After a well received first show, Queen and Adam play the second of two back-to-back shows at the Allphones Arena in Sydney. Apparently Lady Gaga is attending, and may be performing as well.

    I love today’s poster! The eye beams in the photo on the lower left are fabulous. Also, the photo on the lower right with Adam and the mic stand, and Neil and Spike is one I took at the Izod concert. Thanks, mlg for including it!

    I’m happy for Adam that he got to sing on stage with LG, but have to agree that that performance was a hot mess. Gaga has a good voice, but there was no evidence of it in this performance and she made no effort to harmonize with him when they were singing together. It was like she was oblivious to the fact that he was singing with her. That was in stark contrast to the usual perfect harmonies in the rest of the concert. I didn’t think much of her woohoo’s either. Adam does owe her a big debt of gratitude for giving him Fever and coaching him during the recording. It’s one of the highlights of FYE, but still… I hope he gets another chance to sing with her on a more appropriate song with adequate preparation. Adam did the best he could with this performance, but it just didn’t work.

    Ever since read that Warner tweet feel myself moving on from Queen to the next Big Thing in Adam’s life – now more interested in what kind of preparations are being made for the big push – and what his music will be like. Certainly things are moving behind the scenes.

    After my earlier rant (nice to have a safe place to vent!!), I have calmed down considerably. I still don’t like it, but these positives helped:

    1) Adorable berting by Alexander Morner:
    LIKE OKAY SHE’S NOT AS GOOD BUT LETS PLAY ALONG AND ADAM WAS FUCKING GLOWING I’M TELLING YOU AND THEN THEY SANG TOGETHER AND GAGA GOT IT
    WRONG IN LYRICS BUT ADAM SAVED HER AND HE DOWNPLAYED FOR HER AND THEY DANCED AND ADAM WAS A FUCKING 4 YEAR OLD ON CHRISTMAS HE WAS SO HAPPY
    AND THAT MADE IT OKAY EVEN THOUGH THE SONG WAS A LITTLE BIT RUINED LOL BUT HIS FACE WAS WORTH IT
    2) Translation from Hungarian Music Daily. Even they noticed that Gaga was off.

    5) MOST IMPORTANT, Adam seems happy. That’s really the main thing for me.

    I would never in my wildest moment make a comment on twitter or YouTube or anywhere else outside of this blog against Gaga. I am too aware of her followers and the wars with the Osbournes and Katy Perry, and would never want any distress for Adam. But isn’t it safe to comment here???? I haven’t even tweeted to Brian May about the DVD yet.
    But there is already some disagreement going on on the YouTube of the duet, not from me though.

    Yipes. Just listened to the duet. That whooooooo in her high register was not good. Adam had control of the whole situation and improvised just at the right spots to help her out. The verse near the end was much better. No rehearsal and that’s what happens.

    On the couple of videos I listened too I thought there was something off with Adam’s voice too. A cold maybe? But where the notes started to go wonky he was able to pull out of it and continue on. STL it was very noticeable.

    IDK, I thought he sounded great on STL. She was def off pitch at times in the duet, and he picked her up. Their voices can sound very similar, as we saw in mashups of Marry the Night, but she doesn’t have any of his power/overdrive.

    But the famous note at the end of WWTLF has not been heard since London. It is very very hard to hit, especially in a noisy arena, I would imagine. And hard on the cords. At 3:30.
