mlg!!!!!!!!!!! Hugs to you sweetie!! Stay warm in Chicago, we’re getting colder by the minute here, so close to you!!

Ha, you don’t need help, just look at your Adam pictures, you’ll be warm, put on your fabulous red boa, and remember Chicago!!!

  7. milwlovesadam says:

Oh, Save Me rules once again. I just love how they’re talking, and suddenly get quiet, realizing they are witnessing vocal majesty, awed by it, silenced.

  8. cwm says:

This is an AMAZING shot from Radio GaGa in the Cologne show. How do you feel about putting this up top, AL?

mils, I do agree with you that Adam was saving his voice a little on some songs, but he did add some choice glory notes here and there so that they did get an excellent show. WWTLF was perfect, and that run at the end of WATC was amazing. His voice sounded especially satiny tonight, especially on that beautiful Save Me.
And poor Brian! He is on stage almost all the time and on his feet, just a little rest during ’39, LOML and Save Me. It must have been really hard for him. And another big one tomorrow, so no real rest. Hope he feels better, the man is a “cher,” never sleeps!!!

We now have at least one video of every song performed in Cologne. Just missing the drum battle. Check out the top of the thread for links to reviews and photos. Also, check out the link (below the embedded videos, after WATC) that leads to mmadamimadamm’s thread on Idol Forums. She does a great job sorting the videos by videographer and does that for every concert!

    On to Amsterdam!

  25. turquoisewaters says:

So for whatever its worth here is my translation of the review. (Although it is not all-out negative, I find it ignorant, rude, and annoying. I don’t think this person knows much about Queen to begin with.)
    Here goes:

    Koelner Stadt Anzeiger Article:
Queen Celebrate Live Comeback in the Lanxess Arena

With Adam Lambert instead of Freddie Mercury, Queen are again touring. In Cologne they gave their first concert in this combination. The interplay between the rock dinosaurs and the new front man who is only half their age worked rather well. The singer lounged around a lavender sofa, fanned himself theatrically, and even had the champagne mentioned in the song on hand. No question that Adam Lambert rocks as a man-killing “Killer Queen”, and when Brian May starts his solo with his self-made red special, the Queen retro enjoyment is unadulterated. The interaction of the rock dinosaurs Brian May (65), Roger Taylor(67, percussion) , and the new front man half their age works rather well. 15,500 fans could convince themselves of this at the first concert in Germany in this combination in the Lanxess Arena.
The American Lambert, who celebrated his 33rd birthday at the day of the show, took over the vacant spot of the British rock legend in the summer of 2012 – an ambitious new start after the intermezzo with Blues veteran Paul Rodgers from 2005 to 2007. In contrast to the rather uncharismatic Rodgers, is Lambert an extroverted and scintillating front man, a kind of “gay bird of paradise”. He started the concert with a grommeted black leather jacket, later wore a bling-bling number with golden glittery spikes on his shoulders. In the most outrageous macho number of the Queen catalogue “Fat Bottom Girls” he sings with an ironic understatement, and you have to be blind not to see that Lambert personally is not susceptible to the lure of girls with big a$$es.)
The change of singer influenced the repertoire – Brian May and Roger Taylor did not want to and could not perform live songs with an androgynous glam rock component like “Killer Queen,” “Somebody To Love”, and “Under Pressure”. Lambert, the finalist of the American casting show American Idol attacked these songs as convincingly as the stadium anthems “Radio Gaga”, the undemanding pop sway-along “I Want To Break Free” , the good old 70s rock number “Tie Your Mother Down”, and the ballads “Save Me”. But considering the long history of Queen, even a program of more than 2 hours did not provide enough time for all hits, so “Don’t stop me now” and “Spread your Wings” were missing.
Officially the tour was announced as “Queen + Adam Lambert”, but there was also a part of the show that could do without the new man. Roger Taylor slaved on the song “A Kind of Magic” as singer, by far not hitting all notes, but it still comes across as authentic old-fashioned rock and got him sympathy votes. Brian May, the royal poodle of rock and roll plucked an extra tender “Love of My Live” on his 12 string guitar, the audience taking over the vocals, before the inimitable Freddie Mercury is shown on the screen – a short greeting from the realm of death. Later during “Bohemian Rhapsody” a second Mercury split lines with Lambert. The letter arrived at Queen and is being celebrated almost like May and Taylor. But nobody asks Freddie, who is always present, if he really wants to live forever.

This on the other hand is a very positive review. Praised the show as a whole, Adam for his singing and showmanship in particular, and also Brian and Roger.
