Note the show starts one hour later than all the other shows.
Show time at the Mediolanum Forum is approximately 9:00 PM CET.

Tonight’s poster designer sharing her talent with us again is @creativmind1281.

    Hi guys,
It’s the morning after. After what, you say? After the best facking show ever, is what! (Borrowing the term from a fellow Dutchie.)
Review will come, plus some great photos, if I say so myselfWink

The show couldn’t have been better after lots of uncertainty. Very happy I decided to go.

Had a great time with Riskylady and riskyhubby.

  2. Cait1602 says:

mieps I am so happy for you guys. It was such an awesome show last night. We were worried till the first note lol But again he has showed us what a fantastic out of the world artist Adam is.

Incredible, absolute incredible. We were all blown away watching/listening to the streams. You guys must have been hit by a rollercoaster all right yesterday. I cant wait for your reviews.

Not even sure what song this is from. Anyone know?

  5. Cait1602 says:

I think that is the end of Adams “Gimme All Your Love” jam-session.

  6. Kiwi says:

Thanks Cait1602, I guessed it probably was but wasn’t sure. I’m trying to catch up, but getting tired. Almost midnight here. I think I’ll have another go in the morning

  7. Kiwi says:

Oooh, she’s loading lots more, may have to stay up a wee bit longer!

  10. LadyNorth says:

mieps, so great you had a show and a wonderful one indeed! Wanna hear about that crazy audience more… Haven’t got time to properly catch the vids yet, but from the stream and short vid bits I have seen, boy was careful with his voice but otherwise his wild playful self Big Smile

This cougar is so tired now, too late nights with streams and twitter after that… No flailing tonight. How can’t Adam be tired, I am exhausted only from watching! Tomorrow is a pre-packing/planning day. Off to Helsinki on Sunday.

  15. skaschep says:

ultimathule Thanks for that wiki link. But my god: there are 387 youtube video’s of the concert in Amsterdam.

  16. Calgary says:

Have you all noticed how universally positive the reviews have been in Europe? Different to N.America where we were often taken aback by neutral or negative remarks…or is it just my imagination?

  17. skaschep says:

Calgary I haven’t seen any of those N.America reviews, but I did read some of the German reviews after the first concert there. They weren’t all that enthusiastic in the sense that they kept comparing him to Freddie Mercury and that they found him a bit to light for that. Mostly I’ve seen positive reviews though.

  18. Cait1602 says:

Calgary Hm there were negative remarks? I dont know much about Queen is seen in the USA. In Germany ( and I think in most european countries ) Queen is generally adored. Hell we have every year a bunch of tribute bands all through the year touring through Germany, with 95% sold out venues. Are there many tribute bands around in the USA?

For many – like me – it was a dream for years seeing Queen live again as a Rockband. I can admit that Paul Rodger was ok, just not my vision of Queen. Hearing that Queen was about to be revived as a Rockband, even without hearing Adam Lamberts interpretation of the songs, just knowing they will be back as a Rockband was enough for most of us Germans to go crazy nuts about it.

Hearing Adam Lambert, seeing our Idols rocking again like they did in the 70s and 80s – hell there cant be anything but positive reviews all around. Sure there are always some Freddie-idolist who can accept anything else but Queen with Freddie and unfortunately the Freddie-Fans can even be reporters, reviwers who has a hard time to be objektive.

Again so long – sorry….to make it short: Europe LOVES and has adopted Adam Lambert as their new Crown Prince!

  19. nkd says:

North American reviews were mostly positive I thought, however many did hold back some praise of Adam, and there was always the “he’s no Freddie but…”.
Some of the major market reviewers, NY Times, LA Times, etc., were less than positive in their reviews but they do that for most everyone I suppose. But none of the glowing OTT reviews that we’ve seen in the UK and Europe.

  20. Calgary says:

    Exactly, nkd!

That last “save me” vid was the best! And the little thumbs up at the end says it all. Yes You can see him signal something, probably that it’s okay to do WWTLF.

  32. mieps says:

This report is brought to you by the train from Milano to Venezia! There’s a personal experience here unrelated to the show, but I wouldn’t have gone through it without the show so there’s that. This story has taken over a bit, but I’ll have you know now that I looooooooooved the show.

    So, here it goes.

Since I was already in the Netherlands it seemed logical to go to Milan as well, especially since riskylady had an extra ticket. This of course due to the unfortunate cher, who wasn’t able to make it. Since my family already thinks I don’t come to see them anymore, but I only visit when Adam Lambert shows up in the Netherlands, I thought it wise not to tell them I was going to see QAL again. I just said I was meeting riskylady for coffee in Milan. My older sister was with me in London in 2012 when we met riskylady and many other soulmates, so she knows we do go to great lengths to see Adam, and sometimes each other. That’s not to say they’ll probably still think I’m nuts, but it can’t be helped Wink

Agreed to meet riskylady and riskyhubby in their hotel on the day of the concert. We started off with some Milan sightseeing – beautiful, beautiful – and mid afternoon we made our way to the venue. We had lunch there, followed by a pathetically small, but very strong, coffee and waited.
    And waited.
    And waited.

At one point three young Italian guys came up to us and asked us if we’d seen Freddie at Wembley. In their defence, there we were in Queen shirts and being all of ‘29’, it’s a logical question Wink Of course we had to disappoint them and said we’d only seen it on DVD. But… we added that Adam did a wonderful job as well. Personally I didn’t think they were all that convinced, but I like to think they are now! They hung around a bit to chat and wanted photos with all of us together, so in all it was a real fun and unexpected encounter. Lots of kisses when we said goodbye, ‘cause they wanted to do it the Italian way, which is 2 kisses, but I had to up that to the Dutch way, which is three! They totally didn’t mind. And they were football fans (the rest-of-the-world-kind), so me being from the same country as Marco van Basten was a big plus Wink

We were joined by @Merrycello, who missed out in Brussels, but was able to buy a ticket from riskylady as well and flew in on show-day. She was so excited and I was very happy for her that it worked out so well. Brussels would’ve been her birthday present! Happy birthday @Merrycello

Once inside I noticed immediately that the crowd was by far the youngest from what I could see. They turned out to be the most enthousiastic too! The cheers were deafening!! A very strange thing was that the back of the floor was basically empty. That was a first for me, usually they are packed like sardines. Up to that point I still wasn’t sure how the show’s format would be, and whether Adam would be able to sing most of the songs, or whether there would be adjustments. The only thing I was sure of, is that he would have to hold back at times.

Boy, was I wrong. He came out flying and he was soo energetic and seemed sooo happy to be there. I could almost grasp the joy on stage. It was the awesomest thing. High, strong notes galore, no signs of wavering. The crowd was singing along loud and the girl in front of me, barely 20, knew every word of every song. I was impressed with the crowd in Amsterdam, but man, this one was soooo much better. When Roger sang Days of our lives I thought for sure we wouldn’t get Who wants to live forever, but no, we were getting it all! I know some songs were skipped, but it’s my absolute favourite, so I wasn’t complaining. By then I’d forgotten I was hoping for Don’t stop me now and The show must go on in Milan, since they were not played in Amsterdam.
This absolutely fantastic show was over waaaay too soon – almost-ninja-roll and all.

We took the metro back; riskylady, riskyhubby and I had bought our tickets in the afternoon, but @Merrycello still had to get hers. The line-up was reaaally long, but we waited for her anyway. Samen uit, samen thuis, as we say in Holland. By the time we got to the platform, we had to wait another half hour for the train to arrive. This is when I started to worry. The train would get us to Milan, but I had to switch to another train to get to my hotel, and I wasn’t sure that would be possible now. Once my companions had gotten off, I checked with some guys sitting near me wether a transfer was still possible, and they said trains run till 12:30.
    It was 12:38.
    Oops.
They were pretty sure that once I got off there would not be another train, so I would have to take a cab.
Right, a cab for a stretch that was almost 30 minutes by metro. I didn’t think so, and neither did my wallet. I also didn’t feel like walking through Milan in the middle of the night. So what to do? I could see on the metro-diagram that the train I was on ran parallel to the one I needed to be on, so I figured that if I would ride till the end, a cab to my hotel would be less expensive than from Milan. According to the diagram the distance wasn’t too bad. Of course I know those diagrams hardly represent the reality, but it still made me feel better (there is, after all, the option to draw a metroline on a diagonal). When the train got to Cologno Nord there were only a few people left on board, and my hopes of a good outcome had sunk considerably. I asked the guy who was closing down the station, whether there were still buses going or taxis, and he said no. Milan yes, but not there. Unfortunately he only spoke Italian, and I do not, so communication was a bit of a problem. I was able to ask whether he knew a number for ordering a taxi, but he didn’t. I showed him the address of my hotel in the hopes he would know the best way to get there. It also contained their phone number, so he said to call that. I thanked him, and went outside to call the hotel. It’s a very small hotel, so already I was worried nobody might be there, but luckily they answered immediately… but refused to call a cab. Instead they gave me the number for cabs so I could do it myself, because he didn’t know which exit I was at. Right, as if I knew that!
Anyway, I called the number he gave me and a taxi would come in 8 minutes. Phew! I was just on my way to stand somewhere in a dark spot, so I would not be easily spotted by people who I didn’t want to be spotted by, when Trainguy left the building. He called out to me, so I walked over and said I ordered a taxi. Then he tells me that sometimes taxis won’t come if a person calls, but they will come if the hotel calls. Great.
He also tells me that the station is flanked by two streets, and that the taxi could get there via either one, but they weren’t really connected, so there was a possibility the taxi wouldn’t even see me. Also great.
Actually, I’m not sure about the not being connected bit, because I couldn’t figure out everything he said, and he couldn’t figure out anything I said. But, as far as I could see there was no road connecting the two. I guess that’s what Hotelguy was talking about as well.
Trainguy, meanwhile, just stood there, looking into the distance, sometimes he would talk, but I have no clue what about. It was very sweet really, he didn’t have to stay, but he did. And just when he was saying something about taxis, he pointed and said: ‘Taxi.’
I cannot deny it was a beautiful sight, a white taxi turning the corner and signalling he wanted to stop where we were. I profusely thanked Trainguy and got in the car with Taxiguy. After a long look at the hotel address, he seemed to have figured out his driving strategy and took off. The journey was longer than I expected, but I’m convinced he tried to get there as soon as possible. Total cost? €30, including tip. I could get depressed about that, it’s actually more than the cost of flying from the Netherlands to Milan! But in this case I happily paid.

  33. rs says:

Mieps, wow, what a story! Glad you got to your hotel safe and sound. All’s well that ends well! And you got to see a very special concert. I wish that you were coming to Prague, but I understand that you aren’t sure that you can get a ticket to the sold-out concert.

Enjoy Venice, one of my very favorite cities, especially during Carnivale! And don’t get sick!!!!!
