The mia177mia STL video is to die for. His face after the glory note “somebody toooooooooo”, and the way he arranges the fringe so he can transition into the next pose. Unbelievable awesomeness. During the whole song he is just so confident that he can nail those notes and then some.
Added some vids up top – Intro, KQ, Bo Rhap, more to come later today…
I got home at 1:00am, and it’s almost 2:00am, so I will briefly say that this was one of the most incredible weekends that I’ve ever had in my life. No exaggeration!
TLKC, rs, mils, Cher and Northern Spirit had Floor level seats in the 7th row.
HAD …
Security staff let them stand at the circle that’s at the end of the thrust. Many times, Adam was about 8 feet away from them. They.were.right.there.
I really do have to go to bed now. I feel so happily exhilarated but, at the same time, very, very tired.
More to come.
ETA: I posted this on the July thread and am bringing it over here. I said I was going to bed but I’m still too keyed up to want to close my eyes … but I HAVE to!
Nicky! It was great to see you again too! Your video of “Somebody To Love” is wonderful as are all of your videos!
THAT NOTE!! It was truly incredible!
Yes turquoisewaters not only is it his amazing performance but it’s also his obvious, incredible confidence that he can absolutely slay that song and take us church with it, that makes my heart burst with awe, admiration, and happiness for him.
Ron! You survived! Thanks for checking in! Sooo happy for TLKC, rs, cher, mils, and Northern Spirit that they got to be Right. There!
Can’t wait for recaps!
Hi everyone! Am exhausted but exhilarated! Been a crazy week from Vegas then back to work then to Toronto and all the partying we’ve been doing together! Life doesn’t get much better than meeting and flailing with my glamily as well as with my family here! It truly is a glamily, more like family than friendships. So amazing how we all get along so well and are so happy to see and hang with each other. Believe me I have friends and family that I like to see very little of.
Well, first off, I finally met Mils and Sparkle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!! Took long enough but so worth it.
There are no words to describe the concert last night. This is my 4th and they just keep getting better and more comfortable together. Adam’s confidence is soaring higher and higher and he’s loosened up and is the true frontman now. Brian and Roger and the band are all so happy and they are getting fabulous receptions at the venues and it’s so wonderful to see this. Brian’s solo was longer than normal and he killed it and Roger was exceptionally good on his drum solo as well.
What can I say about that Somebody to Love? Jaws were dropped all around me. I don’t think words can describe it. Thank goodness for vids. The security guys were being mean to some
people but not to most. There was a girl behind me trying to ustream/vid with a camera on her head but she was quickly stopped. Actually they went to her 2 or 3 times when she kept trying anyway. Then there were many other people videoing and they didn’t say anything to them. Weird.
I’ll leave mils, tlkc, northernspirit and rs to post their own stories but just a hint… they were puddles of goo after the concert. At the very beginning before the concert started I turned around and asked Mils if she could try to behave and she quickly replied “Absolutely not!” Needless to say, she did not.
The only thing in my opinion that Adam could improve on is his concert banter. Just a little more audience interaction and chat. (theduke suggested the same thing) The crowd loved the show. I’ll tell more later today. It was a stellar concert!
eta: Just saw Ron’s post. I was sitting in 6th row in front of mils, rs, northernspirit and tlkc. I didn’t go over to the thrust area at all. I had two friends with me, one a lurker here and was happy where I was sitting.
Woohoo thanks for the great recap cher and Nicky, thanks for the wonderful vid of STL! I just cannot get enough of that performance – it is exhilarating!
Congrats on Germany’s World Cup win Turquoisewaters! I guess hubby wasn’t too happy huh?

On my way to the airport, so I have no time to recap, I just have to say that the concert was beyond fabulous and sharing it with so many friends made it a million times better. Will probably recap the whole trip when I get home, but have to say that mils Was in a trance the whole concert. She could have been at a revival meeting, lol! Loved it
review, very positive for Adam

great pics from michigan, have seen some, not sure if we’ve seen them all.

Cher:
Congrats to your awesome concert experience, Toronto.
Has the Toronto sun review been posted yet…. another good one.
Haven’t read all the comments yet, hopefully they’ll be better than the ‘preview’ one….certainly some are, including this one
My mind was literally blown. What a show! As for Lambert, I expected a disaster, but he did quite a better job than that. Good choice.
I too wanted for months to see Marc Martel instead of Lambert, and now that I’ve seen both I see why Lambert was chosen. He may sound a bit different, but he has better command of his voice, and he acts (more) like Freddie, with all of his flamboyant moves and capricious star power. So much confidence on stage… and certainly better crowd handling than Martel.
The boys from Queen know what they’re doing. As an EXTREME skeptic of Lambert I can tell you he did not only do justice to the songs, a couple he actually blew out of the park.

eta…same comment section as before, but with a few new ones.
pretty negative review…
http://www.thestar.com/entertainment/music/2014/07/14/adam_lambert_outperformed_by_late_freddie_mercury_in_queen_concert_review.html
gah, he can’t win…didn’t one negative reviewer said he was trying too hard to be like Elvis!!!!
I don’t understand why they haven’t done even one radio interview, or tv interview during the tour…..I know they don’t have much time, especially when they’re only in place for 1 day, but still….not even a mention on E news about how amazing it is!
concert review from a ‘Beatles fan)….warning, colourful language ahead

Too many flowers…I’m off to bed. Night ALL…
I love flowers! G’nite HK fan! Thanks for posting those review links.
I added some videos above and will be back later to add more.
“As for Lambert, this should do nothing but solidify him as one of the best pure vocalists in the world. With Queen he’s not only found his way through the rock vocal gauntlet, he’s kicked it in the teeth and giggled.”
Fav line of any review so far –
Well, aren’t the reviews interesting! Just goes to show how strong the reviewer’s bias is. In one, the reviewer complains about the dull slow start, and then in the Globe review, the dude says “The first four songs hit hard and relentlessly.” Go figure!
Thanks for putting up the pic of mils earrings AL. I can never give you enough flowers….
Loved the Toronto Sun review. Also the Beatle fan’s review is a riot. He has a bit of “Chunkey Monkey” in him. Did you see the button that asked you to “Donate, Why?” In brackets it said “Help a Beatlemaniac?”
As a Glambert, I totally get him. LOL!
Recommend reading the tepid Globe and Mail review AFTER you read The Star’s critique. It doesn’t sound as bad. In fact, it almost sounds good.
Ron will tell you that I was expecting this. Some of our city critics just drip with disdain. The most interesting and weird comment is the one describing long guitar and drum solos as passé. (It is a musical version of saying the War and Peace is too long – a self-respecting literary critic might think it but would never openly admit to feeling that way.)
NVM – IT WAS AN AWESOME NIGHT, not least because we were almost all on the floor and got to talk together and meet-up with many Glamberts in the hour before the show started.
As Ron has mentioned, mils, rs, Northern Spirit and I managed to stand at the floor left barrier near the end of the thrust, which provided a close-quarters experience of toute-le-band whenever they travelled down that magnificent ramp.
Throughout the concert we kept hugging ourselves and each other at our tremendous good luck, all of which happened because mils bonded with the ACC staffer at our gate. The staff were amazing. One of them told us that he was a Queen fan and had gone into the concert sceptical. “But”, he said, “I stand corrected.”
The staffers LOVED the concert. At one point two of them linked arms with a guy in the 7th row and danced along to CLTGL and rs took a photo of them. They said they couldn’t wait until the July 28th concert. One of them even asked where we would be sitting.

I am listening to Jian Gomeschi’s interview of Adam. I am listening to it because a very rude US Glambert claimed that a couple of homophobic commenters disproved Adam’s view that Canada was a tolerant country. Someone quoted the Jian Gomeschi interview to her and she claimed that Jian had expressed disbelief at Adam’s complmentary view of Canada (ergo Jian had a somewhat dyspeptic view of Canada himself.)
When I suggested she might have misinterpreted his disbelief, she told me to listen to the interview.
It turns out that Jian originally thought Adam meant Canadians were distant to each other, at which point Adam clarified.
I am not reading any more reviews or comments. What happens in the arena beats the heck out of anything that is said after. A concert is worth a million words.
On the bright side, that Jian interview is terrific and it was nice to hear it again.
End of STL – Check out Brian’s expression
http://youtu.be/Te0x1FeHGIY?list=PL6Yx9dcZ36qqBXZgQodbfRo_BuML3tJJg
That was so great, AL – love watching Brian having fun.
In The Lap of The Gods with “Q” coming down. Is that new?
http://youtu.be/yihur4wX3-4
AL The Q coming down is not new. Although why they do it mystifies me. It doesn’t really add anything to the show – it just comes down and then back up.
TLKC Did you just listen to the Q interview, or watch it? Because if you watch it, there’s Adam with a big red Q shining behind his head! Reminds of something …
Thanks Calgary! I guess I should watch all the videos completely. I have my favorites but I skip through others just so I get the code to embed and then move on.
TLKC –
I agree! It is hard to believe some of those reviewer were at the concert. Or even standing outside as the arena emptied out. If they were, they would have seen in the range of 18,000 to 20,000 screaming people dancing, cheering, screaming and hugging their seat neighbors, who were no longer strangers. At the venues that I attended I specifically watch the hordes of people as they spilled out of the venues like sardines and didn’t see a grump, unhappy face amount them (well, maybe with the exception of my D.H. who was dreading the drive home, but he loved the concert)
And then some no talent “critic” pans the show which really is a put down to all of those payed dearly for their tickets and that love the heck out of it!
Sorry about the B-Quote fail. I really did put one before and one after?????
Like complimenting a reviewer for a reasonable review – sent email to one and got the nicest reply back. Think that’s important.

New thread for tonight’s concert in Montreal is up.
http://www.adamlambertlive.org/2014/live-queen-adam-lambert-montreal-qc-71414
That’s 3 concerts in 3 nights – the only time that they do that on the North American leg of their world tour.
retjenny: That deserved to be in bold. Well said.
Boy, haven’t had a chance to see many videos from last night yet. My energy is fading fast and I still need to round things up for NYC, leaving Wednesday LOL
It was so fantastic to see everyone again. Thanks to everyone for showing up at our humble, mini suite before and after the concert yesterday. Cher is right in saying that we really do have a wonderful glamily here. I just love you guys
rs, TLKC, and Mils, Ron and Cher have already recapped a bit of what our experience was last night. Thanks goes to Mils for getting crucial information out of one ACC’s staff members, which saw us quickly slide over to the side of the thrust as soon as the concert started. This same staff member was so kind to come over to me midway through the show to ask if I wanted my water bottle. How sweet is that?!?
What can I say about this fantastic concert that hasn’t been said already. To see it from our vantage point was beyond my wildest dreams. Before the concert, I had really wished I had boughten tickets around the thrust area, so ending up there last night was beyond fabulous. Adam was fantastic, Brian and Roger, too. I just love the rapport they have with each other. They, too, are family now.
Toronto audiences can be a bit reserved, and they lived up to their reputation last night. Riskylady said, though, that yes they were all sitting down in her area, but everyone, literally everyone, was singing along to all the songs.
We ran into a young Queen fan in the hotel lobby this morning and he was still on Cloud nine. He went with an open mind regarding Adam and he was blown away. He said Adam was dead on. Fabulous. I love hearing stories like this.
…more later
WOW, eagle eyes, Calgary! Do you think that Jian’s choice of Q TV as a name for his show includes a subtle reference to his favourite band?
We will have to ask him to change the show to Q + A.
Nice revisiting such a respectful encounter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAyp7RKozdA
Also agree with turquoisewaters that retjenny’s post merits bold type.
Review from an appreciative fan:
http://movernie.wordpress.com/2014/07/14/adam-lambert-queen-concert-toronto/
Have been reading the comments on those negative reviews….99% disagree with the reviewers, all are very well written, not over the top bs…and many are from Queen fans.
The line in the last review about Adams loose pop voice compared to Freddies controlled voice!!!!!!
I was born in a trunk at the Princess Theatre, in Pocatello, Idaho
The birth of this great adventure and wonderful experience started on July 10th with the arrival of TLKC and rs at the Pogue Mahone restaurant. There are two entrances. The very moment that TLKC and rs were entering through the front door, I was walking through the side door and we saw each other immediately. How did we do that? Perfect timing for what was the start of a perfect evening together. This was my second time seeing dear rs. We both reacted the same way when we saw each other. Huge smiles and with arms up over our heads, slowly moving down as we approached one another to be able to give ourselves a big, big hug and hold and rock back and forth. It was wonderful to have rs in my arms again!
For me, this perfect timing meeting set the tone for the next few days that followed.
Thank you again TLKC and rs for making our anniversary dinner so special. Gil and I talk all the time. But, after 37 years, if we go out to eat, we’re all talked out by the time we get to the restaurant. Gil will sit there staring off looking at nothing while I’m picking at my napkin wondering where’s the food?
It was great to be in such wonderful company ladies!
The next night, Friday, there was a possibility of TLKC and I getting together with little duchess and the Duke, (whom I haven’t seen for 3 years!) but unfortunately we weren’t able to do that. Oh, you two!! little duchess and the Duke! You are such a delightful, delightful couple! I SO enjoyed the time that we did get to spend together over the weekend. little duchess, you’re so friendly and warm and enthusiastic that it’s contagious! You make everyone around you feel good! The Duke? I don’t say things that I don’t mean. You’re one of the nicest guys that I’ve ever met. Sincerely.
Saturday!!! The day is here! The day, when I bought my ticket for the concert that was 120 days in the future, is finally here!!! We’re all going to be together this evening!!! I’m very excited but then I’m suddenly very nervous. My thoughts went to HK fan who once posted that she was nervous in London meeting Aller’s during Hammersmith. I couldn’t put my finger on it. Why was I suddenly nervous? I didn’t feel this way in Ste-Agathe. Then I was happy and couldn’t wait to meet everyone. What was different now? For reasons that I still don’t know why, I had to narrow it down to my meeting Sparkle and mils for the first time and thinking that maybe they would be disappointed when we met and that they wouldn’t like me. I had to snap out of that mind frame REAL FAST and … I did.
It’s time to go the restaurant, The Hot House Cafe. I prayed that it wasn’t going to be a hot a.n.y.t.h.i.n.g because I was wearing a short sleeved pull-over shirt but it’s velvet. I don’t recommend wearing anything that’s velvet during Summer time. On top of that, I had on my white zoot suit. With 88% humidity added to 88F/29C temperature, I expected to melt into a puddle the instant I stepped outside my apartment building. I didn’t. Actually, it was very pleasant, comfortable … it was hot, but certainly not unbearable.
I got a cab within 10 seconds – air conditioned – and it was on to the Hot House Restaurant to have, what turned out to be, one of the happiest memories that will stay with me forever.
Wait till I tell you about what I had for dinner.
I haven’t gotten to the pre-party on Sunday or the CONCERT yet.
Soooooo …
To be continued.
ETA: Laughing to myself, just thought of this. I began my post with the “Born In A Trunk” reference that begins a sequence of songs in Judy Garland’s movie “A Star Is Born”. I once saw an ad for this movie in TV Guide that had a bit of a typo.
What a difference one letter makes because it read:
Judy Garland shines in “A Star Is Born”. Includes the classic “Born In A Truck”.
Jian’s two interviews were really terrific, TLKC – saved both of them. Love Jian’s voice and looks – interesting, sexy guy.
