All 30 sec snippets sound great, esp. Love Dont, with mind-blowing guitar, and the very trippy On the Moon. It helps that I already know and love half of the songs, with Roses as my fave. #Velvet #AdamLambert

Hey celebs, we don’t want to be sung to. We want you to use a million or two of your money and order ventilators, masks, and gloves from the manufacturers then donate them to a hospital. Or pay for the salaries of an entire staff at a bar, restaurant, or daycare. #imagine
eta: Maybe someone could put together a We Are the World type of event. Somehow to give money to the millions of restaurant workers, singers, actors, etc. to help out if only a little.

Let’s review the best way to get Adam the best numbers. 1) Buy #Velvet on iTunes. For most of us it will “complete the album.” 2) Listen by streaming. Either make a playlist or just stream as the album. 3) View the video on YT but NOT as a playlist!

Disco Is Alive & We’re Here For It: Adam Lambert’s New Record Is Our Album Of The Week
https://themusic.com.au/news/adam-lambert-velvet-album-of-the-week/QUhZVVRXVlk/20-03-20/
Review translation:
MinutenMusik
Finally – it’s here now! After almost exactly six months, Adam Lambert hands over his final long player Velvet, which started in September with Velvet: Side A. Although … strictly speaking, the 38-year-old Indianapolis singer has been teasing his new work since February 2019. Ten of the total of 13 songs can already be heard. So there is not much to discover for real fans at the release.
But that’s the way it is in times of Spotify & Co KG. Ultimately, individual songs count, which at best become hits and not albums. It is all the better that all releases have finally come together on Velvet for the past year (with the exception of “Believe”, a cover of Cher’s famous title). Anyone who thinks according to the scheme “Many cooks spoil the broth” that after a year of releases, a coherent overall picture cannot come out, will quickly be taught otherwise.
Because as we had hoped and expected for the release of Velvet: Side A back in September (read our review HERE again), there is no doubt that Adam Lambert’s best album is on the shelf so far. Velvet is coherent in itself, delivers hits almost without exception and has savored and used every minute of time that has been needed since the predecessor “The Original High” (June 2015).
Somehow Adam had never really found himself. At the beginning there were still dozens of producers and composers in over-the-top teen pop rock, but then you bit your teeth on dance beats. Despite two medium-sized hits in the past decade (“Whataya Want From Me”, “Ghost Town”), success never really worked for the masses. Even as a current Queen interpreter, you were always considered a great singer without your own known output.
But now you end up where everything just fits: in funky pop with 70s vibes. The EP in November only reached position 148 (!) In the US charts, but should make the leap to the front rows in March 2020 with a full playlist. Back then we already liked five of the six EP tracks really well and have lost none of their quality. There is no consistent Velvet: Side B and the order of the six tracks has changed a bit, but it’s a free gift – after the last notes at least three quarters of the 13 songs ignite right away or at the latest when you listen to them again.
The composite singles and EP puzzle sounds harmoniously mixed. One element sneaks through the entire 45 minutes of music: sucking electric guitar hooks that are always present but never dominate Adam’s voice. Somewhere between light sound gimmicks, a driving bass and a lot of echo, the opener “Velvet” sets the pace and shows that in pop music there is currently no need to do without good melody lines with catchy tunes. Refrains that don’t just consist of a word or a punchline, but invite you to sing along. However, when singing along is often difficult, Mr. Lambert simply shows his incredible singing skills in the fullest way (“Loverboy”, Closer To You “). Bock makes the roar anyway.
Lovers of old school genres will have fun. A bit of Bee Gees – Saturday Night Fever feeling here, a few Michael Jackson– and Prince homages there. It doesn’t matter whether “Stranger You Are” with one of the strongest choruses that the American Idol runner-up has ever had, “Roses” and the ingenious cooperation with Nile Rodgers, which is not accidentally a bit like “Get Lucky” by Daft Punk feat . Pharrell Williams sounds or the somewhat futuristic “Love Dont” – highlights en masse, but failures are in vain. Only with “On The Moon” did the Laid-Back-Beat overdo it a bit and drag yourself a little too long through the four minutes. “Feel Something” as the ejector is the only number that has become a touch dramatic thanks to the gospel choir, but remains completely tolerable and pleasant to the extent.
Adam Lambert is pathos, but at the same time with so much coolness and talent that Velvet is already with great certainty one of the best pop albums of the year and at the same time an insider tip. A hit density that is rare. In addition, vocal acrobatics and a successful mixture of rock, funk and danceable rhythms. Play, listen and repeat!
And this is how it sounds: (Superpower video)

And here’s the translation of the Pulse24 interview from Germany. They take their music seriously!
Adam Lambert is in a good mood these days. The singer does not let the mood spoil from the coronavirus crisis. “It’s pretty tough, isn’t it?” Lambert says in a dpa conversation. He calls from Los Angeles. “I’m just glad that they do the necessary things to protect people. Security comes first.” Irrespective of this, the 38-year-old released his new album “Velvet”.
Lambert wants to go on tour with the extremely danceable material, followed by a concert tour with the rock veterans from Queen. It remains to be seen how much the coronavirus will affect Lambert’s plans for the coming months. In any case, he says about his various activities: “I am pleased that I can do both. The energy of Queen’s music is huge and very theatrical, it is really loud and big.” On “Velvet”, however, he takes it “a little more relaxed” and “a little gentler”.
The result is a versatile pop album on which the American once again impresses with his vocal range. The album should sound timeless but not outdated, says Lambert, who had released almost half of the songs on the EP “Velvet: Side A” months ago. As inspiration he names Motown-Soul, Funk, Classic Rock and artists like David Bowie, Prince, Sly Stone or chic legend Nile Rodgers (“Le Freak”), who also contributed to “Velvet”. “It’s like a collection of all my influences,” says Lambert and laughs. “Cooked together in a crazy soup.”
One of the outstanding songs is “Overglow”, which with its catchy chorus turns into a catchy tune. “Superpower” is rousing funk rock with a strong guitar finale. Strong rock or music for the dance floor? Lambert sees no contradiction. “I love both. I love rock music that has a groove that you can move to,” he says. “And that’s exactly how I find dance music best when it has guitars and real bass.”
With “Roses” you can immediately hear Nile Rodgers’ unmistakably groovy guitar sound. Lambert has worked several times in the past few years with the musician who was responsible for the success albums of stars like Bowie, Diana Ross, INXS and Duran Duran in the 1970s and 1980s. “He is a legend!”
Lambert, who he says is currently single, sings on “Velvet” about love, sex and self-confidence. “Is it love or are we just f *** ing”, he asks in “Roses” and also complains about superficial relationships in “Loverboy”. “Romance is such a thing these days,” he says. “For many people it doesn’t even exist. Others try to be romantic, but only work through a list.” Is he a romantic himself? “I am a romantic person,” affirmed Lambert. “But I am also a realist. I am a romantic who is 38 years old and has experienced a lot. Part of me is romantic, but I am also a bit dull.”
Since his breakthrough on the American casting show “American Idol”, his homosexuality has been an issue in the media. Lambert doesn’t mind – on the contrary. “When I sing about things like relationships, sex, love and all that stuff, it’s interesting to know I’m a gay man,” he says. “And as confident as I am about my sexuality in the spotlight, it may also help someone who feels they have to be strong.”
At the beginning of his career, the aspiring pop star was advised to “downplay” his homosexuality, as he says – “because it was uncomfortable for people or they didn’t consider it marketable”. Before his hit “Whataya Want From Me” written by Pink came out in 2009, the text was even changed – from “he messed me up” to “it messed me up”.
Today Lambert would not get involved in something like that. “Times have changed,” he says. “I think in the past you sometimes had to put on a good face to play bad so that you had a chance to get your music out. You had to endure it as a homosexual artist. But I’m glad that that’s no longer an issue today.”
Lambert is at peace with himself. “There are still things I want to improve on,” he says. “But I was never as clear about myself as I am today.” Also thanks to the appearances with Queen. “I really think that made me a stronger artist. It gives me confidence, on the one hand on stage and on the other because Queen has started a new chapter in my career. And I think that gives me credibility.”
Lambert never tried to copy the legendary Queen singer Freddie Mercury. Guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor would not have wanted that either. “They immediately made it clear that I should do my own thing,” he says. With his vocal volume and extravagant appearance, Lambert also convinced skeptics. “Velvet” has definitely become Lambert’s best album to date, which sounds modern and relevant despite classic elements. “I really love what I do,” says Lambert. You can hear that.
