nkd– Your videos were excellent! Great sound and a steady hand…very impressive!
nkd’s videos are even more special for me since I was standing next to her and that was my view of the stage. A Maryland Glambert who adamized and I often see en route to concerts went to the W-B concert but was unable to go on to Worcester. She gave nkd and me her 4th row tickets for the Worcester show. We had a great view of the stage as you can see from the videos. I also got a few very nice still photos with my good camera.
I’ll post some more comments about the W-B and Worcester shows tomorrow. I had to deal with too many intrusions from RL today.
Here are the rest of my assorted comments and impressions from the Wilkes-Barre and Worcester shows.
Adam clearly loves the intimacy of the smaller venues. The Kirby Theater in Wilkes-Barre was built in 1937 and has about 2000 seats. He called Wilkes-Barre a “Glambert mecca”, and was very happy and chatty among his devoted fans, dancing and gyrating all over the stage. The audience was wild and his hip thrusts, plaid pants and soaring vocals made us all even crazier. The acoustics were very good which was a welcome change after the audio mess at the Fallfest show in NYC. Rachel Platten was an opening act at Fallfest and W-B. I was much more impressed with her at W-B, probably because the sound was so much better. JoJo of JoJo and Max has a really lovely voice. Echosmith was just mediocre.
Mechanics Hall in Worcester is a gorgeous renovated theater with 1600 seats built in 1857. It is renowned for its excellent acoustics. The three opening acts all sounded great, so I knew we were in for a real treat with Adam. The audience was an interesting mix of locals who were regular patrons of Mechanics Hall and Adam fans. The first opening act was the best. He was a very personable young man named Connell Cruise from South Africa. He was adorable and had a very nice voice. The audience was all revved up for Adam and gave Connell lots of love and cheers. The next two acts were good, also doing acoustic sets, but didn’t get as much love as Connell. Then came Adam…he walked onto that stage and took my breath away. Luval told me that the people around her gasped when they saw him because he looked so incredibly handsome. The crowd was on their feet and going wild. Adam seemed pleasantly surprised at all the enthusiasm in a small theater in a New England town. But there were plenty of Glamberts in the audience, so what did he expect? He put on one heck of a show, very energetic with gorgeous vocals, enhanced by the perfect acoustics in the hall. He was also very sweet and intimate with the audience. His grandmother story was funny and such a treat. I was struck at this show with how thrilled I get seeing him perform every single time. No matter how frequently I see him. I always want more.
And last of all, a few comments on the band. They’re just right. They do such a perfect job providing the instrumental back up for Adam that you’re not really aware of them. Terrance and Dani are also doing an excellent job as back up singers. They harmonize well with Adam but stay in the background vocally, as they should. Finally, they got Adam’s supporting players right!
Thanks for the great recap mmm222. ITA with your comments about the supporting players. Hopefully they will stay in the background but knowing Adam he will definitely start schmoozing with them during the show and soon they will be more visible. Adam loves interaction with his fans and his band mates.
