Adam kicks off a series of concerts as the lead vocalist for Queen (billed as Queen + Adam Lambert), with the group joining Elton John at a charity concert in Kiev, Ukraine. This concert benefits the Russian group Antiaids, and is being held in the official Euro 2012 Fan Zone at Independence Square in Kiev. The free concert is scheduled to begin at 8 PM Kiev time (6 PM London time, 1 PM Eastern time, 10 AM Pacific time).
Additional Queen + Adam Lambert concerts are scheduled for July 3 (Moscow), July 7 (Wroclaw, Poland), followed by a series of three dates in London on July 11, 12 and 14.

Elton John is so relaxed. He is such an old hand at this, has nothing to prove. Just has fun with the audience. – Adam is in a very different spot, I so hope he can relax and have fun with it too.

Wonderful quality but I seem to be enjoying it a whole lot more than many in the audience…especially the peeps in the VIP seats…
ETA: not all peeps by any means, but a considerable number. Maybe they are there for Queen and not Elton fans…OR MAYBE THEY ARE THERE JUST BECAUSE OF ADAM!!! (I hope and think that this is true for at least some)
They probably have corporate sponsors too. With the big names and large crowds, it’s good advertising for corporations, and gives them kudos for supporting a good cause. Free concert for the masses, great music, awareness and donations for a deadly disease, and good will for big business. Win-win for everyone.

Elton’s program is a little sleepy for me but his voice is wonderful.
I am really enjoying the director/cameramen’s choices of how to show this. Someone posted how many cameras were going to be there, I think – it was a considerable number. Glad for that!

I was just watching Elton, imagining Adam up there in an hour or so, thinking about all the nay-sayers on various blogs (not this one!!!!) who have been trying to downplay this experience. OK, who else from Idol, let alone most of the rest of the world, have gotten this experience? I was on another blog this morning and had to practically tie my hands up so I wouldn’t post something to some nay-sayers. I just kept thinking about my husband’s take on the whole trolling thing that he shared with me during a conversation awhile back: People coming online over and over to say crap (#1) don’t have lives of their own and, therefore, spend their time trying to generate their own excitement (kind of like the kid in school who acts out to get attention because ANY attention, even negative, is better than none at all, and (#2) are afraid of something–for instance that he’s going to do better than their own favorite. Anyhow, this is AMAZING! I’m nervous for Adam, but also so happy for him that the elites in the business have singled him out as someone truly special and, since HE was the chosen one, obviously above and beyond most others in the business today.
