Warsaw recap:
What a way to end our four concert/sightseeing tour in Europe! Warsaw was beautiful and a welcome change after the dreary rain and cold in Copenhagen. It was sunny and warm with flowers, flowering trees and greenery everywhere. We stayed in the historic area at the edge of Old Town. This entire area was destroyed in WWII. It was painstakingly restored after the war to look exactly as it had before. The results are remarkable. It looks just as authentic as the historic district in Krakow which suffered no war damage. We spent four days in Warsaw and had plenty of time to enjoy the parks, palaces, museums, shops and restaurants that our “local tour guide”, agathe.h-b recommended. There was also a concert that we attended…
The concert was at the Torwar Arena which has a capacity of 8000. The arena was completely full. The tickets were sold as GA seated or GA standing. Our group of seven (riskylady, riskyhubby, rs, adamized, agathe.h-b, her daughter and me) got seated tickets and later upgraded to VIP early admission tickets when those became available. Since virtually everyone else who bought VIP tickets was standing, we got our choice of any seat in the arena. We sat in the second row in the second section from the end on the far right side and had a perfect view of the stage and also the crowd. The crowd was definitely mixed with people of all ages including plenty of children. The crowd on the floor right in front of the stage was younger and was wild with joy. I did not see anything negative going on. With all those people dancing and and waving their arms around in close quarters, it’s not surprising that that there were some accidental injuries. There was enough room on the sides and in the back half of the floor for anyone who wanted more space.
Also, of note…rs started talking to a lovely Japanese lady who was standing behind her in the VIP line. It turned out that she was “riddle601b”. She had just arrived from Japan and was planning to stand in the GA section in front of the stage to video the concert. We told her how much we love her videos. She really has some of the best Adam concert videos out there.
The concert started with a DJ, as did the Helsinki concert. I really don’t get the point of the DJ craze, but it did get the crowd going. One word about the Polish concert crowds, after seeing the the QAL show in Krakow and this show in Warsaw, I must say that they really are the best. They’re fun, enthusiastic and joyful. Every time Adam even walked to the right side of the stage he was met with cheers. Adam and the band picked up on all the love they were getting from the audience right away and responded in kind.
The show was spectacular! Adam gave it his very best. Rs was sitting next to me and we kept looking at each other wide eyed with astonishment at the end of the songs. He kept adding exquisite embellishments on top of perfect vocals. The acoustics were great too. It was pure heaven! He seemed so happy. It’s hard to pick out highlights from this show, but “Let’s Dance” was exceptionally good. Also, the “Lay Me Down” medley with that ultra hot “Fever” at the end was great. But really, the entire show was fabulous and the perfect way to end our European TOH adventure.
