Jlurk, thanks for posting the seat chart link. Given the mostly sold out status of all the front sections, I’m really quite amazed that so many of us were able to snag great seats at the presale. Not how it usually goes with ticketmaster! Really excited to see that many of us will have a great view of the show!

ulti, those memories never go away. They are part of his past and what makes him the person he is today. They come out and are related to at appropriate moments and then are put back in the drawers of his mind.

Just came in outdoors with my god daughter & her mom, my friend. Great walk on the sea ice, a lot of people there walking, skiing or other activities. It’s above freezing point, much warmer than past days. Best winter weather you can get. I hope riskies and aely are enjoying their stay today

I remember looking at Tommy a lot during the last week of GNT. I think he’s a sweetie and Tuke does those Tommy-cams or Tommy highlights. You could tell that he didn’t want that tour to be over.
The real shame of a short tour for him, is that he has been getting better and better with every concert and a longer tour would have pushed him even further. Just a couple of days ago Ron and I were talking about how much better he has become. A few more GNT-sized tours and he will be amazing.

Not going to get too worried about those tweets yesterday. I think rs’s idea is likely true. Adam is at the end of something and the focus is suddenly on what might have been done better. Difficult moment and he’s dealing with it. I love “the drawers of his mind” image.

I don’t know who @PopJustice is exactly but they are a blog or magazine from the UK and they do pay attention to Adam and have reviewed him positively in the past.

Bottomline, they liked Cuckoo but thought the song title sucked. IMHO, this would all have been nothing if Shoshanna hadn’t responded to them.
I can’t imagine what other title that song could have had. “Party til they take us away”? Too wordy. Maybe Cuckoo means something else in the UK. Yup…they do support Adam. And Adam seems to win all of their “favorite” contests.
Wish the tweets would have answered the age old question “who picked the first single?” Doesn’t matter anymore, though. It’s in the past, unless they can release Cuckoo now with proper promo. It’ll never happen. Movin’ on.
The Cuckoo thing doesn’t bother me as much as the “geek” comment. Feel like telling him – get real – that time is over – you should be “movin’ on” from that one.

Agree with a lot of Anonymous – but part of the problem is that these performances are, to some degree, part of Adam’s personality as well. He likes the “gay” aspect – may consider it a duty to his “tribe.” And then, of course, he’s much more limited in what he can get away with because of the AMA’s and being an “out” gay male.
But detested the Adommy crap with a passion. Sexy is great – but keep it subtle – with a wink and a smile.
And the backup singers DO overpower him sometimes – like in the above Chokehold. Maybe how it was recorded, but it happens too much.

This has to be one of the most ridiculous statements I have ever read! Honestly, we know that Adam looks at the vids, and there are other staff members around seeing the shows. They don’t think that he, Brian, and the others could see where things needed improving? How about getting better and learning from experience. With each show things tighten up and mistakes are corrected. The ONLY reason that the show improved was because of fan’s comments? Give me a break, and give some professionals some credit!
I happened to love the kisses in GNT. They had their place and made an important point. I imagine that it was the first time that a lot of concert attendees saw two men kissing (live), and lo and behold, it wasn’t disgusting! Adam has moved on from there. Tommy has been a true and faithful friend and band member, going along with whatever Adam needed from him (beginning with playing bass when he was first and foremost a guitarist). He has been given the opportunity to play lead guitar, and I for one, really enjoy his style of playing. I am not a musician, but I love his solos and his connection with Adam on stage is so real and warm. You can see how much they care about each other.
Sorry about the rant, but riskylady is otherwise engaged do I guess I am filling in for her.
The problem is that Adam, as he’s said, wants not to be a gay performer, but a performer who is gay. What that means with regard to his performances or to the general public is beyond my ken. He’s said you have to make “accommodations” in this biz – to what extent does that affect what he does onstage.
All I care about is his success – and, as he’s said he wants – play on radio – so he can tour.
TJ’s been a great supporter of Adam and Adam obviously appreciates that. But all that’s secondary for me. Want what Adam wants – and as he’s said – he wants MORE.
I think about that often…his statement “I want more”. And the one where he says his new motto “part of being in control of your life is knowing when to surrender”. Love that.

Have you seen how many profane songs go Platinum???? Adam’s are mild. Audiences have loved the dancers (all 2, as opposed to 4 before). Fans improved the band? Delusional. Adam just said in a twitter party that HE conceptualized the show. I just saw an epic concert Of HIS creation. I refuse to believe success can ONLY come from US sales. The world is a biiiggg place and it loves Adam. Tried to keep the snark level low, bad cold isn’t helping though.

So why was BTIKM not a hit?? And it seems to me the dancers were well received by concert-goers. I like them. I like to see Adam get a kick out of his friends. Are the back-up singers sometimes too loud? Absolutely. But that can be fixed. I think the concerts are/were not a problem at all, it’s radio that is the problem. What I admire about Adam is that he is who he is on and off stage even if there is a price to be paid because some people are just still too damn ignorant to get over the gay thing. It is maybe hurting his career, but this is how you move the ball forward.
The real tragedy would be if he gave up his convictions and played it straight, and ended up with less commercial success.
Adam wants success on U.S. radio. From his interviews, that is the most important thing for him. How does he achieve that?
Can he get away with profanity and sexual things the way straight performers can? Talking about the U.S. which is much less welcoming that overseas. Couldn’t release Fever as a single apparently because of the pronoun.
Guess it all comes down to Album #3 – be interesting to see if he has titles like those above. (Or will it be reviewed as another big gay album by the likes of that beeetch (EW?)).
May be wrong – but, from what he’s said, don’t think overseas success is enough for him.
luval, I haven’t received confirmation that the site was upgraded yet, I don’t think it has been. Really shouldn’t cause any problems when it does occur but I’ll still be glad when it’s done.
I do think Adam wants success in the U.S. to a greater extent than he has experienced so far. I think coming to the end of the WAG mini-tour with only a couple of one-off North American concert dates scheduled for the spring/summer is likely as much of a bummer for him as it is for us. It’s great that he is having success around the world including in some non-traditional spots for U.S. based pop stars/Idol alums, but there is no getting around the fact that the North American market represents a huge chunk of the potential worldwide revenue for musical artists.
As I have stated in the past, album #3 and particularly the lead single from that album are going to be crucial for Adam’s future, at least as far as getting that radio airplay. Likely that the promo budget for this album is going to be significantly less than it was for Trespassing, so radio airplay will be needed to drive/sustain sales. I don’t know what the answer is, certainly the endless radio station tour during the winter/spring of 2012 didn’t do BTIKM much good.
It must be very frustrating for Adam to see artists in the “popular kids” clique to throw crap single after crap single out there and get them immediately added to dozens of stations due to supposed “listener demand”. Meanwhile he works his ass off and doesn’t get rewarded.
All very frustrating. Trespassing’s reviews were about as good as we could have possibly hoped for (excluding that EW crap), but we saw that without a hit single or sustained airplay that week-over-week U.S. album sales just slid right down the ladder. It was out of the Billboard 200 by late July. While the Glamberts were able to drive the album to a #1 debut, there just aren’t enough of us to sustain big sales numbers for weeks and months on end.
To be clear, I think Adam will have a solid career making music and touring as long as he wants to. His international popularity and reputation for excellent live performances will ensure that. I just think he wants to reach the A-list level of multiple top 10 singles, platinum albums, and Grammys. God knows he deserves that with his talent and all of his hard work. Hope Adam and his team can find some way to make it happen.

eta: My friend the drummer, who I speak about often here, sent me an e-mail which said ” I’ve been hearing Adam on the radio pretty regularly, when I flip through channels…there he is…familiar tunes, the regular hits.” I have no idea what radio he is talking about. Will see him in a couple of weeks. Maybe just said that to make me feel better.

Shoshanna must have a good relationship with the popjustice guy, don’t know if they are friends or just friendly, but they tweet regularly with each other. I thought his comment about the song title was dumb, but not offensive. I think he likes Adam.
Maybe Adam is now feeling the end of the Trespassing era, which shouldn’t have come so soon.
