Queen + Adam play their second show at the SummerSonic 2014 event in Japan. Tonight’s show takes place on the Marine Stage in Tokyo, and is scheduled to begin around 730 PM Sunday evening local time (630 AM Sunday morning EDT). The show is expected to last around 90 minutes, with a somewhat shortened set list compared to the North American concerts.

Like those es2012v videos, asif – can see all three screens, plus what’s happening on the stage – miss so much of what Adam’s doing unless you get that view as well – such as the end of CLTCL when he twirls and flops on the floor with legs raised – just so great.
I looked up the stadium, Wiki says it is Chiba Marine Stadium, actually across the water from Tokyo. The stadium holds 30,000. Baseball and rugby held there, and Madonna opened it in 1990 with her Blonde Ambition Tour.

It’s 3:19am right now in Tokyo. Are they home from the club yet?
If you look at the actual timetable/schedule for Osaka and Tokyo, Queen is scheduled for a 90-minute concert, from 7:30 to 9 pm, so they obviously had to reduce numbers from the set list. I’m thinking they tried to choose what they thought most appealed to their audiences, based on prior shows in Japan and maybe crowd reaction from Osaka too. After all, they are in front of the crowd and get a more accurate reading than we do from videos.
Maybe SummerSonic did not want to pay the price of two 2 hr 20 min concerts. Or maybe Queen didn’t want to stretch themselves so hard while still jet-lagged. But seems the audiences were plenty pleased, judging from tweets, instagrams and actual reactions. So happy for Adam to have these opportunities!! And that we get to see him from the other side of the planet.
Btw, they did stadiums in Moscow and Poland in 2012, but this stadium seems bigger!
Poor Brian, he powered through with very little rest from last night. Remember, they took the bullet train from Osaka. And he already looked tired to me in the Osaka airport, and a little distressed at so many fans albeit loving ones. Thank goodness the Australia/NZ leg isn’t quite as strenuous.
Thinking they will want a nice rest before anything else – but not so long they get out of shape. Big ?? as to what/when/where, plus Adam seems to want some album time.
(I don’t like that people are hounding him about that, though.)
ETA: Moscow/Poland stadiums were bigger I think as far as seating. But that number for Chiba could be for seated people at a sports event, not including those filling up the field…
I noticed on twitter that seems to be the thing some people are focused on. Don’t like that either.
I was a bit worried about Brian last night. Never have seen him so tired looking. But felt better after I saw his tweet after the show. (been posted already)

It is always annoying when people try and tell Adam what he should be doing, wearing, the type of music he should be singing, shaving, tatting, acting, going out and partying, working on his album, etc. But I don’t worry about it. We all know that in the end it is futile and he will do exactly what his heart tells him to do, maybe with the advice of some very close and loyal friends and family. According to his latest tweets, he loves what he is doing now, and he also wants to get back into the studio. HE WANTS IT ALL!

luval the minute I saw your post I took myself off to bed so I wouldn’t get a lecture. RS asked me by email right afterwards if I was staying up for the livestream and I said no, I was “very tired”.
Never paid too much attention to CLTCL. Just watched vanglam76’s video and tried to pay attention because of what asif mentioned. Didn’t notice the turn around but boy was he Elvis incarnated with his voice! Lower register like he always does. When he says “crazy little thang…” sheesh he sounds like Elvis. He took one of Rufus’s drumsticks and “played” the triangle. Out of sync that I could tell. lol!!. Then down on the floor with his legs up in the air at the end. We have to get a better video of this.

Luval, that’s a baseball stadium, holds almost 31,000 normally but probably lots more attended since people don’t usually stand in the middle during games. I’ll ask bani to confirm. She’s my go-to Japanese source.

Can’t leave … so I’m pulling a kradamour.
About IWBTLY, the first time I heard it I wasn’t sure what I thought. I didn’t know the song from before and it sounded so different from any of the other Queen songs I have grown to know and love. But then I couldn’t stop listening and watching the vid from Korea and later the ones from the Japanese shows. It has wormed its way into my heart, to a great extent because of the sheer joy that I feel emanates from Adam as he sings it. He is really feeling it and really means every word. And as someone suggested before, he seems to be singing to us! Just after Brian asked what we ( I count myself as one of the audience
) thought of the New Man (and something that I couldn’t catch), he asked if we were having fun, then he said “I love you so much.” Then he began to sing the song. If that wasn’t directed to us, I don’t know what is. He is doing what he was born to do and he loves us for supporting him and helping him get there. So the song makes me happy and I love it!
