“I’ve got a whole new set-list and it’ll be a completely different vibe.”

Shout it out Adam! Glamberts around the world cannot wait. And it’s Cape Town that will have the distinction of experiencing a couple of firsts: first time that Adam has performed in South Africa and first time for the new “vibe” show. He will be performing in the Grand Arena at the GrandWest Casino in Cape Town. According to a report on twitter, the concert was SOLD OUT!

The set is said to be 90 minutes and the Glamily now includes dancers Terrance Spencer and Johnny Rice. It will be interesting to see what songs have been chosen and what the dancers will add to the show.

The concert opens with local artist, Toya DeLazy at 8 PM SAST (1 PM EST, 10 AM PDT) so expect Adam to be on around 9 PMish.

mils, this was the Bowie reference:

    Paula Coots‏@PaulaRCoots
@adamlambert Straitjacket like Bowie in ’74 Diamond Dogs show, when the 2 dancers tied him with ropes! Love that!

Paula also tweeted him about the Ziggy lightening bolt on the back of his jacket.

This must be the inspiration of the Lenny Krevitz cover and costume. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8moA7OzJ9s
I love the high energy rock and roll vibe. I have to admit I had never seen this before. Big holes in my music education.

  3. milwlovesadam says:

Interesting that Lenny Kravitz and Slash were in the same high school class. Yes, I’ve been on Wiki.

  4. luval says:

I listened again to the Lenny Kravitz cover. Still don’t like the song but liked it better the second time. Does this make sense? The guitar work was great, though.

  5. milwlovesadam says:

I have a feeling that Brian London and Tommy are fans of Lenny Kravitz too. He’s an amazing musician. I saw a special about him on some show last year, and he lives in Jamaica in a trailer on the beach. He is deeply involved in the reggae scene. Writing and performing in that style now. Interesting…

BTW. I thought TJR was very very good at this show. TeeHee with his yellow guitar.

  6. riskylady says:

AL, kudos! That’s some seriously good research you did!

  7. turquoisewaters says:

Tomorrow is already the next show. Usually when there are two in a row, the second one is wilder. Can’t wait! Laugh

Also, AL, love that video from the side balcony! It’s so exciting at the beginning of a concert, the crowd literally THUNDERS when Adam comes out, and then the screaming is pretty much non-stop. As you said, it’s a good reality check too – far cry from watching YouTubes.

  9. luval says:

Love that video too, AL. I get chills thinking of every live show I’ve seen….that beginning when he comes out…Wilkes Barre GN, New Orleans was fantastic…just every single one. Hard to explain to people who have never seen him live. It’s exciting to see & get a reaction from the Adam virgins. My brother was a perfect example…in Fantasy Springs…said when he came out it was stunning and exciting.

  10. TLKC says:

I loved the balcony video, too. The roar of the crowd as he comes on stage and the slow build before it is like no other experience I have ever had. At live shows, I’ve never minded waiting for his show to start – the anticipation is a huge part of the excitement.

This show was a blast. Apart from Adam’s amazing vocals and OTT charisma, it has an abundance of raw energy and good stuff in it. In Cuckoo and a few other places he is borderline silly in a good way. That’s a hard thing for an entertainer to do: impress the hell out of you and make you laugh at the same time.

Looking at the Bowie video made me realize how much of Adam’s show still has to take shape. Projected images add so much to the total effect and the lighting sets the mood. In Cape Town Adam was performing in front of a backdrop that looked like a sheet. The lighting was good but simple; no images. Choreography was probably created on the fly between Terrance, Johnny and Adam himself. Only the costumes, which are core to the show’s theme and look, have been worked out.

Adam is going to layer on these things as he gets a feel for how the show plays live. It’s going to be a blast to see him do this tour live.

  11. riskylady says:

OMG did no one notice at the end of the band intro where Adam pointed at someone in the audience who was motioning for him to wrap it up? He called the person an asshole (laughing), asked if he wanted to come up and do it for him, then motioned j**king off to him. LOL! The videoer said in comments that afterwards he thanked him and called him a good sport.

  12. HK fan says:

Agree about the lighting TLKC, the lighting at Hammersmith for the queenbert shows was excellent from beginning to end. Really added to the show.

I don’t know if Robin Williams was a fan before, but he certainly is now. we’ve had a lot of photos, tweets/video from him, and now this twitlonger

I don’t know how people tweet during a show but I am grateful to the ones who do. I really enjoyed Robin Williams’ tweets. He made you miss the show even as you were watching it. YouTube gave us an Adam riffing off the energy of a 5000+ house but it can’t give us the smell of the greasepaint and the roar of the crowd. Concert tweets are very exciting even after the fact.

Based on tweets, this concert may be one of the most exciting live shows Adam has ever given. Can’t wait to see what happens tonight.

  17. TLKC says:

LOL Risky Lady, I haven’t been on AO in eons but I went in to check on the Cape Town posts and there is a fan venting over Brian’s response to the tweeter who suggested he toss out the reggae. This particular fan was extremely incensed a while back because Adam blocked a few fan friends for tweeting him to ditch his band for a better one. Now he is on a rant about Brian’s manners.

I can’t imagine what this fan will say if he hears about Adam’s reaction to the wrap-up signal from the fan in the Cape Town audience.

  18. AL says:

Added some new videos from Vanessa Ruiters above. She filmed the big screens and has some great close-up shots.
