    Recap for the two Baltimore shows
    I am the designated ALL recap writer for the two Baltimore shows. Riskylady, riskyhubby & rs joined me at my house near Annapolis early in the week for the concerts and a multi-day house party. We had beautiful weather and enjoyed the Annapolis and lots of good Maryland seafood in addition to the concerts. Rs left for Toronto before the second show and was joined by the Risky’s the next day. I’ll meet up with rs again in NYC.

    The first night of a concert tour is always exciting because we don’t know what to expect. The set list, the order of the songs, the graphics and, of course, Adam’s outfits are a surprise. The downside to the first night is that there are always some minor kinks to work out. The Baltimore crowd the first night was really raucous, especially at the beginning of the show. On top of that the sound mix was off for the first 10-15 minutes. It was hard to hear the vocals. But the crowd settled down and the audio was adjusted and the sound was perfect after that. Adam looked fantastic. His outfits were all very tastefully glam and looked gorgeous on his now slender body. There was lots of dancing and hip motion both nights. And his voice was mind bogglingly beautiful the entire time. The first night of the show was great, but with a slight tentative edge that would probably only be noticed by someone who has seen as many QAL shows as we have. By the second night they were comfortable with the setlist and the dynamics of the show and the show was seamless perfection. Adam was relaxed and a total ham on the the second night. He was really in his element. The audio was perfect too. The Baltimore crowd was very enthusiastic and gave them lots of love both nights which they really fed on. The tour was off to a good start.

    So what were the highlights of this show? There were lots of little treats throughout the show. The show began with a short version of Radio Gaga and then, like a bookend, it reappeared in the encore. The Radio Gaga machine videos and lots of weird robots played a big part, especially at the start of the show. Adam’s flashy motor cycle for Bicycle Races was really amusing especially the view from his crotch cam. He hammed that up. And talk about hamming it up, the new camp version of Killer Queen in front of the make up mirror was one of the best. A Kind of Magic had elaborate graphics and special effects. Adam did all the vocals for that song. I remember Roger singing it on earlier tours. Another special treat was Roger’s drum solo. It started with a video of a very young Roger doing a drum solo. He then followed it up with a short drum solo of his own. Brian did his guitar solo in outer space. It was only about 8-9 minutes and was nicely done. I was really happy that Adam did TSMGO both nights. I hope they keep that in the set list. But the biggest treat of all was Adam singing The World We Created accompanied by Brian on acoustic guitar. Adam’s vocals were absolutely gorgeous. The graphics on the screen were beautiful and fitting for a song so appropriate for these crazy times. There were plenty of other special moments throughout the show, Brian’s acoustic versions of Love of My Life and 39 and, of course, Adam’s always magnificent WWTLF. All of you with tickets for upcoming shows are going to love this newest QAL tour.

    Oh, and I forgot to mention one of our favorite additions to this show. Adam’s bluesy beginning to Tie Your Mother Down was a breathtaking variation on the original song.
    We really loved it!
