Adam and Queen continue their mini-tour with the first of three shows at HMV Hammersmith Apollo in London. Additional concerts will follow at this venue on Thursday and Saturday. The concert is scheduled to begin at 8 PM London time (3 PM Eastern time, 12 PM Pacific time). Word from venue security (via the twitter list) is that “they are set to film for a DVD. Major recording Saturday, but they are set to film all the shows.” So it appears that we can look forward to an eventual DVD of this – very exciting!

To all of the wonderful folks from this site attending one or more of the London Queen + Adam shows – remember these very special events and have a blast!

Well I hear both Suz and TALC have the whole show on video. Bless them! Should be just a couple of short hours…

  2. TLKC says:

OK – recap! OMFG – it was amazing! Adam absolutely owned the stage and worked it like mad. You really can’t see that on the videos. His voice was awesome throughout and the crowd was with him and the band from the word go.

We were in 4th row balcony near the centre section – I could see Bob Geldof because he was in the same row so I looked sideways every now and then. It seemed to me, when I looked at him, that he was reacting differently to each song. He never stood but he leaned forward intently a lot and he made a comment and laughed when the clapping got out-of-sync for Radio Gaga. He put his head in his hands during one song – not telling you which – but I think he was just timing out rather than disliking it. When we really rocked out to the songs he looked around in amazement – he seemd to think it was hilarious. I think overall he enjoyed it but he is a rocker and may have some comments so we’ll see.

Adam’s family was nearbye – Eber, Leila, Sauli, Neil, Danielle and Sauli’s best friend plus another girl who may have been his sister.

I looked back at the family a couple of times during “Who Wants to Live Forever” and Eber was just standing there with his mouth open – I think he was so proud. At the end of the song Sauli turned and said “Unbelievable!”

There were a lot of “who’s who” there. Two guys in front of us looked familiar – Avtrav and I we both think they are old rockers but we couldn’t place them. They rocked out to every song. One of them stood up for “Fat-Bottomed Girls” so we just followed him. (Balcony people didn’t stand much in the first half.

A lot of young people, too, and they were loving it.

    End of Part One.

    Ron, I bought you a T-shirt.

  3. cwm says:

Hey guys! Yes we all survived! But just barely. Seriously, the show was incredible and Adam was magnificent. Just unbelievable to experience it live. Adam could not have been better. I’ll post a more extensive recap later, but just wanted to touch base briefly to let you all know that Adam and Queen knocked the roof off the place. And the audience LOVED it. And Adam.

Big group of us hanging out at a Spanish tapas restaurant, drinking sangrias and eating tapas and debriefing the show. Sweet!

    Adam Lambert ‏@adamlambert

    GREAT show in London!!

  6. TLKC says:

    Part Two:

A guy our age sitting beside us asked me about Adam: is he any good? At the end of the concert I asked him “So how did he do? He said “Amazing!”

The people sitting behind us were two Queen ex-wives with their current husbands. One of the women was the mother of Rufus. How do we know? They told us. Apparently the current husband used to work for Queen as well.

One of the new husbands commented that he could see I really enjoyed it LOL! I was up and dancing from Fat-Bottomed Girl.

I don’t know what the Daily Telegraph reviewer looks like so who knows where he was sitting. From where we sat it was an amazing show and Adam held his own. I don’t know if you saw the way Roger put his hand around the back of Adam’s neck when they hugged at the end but he loves Adam to pieces, you can tell. Hope that moment shows up on the videos.

Sounds to me as though the DT critic may have come around by the end of the show. The moustache probably refers to Freddie’s moustache imho – no insult there. It could also be a comment on his relative youth.

I’m going to assume he means it as a compliment, as in, “You need to work on your backhand….because you’re going to Wimbledon, my boy.”

    End of Part Two

Good evening! I’m glad to see that there was a dinner (thanks to AL for updating the thread with that link and the setlist while I was sleeping). Looks like our folks at the show had a great time! Can’t wait to see the videos later on. I’ll update the thread if they start to show up before I go to work at midnight Eastern.

AL has also graciously agreed to host the threads for the remaining two London Queen shows, as I’ll be traveling (not to London unfortunately).

I don’t think that Queen tribute band thing is a problem – I can understand that actual Queen would not have US dates at the same time, but the final date listed for the tribute band is September 1 and any Queen dates would be later than that in any case, to allow sufficient time for promo and ticket sales.

So, basically, @QueenWillRock reminded me why they’re the best band of all time and @adamlambert’s vocals were phenomenal. ‪#brilliantnight

Queen and Adam Lambert are smashing this out of the park. What a gig so far!!

He’s a talent agent and Ex Theatre producer. SONY provided him with the ticket.

Its 12.40 in the morning and I can’t quite bring myself down enough to go to bed….
The show was amazing, adam looked and sounded out of this world. WWTLF was just jawdropping, and I think my second favourite was Somebody to love, just spectacular. I must admit I was a little disappointed that he didn’t sing TSMGO, thats one of my favourites. Brian did the first verse of it on the acoustic guitar and got everyone to sing along which was quite touching, still wanted Adam to sing it though….but we got fireworks instead!!!!!
The love and mutual respect between Adam, Roger and Brian, especially was palpable, it was just pouring out from the stage.
We couldn’t see the catwalk part where we were sitting so missed the bows and hugs at the end, looking forward to Suz’s videos to catch the bits I missed.
There were lots of queen supporters in the audienec but they seemed very into it, lots of cheers all the way through, and some very big cheers for Adam at times.
Bumped into Little Dutchess and The Duke before going into the venue, but didn’t see anyone else.
    Looking forward to tomorrowSmile

  13. aely says:

Hi all. I missed everyone but met and sat with lots of men. Old, young, gay and straight. Adam fans (big ones) traveled from north London just to see Adam(with overnight bags in tow) And hard core Queen fans and some that talked the most smack about Adam before the concert professed to be the biggest Quuen purists EVER. So I quizzed them on Queen facts and let’s just say I gave them an education. I have been up for almost 48 hours now. Flew in from Texas today with 2 crying 4 month old twins next to me all flight. I can recap more when I get some rest but each of the groups 3 very excitedly and one just had to admit Adam can sing. Progress. More tomorrow.

Adam’s theater training is much in evidence…Brian’s guitar keeps it from being “Broadway Queen”.
I am liking this collaboration a LOT better – Adam is comfortable, owning the stage, making the music his own, ramping up his contribution to the whole…
Don’t think I’ll ever be a huge Queen fan, but this Adam fan is slowly being won over to Queenbert. (Feel free to gloat, guys!)
And yes, if there is an American show, I will do my very best to join y’all!

Hi everyone, I couldn’t begin to formulate a coherent recap of the awesomeness that was tonight, but I did want to add one thing to what has already been posted. I was down in the GA pit and the crowd was full of Queen fans. They were excited and enthusiastic from the beginning, but you could feel the energy building and they were loving Adam more and more as the concert went on. During the whole show Adam was so respectful of Queen and the boys that there was never a feeling that he was trying to replace Freddie. I couldn’t see everything and can’t wait for my first row balcony seats tomorrow night to complete my Adam/Queen experience.

Bowing clapping and in much appreciation of our Suz!!!

luval, I like that particular photo too. But, at the same time, it looks like mid-song Brian’s fallen asleep on Adam’s shoulder and Adam is holding him up.

“Broadway Queen” is not so far off the original, Queen with FM was always very theatrical. Adam fits right in.

  44. sparkle says:

Ron – thanks for sharing those photos – most are gorgeous – the lighting makes them like works of art! Happy belated anniversary! 35 years is quite an accomplishment! Loved those pics you shared of you and Gil then and now – so special!

Yes, very theatrical and such beautiful harmonies in their songs with badass instrumentation, which is what made them stand out among other rock bands.

Perez is such a douchebag. He misses Freddie??? The lighting???

What is he? Missing any ability to feel the vibe, to enjoy life? Why travel to London just to diss Adam? And Queen? He could do that just by sitting in his depressing little narrow-minded dark corner in LA and watch a stream or videos afterwards.

    Pathetic. Famewhore.

Why doesn’t he just go away? He’s like an annoying little gnat!

  48. mmm222 says:

I am loving Suz’s videos and the recaps with the rave reviews and the scoop about all the interesting people sitting around our ALL friends.

Kradamour– I’m so glad you’re coming around. IF it happens, it just wouldn’t be right to go to a Queenbert concert in the US without you. To resist is futile!
