respect his talent deserves and is getting opportunities most in the industry would die for. I think he’s in a pretty good spot!

    OK, sorry, rant over!

  50. Teri63 says:

Actually, I lied, my rant isn’t quite over yet. LOL! I make it my rule never to comment negatively on other Idols because I know they have fans who love them like I do Adam. I’m making a little exception here, though, to make a point. I think we should also be celebrating the fact that Adam seems to have moved beyond his Idol tag. Yes, the majority of his current fans were acquired via the show, but we were obviously TRUE fans because we’ve stuck by him years later. Based on his 77,000 first week sales versus the 2008 winner’s 17,000, I think it’s safe to say that Adam enters this new era in a good, solid spot fanbase-wise, and we’re real fans of the individual artist, not just voting fans of a competition show.
