Welcome to ALL 808Glam! and thanks for the photo. It’s up top for ALL to see!
And a complete set of videos is now posted from daydreaminmylif.
These videos have been a welcome consolation after my failure to get tickets to the Las Vegas concert today. This was quite a concert with unbelievable vocals! I’m so happy for all of you who were there. Wise last minute decision, turquoise!
Thanks for the welcome, AL! I have been lurking since about a week after Del Mar where I met the nice turquoise at sound check. She was kind enough to let me know about this site. Del Mar was my first time hearing Adam live and I am still in the afterglow. Wish I was there in Paso yesterday! Being a photographer myself this photo by a fellow pro just made me come out of lurking and post the link for everyone to enjoy. And, of course, I have my own Adam story, too!
Wishing everyone a nice weekend with aloha from Maui… therefore the 808
Watched that daydream “Shout” about ten times – just dynamite – force of nature in that performance – don’t mess with me, people.
sparkle, I didn’t know you lived on “the” coast? if you were in DC at the 9:30 club, does that mean you are another Maryland ALLer?

Kradamour, I’m a Pennsylvania ALL’er – I think I’m the only one, or at least the only one that posts somewhat regularly. I love that folks here are from all over the world (hi 808glam from Hawaii!) and that some of us live close enough to get together for Adam and non-Adam events. We met at WB but I was unable to go to the Gaylord. I’m an attorney as well – love to hear how you accidently became a lawyer sometime!
Haha, I see you 808Glam. Welcome. I am so glad to see you here.
I’m looking forward to hearing all about this, 808glam!!
Ah sparkle….. Yes, we have such great memories from that amazing concert at the 9:30 Club last September. In my opinion, one of Adam’s finest!

handy to have
Hi back to you on the East Coast, sparkle!
http://youtu.be/AjLV9DTM6Ok
this new?
Ok, so I figured out how to do use the “bold”
Hehe turquoise… thanks! Be nice, otherwise I’ll go back into lurking
dcglam… it’s a positive one, of course, my Adam story… how could it be otherwise… let me think…
Oh, Sparkle, I am glad that I didn’t inadvertently “diss” you! Of course I remember meeting you in WB, but didn’t realize that you were a local! So many peeps came from all over, it was a little bit hard to keep everyone straight, especially in such exciting circumstances – and unlike Ste Agathe, for example, where everyone had more time together, we were only there for the one day.
So are you in southern PA, close to the MD border? That is information to file away.
Ah, becoming an accidental lawyer…it is an easy thing to tell. After I got my BA, I was a French teacher in a Catholic school…they found a nun to teach for free…so I didn’t have my contract renewed. Back in the day, there were NO openings for French teachers – I had to go to Illinois to find even that position. A friend was taking the LSAT in Chicago, and I thought I would tag along for the weekend and if I was going, what the heck I’d take the LSAT also. So I took it cold, and since I really didn’t care very much how I did (unlike the people around me who were having nervous breakdowns, it is a pretty high-stakes exam), I scored in the 99th percentile and was offered a number of full scholarships to nice law schools. I thought what the heck, I’ll go for a year and see if the French teacher market opens up. Next thing I knew, I was taking a bar exam. And that’s the story.
So I practiced law for a year and two days and then became a sportswear buyer for Hochschild Kohn in Baltimore.
Then I got married and taught French for two years until my son was born.
Then I taught law for a while at a university (undergrad) as an adjunct professor while the boys grew up.
Then I did nothing for a while.
Then I taught French for a while.
Now I do nothing again.
Haven’t watched all the vids yet, but that Shout from daydreamin is amazing…..have put it on my ipod, hopefully it sounds OK on there.
Any computer geeks on here????? For a long time now I have been unable to watch embedded videos on my laptop i.e the ones at the top of the page, in news articles, on fb etc etc. I can watch them from the links in the comments no problem. My husband has tried what he can think of to be able to see them but no luck. Any ideas?
Kradamour – I understand why you would not know that I was a “local”. After all, I travelled to WB with the duke and duchess of Florida and roomed with mmm222 of Maryland. However, I had never met them before connecting with them through ALL. I live only an hour from Baltimore and less than 2 hours from D.C. So if you, adamized, mmm, dcglam, and ulti are getting together, count me in! Loved hearing your story – we should probably move all this to the main chat page. dcglam – went back a few days ago and read our chat from the 9:30 concert and relived the whole sparkly belt conversation. So glad that these are all posted here to revisit – like an online diary of sorts!
The last is the best, Krad – that’s me, too.
And how can you say you do nothing? You have a fulltime job here as an amazing Adam fan and major contributor!! You too ulti!!
Agree about that “Shout,” HK fan – see my post upstream? The gestures, facial movements, the end when he walks away – just wow.
HK fan. Do you use Firefox?
HK fan, have you tried updating your Flash player plugin? What browser are you using? And have you tried other browsers to see if they had the same problem?
OMG! What a concert, and it all started with meeting the lovely TCHRSD and OvationImpact (who was the enthusiastic – and very kind lady who sold us her tickets), and some others who I let get away before properly identifying them. Was that Jlurksacto I met, the tall cute guy with the infectious laugh? Y’all had just come from dinner, and Cher said he would be there, along with her niece, I think. Anyway everyone was so friendly and welcoming. My husband loved the concert, but I kind of think he enjoyed the representatives of Adam’s unique community almost as much.
We weren’t expecting the beautiful weather, it had cooled down and the acoustics for Alison’s part augured well for the main attraction. She has grown so much since I saw her in SF on the GN tour, and said several times how grateful she was to be there. What a good friend Adam is! I even think she has improved somewhat on her enunciation. She looked beautiful – and happy.
How many here, and to be accurate, elsewhere, have commented on Adam’s ability to light up every part of the stage? Yes, he was on fire, the vocal runs and the ease with which he uses his instrument however he is moved to do so is nothing short of amazing. But the predominant feeling I get from watching him is of pure joy, egoless, giving, loving. It’s like he is telling us ‘yeah, I know I can sing, but I’m really here to be sure you are entertained, and I’ll do whatever it takes to engage you on all levels’. The little moments when he came out to redo WWFM, a cappela, to get us to sing, the incredible high notes he performed and then laughed at himself for doing it (can’t remember, was it the end of AYGGMW?), the two (very) young girls in the 2nd row near us who were overwhelmed when he singled them out and sang to them. Probably their first experience with the “eye beam” phenomenun. I looked back a minute later and they were still in a state of shock, completely undone, lol!
Adam’s mom passed right by me afterward, and I was surprised I recognized her. She is small and really pretty, and had been dancing up front, it seems. She, of course went back through the barriers while the rest of us waited, hoping for a sighting…my husband offered to take TCHRSD’s picture with Adam if the chance offer itself. Unfortunately, a properly apologetic young lady was sent to let us all know that Adam and gang has departed. Didn’t matter, the glow remains, and even my skeptical husband said he would go to another concert in a heartbeat.
Looking at the reseller’s ticket prices for the Las Vegas, that may be a while!
Huge thanks to this site, the people who run it, and the people who…well, people it! What a wonderful bunch.
Loved your recap, Tothebeat, especially the bit about the really young girls. Growing the fanbase!
thank you, tothebeat!!!! Loved your recap, expressing the spirit of the concert.
Thank you, eywflyer and AL!!! and everyone else involved in the admin of this site!

What a show!
That Chokehold was as close to Napa as it could be.
So many vocal runs, such playfullness, so much pure radiant joy. What a show.
I’m so glad that people that I “know” were there. It brings it closer to home.
Adam sure showed the coasts a lot of love in teh Trespassing era. But, I am feeling left out of mid-America opportunities to see Adam, even during radio promo times. There was one radio thing in Chicago which was poorly planned and under-attended, and Des Moines. That’s all I can remember. Otherwise, virtually every radio promo or concert in the last year and a half has been overseas or on the coasts.
Sorry to sound selfish or a downer, but, there are a lot of fans who missed out on chances to see our guy because of locales.
This show really did seem like the end of an era. And if he becomes as popular as I think he will this year….
I am glad you got to go to Des Moines, mils.
It really is too bad that it was a coast-centric non-tour, and I think that quite a few peeps did not take advantage of the radio promos (especially in the beginning) because a tour was expected, so they missed out, too.
If Adam is in the throes of new music (as it appears), then this may well have been his Trespassing swan song, which would explain why he threw everything into it. I am so happy for peeps who attended, and I agree with mils that it is so nice to have a connection to peeps who were there!
and this seems silly, probably, but I really love when it is a terrific “not to be missed” show (that I missed) when it was on the west coast, because that seems so much like Mars to me that I don’t mind missing something that is impossible.
On the other hand, when a “not to be missed” gig happens where I could have been but decided not to (for whatever reason), that is hard.
ITA krads. I could have gone to the Chicago promo gig, and I was in constant contact with my friend adamaddict100, but the radio station said that you had to have a pass to get in, so we couldn’t get a pass, and then, we saw that they let anyone in who showed up. We were sooooooo pissed off!!!!!!
We could have been right up and close to him in that lovely acoustic format, practically sitting in his lap.
That was the only mid-America Trespassing era gig besides Des Moines. Otherwise, believe me, I would have been there.
With bells on.
I remember you angsting over the Chicago gig, mils, and posting after that everyone was admitted. I felt terrible for you.
BUT Des Moines was an awesome concert with beaucoup friends, and it sounds as though you guys were practically sitting in his lap there, too!
Tothebeat, thank you for the wonderful recap!
I came to this thread to ask a question then found these great posts from the concert goers and completely forgot what it was.
Maybe it will come to me later.
Such a great concert. Wish I had been there too!

Love #4 (1st in 2nd line) – just gorgeous posture.
OH O O! I remember!
Have we heard from Mr 4 corndogs yet, as to what he thought about the concert?
IK, ulti, the posture always gets me, too!
Welcome 808Glam. Immediately figured “Hawaii”. Lived in Aiea on Oahu for 12.5 years. Visited Maui several times. Would die for some shrimp scampi at Longhi’s (if they’re still around). Glad you were able to attend Del Mar. Wish I’d have met you. Happy posting!
I’d love to see a review from “Mr 4 corndogs” as well. His name is Pat Pemberton. Twitter is @ppemberton.
Mahalo for the welcome, reese! Of course you would recognize the 808 then Longhi’s is still here, not sure about the shrimp scampi though
Where do you live now?
We may have even met briefly in passing when I was listening with turquoise to the sound check in Del Mar. Having lived in the islands for so long as you have (for me over 18 years now), would you agree with me that Adam fully represents/embodies the aloha spirit? That is how I feel about him… full of aloha (love) and living it. It can be found in anyone, anywhere, not just in the islands… an ambassador for aloha (love) in the world. Also other island values like being kind, gentle, humble and the concept of being ‘pono’ (right/correct) with everyone and everything…
nkd, kiwi… that corndog review made me actually leave my first comments on a site I think. I couldn’t help it. I just had to.
tothebeatThanks for the great recap. We were sitting in the row behind you and did meet you briefly. I loved what you said about your DH (hubby) because that is exactly what happened with mine. We had been to several show that were near us but you don’t really meet others because we were with local friends. But then we decided to drive to Phoenix. We met the others that were staying where we were and had such a great time. He was hooked.
We had the best seat for this one and loved when BB came to our side of stage and interacted with the peeps. It is hard to explain why this concert was special but Adam was just glowing and his voice was off the charts.
We were picked up after the concert by our friends husband and he was listening to a local radio station. He said a reporter on the station said “This concert was the best concert that he has ever seen and the best the fair has ever had”.
The only sad note was when we all said goodby, and don’t know when or where we will see everyone again. Personally I am not worried. It may be awhile before the next concert but Adam is Not Going Away. He is just too good!
