  1. TLKC says:

Have to agree with axxxel on the swagger. Freddie was a perfect rooster – in the vein of Nureyev, as in “you WILL look at me.” Adam is more of a “come to me” performer.

Adam wins hands down in the looks and sex appeal department. He also has more charisma for me than Freddie but that is highly subjective.

Both voices are so amazing and I wouldn’t want to part with either of them. Freddie does Queen better but he couldn’t match Adam on Adam’s songs or on a whole lot of other songs for that matter.

  2. rs says:

I have to agree with HK Fan

I will have to respectively disagree with you Axxxel….I find Adam superior to Freddie in every way, voice, looks, charisma, movements on stage, and most definitely sex appeal.

But then I was an Adam fan first and foremost and only really got into Queen through him. I know, strange considering my age, but I was the Beatles generation and when Queen came along I was already living in “foreign lands”.

What am I doing here? I need to pack!

  3. Axxxel says:

@HK fan and TLKC… we may disagree or agree when it comes to Adam’s swagger but when it comes to Adam’s sex-appeal…I am just speechless… *thud*… *faints* Drool In Love Dazed

  4. HK fan says:

Just starting to watch the videos…..the curtain went down tonight instead of up…..someone on twitter said they thought there was a problem with the curtain which caused the delay.

  5. HK fan says:

great minds, eh rsSmile I’m British, and was going through my teens when Queen were at their height, but although I liked their music I was never a ‘fan’….didn’t follow them, didn’t have their posters on my wall, those spaces were occupied by Elvis, followed by David Essex, followed by Paul Young!!!

  6. HK fan says:

Love this comment from the now I’m here video…..read it and weep Mr critic man….

I’m still in the afterglow of this amazing show in San Jose! No one can ever Freddie’s shoes…BUT, there is no one on this earth that is more deserving to front QUEEN than Adam. That boy can flat out sing. I was a bit skeptical about the tour…given Queen’s pairing with other great singers – Paul Rogers. But, the moment I checked out their show in Chicago on you tube, I couldn’t get my credit card out fast enough. I HAD to see this show. I wasn’t disappointed. I never got to see Queen with Freddie..but this was damn close. Kudos to Adam for staying true to the spirit of the songs without trying to BE Freddie Mercury. Rock on boys! Long live the QUEEN.

  7. Axxxel says:

@HK fan: During my teenage years, my walls during my teenage years featured Duran2 . Queen’s “Radio Gaga Gaga” and “I want to break free” were on my parent’s favorite song list…but I was so fascinated by Queen performing “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Don’t stop me now”.

  8. Axxxel says:

Have fun Cher and rs !! Enjoy the QAL kind of magic !

  9. riskylady says:

I don’t know about the curtain, but the doors opened way too late for the starting time. The place was more than half empty at the supposed start time of 7:30, when doors only opened at 7. I think they had to wait for an audience – there were lots of pics showing various stages of occupancy to support that. Who wants to play to people walking to their seats or a somewhat empty house?

  10. HK fan says:

That seems to have been a problem at several of the shows riskylady……you’d think these venues would know how long it takes 15,000 people to file in and find their seats by now!!!

  11. AL says:

Cher asked me to post this. You may see her in it in LA and Vegas. Looks like she is “ready for Queenbert!”

  12. riskylady says:

Had to laugh at this comment on the review.

One thing that would help Adam is to lose the hand mic and go with a headset. This would allow him to move more and use his hands in grand gestures at the right moment. The mic tends to seem like a security blanket he hides behind. It keeps him from being more physical. Watch Adam sing “Is anybody listening?” from his performance in Ten Commandments and you’ll see how freeing him from the mic adds a new dimension.

LOL. The Ten Commandments is an example of Adam “being physical”? And who would want Adam – or Freddie – to give up his mike/stand? In Adam’s case, we would be missing PLENTY of “being physical”!!! Clearly this person has never seen an Adam live performance.
And, I don’t think getting “down and dirty” is his job description here. This isn’t really just a “rock” concert. There’s more depth, more showcasing the music. I think his job is to really do his singing and interpretative best on each song, and it’s a joy to hear.
I actually prefer his version of some songs, and I don’t know what they did with Freddie’s Love Kills but for me Adam will always be the owner.

  13. mmm222 says:

riskylady– I couldn’t agree more with everything you said. Some of the most memorable moments of an Adam concert involve his, er, placement of the handheld mike and his ravaging of the mike stand. It would be a tragedy to give that up in the interest of freeing his hands for “grand gestures”.

  14. ultimathule says:

He’s made plenty of “grand gestures” with the mic, mmm222 – lol

  15. turquoisewaters says:

I don’t think we could expect a better review from Harrington. I was there and it was great. I would say that where I sat (floor) the sound was not always great, but that is no fault of Adam’s. He was (and looked) stunning, he and all the band members had such a joyful vibe, and I count my lucky stars that I was able to attend the concert.

Harrington’s review was much better than I had anticipated.
Queen was Freddie, John, Brian and Roger. This is Queen + Adam Lambert. It is different but in the same great theatrical spirit of the music. One is the original, but both are great, IMO. Most people at the concerts, from what I have observed, have a really great time, and that’s the point of it all.

I do wish that people that second guess Adam as the frontman would realize that without him this tour would not be happening. Brian and Roger were not looking for someone to tour with, they happen to like performing with Adam.
Thankfully for all of us, they made that phone call back in 2011!

  21. cwm says:

OMG you guys the show was amazing! Spectacular! And Adam was glorious in every way. If you saw my tweets (@cwm122), you’ll note that I got a wee bit excited (as JOJOSIE so sweetly pointed out I tend to do Wink ). I need to get ready for my flight down to LA this afternoon, but I’ll post a proper recap later. Smile

Suffice it to say — that show kicked some serious butt.

ulti That flower was from one of the shows in Canada (can’t remember which one exactly), not from last night in San Jose.

Wasn’t the other flower a rose?

Doesn’t anybody record In The Lap Of The Gods?

Or is the visual of him popping up in the Q in the fringes and shoulders and spikes and glam and gorgeous sex god sex machine androgynous sexy out of control beautiful with that heavenly voice too overwhelming that the video just stops cold?

  28. milwlovesadam says:

    Found it. OMG.

    And.

I think I need a floor scraper to peel myself up…STL. Best ever!!!!!!!!!!!!! UNREAL.

We have said it before, so many times, but, Jeebus, he just gets better and better and better. Best live vocal ever.

  29. milwlovesadam says:

Oh. And the shoulder shimmies and half off fringes and dancing and twirling were ummm….yeah…not too shabby.

Half of the audience dead, half pregnant.

    ‘Nuf said.

  30. luval says:

That killer Queen up top is fantastic. Is it just me but does Adam look surprised when Brian shows up at the end of the couch. I don’t think he’s done that before. He just does his solo in the back.

  31. milwlovesadam says:

Watched most of the show. Epic. Cos2mwiz’s vids are so great, not only for the steady hand, but for showing audience response. Whoever he/she is, they have been with Adam since Wicked, Upright Cabaret, and beyond, it must be an old friend, or even a family member, methinks. Someone who does costumes, no doubt, by the name.

At the end of WATC, so cute how Roger is showing Adam his gold suit, so glam!!

  32. glambotgram says:

Here is cos2mwiz’z DSMN with riffing and underwear catching LOL

  33. Axxxel says:

@AL thanks for showing the cute T-shirt…

  34. luval says:

Aw oh….Adam is getting closer and closer to Abbrea his hairdresser if not there already. Thinking Eek!

  35. eywflyer says:

Now have a complete set of videos for this show up top, thanks to cos2mwiz. DSMN won’t show up embedded for some reason so just have the link.

  36. Axxxel says:

@riskylady… maybe I am wrong but I think a handmic is still more reliable than a headset when it comes to soundissues, especially when you have to move around a lot and sweat so much…

  37. Axxxel says:

Just wondering what Adam was saying at the end of killerqueen.. he said that he was not like that… and then ?

  38. luval says:

    I don’t like the headset…on anyone.

  39. luval says:

axxxel…I think he says “That’s not me there on the couch. I’m not like that. No, no. I’m only diving into my diamonds and champagne to get away from it all. I’m escaping reality, dahling”.

  40. retjenny says:

Love the poster and the pictures posted above.

We just got home from an 8 hr. drive from San Jose back to Orange County, going thru L.A. at peak traffic time.

Now, it time to get ready to go to the Forum tomorrow.

So, I will work on a proper recap when I can but for now this is my take on the whole thing:

The show MUST go on! BEST SHOW EVER!

  43. Ellessay says:

Some thoughts–Those people who are upset that Brian and Roger aren’t Queen are living in the past. Even if Freddie were still alive and Deacon was still playing, the Queen of 2014 would not have matched the unrealistic expectations of some who can only remember their heyday.

In the beginning, they were “hungry,” the songs were fresh, there was a chance they’d flop. Now the guys don’t have the pressure of the early days. The songs are tried and true, they can relax and just have fun playing the music that is so familiar to them. They aren’t working this hard for the money, the fame, or to secure a legacy. They have all of that already. It’s a different Queen, and they are making their real fans very happy.

I can understand some old fans being resentful of their using the Queen name when there are only two original members left. I recently saw Paul McCartney in concert, so it made me think–What if Paul and Ringo decided to tour as the Beatles? What would fans think of that? Could it ever be the Beatles without John Lennon and George Harrison? Paul sang many of the Beatles and Wings hits, with a new band who were very good. I enjoyed the concert very much. Yes, I would have loved to have seen the whole group, back in the day, but even now we’re talking about 70 year old men versus those 20-somethings back in the 60s.

It is what it is–great music delivered to an appreciative audience. We just need to enjoy, not worry about coulda, shoulda, woulda.

Beatles and Queen–original and classic songs that are timeless. Rod Stewart is the one I’d like to see retire. I have had more than enough of Maggie May, and his singing about his virgin child in Tonight’s the Night just sounds creepy.

  44. firstimerob says:

I was at San Jose. I was so concerned about the steps since I had a knee injury a couple of months ago I forked out a healthy sum for a floor ticket. Did not know I had to walk down stairs to the floor. Because of horrible directions and too many walking steps to find the elevator the only way to the floor was to descend the steps to floor 3 row 6 1&2 seats on the aisle smack in front of the stage walkway. No one in front of me. Adam at times was so close I could count the perspiration drops on his sexy chest. He is so stunning and mesmerizing at times I didn’t even hear his voice. I certainly know his voice I have been to 5 concerts. When the first two songs were sung the sound was not right. Like turquoisewaters said there were sound problems. I wonder where Harringass was siting could of been close. To me the music and his voice were not blending. After that the show just got betterer and betterer. My favorite is Adam dancing and letting loose, check out Somebody to Love. I have to admit I was bummed people around me were not singing or clapping but I did anyway I had fun. I do think it is best not to watch the videos like that young poster, suggested because I have never watched any of the Roger and May stuff and really enjoyed it maybe it was little too long without Adam but very entertaining mainly because it was new to me. The only surprise a pair of leopard under shorts were thrown on stage and Adam said “finally” a leopard bra also. He threw them both back to the audience.

When the show ended my new concert buddy got me a wheelchair what a relief. Flew home this morning and preparing with ice packs and pain killers for the LA show. My tickets are far enough away that I will not be distracted by all the beauty and will hear Adams beautiful voice.

  45. milwlovesadam says:

nkd, I can’t even tell you how much I enjoyed meeting you, and getting to know you, and oh crap, if we lived in the same area we’d be together a lot…so alike we are.

  47. milwlovesadam says:

I know it sounds sappy, but I really enjoyed our little chats out on the balcony of my suite, looking at the Chicago lights.

I’m so glad I booked that suite, so many of us got to really know each other there.

    Such a great few days.

And now I’m looking forward to Toronto so very much. And meeting more of us.

  48. ultimathule says:

Enjoyed reading your post, Ellessay – makes sense – and Rod Stewart – lol

  49. milwlovesadam says:

Just watched In The Lap of The Gods…I was thinking that he didn’t wear gloves in Chicago, and they were easily slipped off. I’m not liking the gloves with the fringes. Or with other outfits, except the intro leather jacket.

  50. nkd says:

Aww mils, it was such a wonderful time! I wish we had another concert together. Another time for sure!
I can’t wait for you to meet Ron! You’re going to love each other!
