Sorry already posted earlier, deleted
Thanks, Lilybop!! LOVE the GIF!
Oh my Lilybop2010 I love that GIF!!! . Roger is so sweet and so very genuine in his affection for Adam.
I also love that poster at the top of the page; one of the all-time best, IMO – thanks @weelassie11.
I know all the posters from all sources are amazing, of course, but some are just that much more amazingly creative and kudos to those consistently talented artists who conjure them up for the fandom .

TAKE IT ALL IN
And that’s what I consciously thought of when arriving in London. The place I wanted to visit my whole life. The minute the plane touched ground and I got off, I almost couldn’t wrap it around my head that that’s where we were. It was an overnight flight and of course I couldn’t sleep on the plane. Then it was off to Wembley by train. Nicest chat with the ticket guy. Asked what we had planned and mentioned QAL. He was excited for us. In fact even the customs guy at Heathrow’s mandatory question on “what are you in London for” got me yakking about QAL.
Ride to Wembley was long. Over an hour. So many stops but finally there and off to the hotel. The Novotel West. Will never stay in a Novotel again. Didn’t like the Toronto one but thought I’d give it another chance. Hoped for the best in Wembley but nope. Awful beds, no wash cloths, one tiny pillow on each bed. (They couldn’t give us any more). Other problems too.
As tired as I was after checking in I was off to find the trucks. Dennis could care less and took a nap I think. A 5 minute walk away and there they were in all their glory. I already posted about talking to the crew guys. It was fun! Then I took a little walk around the Wembley Arena area. Not much to see. Got something to eat and went back to the hotel and watched awful British TV.
SHOW DAY
Slept in and got in touch with riskylady. We met at the box office, then went to breakfast around 11-11:30 at an outlet mall right near the Arena. At that time there were about 20 people in line. They had their own number system going. Alexander Morner was first in line. Very goth looking crowd. Breakfast was OK. We spent a couple of hours there laughing and visiting. It was freezing and windy outside. As it got later, risky waited at this Civic Center across from the ARena. This was very nice for all the queue peeps. It’s warm, there are bathrooms, food, places to eat & sit. Even a Library.
Mr Risky and I took a long walk to find a chemist…Drug store. We must have walked a mile to the center of Wembley. Crowded, many tiny stores in all flavors of nationalities. I went back to the hotel to change and get ready to queue. Dennis had gone for a walk to explore Wembley and did not want to wait in line. He didn’t go to the show until about 8pm. As I mentioned in a previous post I got there only 90 minutes before the doors opened and went right to the front/right of stage B. Closest I’ve ever been.
I stayed there with a couple of nice women I met in line. One was a nurse who always loved Queen but purposely did not watch any QAL videos. She did see NYE, however. She was gobsmacked! I had to point out things during the show like the Q coming down which she missed at first (staring at Adam lol). I remember I did this in Chicago. The production is so overwhelming at times that seeing this spectacle for the first time it’s hard to take everything in. She was blown away and was in shock when Adam passed right in front of us in Radio GaGa.
The crowd loved it. Someone apparently said the crowd was a dud? NO WAY! The place was shaking with the stomping. Of course here and there people were sitting but still having fun.
There was one section…lower side…great seats that were empty until show time. Then it filled up with “suits”. Looked like important men and women. Warner peeps maybe? Dennis stood in the back. He wasn’t interested in being near the front. And I was shocked when he told me he had tears in his eyes when Brian sang “Love of My Life” with the whole audience singing along.
WHAT I NOTICED
Adam? There are no words. Two people fainted near me. Heard there was a third but not sure where. Adam had underarm hair lol! Loved it when he took the fringe off during STL. LOL at the mike drop at his crotch when he says “I’m so lonely”. Dragon attack was on stage A. I really missed Days of Our Lives. Roger had voice problems so only sang A Kind of Magic. And Brian’s solo was only 10 minutes. He only went up one screamer. He put his finger under his chin with the “cut signal” to the band to cut it off early.
Incredible show over. Everyone leaves. It goes by so fast as we know. Went back to the hotel with a bunch of gold glitter a happy camper.
LAST DAY
Sight seeing day. We took an early train from Wembley to the hotel right in the middle of everything. Getting off Westminster Station was a shock to me at to what hits you immediately out of the terminal. Big Ben, The Parliament building, Thames River, The London Eye.WOW WOW WOW. This may be boring to peeps you have been there before. The hotel here was WONDERFUL! The London County Hall Park Plaza. Everything was terrifc. The room, the staff, amenities. We went for a walk, then parted ways. You know what it’s like when one person wants to do/see something different than you do. LOL Worked out fine. Had dinner, watched the Brit awards live on ITV. Home the next day. Plane ride was wonderful. No turbulence, huge airbus 333. Off to the USA. I have NO jet lag!
Anyway, that’s about it. I left my signature rhinestone at each hotel. Can’t wait until my next adventure. Hopefully with someone who “gets it”!
Want to say other than the first day in Wembley, the weather was great. Misty rain in the morning, sunny days, temp in the 40’s.
And Adam’s hair. GREAT! Longish with no shaved sides!
Great recap luval I am so glad you went, and got to see the show so close. And hugged a truck
Great recap Luval….
so did Dennis actually enjoy the concert or not??
And I agree with seeing Big Ben, Parliament, and everything else in London….never get tired of seeing them.
Yes, Dennis did enjoy the concert. He had seen it one other time in NYC and thought Adam was soooooooooooooo much better now and really thought he had improved since then. He thinks he has an unbelievable voice. I do have to drag information out of him sometimes. LOL! Being a theater guy himself, he feels Adam is very structured in his shows…but likes this.
Am so glad I went. The trip of a lifetime for me to see the Tour of a Lifetime. I just had to see the show once more.
eta; Dennis likes adventures and doesn’t mind being dragged to situations. But doesn’t “get” the flailing. haha
Thanks for the wonderful recap luval, and so glad you got to see this leg of the tour. As fabulous as the shows were this summer, especially when I was standing right up at tha B stage, the additions to the production, the new songs, and Adam’s increased confidence and stage presence (how is that even possible?) made me so glad I went. Sorry about the first hotel but I’m glad the second one made up for it.
luval. Thank you very much for your recap of your QAL concert and how you felt during the citytour. Must have been fun to see Adam so close !!
luval, loved your recap, London is on my bucket list for sure. Funny, because I was at a wedding last month, and one of the couples at our table for the reception, was from London. I started talking travel with him, and mentioned how I would love to see London someday, and he, LOL, said to me, “Oh. My dear, don’t ever go to London! It is simply dreadful, I’ll never go back, and I’m from there!”
I still want to go. I’m so glad you got to see your bucket list city and for such a wonderful reason. I’m still laughing at your picture of truck hugging.
The best thing about my Novotel stay in Toronto was my roomate.
Thanks for the recap recap luval. Sounds as though your first glimpse of London was the perfect moment and the concert must have been amazing. Not surprised that your friend nearly cried during “Love of My Life”. No crowd can make that song more heartfelt or beautiful than a London one.
Mils, you have to go to London one day. Here’s hoping that Adam gives us all a reason to go together at some point. Another QAL would be fine with me!
luval Thank you for the wonderful recap! What an experience to visit a place of your dream. There are so much to see in London, love all the historic buildings and museums. You sure went to the right concert, for me this and Hamburg is one of my top favorite in UK/UR Tour.Sometimes last minute decision are the best!
