The Queen + Adam Lambert tour kicks off Thursday night in the “Windy City” of Chicago with many ALLers taking in the opening concert. The atmosphere will be electric as we wait to see what Q+AL have planned to entertain us. If the iHeartRadio appetizer is an indication of what is to come, we are in for a moveable musical feast!

    So question for those who were there, or could see the vids, or got the info from twitter….What exactly happened with the crown? Did Adam come out wearing it and then Brian took it off and recrowned him? Or was there a crowning ceremony> This fan can’t wait for Toronto to know this. Thanks

    Adam keeps talking about how surreal it is to be performing with Queen and how he couldn’t have imagined this moment five years ago, but looking at the pure bliss on Brian’s face, I truly believe that he and Roger never in their wildest dreams thought that they would be back performing Queen’s music in a way that it was meant to be performed and hadn’t been since they lost Freddie. They have to be so happy now, and the mutual love up there on the stage is so apparent. It makes my heart sing and dance and burst with joy to behold.     From the pieces I have seen with my phone, what a spectacle! I love the theatrics, costumes, the way Adam owns the stage. Did I mention singing and music too Wink? I am thrilled for all those peeps who were actually there. I can imagine the atmosphere… They gave hell of a show.

    I hope the crown thing doesn’t spoil too many fans’ enjoyment. I think it affects more as a separate picture than at the end of the full show, especially when experiencing it live. RS, watch the Talc vid of wwry and watc, you can see whole crown thing there.

    After the song and the confetti and bows they were smiling at each other, Adam took off the crown and was holding it. Brian took it from him and put it back on his head. No ceremony, I don’t think anything was planned, it just sort of happened. But I think Brian was sending a message when he put it back on Adam’s head.

    The important thing here is the concert was simply amazing, stupendous, breath taking, tear inducing, funny, campy, serious, jaw dropping, sexy and any other adjective you can throw in there. I have been to a lot of concerts but this one so far outshines anything I have ever seen it just makes me so happy. I want to go to every performance there is. This music is alive again.

    You know when a real king dies, someone else gets the crown, Freddie’s crown was symbolic and yes someone else is wearing it now and wearing it oh so well.

    Thanks glambotgram. I watched the video posted and didn’t see anything and I was getting frustrated because I was sure that I had missed something. Couldn’t find the TALC vid. Freddie was a great king and Adam is a worthy prince and heir.

    RS, Sorry I don’t know how to bring the video here by phone Frown Just go to Talc YouTube channel, the vid of We will rock you and We are… also has the ending hymn with crown off/back on. I don’t think Brian putting it back to Adam’s head is the actual problem to anyone.

    Can’t wait to see all the vids and read recaps Smile I would so much want to see and hear this live… And I eat all my hats if there won’t be the official tour DVD. Adam is phenomenal. So is that music. I can understand it’s hard for some Freddie fans, but I love to experience this new coming of Queen.

    Going back to videos Smile Killer queen is so fun!

    Thanks LadyNorth I found it. I wish you could join us, along with HK Fan. You have to get yourself healthy so that when the rumored European shows happen next year Fingers Crossed you will be able to go. Who knows? Maybe I will be able to join you. I will be in Europe on a river cruise in early November so it would be a perfect time to stay for a few extra days Big Smile

    While there were a couple misfires – the mix was a bit muddy, the mic went out during the first song and the audio cues to the video were not always on target — the show epitomized Queen, in all its flamboyant glory

    Wow, glambotgram, I loved that review you just posted. It was so detailed that it was almost like being there, and the writer is such an avid Queen fan…He wasn’t sure about whether Adam could do the job, but was willing to give him a chance, and here are just a few of the things he said:

    I always knew Adam Lambert had to goods to be a great performer and front man, but could he pull of these songs with this band?He can command a stage like the best veterans and even though he is singing songs that are not his, it didn’t stop him from pouring every ounce if his being into it all. He’s playful, a tease, but he always took the music seriously
    Lambert wrung every drop of humanity from within on “Who Wants To Live Forever” with May pairing arena bombast with gripping despair….He’s not Freddie Mercury and he’s not trying to imitate him, but he captures his soul, his talent and his drive to inspire people. In the end, Lambert is deserving of not just your time and money, but your emotions as well.
    This is the quintessence of Queen and its heart is still beating loud and proud. It may be too much for you to bear to hear these songs sung by someone other than Mercury, but I hope you brave it, because Queen + Adam Lambert is pure majesty.

    All the reviews I have read have been very good. Why wouldn’t they be! And so many good vids Smile It’s Midsummer fest here, everyone is somewhere with friends or relatives. I had to cancel my plans for health reasons, but I am ok with it because weather is cold and Queenbert warms me inside and outside Wink Good food, videos and some vine, that’s my Midsummer fest!

    I love in the lap of the gods. Such a great Stadium song. I agree with you HK fan and firstimerob. The more I see, more I’m amazed. He. Is. Killing. Every. Song. I try to take a break and then watch them in the real order. Can’t stop Grin How can he deliver them this way? Maybe cause they are not his own songs. People know and love these songs since decades. He relates to them and interprets them perfectly and connects with artists who created them. I am grateful to Queen for these songs and how perfectly they suit Adam.
