Adam and Queen continue their mini-tour with the first of three shows at HMV Hammersmith Apollo in London. Additional concerts will follow at this venue on Thursday and Saturday. The concert is scheduled to begin at 8 PM London time (3 PM Eastern time, 12 PM Pacific time). Word from venue security (via the twitter list) is that “they are set to film for a DVD. Major recording Saturday, but they are set to film all the shows.” So it appears that we can look forward to an eventual DVD of this – very exciting!

To all of the wonderful folks from this site attending one or more of the London Queen + Adam shows – remember these very special events and have a blast!

Another one Bites The Dust, oh my, Damcy Adam is back. And, um, he is getting more loosey goosey with those risers, or “stairs” if you will. Ahem.

I just wonder how much looser he’ll be tomorrow.

I just so much want to see WLL Adam again. Please universe. Bring some more dance action. We’ve already gotten rodeo legs, hoppy-skippy, but no floorBert yet. No whipping hair bert yet.

This was posted on Atop by a Queen fan about concert DVDs

A few things…I really don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade but I want to make certain you all are aware of something. Queen has filmed many of their shows only to not release them. In fact Brian did a solo gig at the Royal Albert Hall in 1998 specifically meant to be released on DVD later that year.
    It still hasn’t been released.

Queen’s gig at Hammersmith 1975 was filmed for broadcast. It still hasn’t been released (although to be fair it has finally been mentioned for release.) I could go on.

They may just be documenting for themselves, using it in a documentary later on down the line, maybe making a few bonus tracks or what not. BUT just because it is being professionally filmed, does not mean necessarily that a DVD will be released. Sure it’s got a better chance than if it wasn’t being filmed at all. AND to bring a positive note, they did film and release one gig from each of the tours with Paul Rodgers so maybe it is their intention…I just want everyone who is so excited to join Queen fan world for just a moment…NOTHING is offical until you get the press release from QOL about when it is going to be released…EVEN if they say it’s going to happen. This is a group who first mentioned an Anthology Box Set in 1994 and said should be coming in 2003 at the latest. Still waiting

I am loving all the vids and performances from these Queenbert concerts. However, I have to admit that my favorite performance in every show has been the Under Pressure duet with Adam and Roger. They are absolutely adorable together!

ETA: You can just feel the love and respect that Adam, Roger, and Brian have for each other.

  5. Calgary says:

KI55andTELL Man next to me big queen fan never seen Adam b4 said he is amazing vocalist and it seems like he been with queen forever

KI55andTELL He is massive Paul rovers fan but said Adam is far better. Was talking b4 show and after he said I understand why u r such a fan now

  6. Calgary says:

Ben Marshall‏@benmarshalluk I have through my work had the pleasure of Roger Daltry, Jon Bon Jovi, Paul Rodgers, Robbie Williams and many other great rock singers….

Ben Marshall‏@benmarshalluk …but none of them come close to being as good as Adam Lambert was fronting Queen tonight!! #differentleague

Ben Marshall‏@benmarshalluk Didn’t try to be Freddie! You don’t need to try and be someone else when you’re that good!! #adamlambert #queen

  7. sparkle says:

Thanks, Calgary! Loved, loved, loved these quotes!!!

  8. milwlovesadam says:

Thanks Calgary, I just hope he slays the British media tomorrow!!

And that it is picked up over here.

What will it take to get press here????

  9. milwlovesadam says:

    Good night all.

See you all here. Same Bat Time. Same Bat Channel.

    LOL. I’m such a dork…

  10. Kradamour says:

You don’t need to try and be someone else when you’re that good!!

    Exactly!
    Yes

Thanks you guys for welcoming me into the realm of Queenbert so graciously, and not sticking out your tongues and saying “I told you so!”.
    Grin Grin Grin

I still don’t think I would like Queen without Adam. But the sweet interactions are just this side of a bromance, so lovely to see grown men of a certain age take such obvious joy in Adam’s partnership.
And Adam dancing on stage? Totes adorbs.
    Silly

    Yup, resistance is futile.
    (Unless you are Perez, apparently.)

    Resistance if Futile.

I think Perez is just so jealous that he has no real talent,. so he feeds off of putting others down.

    His 15 minutes are up.

  13. Calgary says:

This one is hilarious, and goes with your comment, krad

Vudubird: Brian’s going to be fighting Eber for parental custody of Adam!

Great! Thanks, adamland, for the link. I love this song and always look out for the video after each show but missed it somehow. Gone to watch it then back to bed.

  22. Ceddies says:

OMG, I had to come back and comment on Adam’s face beginning about the 4:40 mark on the link adamland posted. His grin is so precious, and he looks so happy and satisfied. I love that look.

  23. adamland says:

Ceddies you are welcome! This is the best BoRap Adam has done IMO, perfect blend of rock vocals from Adam and Freddie, and yeah that grin…

  24. turquoisewaters says:

What excellent footage we have from this concert. So even if the DVD does not materialize any time soon, we can enjoy over and over. And this is just London1 (I am trying to be systematic with all my downloads). My thanks to all those filming the epicness.

  25. jlurksacto says:

I think Perez is just so jealous that he has no real talent,. so he feeds off of putting others down.

Read Chunkies tweets, and she said no word of Perez in the house – so liar?
    (again)

    Review from the Evening Standard
    http://www.standard.co.uk/arts/music/queen–adam-lambert-hmv-hammersmith-apollo–review-7938206.html

…Lambert sizzled, but when he left May and Taylor to fend for themselves, the evening sagged. May may have the startled air of a man caught trying on Germaine Greer’s hair, but his acoustic interlude was dreary and his guitar solo interminable. A ruddy faced version of Terry Venables these days, Taylor might have left all the singing to Lambert and his drum solo in the garage.

Still, such are the whims of men repeatedly (and correctly) described by Lambert as “rock royalty”. If May and Taylor have an iota of common sense left, they will sign up Lambert for the long live haul and a new album.

  27. TLKC says:

Hi Guys! Up again this morning and just read through everyone’s posts. If Perez Hilton was there I’d like to know where he sat. We were next to the VIP and media section and I would have recognized him. He must have bought his own ticket if he was there. I doubt he would fib about it, though.

Adam and Queen brought the house down for every number. What part of that did Perez miss?

  28. TLKC says:

I found a piece of paper on the floor in the venue and thought it was a set list. Checked it out when we got back to the hotel and it was the Front-Of-House Manager’s brief.

    Interesting info:

    Curfew: 10:40
    After-show: Yes…’til 1 am

    Expected Attendance: SOLD OUT
Format: Standing (Under 15’s must be accompanied by an adult and it is recommended that they be in the seating area.)

    Audience Profile
    Age range: 16-50
    Sex ratio: 50/50
    Alcohol Consumption: medium/high

They definitely got the age range wrong on the upper range.

Loved Lyndseys review, so spot on. And will have to agree with her, and to some extent the evening standard review, in that it definitely wasn’t as buzzing duringthe non Adam segment in the middle. It was still great and very much appreciated by the audience, but most people in the circle sat back down to listen at that point, and immediately stood back up when Adam came on again..
and that ‘Elmo” jacket looked stunning in real lifeSmile

  35. milwlovesadam says:

Loving the press so far, Lyndsey’s review was just perfect. And she had Suz’s videos linked. Very nice. Also loved her Radio Gaga hand clapping bucket list reference. I know it’s on mine too!!

Hopefully QueenBert will play the states, and I ( we ) will get a chance to fulfill our wishes.

Good morning Ron! I hope you and Gil had a lovely anniversary dinner the other night. Thanks for bringing the TALC vid link, I had forgotten to look for those this morning. I know they were having internet problems at their hotel last night – that’s the first vid they have posted from the show.

Seeing how much Adam is enjoying these shows and the obvious bond that has formed between Adam, Brian and Roger, moreso than ever I simply do not believe that this ends on Saturday night.

  38. Ron says:

Good Morning, eywfler! Thank you. We had a very nice celebration.

Yes, this is the only vid at this time from TALC. We can look forward to more downloads through the day!

I think this is a very good version of Who Wants To Live Forever. Adam’s vocal is front and center:

    http://www.entertainment-focus.com/news/adam-lambert-enjoys-successful-week-in-uk

Adam Lambert dazzled a sold out Hammersmith Apollo crowd last night, performing the first of his three highly-anticipated shows with Queen.

The gigs come on the week Lambert releases his second album Trespassing, which debuted at number 3 in the official UK album chart midweek update

  41. eywflyer says:

Updated with the great versions of Dragon Attack and Who Wants to Live Forever linked above, thanks renata and Ron!

I’m heading out on my weekend trip now, will check in here this evening sometime. AL will be hosting the remaining London threads, enjoy!

  42. Ron says:

    Neil McCormack review:

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/live-music-reviews/9395281/Queen-Adam-Lambert-Hammersmith-Apollo-review.html

3 out of 5 stars. Pretty much what we expected based on his tweets from last night.

  43. Ron says:

    McCormack:

Hand-picked by guitarist Brian May, Lambert can certainly handle the vocal range of Queen’s songs although he sings in a softer, more soulful, modern pop style, without Mercury’s rock grit or operatic bombast.

But it is to his credit that he is a talent in his own right and not just an impersonator. If his performance seems to improve as the show goes on, its hard to be sure if that is a sign of Lambert finding his mojo, or the audience tuning in to his particular brand of flamboyant showmanship. He really comes into his own in a final, non-stop hit section, when they trot out the 80s smashes that, one imagines, Lambert feels most affinity with. He takes charge of the funky Another One Bites The Dust and rips the heart out of Somebody To Love.

So he acknowledges Adam is talented and appreciates him on some levels. He likes him but he doesn’t like him is what I take away from his review. At least it’s not an awful put down review of Adam which is what I was fearing. It’s “okay”.

Ron, check out first commenter Neil McCormack review. Maybe seen it
    around before?

Hi!! Yes, I know the name!

I was going to make a comment but I’m not going to aggravate myself with what may follow.

As I posted, it’s an “okay” review of Adam. McCormack could have mocked and outright dismissed Adam but he didn’t. I was going to comment sarcastically how glad I was that the reviewer was sure to include that vital piece of information when he referred to Adam as “the gay American singer”. But it’s not worth it. I’m not going to get into it.

  46. luval says:

Just a little comment about the dvd’s that were promised but never released. Look at the dates…1975…1994…there was no internet then, no downloading, no illegal downloading. It’s a whole new ballgame today. With technology, if they really want to release a dvd they could do it pretty quickly after all the shows are done. So I would be surprised if we do NOT get a dvd and monetarily I think it would be a success. But they have to act while the iron is hot because time & fans move on to the next best thing.

  47. Ron says:

Oksana! You go girl over on the Telegraph site!! Wink

    I’ll back you up 100%!

  48. Calgary says:

Hey Ron! Re the Neil McCormick review – I am having a twitter convo with him re the gay comment. I’ll try to post when it’s over.

  49. Ron says:

    Hi Calgary!!

Interesting!! Ask him why, if it’s so necessary to point out that Adam is gay, that he didn’t make sure to include that Brian and Roger are straight!
