After a well received first show, Queen and Adam play the second of two back-to-back shows at the Allphones Arena in Sydney. Apparently Lady Gaga is attending, and may be performing as well.

Enjoy the concert and the chat!

No fan wars here Reese….I think we’re all with glambotgram, in that on here we can say if we dislike something and why, but we wouldn’t go to a Gaga (or Fun) fansite and start spewing hatred on there.
I don’t dislike Gaga, have many of her songs on my ipod, think she’s done some great stuff…..this duet wasn’t one of them though.
I just hate all that press and kudos she’s getting for a very mediocre performance, while Adam who has performed amazingly every night isn’t getting any…..

  3. HK fan says:

The comments on that RS article……funny, my first thought as soon as I saw the original clip yesterday was that she looked just like Tina Turner….

Thank you so much, smalls – the information you supply is invaluable as it’s right to the point and explains just what is happening to Adam’s voice. So happy you’re here.

Adam looks tired – well might he be trying to sing for two –

At least she didn’t pop up on stage at the finale, luval

Even though we know the finale, for a second I thought she was going to jump up there. Smile

  11. milwlovesadam says:

I don’t even know what to say, but, I have always loved me some Gaga.

I loved how she supported him with Fever.
I loved how she supported him after the AMA’s.
I understood how he was spurred on by her performance and did what he did. ( Well and the OUT thing too).
I regretted the drunk incident with him and the ceiling fiasco making news.

I just could not believe the train wreck this was.

She was simply awful, couldn’t keep up, lyric fails, meaningless “wooohoo’s”, off key, just a hot mess.

And, poor Adam, valiantly trying to be a rock god, and support her.

And, it does appear to my ears, that he is a little under the weather.

I remember after he was on Idol, he talked about how being in theater trained him how to sing through a cold. I do think he has a bit of one right now. He seemed a little winded at times, and couldn’t hold out his glory note in STL for more than 4 seconds.

But, I do believe he put on a helluva show, and these small points are only heard by us rabid fans.

smalls, I just love your vocal knowledge, it helps so much.

Now, I’m going to rest my stuffy head, and get ready to work tomorrow. It doesn’t work in my profession to not have a voice either!!

  12. ultimathule says:

Wouldn’t be surprised if he had spent time trying to get her up to speed, either. That might have been tiring as well.

  13. adamized says:

Well at this point I feel like it isn’t a bad thing that Gaga joined the boys for one song. Too bad it was Adam’s favorite but I have to admit if she had slam dunked it our boy wouldn’t be getting credit for having the range to handle these difficult songs. Wider publicity for the Queenbert venture is not a bad thing especially when it was so under publicized during the NA tour.

And if it made Adam happy…then I’m happy. I have to admit I can’t make myself listen to more than a minute of the performance before it becomes too painful. First time I have ever had that problem with anything involving Adam except maybe the AMA’s.

Keeping my fingers crossed that our BB is not sick and just needs a bit of time to rest his voice.

    LOLOL Look at our guy:

“Oh, so that’s what lady nips look like?”

Seriously, is nobody talking about her nip slip?

  19. eywflyer says:

Starting to post videos. Added some of the articles as well – many of them basically say the same thing so just put a selection up top.

Missing just a few videos now from the first Sydney show.

Thanks to AL for taking care of the issues earlier with a couple of the comments.

  20. ultimathule says:

Well, the nips have been hard to avoid pretty much since like forever with GG, mils – so guess hard to get excited about another obviously manipulated display in today’s culture.

  21. asmallworld says:

ulti… Happy to be here and I’m so glad you’re here, too. ALL wouldn’t be as wonderful and we wouldn’t be nearly as informed if it weren’t for you.
You do so much for us. Kiss

I did want to add to my earlier post something important to note, imho……

He chose no cop out …. stayed true to his standard of excellence, stood his vocal ground, kicked bootay like a real rock star, and delivered big to save the farm (after Gaga). He also gave his audience exactly what they’d come to hear (and what they paid for with those highly sought-after tickets!) – exceeding expectations as always.

And from what I can tell, Adam does all this primarily with this warm teas, lemon, honey, soft rehearsal warmups & sleep.

Our Guy inspires me in this regard. He gives everything he has – whatever it takes – and does not compromise his virtues to deliver excellence. Simply astonishing that he is gifted and talented enough to pull it off… and make it look effortless.

He has kahunas of GRIT! Grin

  22. Kradamour says:

I love GaGa and love that she came back to the mother ship, or however she put it, the source of her name.
I love how much Adam loved performing with her.
I love Fever and how supportive she was of Adam in his beginnings.
I love how much Dr. Bri obviously loves her.
I love that 30 million little monsters have been told by their mother monster that Adam is worth a look.
I love how she reminds me of Freddie in her ‘loose cannon’ way.
And I love that her ‘intrusion/inclusion’ (depending on your point of view) has brought U.S. attention to the oddly below the radar QAL tour.
I even love that none of the press is wasting their time and ours by pointing out the irrelevant fact that GG has put on more than a few pounds. (I was dreading that.)
For all that she can be a train wreck, no one seriously debates that GaGa is talented and has a LOT of star power.
I see no down side to having her on stage with Adam.

Hi everyone! Not caught up at all – just read the posts on this page and the video of AOBTD with GaGa. Train wreck of a performance aside, ITA with sistakrads. It’s all good for Q&A. If this attention is what it takes to do an “encore” tour in the U.S., bring it on!!

  24. sparkle says:

Happy belated birthday, dear adamized! Hope it was as wonderful as you are!

  28. asmallworld says:

    On further thought about this AM’s concert & it’s “surprise” . . .

Along with that Grit Adam possesses is an inordinate amount of grace and generosity in his spirit.
It’s probable, as Kradamour has pointed to, that he’s being loyal to Gaga when her chips are down, and is believing in her the way she believed in him during his times under intense criticism.

He likely knows more than most as to why Gaga doesn’t seem to be at her best right now. Maybe she’s going through tons of stuff… and instead of shying away from her.. he’s happily & enthusiastically using HIS shining moments – HIS platform of success… to promote her and build her up.
    That’s character!

The way he has handled Gaga only reveals it the more: If anyone would know… It’s Adam that knows Gaga’s performance wasn’t musically sound… and not even close to the sensational experience QAL has been consistently delivering concert after concert.

… And yet, he has lavished honor upon her, promoted her and cheered her on like this was one of her finest moments.
To me, he seemed as excited for her time under the enormous warmth of Aussie fans as his own.

I don’t think Gaga’s appearance had anything to do with an effort for dazzling musical display or expert concert strategy (the unwise song choice alone reveals this)… I think there was a whole other realm of reasons why going on that we aren’t privy to ….

But the same result comes through like always: Adam essence shines even brighter.

Earlier today I was miffed about Gaga interposing a favorite QAL moment – especially one I like – AOBTD. I felt the fans weren’t getting their due… Adam’s favorite song “ruined”… yada, yada.

Well… true or not, those things don’t matter in the bigger picture, imo…. (Adam is a big boy and he certainly doesn’t look or act victimized. In fact, the opposite)…
Because one thing proves truer here: Some reasons are just more important than my selfish reasons, marquis concerts, and even Adam’s untainted shining moments…

I think Gaga is facing some tough & darker moments recently.
And Adam’s character & Queen’s generosity shining some brightness into her spirit just may be the most sensational act on display from Sidney #2.

Perceptive comments, smalls – GG’s concert review was not good and, apparently, not sold out. And her album’s lack of big-time success must have been a disappointment – and she did have medical problems that lingered.

So with Brian and Adam it’s likely she feels loved, admired, and protected. If that’s what these two fine men are doing – admirable indeed.

  32. Calgary says:

smalls I must be missing something here, ’cause I don’t understand what you mean:

Even though Adam apparently did opt for the more weighty method during break to get the chords back to function (he hadn’t much choice – they were audibly inflamed – swelling & tightening quickly)…

You referred to it earlier too – what did he do?

  33. ultimathule says:

Adam’s mentioned Throat Coat – or perhaps a numbing spray of some kind. smalls will know, I’m sure.

I didn’t meant to sound confusing, sorry!

mils brought up a good point about Adam’s learned expertise for singing through colds, etc in theater years. That has probably gone a ways in all this, too.

ulti, good point. And throat coat helps well in certain circumstances – kind of the way Preparation H would help… well… you know. lol

Wow – that scared the sheeet out of me, smalls – have to mull that over for a while and do more research. Thanks for the links – will check them all out.

Still wondering whether LG’s presence and extra rehearsals had anything to do with it. If so, . . . .

Most of the time stuff happens commonly within the industry and we don’t know a thing about it and the incomparable artists like Adam stay incomparable and amazing without skipping a beat.

That’s where we are and all is good. Big Smile Yes

As for the extra rehearsals, etc… I think it’s possible, too ulti. Especially if he’s fighting a cold or has sleep dep.

Regardless, he is in awesome shape… is young… kind of a freak of nature in the best of ways in terms of gifted vocal prowess and he utilizes methods that help him … and he is technically trained and experienced since childhood. He knows exactly what he’s doing & his advantages are huge & star studded. No worries! Grin

  49. riskylady says:

Sorry, I am skeptical by nature, smalls, so I just have to mention that it seems we’ve been getting lower than usual quality sounding vids from these last 3 concerts, some even with static. So I have to ask, based on this, are you actually diagnosing Adam with this condition?

I was so excited though, when he came through on his signature high note on WWTLF in Sydney #2.(as with the 2:39 in Perth)….. Especially as his voice wouldn’t allow him to do this with WWTLF in Sydney #1.

Adam experienced something that rarely ever happens to him in a performance – a belting transition strain and then an actual break in his head voice register. (Though it happens much more frequently to all the rest of us!)

And stating unequivocally that he received this “treatment”?

And it is without a doubt the only way Adam could have sounded and performed as he did when he came back from break. The other methods wouldn’t be effective or fast enough, are not options or are surgical.
Using steroid injections (either to the surrounding muscle or directly to the chord area) is rather similar to NFL superstars in a big game utilizing steroid shots directly to the muscle tissue in their knee to leg to perform or continue after injury or weakness… Yet, they don’t talk about it, because of broad spread lack of understanding regarding myth that it’s somehow “cheating” rather than taking the hit and staying out.

I just went back and watched all the vids from Sydney 1 and 2, and listened to most of the streams, and even with bad sound didn’t hear any “break” in his voice. He sounded good to me. As for WWTLF, he sang the phrase before “but love must die” one way first night and as he often does, added a little higher note embellishment the second night. I just find it hard to believe he would need such drastic treatment at this time, even if he had a cold. Also, we aren’t present backstage, so wouldn’t this be just speculation?

  50. Kradamour says:

Thanks for that follow-up, Smalls. I knew that was what you were referring to, and your explanation of the risks and ramifications was very reassuring. I was more concerned than I needed to be, it seems. So glad you are here with us!
    Blowing Kisses

Small quibble: I assume that you mean ‘marquee’ performer.
    Smile
