Adam hosts the 2012 VH1 Divas event from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. This show is a benefit event for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation. The show airs live tonight at 6 PM PST (9 PM EST) in the United States on VH1 (see world clocks below for Red Carpet and show times in your area). Adam will be performing at least a couple of songs in addition to his hosting duties, we know that one of them will be a Madonna song. Rumor has it (from interpretation of rehearsal photos) that it will be “Vogue”. A “red shoes” reference in a tweet from @Wildaboutmusic seem to suggest that Adam will also perform David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance”.
Update: Adam did indeed perform “Let’s Dance” to open the show. The Madonna song turned out to be “Ray of Light”. Adam (along with Kelly Rowland and Kerri Hilson) also performed “Hot Stuff” in a tribute to Donna Summer.
According to an insider tweet (see below) “Adam will sing more than any host in VH1 Divas history”, so there may a surprise or two in store for us as well!

I’m agreeing with you Ron, I cannot think of any other singer out there who could do what Adam did last night, except Bruno. Bruno has been in showbiz since he was a little boy. He’s articulate and funny. He can sing and dance. And, after SNL, we know he is funny.
I watched him on Graham Norton recently, I thought he was really funny and quick-witted.
Most entertainers couldn’t put three words together to form a short cohesive, well pronounced sentence if they tried and had a coach.
It’s pathetic really.
From Idol, David Cook and Michael Johns are very well-spoken, but “soft” and boring IMHO. I do like their singing though. From Idol, maybe Constantine could do what Adam did. But, he’s become so theater ( loved him in Rock of Ages last year ) he’s not known in the music business.

I did find the Let’s Dance performance and the sketch with Neke and Sutan is priceless. Adam was spot-on and Sutan’s double-take is perfect.

I think I’m beginning to see how Adam might have gotten this job. During the whole … is Adam going to be a judge on AI? … time, Rickey said that if it was his decision, Adam would definitely be on the panel.
I voted for the Stache Look, too. I wanted to vote for the Elmo Jacket look but I couldn’t bring myself to check off a box that said “Cee Lo Green Look”.

You know what I particularly loved about the divas show? That it presented Adam – without denying his gayness – as sexy and desirable to sexy and desirable women…this may be one of the missing pieces in the puzzle of why Adam isn’t asked to guest, collab, etc.
That pic of the two gorgeous women hanging on him? One of them with most of her boob hanging out? Lipstick on his cheek? IMHO, magic. I think that perhaps TPTB needed to see this.
Just a thought.

That’s very interesting, Ron. Michael Orland felt the same way as Rickey. Honestly, if Idol sees these skits and hears all the comments about how nice Adam is, who knows? As it is, they may find themselves wishing a few times this winter that they had made at least one different choice.

BTW, on the affection front – I thought he and Sauli were unbelievably sweet in the red carpet and after-party pics. Looks as though separation has made the heart grow fonder.
What I love about the Sutan thing is that all those clothes came from Adam’s own closet. The humor is so tongue in cheek, and tailored for us Glamberts.
Even having Neil on the piano. I mean, they could have easily asked Michael Orland or even Rickey Minor to do that. But, having Neil there getting dissed by NeNe was just all kinds of awesome.

I just watched the whole show through (not in bits and pieces like the first time), thanks to the link that LadyNorth sent. All in all it was a great show and Adam did a fabulous job. Not only was he a wonderful host (I loved the opening clip and the “duck mouth”) with a fantastic sense of comedic timing, but he was also the musical star of the show, with more numbers than any of the other singers. And except for a couple of slips his performances were great. I got so worried when he literally slipped on those stairs, my mind went back to the AMAs, and the look on his face…And he couldn’t have had much rehersal time for such a big show. Remember, he had a performance in SF two days earlier! As for the outfits, I loved all the costume changes. At first I was WTF about the ROL hoodie, but when I watched a few more times I decided what I did and didn’t like. It framed his face beautifully and I loved the top part, but I didn’t like the bottom with the tights underneath. I think it was the wrong length and along with the shoes and big gloves it made him and his dancing look clumsy.
And I loved the afterparty pics of Adam and Sauli, spied photos of two Glamberts who I met in London, YAY!, and aely your chance encounter was the best kind, like cwm’s, real and natural, not planned and not paid for (not dissing my M&G, but this is better). Good for you!

Just listened and watched Ray Of Light again. Wow. Adam really put it out there vocally. I think it was the best vocal of the night by anybody.
Don’t we all wish we could be a fly on the wall to hear all the accolades that must still be coming his way???
I just watched Ray of Light again too, and I think it was a great vocal, it kinda got me the first time, I didnt understand it, watching it again was so much better, does anyone think he was kinda doing the Ring of Fire thing with it, the vocals? Kinda like he did with Red Shoes on Idol Tour. He did steal the show, and I thought he had a lot of vocal moments, we were just so amazed with what he was doing, it was kinda hard to pick some of this stuff out.
And we watch all this stuff, because its our job!
Not sure about the Ring of Fire thing vocally. If you listen to the original Madonna version, there is a lot going on vocally and with techno sounds in the song. It has won awards for techniques used both in audio and video. It really is a “historic” song. I’ll try to get the Wiki post about it.
