After months of waiting, get ready for “The Original High” this month. We’ve been treated with 4 songs already but are anxious to hear the full album. Adam is out promoting at various radio stations, on TV and doing phone interviews. With “Ghost Town” slowly moving up the charts, it will be interesting to see if TOH becomes Adam’s second number one album. With timely appearances on TV during the week of the album release, his casual fans should be aware of the new music and help generate sales. Here’s hoping to a successful launch and that it leads to a solo tour!

    luval great recap. I feel very lucky that we were able to see Adam in two very casual venues. I loved being able to observe him just doing normal things. I actually have a picture on my phone of him picking his teeth during the GMA rehearsal. I won’t be sharing that one Grin

    Melissa and I had decided to take a very zen attitude towards the CD signing at B&N knowing that our train was going to arrive an half hour last in NY and that there was no way we could get across town any earlier than 1pm. Luckily luval was giving us a blow by blow of what was happening at B&N and let us know that Adam was late as well. We made it to B&N and after some misdirections from the guard at the front of the store we bought our CDs; received our “stand by” wrist bands and made it back upstairs to the long line. The manager came over to us after about 15 minutes and said that though Adam had another engagement he was pretty sure that Adam would hang around till he had signed everyone’s CD.

    This was a much more pleasant experience for me than my meet and great. It seemed so much more normal and I actually was able to get a couple words out of my mouth without sounding like a complete looney tune. He was quite lovely and seemed to be enjoying himself.

    GMA was a lot of fun. When Adam came out with that shirt, and those shoes, and THE PANTS it was a sight to behold. Seeing Adam at one of his dress rehearsals has been on my bucket list for several years. Watching his interactions with the sound folks and the other crew just reinforces my belief that he is the ultimate professional and a very good human being.

    As luval mentioned the crowd had lots of glamberts but heavily interspersed with young men and families of all colors. Lovely to see.

    I loved the SNOL chat. It reminded me of the chat Adam gave for his fans just after American Idol. It was over an hour long and he was wearing a black and white checked shirt. His only prop was a plant. Does anyone else remember that?

    His Lindsay interview was also wonderful. I love “There I Said It” even more not knowing it probably is about his relationship with the media and/or the public in general. My favorites right now are Lucy; TOH; and TISI. Hoping that TOH is the next single.

    #8 in the UK is really good.

    Here’s my GMA recap:
    Adamized and I were scheduled to arrive in NYC on Thursday at 12 noon, and figured we could get to B&N by 12:30 PM when the signing started. When the train got delayed by 30 minutes, we thought there was no hope of getting in. Luval and nkd were in line giving us updates and told us to show up anyway, bags and all. Fortunately Adam arrived only about 10 minutes before we did. We were given standby bracelets and were told to get in line. It turns out that we were the first two with standby bracelets and only about ten people showed up after us. So everyone got their CD signed. The process were very efficient. They were moving people through the line very quickly and then moving them out of the area. I caught a glimpse of Adam from a distance before getting in line. Oh goodness…he looked so stunning in that sleeveless vest with his natural reddish hair. That was enough to keep me going for the next hour in line. When my turn came, he looked me in the eye and said hello. Somehow I managed to remain standing (probably thanks to my bag which I was wheeling along with me!). I thanked him for everything he does for us. He thanked me for coming. Then they whisked me away, but not before I managed to snap a photo from off to the side. It was very quick but still quite a thrill to be so close to him. As a side note, I got a good look at the tattoos. Although I’m not a fan of tattoos, I must say his tattoos are beautifully drawn and look better in the flesh than they do in photos.

    After the signing, luval, adamized and I checked into our hotel, and then met nkd and her daughter at the 9/11 memorial. We had a fairly early dinner and got to bed early in preparation for a very long day on Friday. Luval, adamized, and I left our hotel at 5 AM and were in line at the 72nd street entrance to Central Park by 5:15 AM. They let us go into the park, walking in an orderly line about 20 minutes later. The people with VIP passes got to stand closest to the stage, but before the show started they removed the barriers and let the rest of us move up behind them. I managed to get behind some kids and was just to the left of center only 3 people from the stage. Luval & adamized were a little to my left. The crowd was very enthusiastic and incredibly diverse. Lots of men and people of all ages, not to mention a fair number of blacks, Asians, and Hispanics. It was very interesting watching the production crew for the show in action. They coached us on when to yell and for how long when the show was live. They also kept us entertained when Adam wasn’t on stage by bringing some of the audience members on stage. The time went quickly. Everyone was in a rollicking good mood. The band came out to warm up first for the rehearsal/ sound check. People were dancing and singing along to GT. Then Adam came out on stage and everyone went nuts. He got this beautiful grin on his face when he saw us. It was pure happiness! His outfit was, as you know, quite a sight to behold. The shirt was beautiful and unbuttoned just the right amount. And those pants…oh lordy! All I could think of was how much mils and glambotgram would have enjoyed seeing that outfit first hand. So, ahem, back to the music…he sang all four songs in the rehearsal. There was an intimacy to that performance that I loved. It was just for us to enjoy while the crew, with some direction from Adam, worked with the sound mix and got everything right for the show. Adam then left the stage for a while. He came out during the show to sing GT. When the camera started rolling, his charm and charisma were off the charts. It was really impressive to see that transformation. There was a break after GT. Then he returned at the end of the show to do TOH, WWFM and EITN. All were fabulous. I kept wondering if they were only showing him on TV from the waist up, because that man has some mighty fine moves, especially during EITN. TOH is also wonderful live. When it was all over, I was high as a kite on a mixture of adrenalin and endorphins that I get every time I see Adam live. That is why he’s so addictive. He’s our original high!

    After the show, we had a huge breakfast and slowly came down. Luval, adamized & I then went back to Central Park to walk around, take in all the scenery and visit the zoo. We had an early dinner with nkd and her daughter, and then we all went to see the Carole King musical, Beautiful. Anyone who loves music, especially anyone born in the 50’s or earlier, would love this show. Carole King wrote a remarkable number of hit songs from the late 50’s and the 60’s, sung by other artists. The show is the story of her life and music from her earlier years. It was really well done. After the show, we went back to our hotels and collapsed. The following day, luval left after breakfast and adamized and I went to a couple of small art museums before heading home. We had a really wonderful time!
