The Queen + Adam Lambert tour kicks off Thursday night in the “Windy City” of Chicago with many ALLers taking in the opening concert. The atmosphere will be electric as we wait to see what Q+AL have planned to entertain us. If the iHeartRadio appetizer is an indication of what is to come, we are in for a moveable musical feast!

I think that the crown was given a lot of consideration by Brian and entirely appropriate.
The crowning of, and the affirmation of, Queen’s new lead singer.

I am confused about the crown thing. I am wondering how it is going to go over, but then again maybe it isnt that deep. He did look really cool at the end standing there with the crown on and the outfit, and we know Brian approves. Brian loved Freddie, and now he loves Adam, someone that can sing all the Queen songs, must mean so much to Brian, I cant even imagine.

Sorry guys, don’t care, I didn’t like it. Has nothing to do with Adam. Doesn’t mean anything other than I was just sharing a personal opinion and to me it is that deep.
We all share our personal feelings here aely with love and affection.
I liked the symbolism of the crown. I can tell you though that on Queen websites most people are furious. They realise it’s a different crown but to them it’s very much Freddie’s thing.
Was surprised by the crown – still not sure how I feel about it. Concerned, probably, about its reception among the strong Freddie fans. Perhaps Brian and Adam won’t continue it – sorta hope it’s a one-time gesture.
I loved the crown. It was campy and fun especially with the leopard suit.
And remember Brian put the crown back on his head. People in the audience were loving it.

btw – if you’re interested, that design of ‘crown’ is actually a ‘coronet’ – usually used for lower aristocratic ranks like dukes. Freddie’s crown was a full sovereign crown (i.e. for a king).

I understand your feelings aely, and you certainly have every right to express them here. It must have been a shock seeing Adam in a crown, which was Freddie’s trademark. At the same time, I am sure that Brian and Roger gave it a great deal of thought before they decided to do it, knowing that it would risk the wrath of many Queen fans. I think that the comment that kiwi just brought is important in that it is a coronet and not a king’s crown. They crowned Adam their Prince! I personally loved it! I am, however,
afraid ofconcerned about the backlash that it might cause among the diehard Freddie fans who hate Adam just for being there, without giving him a chance.still laughing after watching Killer Queen…”Look at my couch, it’s really butch!” I love him so much!
As an on site observer – at the concert – when Adam came onto
the stage and out onto the thrust wearing the crown, a lot
of laughter and cheers. If anyone was upset or didn’t like
the last part and encore, they were silent or drowned out
by those (me included) that were thrilled!!!!!! What a
fantastic night. And it is only going to get better!!!!

Wow – what a screwup – don’t they test those things – someone’s head should roll on that one.
First off…there are some amazing photos coming out of this first concert. 100 times better than the usual fuzzy ones we get.
Love the set, and the costumes (apart from maybe the last one) are perfect. Just the right amount of leather…love the gold studs and fringes, and white pants!!!!!

I’m not sure I likes that arrangement of Killer Queen though, although the close up vid was so much better than the further away one posted. Maybe if they had finished the song, it was like they stopped half way through. The vocals and look were fantastic on it….just the arrangement I don’t know if I liked it.
and aely….I get where you’re coming from….when I clicked on the first photo posted with the crown, my gut reaction was no, no no, thats Freddie’s thing. My second thought was like Rons, in that it was deliberate, and a visual of ‘we’ve found our guy, and are passing the crown to him’….but I think it will make the haters hate even more…
