After what has seemed like an eternally long wait since Adam’s Glam Nation/FYE era ended, we have finally arrived at May 2012 – the month that Adam’s new album “Trespassing” will be released! The album will drop in the U.S. & Canada on May 15th. Lucky fans in New Zealand & Japan will get the album a few days earlier on May 11th, Australia & Germany a few days later on May 18th, while some other European countries (U.K., Ireland, France) will have to wait until July. In addition to the album release, we can look forward to three concerts with Adam headlining this month, the KRZ Summer Bash in Wilkes-Barre PA on May 25th, at Six Flags New England on May 26th, and the Freshtival in National Harbor MD on May 27th. We will also see Adam perform on American Idol May 17th, will have the official push of “Never Close Our Eyes” to pop radio beginning on May 29, and may see the music video for NCOE later this month as well!

Our featured photo for this month’s chat comes from Adam’s mini-concert of April 26th on the Jimmy Kimmel show.

It’s going to be an exciting month as we begin the Trespassing era, enjoy the chat!

    Good Morning Sun

    Hi rs!

That first shirt caught my attention a couple of years on eBay because it was advertised as a “Disco Ball” shirt. I can’t imagine what the fabric is that makes it have a sheen and sparkle to it. The sun, or any light that hits it, makes it reflect and look like … well, a disco ball! There are no sequins, glitter or crystal studs to make it appear this way yet it sparkles and shines and is a fun shirt to wear. It isn’t blue, though. It’s silver and black. What you can’t see in the photo are practically a matching pair of shoes! They also have a sheen and sparkle to them. I didn’t buy them to go with the shirt it’s just a coincidence. Shoes really complete the whole outfit.

    Here they are:

I’m either going to wear the Disco Ball shirt Snicker or the long white tail-shirt …

OR … because the weather forecast has been updated to show no rain on Monday BUT the temperature will be 34C/99F!! Sweat Wilt Sweat

… I’m now giving serious consideration to wearing only my bathing suit … and a great big smile! Grin

  2. rs says:

ron, even in the picture I could see how great the disco ball shirt is. I would still like to see it with white pants, maybe because everybody else would wear it with black!

  3. HK fan says:

34c ron….an average summers day in HK, with up to 100% humidity!

I read on one of the concert threads that Adams cd;s were being sold at the venue, do these sales count towards his total even though they’re not in a shop, or itune, amazon etc?

  4. Ron says:

    Hi HK fan!!

The CD sales absolutely count. This IS a shop/store (it’s called HMV) where this autograph session is going to take place. I think it’s going to be a MadHouse! Prior to HMV, Adam will be co-hosting a TV show at the MuchMusic studio directly across the street from HMV at 5:00pm. Autograph signing is scheduled for 6:30pm. They might have to close off traffic. I think it’s going to be a mob scene!

Have to wonder how Adam is going to leave MuchMusic and go to HMV? Walk across the street? Roll him up in a carpet and carry him over? Big Smile

It’s going to be a very interesting afternoon! Wink

I’m SO hoping I’ll get to meet turquoisewaters and see Nicky again! I know many, many people who are going to be there. Gonna be fun!

  5. milwlovesadam says:

Ron, I’m really excited for you!

Now, please remind me which day your event is. Is he performing? Or just appearing?

  6. HK fan says:

It sounds like its going to be a great afternoon ron, I hope we get lots of juicy details from you. Its so great how you all get to meet up so often with each other and the friendships you’ve found through this fandom Smile
I know HMV, we have them here too…
I meant the cds sold at the radio concerts though, presuming they count too?

  7. HK fan says:

off to bed, night all. Been an exhausting day doing nothing but socialising!!

  8. eywflyer says:

Cross post of mine from the concert thread, looks like peeps are mostly here again:

On my way to Fort Myers now. Incredible show last night, one of the best I’ve ever seen from Adam. He looked so confident and happy, the crowd was extremely enthusiastic and knew all the words to all the songs. Adam knew that was his crowd!

Amusing quote from the W-B newspaper review this morning:
    http://t.co/ZTNurFDB

“Although the album hit the shelves less than two weeks ago, it seemed nearly everyone in the audience was very familiar with the material”

Obviously they don’t know what fandom they are dealing with!

eywflyer, AL, impossible to measure how much this blog and your contributions mean to me (pretty sure I speak for everyone)! The concert videos are just amazing, and your fotos last night and twitter comments were just great, especially “crystal clear vocals” eywflyer, probably my fave 3 words to describe an Adam concert! Thank you so much!!!

    Hi mils!

    Just back from grocery shopping.

He might be performing for the MuchMusic show (where they have a huge window that opens onto the street and maybe we’ll be able to see/hear him from the line-up across the way?) but not at the signing. I imagine it will be the same as a book signing with Adam sitting at a desk as we go up to him.

It’s Monday, mils … just the day after tomorrow! I foolishly asked TLKC, “Do you think we might have about a minute each with Adam? Something like that?” She then reminded me that there will be 200 people waiting for his autograph. If each person got to spend a minute with him, that would stretch out to nearly a 3 and 1/2 hour autograph session. We have to know that that’s not going to happen. “Hi! What’s your name? Thank you very much” is probably going to be about it.

But, I do get to shake his hand and I’ve hoped for the longest time that one day I’d have that opportunity so … it’s all good!

  14. milwlovesadam says:

Ron, however long you have with him , it just won’t matter. Five minutes or five seconds, just bask in his glow. He has an aura of positive energy that is hard to describe. Virtually every one that has been close to him can agree. I don’t understand it. He’s just a human being. But his energy is unbelievable.

Just take it all in. Don’t take your eyes off of him. Look in his eyes, shake his hand, hug if possible. I wouldn’t even worry about signing, but bring something that it won’t rub off of. I have heard that if he signs the outside of your CD case, it will rub off.

48 hours and counting. I know the feeling. So happy for you!!!

  15. rs says:

I was just on last night’s concert thread and most of the vids are up. To say that they are fabulous is an understatement. Beautiful, clear, immaculate, vocals to go with gorgeous picture quality. It blows my mind that this is only the….how many times has the band performed these songs together?…..performance. Did you hear him talking about the tour next summer with bangee boys and dancing girls wearing beach wear? But sad that he had to keep reassuring the parents that they shouldn’t take the word “naked” literally. He has learned how people manipulate his words.

Anyway, more than anything I loved seeing him so happy. The only time that there wasn’t a huge grin on his face at the end of a song was after Broken English and you could tell that that song gets to him. And I loved that he broke out some of the sexy moves that we love, definitely not PG13, especially in Broken English. I was thinking that he is missing Sauli and thinking about him while singing that song.

  16. milwlovesadam says:

    rs. Totally agree.

Wonderful wonderful performance. Those vids are almost like being there. He is just hitting that tour groove.

Then, he’s off to London for June. Then Queen. Hopefully he’ll be all over radio and video by then.

Next summer tour. Did he really say that? I’m thinking TPTB are going to let him keep doing occasional shows and promos, build more singles, then do a full-on tour. It’ll be awesome.

  17. milwlovesadam says:

Is anybody going to the show tonight?

Those dance moves at the end of Kickin In!!!!!!!!!!!

IKR? I know I’ve mentioned this before, but must say it again… This song will be so much fun for Adam and his audiences each night throughout his tour.
Looking forward to it! Dance Dance Dance

Also, note to self: Be sure to stand in the front row with my arms crossed, especially during Naked Love. Hug Left Hug Right Laugh

  24. luval says:

Hi everyone…back from WB and the most spectacular concert ever! I said this about Ste Agathe and this concert ranked equal (but different, of course). Want to give a shout out hello to all of us there (and not there lol)…nkd, adamized, kradamour, turquoise waters (enjoy toronto, turquoise!), csesq & her pal (sorry, forgot your posting name!), ovationimpact, mmm222, sparkle, little dutchess & the duke, glambotgram, eywflyer, of course. Hope I didn’t forget anyone. And this has been said many times before but the experience being with wonderful people with the same mindset is so refreshing! We had a ball & can’t wait to do it again. And most of us got a special “Adam moment”! Pays to go to a small town. Will have to remember that on the tour.

  25. riskylady says:

HELP, someone (luval?) who was there last night! What or who was Adam glowering at at the end of Broken English? Or was it just a momentary thing?

  26. luval says:

riskylady…didn’t notice that last night but I just watched Broken English twice to see what you were referring to.

Maybe the band wasn’t up to it as much as he wanted. You know, Mr Perfection. I’m sure they didn’t have much time to rehearse. I didn’t notice anything but that probably is not an excuse with Adam.

I’ll have to look at all the videos again but I remember Adam gesturing to Tommy “the step it up arm & hand move”. Can’t remember which song, though. But I could be reading it all wrong. Am a little concerned with Tommy. I love him but he just doesn’t seem to have the technical skills that Adam might need. (plus the yawning and doesn’t seem to care look we’ve talked about). Please don’t throw tomatoes! Smile

  27. rs says:

riskylady I don’t think that he was glaring at anybody. Look at the end of this vid. It goes longer and he says something about how that song makes him feel, physically. Of course he may be covering up, but I don’t think so. You can see that during the song he makes these movements with his body that look “broken” I think he really gets into it. But maybe I am wrong.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntSnwm4Wej0&feature=youtu.be

  28. rs says:

Don’t throw tomatoes at me, but I really enjoy Tommy’s guitar. Tonight you couldn’t hear his solo, which was too bad. I have no musical education, so I can’t talk about skills, but I find Tommy’s style more melodic and less jarring than either Monte or Kevin were. It could have to do with the strings he is using. It seems to go better as an accompaniment to Adam’s voice and not in competition with it.
Hasn’t he stopped yawning at the radio shows?

  29. luval says:

Hi rs…I love tomatoes! I noticed I couldn’t hear Tommy’s solo last night nor at Springleball. Were we the only ones?

eta: I don’t think it’s the yawning but just the look of disinterest. And I’m beginning to think that it’s “just him”. To me he has a sadness about him. He came out of the bus last night quite a bit after Adam (people were calling for him lol) and he just seemed sad! I was right in front of him and gave him my sharpie to sign and he looked so forlorn. Would love to sit down with him and find out what’s in his brain.

  30. luval says:

Are we going to get a soundcloud or something from that Sirius radio broadcast this weekend?

  31. rs says:

luval, I wouldn’t presume to know what is in anybody’s head who I didn’t know personally, and in the heads of most people I do know. However, from what I have read and heard, Tommy cares very deeply for Adam, so his behavior certainly doesn’t stem from apathy. During the GNT people said that Tommy was very nice and friendly with fans, so he might be going through something now. If he is sad right now, we can be sure that his very good friend will find the time in his busy schedule to talk to him and support him.

  32. AL says:

We now have at least one video of all songs from the Wilkes-Barre concert. One was missing and it was driving me “cuckoo”. Silly

  33. luval says:

rs…hi …just to clarify…to me he LOOKS sad, but that’s just me. Looks mean nothing.

eta: I’ll go check out Cuckoo, AL. And since you brought that up IMO (in the minority, I know), I wish the ending was changed. The band intro break to me brings down the energy and picking up the song after is clunky and odd. Again, this is my opinion. Love Cuckoo in all ways, though!

  34. Oksana2000 says:

Looks like a delicious dinner may be served. Check on concert thread.

  35. AL says:

haha – just for luval and rs… Tommy cam from Wilkes-Barre! Wink

  36. milwlovesadam says:

Re: Tommy. He seems to have less “personality” now than he did on GN. He may be going through something personal, Who knows. It’s all speculation. He was very open and friendly on GN,

I don’t think they are mic-ing him correctly for these shows. His solos are not audible. He also may have a different guitar playing style than Monte did. Monte had more of a hard rocking lead guitar front-man style. Tommy seems to almost play his guitar like he’s still on bass. He’s very laid back. It may be a strum/pick difference. Monte could also play slide, which is more bluesy and rock and roll.

Many people in various sites have commented that Tommy just quite frankly isn’t the most talented guitarist out there. And, from my perspective as the mom of guitar playing and guitar-obsessed sons, who have exposed me to and taught me a lot about guitar playing, I would tend to agree. IMHO.

  37. ultimathule says:

Don’t really have any informed comments about Tommy’s abilities on the guitar, but do know that one of the reasons Adam picked him was because of his “look.” As you probably all remember, he auditioned as a guitarist, but turned bassist to join the band. Guess Adam really wanted him. Think maybe for more reasons than his skills.

  38. luval says:

I’m surprised Adam doesn’t notice the inaudible lead guitar at times. I was looking forward to the guitar solo last night since I couldn’t hear it at Springle either. Wonder if Adam will ever do the ROF-ish wail again. But it is a perfect spot for a guitar solo. They’ve just got to get the sound correct. Oh well, only 2 more shows. Probably doesn’t matter now.

  39. milwlovesadam says:

Ultimat: Exactly. I think he was best as Monte’s second guitar. I’m just hoping to hear him properly mic’d so that I (we) can hear him wail out a solo. I will say, that Adam had a great guitarist in Monte. Too bad he was such a fail as a business partner and friend.

And, to be honest, Monte wouldn’t have kept performing with Tommy unless Tommy had chops. So, like I said, I just want to be able to hear him properly. I do love a good guitar solo.

  40. milwlovesadam says:

Is Adam playing in Iowa? Jojosie posted a while back about it? Or was it a mistaken advertisement?

  41. luval says:

Dinner is served on other thread! (a little early but the crowd is already shouting ADAM!!!! ADAM!!!!!!)

  42. dcglam says:

    My humble opinion about Tommy…..
I feel that it is a total personality issue. Tommy seems to be very shy, introverted, and laid back by nature. This is quite the extreme opposite of Adam who is very extroverted, animated, and vivacious. They do say that opposites attract. In this case, I totally feel that this is what is happening. Adam needs to be in control, and Tommy seems just fine with doing whatever Adam wants whenever it needs to happen. Perhaps, it is a match made in heaven!Wink

  43. luval says:

    I think so, mils.

    http://www.star1025.com/pages/13134080

Did you hear him sing IIHY tonight? Kind of a mess but I love that song!

  44. milwlovesadam says:

So, July 28th in Iowa. Hmmm. Gives me hope for more Midwest dates. That Rockford show was at a festival on Labor Day weekend. If he isn’t doing “concerts” this summer at formal venues generally, ( WB was a theater ), then maybe more bookings will follow at festivals.

The twitter feed from the stream said Nirvana. Must have video.

Ron, you gonna be Ok? Nirvana. and M&G to plan for. Oh My.

  45. milwlovesadam says:

luval, IIHY and a livestream brought me right back to GN baby!!

I never made it to my treadmill. It’s Adam’s Fault.

  46. luval says:

Are you talking about the stream that just ended? I didn’t hear Nirvana.

mils, I’m thinking they’ll have Train as the headliner at the Iowa show but it’s so worth it! Anything with Adam is worth it!

  47. mmm222 says:

I feel like I’m in the middle of a wonderful dream this weekend. The Wilkes Barre adventure started off with Adam walking off the elevator and into the lobby while sparkle and I were in line waiting to check in at the Best Western. It just kept getting better and better after that. The concert was incredible! Adam was at his finest, absolutely supercharged and on fire! He was so pumped up about his #1 album (as he should be) and thanked us all for making it possible. He looked so handsome and happy. His vocals were perfect from soft and beautiful to fabulous wails. But the dance moves were the best: sexy, energetic and just plain fun. I was on my feet alternating between bouncing around with a big grin on my face and standing there with my jaw dropped. How does he move like that? Oh, and he sings at the same time. It’s just mind boggling! The audience was wildly into him the whole time, and he really fed off that, making the show even better.

After the show, our ALL group hung out by the bus waiting to see if he’d come out. We were continuing our conversations that started at dinner anyway, and what better place was there to do it. After a while Adam came out of the back of the theater grinning and gracious and offered to sign whatever we had for him. The signature on the Duke’s yellow tie made it look like a work of art. I had my ticket signed for lack of anything more exciting. I did get a couple of really good close up photos of him with my little camera. He was so sweet to everybody and so handsome. I could barely take my eyes off him. After that he walked into the hotel presumably to shower and change. Tommy and the divas came out of the bus for pictures and were having a lot of fun posing. After virtually everyone else was gone, sparkle, cgesq, the duke, little duchess and I were hanging out on the street talking, realizing that the bus couldn’t leave without a certain member of the group. Then he came out of the hotel with 2 bodyguards wearing a baseball cap, the plaid shirt, shorts and his big boots. We kept a respectable distance since he had already done his fan thing. We just needed one more look at him. Sparkle and I were up until almost 2 AM. Too much adrenaline and endorphins were circulating to close our eyes!

So tomorrow the adventure continues in DC. One of the best things about this weekend has been meeting so many of you fellow posters on this blog. Everyone, without exception, has been so warm, interesting, and fun to be with. Sharing the experience with such wonderful, like minded people makes it so much better.

  48. ultimathule says:

Does anyone know if that Larry Flick program is available?

  49. riskylady says:

luval and rs, thanks. I hadn’t watched that longer video, and it does look like he was just ending the song – but I kind of think maybe he wasn’t happy with a sound person in that direction, because as you guys said a) Tommy’s solo couldn’t be heard well, and also b) Adam’s wail was sort of drowned out too. He made some gestures just before, and maybe was angry that they were not heeded. Maybe he had to be dealing with the theater or radio sound person…..
Overall, I thought the sound was wonderful – his voice was just flawless. I think he may expect certain adjustments at certain points in some songs, and doesn’t always get them.
Someone on one of the YouTubes commented that Michael Jackson used to direct stuff on stage similarly to Adam. LOL.

  50. dcglam says:

Thank you for the wonderful recap, mmm222. I am looking forward to meeting you tomorrow in DC!
